DEVOTION for   August 14th *A.D. 2025

Note: The New King James Version NKJV and all other versions  that are NOT  translated from  the Textus Receptus [Received Text] are  inferior to the  translations of the  1769 [1611] King James Version, KJV and the Geneva Bible.  Only these two translations have remained  faithful to the traditional Textus Receptus.

The Textus Receptus [Received Text] is supported by more than 5,321 Majority Greek Text MT Manuscripts that agree 99% with one another. ALL OTHER readings have as their primary Greek source either Westcott and Hort’s or Nestle and Aland’s, made up Greek Texts  fabricated from only a handful [45] of Majority Text Manuscripts and  lack the  trustworthiness of the inspired 1769 [1611] King James Version, KJV and the Geneva Bibles; the 1only two translated from the reliable, inspired  and divinely protected Textus Receptus.

The Bridge to Babylon video presents historical evidence to account for the explosion of over 100 different  English version translations  of the Bible into English. The continuing attempts to replace, add or take away from the 1769 King James Version of the Holy Bible will not  prevail because GOD Himself preserves and protects His Holy Word

from all heresy, blasphemy, confusion and error.

Defend the Truth. Won’t you?  ...More

Is   this website trustworthy?

Is it of God?

1 John 4:1-3

Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everyone or everything] you hear but be testing the spirit [voice] whether it is of God: because many false prophets have gone [come] out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses [avows] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come[who came] out of God, is of God: and every spirit that confesses [avows] not that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit [voice] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Therefore, I hereby  confess, ,  that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh.

[The English translations of the Bible that use other Greek manuscripts than the Textus Receptus translate  “Has come” and ignore “ictin” (the Greek word for is) This error is clearly-evident because non-believers and false prophets can, and do, make the confession that He “has come” in the flesh. While this is true at face value, it does not bear the burden of discernment that it promises..

The most well documented fact in all recorded human history is that Jesus. the Christ [Messiah]  has come in the flesh. The main question to be ascertained, however, is not whether the spirit [words or person] being tested confess that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh but, of essential importance, is whether Jesus Christ, “is here, from God, in the flesh.”

Ephesians 5:30-32

30 for we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Compare, here, scripture with scripture: “I speak concerning Christ and the church.” [the fleshly embodiment, here, of the body of Christ].

Jusus The Mesiah [Christ] has always and Forever existed as the WORD of God.    John 1:1-2

He was born of a virgin 2,025 years ago in Bethlehem,

is alive today, and is coming soon for His bride; the Church  (the redeemed).

1 Timothy 3:16

Authorized (King James) Version

16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

May the Holy Ghost  draw  you to the Lord Jesus Christ to receive Him as your Savior and LORD and to audibly  acknowledge Him as  such.  He will then  acknowledge you to His Father in heaven; The God of Abraham. Isaac and Jacob. You will then  also want to follow Him in believer’s baptism.

Jesus came from Galilee to Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist. But, John forbad [refused] Him and said, “I have need to be baptized of You and [yet] you are coming to me?” [for baptism] And Jesus answering him said, “Suffer it to be so [Allow this]: for thus it becometh [is fitting and right for] us to fulfil all righteousness.”

 Matthew 3:15

Baptism is not essential for salvation. Remember, Jesus said to the thief on the cross, who acknowledged Jesus’ innocence and said to him. “Remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And Jesus said to him, “Verily [Truly] I say to you, Today you shall be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43

The act of Baptism pictures the Lord’s death and resurrection and by extension through identification with Him, also pictures the believer’s death to self, atonement, and new, born-again life.

Baptism bears witness to the preaching of John the Baptist. He preached the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand and exhorted Repentance from sin and the Baptism of atonement. Therefore, the act of baptism is not required for salvation but is to be followed to fulfil all righteousness.

We desire to Worship Him in Spirit and in truth through prayer, Bible readings, scriptural meditation, gospel preaching, singing of sacred hymns and spiritual songs.

To this purpose, Daily Spurgeon, is dedicated.

This website is not intended, were it possible, to take the place of fellowship or congregational worship in a local body of believers.

2 Timothy 2:15

“Study to show yourself approved unto God, a worker that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing [accurately comprehending and sharing] the word of truth.” [God’s immutable

To Be a devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ is now my fervent desire. I trust Him  to save me eternally from sin to eternal life.

I will, with His help, follow Him in soul winning by any instrumentality He may choose inviting  and encouraging non-believers to repent ,  turn away from sin, look to Him and be saved.

We trust that all believers (old and new) will benefit in knowing that He will sustain, guide and build us up as we are being conformed to the image of Christ Jesus by the power of the Holy Ghost.

Daily Spurgeon is a collection of inspired devotional writings, prayers, hymns, sacred literature and encouragement by Charles Haddon Spurgeon, rightly dividing the Gospel [Good News] of JESUS the CHRIST [MESSIAH].

1 John 4:1-3

Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everything you hear] but [continually] be testing the spirit whether it is of God: because many false prophets have come out in the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesseth [confesses] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come out of God, is of God: and every spirit [voice] that confesseth not [doesn't confess] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Hence, I confess "Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh."

[All redeemed believers].

"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:

1 Timothy 3:16

You are invited to receive  the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior and Lord and to publicly acknowledge and declare Him to be so, so that He will acknowledge you to His Father; The God of Abraham. Isaac and Jacob. You are also invited to follow Him in believer’s baptism.

Jesus came from Galilee to Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist. But, John forbad [refused] Him and said, “I have need to be baptized of You and [yet] you are coming to me?” [for baptism]

And Jesus answering him said, “Suffer it to be so [Allow this]: for thus it becometh [is fitting and right for] us to fulfil all righteousness.”

 Matthew 3:15

Baptism is not required for salvation. Remember, Jesus said to the thief on the cross, who acknowledged Jesus’ innocence and said to him.

“Remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

And Jesus said to him,

“Verily [Truly] I say to you, Today you shall be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43

The act of Baptism pictures the Lord’s death, burial  and resurrection and by extension the believer’s death to self, atonement, and new, born-again life.

Baptism bears witness to the preaching of John the Baptist. He preached the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand and exhorted Repentance from sin and the Baptism of atonement. Therefore, the act of baptism is not required for salvation but is to be followed to fulfil all righteousness.

We now desire to Worship Him in Spirit and in truth through prayer, Bible readings, scriptural meditation, gospel preaching, singing of sacred hymns and spiritual songs.

To this purpose, DailySpurgeon, is offered.

This website is not intended, were it possible, to take the place of the personal gathering of believers fellowship or congregational worship in  local bodies of believers.

“Study to show yourself approved unto God, a worker that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing [accurately comprehending and sharing] the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15

Following the Lord Jesus Christ in His purpose for us is our desire. We trust Him for our salvation, guidance, strength and our eternal destiny. We desire to and will, with His help, follow Him in soul winning by use of DailySpurgeon or any instrumentality He may bestow. We invite and encourage non-believers to turn away from sin, look to Him and be saved.

We trust that believers (old and new) will benefit in knowing that He will sustain, guide and build us up as we are being conformed to the image of Christ Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The DailySpurgeon website consists  of devotional writings, prayers, sacred music  and sermons by Charles Haddon Spurgeon, that  rightly divide [share] God’s Word. The Sermons from The Metropolitan Tabernacle and sacred congregational music of worship and praise are to encourage believers to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Is dailyspurgeon.com   trustworthy?

Is it true?     Is it of God?

We apply this Scripture to discern whether what we hear is of God and therefore  true or not.

1 John 4:1-3  Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [voice] you hear but be testing the spirits [voices] whether they are of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit [voice]  of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come from God, is of God:  and every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit [voice] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Therefore, we should [must] test every voice [spirit] whether it is from God, bonified and trustworthy to be believed only if it  confesses [states]  that…

“Jesus Christ is here, in the flesh having come from God .”

Westcott & Hort and  Nestle & Aland do not use the Textus Receptus, rendered from the 5,321 extant Greek manuscripts,  known as  the Majority Text.

Instead, they used their own Greek  translations that they created with the use of only a handful [45] Greek manuscripts hand picked from  the 5,321 Majority Texts.

Their Greek translation  is faulty.  Translations other than King James overlook the original Greek verb “ictin” [To be] [is] (third person singular) that is translated in virtually all Majority Texts MT and  subsequently in the Textus Receptus [Received Text] therefore they   fail to correctly translate  the Greek verb  as, “Is come” [Is here].  (When it’s ranslated aright from the Received Text (TR)  in the King James Version only)

This  error occurs  because the  modern critical Greek text, created by Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Alland DO NOT follow the  MT [Majority Texts] of 5,321 Greek manuscripts that  affirm substantial majorityagreement with one another.   The TR  [Textus Receptus] is rendered from this overwhelming body of agreement from Majority Text of primary manuscript sources.

Both Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Aland have omitted the verb “is”, from the Greek text. This error may be described as res ipsa loquitur meaning the thing speaks for itself.

Therefore, the alternate Greek  fabrications generated by these two sources are not actually translations at all but their own  creations.

How do we know?

Because non-believers and false prophets can indeed, and often do, affirm that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. Practically anyone can  make this confession as the  birth of Jesus Christ is considered by virtually all respected historians to be the most well documented fact in history. That He has come is generally acknowledged by nonbelievers and believers alike.   However, here’s the point. There is a huge difference between “Has come” and “Is Here”. “Has come” falls woefully short of the essential and clear meaning of the confession “Is Here”. Just because something “has come” it can not be assumed, inferred or deduced that it also “is here”.

The “has come” assertion is not surprising nor is it, per se, a false statement. Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. However, this  fails to present a  Rubric necessary to discern whether the sprit [voice] being tested [tried] is from God or from false prophets in the spirit of antichrist.

Again, the expression “has come” rather than  “is come” [is here]  is not, per se a false statement.

However, it fails to deliver a valid hypothesis, proffered and inferred in the contextfor scriptural discernment. The failure here  to establish a logical and rhetorically sound rubric to judge  the question of whether spirits [words] are from God or from false prophets and the spirit of antichrist is absent.

Namely, “has come” is such a wide-spread belief held to be historically true by all, it does not provide a sound standard to discern whether a spirit [spoken or written words]  are from God or the spirit of Antichrist.

Almost anyone [or any spirit] can declare that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. But as you can see, this does not resolve the issue of whether something should or should not be believed or followed. Why?  Once again,  because almost anyone can and often does confess that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. This is an insufficient standard. The standard must be whether the confession that Jesus is here  alone, gives an efficacious standard to discern truth from error.

Again, while it is  true that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh, this alone is inadequate to discern truth from error. “Has come” does not mean the same thing as “is come [is here],  from God, in the flesh” and therefore fails to be efficacious for true spiritual discernment as outlined in 1 John Chapter 4: 1-3.

Furthermore, as we  compare  Scripture with  scripture in 1 John 4:1-3 and  Ephesians 5:30-32

we comprehend God’s message regarding  the body of Jesus Christ  being in the Flesh vis-à-vis The Body of Christ, The Corporate Church.

Compare  1 John 4:1-3   with Ephesians 5:30-32

1 John 4:1-3  Authorized (King James) Version

4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Ephesians 5:30-32
Authorized (King James) Version

30 for we are members of his [Jesus Christ’s]  body,  of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery:

but I speak concerning  Christ and the church.

[So, we are members of His body, flesh and bone, [we are] one flesh with Him,  The Body of Christ is (In the flesh); and is the incarnate Body of believers].

He was born of a virgin 2024 years ago and  He lives today.

He’s coming again,  for His bride; the Church [Blood-bought, Born-again members of His body].

When a believer considers the fact that they are members of the body of Christ [The Church] , they should acknowledge and readily confess that…

“Jesus Christ is here, from God,  in the flesh,” because  We are the Body of Christ; The Church, in the flesh!  Amen.

A SINNER’S PRAYER

TODAY”S  DEVOTION:

PRAYER 3, Part  3 of 5 August 14th
THE LOVE WITHOUT MEASURE OR END

We feel like singing all the time; we would take down our harp from the willows, if we had hung it there, and we would waken [strum] every string to the sweetest melody of praise unto [You] the Lord our God.  Yet, Lord, we cannot close [end] with praise, for we are obliged to come before Thee [You] with humble confession of sin.  We are  not worthy of the least of all these favors; we cannot say, “He is [we are] worthy for whom Thou shouldst [You should] do this thing,” nay, [oh no]  but we are altogether unworthy, and Thy gifts are according to the riches of Thy [Your] grace, for which again we praise Thee [You].

Lord, forgive  us all our sin. May Thy pardoned ones have a renewed sense of their [our]  acceptance in the Beloved. If any cloud has arisen to hide Thee from any believing eye, take that cloud away. If in our march through this world, so full of mire [slime] as it is, we have any spot on us, dear Savior, wash our feet with that blessed foot-bath, and then say to us,

“Ye are clean every whit.[every bit] ”

May we know it so, that there is no condemnation, no separation; sin is removed as to its separating as well as its destroying power, and may we enter into full fellowship with [You] God. May we walk in the light as [You] God is [are] in the light, and have fellowship with Him [with You God], while the blood of Jesus Christ, His [Your] Son, cleanseth [cleans] us from all sin. Let no child of Thine [Yours]  have any dead work upon his conscience, and may our conscience be purged [cleansed] from [all] dead works to serve [You] the living and true God.

And oh! if there are any that after having made the profession of religion [faith in Jesus Christ] have gone astray by any form of sin, Lord, restore them. If they have fallen by strong drink, if they have fallen by unchastity, [failed to be chaste ] if they have fallen by dishonesty; if, in any way, they have stained their garments, Oh! that Thy mighty grace might bring them back and put them yet  among the children.  But give them not up, [don’t give up on them] set them not as Admah, make them not as Zeboim, but let Thy repentings be kindled and Thy bowels [heart] of compassion be moved for them, and let them also be moved, and may they return with weeping and with supplication, and find Thee a God ready to pardon.

[In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.]

ANNECDOTE 15 -  August 14th  Christ Suffering in our Stead.

You know the story, the very excellent story, which I think was first told by Mr. [Dwight L.]  Moody, of the man who in the French war was drawn for a soldier [drafted into military service], but a friend stepped in, and was accepted as his substitute. That substitute served in the war till he was slain in battle. The man for whom he served [the same man] was drawn a second time, but he declined to serve.

He appeared before the court, and pleaded that he had been drawn [drafted] once, had served in the war by his substitute, and must now be regarded as dead, because his representative had been killed. He pleaded that his substitute’s service was practically [in fact] his service, and it is said that the law allowed his plea.

Assuredly it is according to divine equity, even if it be not according to human law. No criminal can be hanged a second time; one death is all the law requires: believers died in Christ unto sin once, and now they penally [for punishment] die no more. Our condemnation has spent itself upon [has been satisfied by] our gracious representative. [The Lord Jesus]

The full vials [containers] of divine wrath against sin have been poured upon the head of the great Shepherd, [The Lord Jesus Christ] that this sheep [I] might go free; and therein is our joy, our comfort, our security.

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.”
[Hallelujah!]  Romans 8:1

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK August 14th by C.H. Spurgeon 1834 – 1892
A CHILD’S CHASTISEMENT, [PUNISHMENT] NOT FOREVER

-And I will for this afflict [punish] the seed of David, but not for ever-  1 Kings 11:39
-Y yo afligire la simiente de David a causa de esto, mas no para siempre-1 Reyes 11:39

In the family of grace there is discipline, and that discipline is severe enough to make it an evil and a bitter thing to sin.  Solomon, turned aside  [was distracted into sin]  by his foreign wives, [who] had set up other gods and grievously provoked the God of his father; therefore,  ten parts out of twelve of the kingdom were rent [stripped] away, and set up as a rival [enemy] state. This was a sore affliction [painful punishment] to the house [tribe] of David, and it came upon that dynasty distinctly from the hand of God, as the result of unholy conduct.

The Lord will chasten His best beloved servants if they cease from full obedience to His laws: perhaps at this very hour such chastening [punishment]  is upon us.  Let us humbly cry  O Lord, show me wherefore thou contendest with me [show me, O Lord why I am, we are being disciplined].

What a sweet saving clause is that  [phrase]   “but not for ever”!

The punishment of sin is everlasting, but the fatherly chastisement of it in a child of God is but for a season. [a limited  time] The sickness, the poverty, the depression of spirit, will pass away when they have had their intended effect.

Remember, we are not under law, but under grace. The rod [stick] may make us smart [feel pain], but the sword shall not  [therefore] make us die. Our present grief is meant to bring us to repentance, that we may not be destroyed with the wicked.

Prayer: Thank You Lord that Your chastisement is just and will not be forever and that You know and will never exceed the exact measure of discipline needed for my, [our] correction.

I pray that You will show me my sin so that I will repent and receive Your forgiveness. Thank You Father, for your forgiveness and that I am already seen as “Not Guilty” by You  because Jesus already suffered and died to paid the debt in full for all my sin .  Thank You LORD in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

…  and pray that God will save souls thereby.

Pray also that believers rightly divide [faithfully analyze and preach] God’s eternal Word, preserved by God, Himself, that God so loved the world that He gave His only directly fathered Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but may be having eternal life. John 3:16    vis. Textus Receptus (majority of hundreds of manuscripts from Original Greek hold together in critical agreement)

Pray that all followers of Jesus Christ faithfully ptoclim God’s Word to every creature.

 in Jesus’ name,  Amen.

MORNING  August 14th

"Thou, Lord, hast made me glad through Thy work." —Psalm 92:4

—Por cuanto me has alegrado, oh Jehová, con tus obras—  Salmos 92:4

Do you believe that your sins are forgiven, and that Christ has made a full atonement for them? Then what a joyful Christian you ought to be! How you should live above the common trials and troubles of the world! Since sin is forgiven, can it matter what happens to you now?
[Martin] Luther said, "Smite, [Hit] Lord, smite, for my sin is forgiven; if you have but forgiven me, smite as hard as You will." And in a similar spirit you may say,

"Send sickness, poverty, losses, crosses, persecution, whatever you will, You have forgiven me, and my soul is glad." Christian, if you are thus saved, while you are glad, be grateful and loving.

Cling to the cross that took your sin away; serve Him who served you.

"I beseech you therefore, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Let not your zeal evaporate in some little ebullition  [joyfulness] of song. Show your love in expressive tokens [actions].  Love the brethren of Him who loved you.

If there be a Mephibosheth  anywhere [a crippled descendant of David’s close friend Jonathan]  Mephibosheth,  who is lame or handicapped, [to] help him for Jonathan's sake. If there be a poor tried believer, weep with him, and bear his cross for the sake of Him who wept for you and carried your sins. Since you are thus forgiven freely for Christ's sake, go and tell to others the joyful news of pardoning mercy.

Be not contented with this unspeakable blessing for yourself alone, but publish abroad the story of the cross. Holy gladness and holy boldness will make you a good preacher, and all the world will be a pulpit for you to preach in.

Cheerful holiness is the most forcible of sermons, but the Lord must give it [to] you. Seek it this morning before you go into the world.

When it is the Lord's work in which we rejoice, we need not be afraid of being too glad.

EVENING       August 14th

"I know their sorrows. " —Exodus 3:7
—Pues tengo conocidas sus angustias: —Exodo 3:7

THE child is cheered as he sings,

"This my father knows;"

and shall not we [shall we not] be comforted as we discern [see] that our dear Friend and tender soul-husband [The Lord Jesus]  knows all about us?

He is the Physician, and if He knows all, there is no need that the patient should know.

Hush, [be quiet] you silly, fluttering heart: prying, peeping, and suspecting! What you do not know now, you will know hereafter, and meanwhile Jesus, the beloved Physician, knows your soul in adversities. Why need [why should] the patient analyze all the medicine, or estimate all the symptoms?

This is the Physician's work, not mine; it is my business to trust, and his to prescribe. If He shall write His prescription in uncouth characters which I cannot read, I will not be uneasy on that account, but rely on His unfailing skill to make all plain in the result, however mysterious in the working.
He is the Master, and His knowledge is to serve us instead of our own [our knowledge serving ourselves]; we are to obey, not to judge: "The servant knoweth [knows] not what his lord doeth." Shall the architect explain his plans to every hodman  [brick-layers assistant] on the works [at the job site]? If he knows his own intent, is it not  [isn’t  it] enough?

The vessel [potter’s clay] on the wheel cannot guess to what pattern it shall be conformed, but if the potter understands his art, what matters the ignorance of the clay? My Lord must [should] not be cross-questioned [cross-examined] any more by one so ignorant as I am.

He is the Head. All understanding centers there. What judgment has the arm? [What kind of thinking can the arm do?] What comprehension has the foot? All the power to know lies in the head. Why should the member have a brain of its own when the head fulfills for it every intellectual office [function]? Here, then, must the believer rest his comfort in sickness, not that he himself can see the end, but that Jesus knows all.   Sweet Lord,   be forever eye, and soul, and head for us, and let us be content to know only what You choose to reveal. _____________________________________________

Create in Me a Clean Heart    Sing with the Maranatha Singers, won’t you?

Today’s PRAISE music selections came to mind from today’s Anecdote, Faith’s Checkbook, and todays date for the birth of a Godly Nation built on God’s Word, The Holy Bible.

OUTWARD practical holiness is a very precious mark of grace. I fear that many have perverted the doctrine of justification by faith [in Jesus Christ] in such a way as to treat good works with contempt; if so, they will receive everlasting contempt at the last great day.

If our hands are not clean, let us wash them in Jesus' precious blood, and so let us lift up pure hands to God.

But "clean hands" will not suffice, unless they are connected with "a pure heart."

True religion [faith] is heart-work. We may wash the outside of the cup and the platter as long as we please, but if the inward parts be filthy, we are filthy altogether in the sight of God, for our hearts are more truly ourselves than our hands are; the very life of our being lies in the inner nature, and hence the imperative need of purity within.

The pure in heart shall see God, all others are but blind bats.

The man who is born for heaven "hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity." All men have their joys by which their souls are lifted up;

the worldling [“carnal man”] lifts up his soul in carnal delights which are mere empty vanities; but

the saint loves more substantial things.

Like Jehoshaphat, he is lifted up in the ways of the Lord.

He who is content with husks [pig slop] will be reckoned [counted] with the swine.

Does the world satisfy you? Then you have your reward and portion in this life; make the most of it, for you will know no other joy.

"Nor sworn deceitfully. " The saints are men of honor still. The Christian man's word is his only oath; but that is as good as twenty oaths of other men.

False speaking will shut any man out of heaven, for a liar will not enter into God's house, whatever may be his professions or doings.

Reader, are we  condemned by false speaking or do we hope to ascend to the hill of the Lord [ZION] ?

Sing: We’re Marching to Zion

A SINNER’S  PRAYER

Whosoever shall call on the name of the lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

Pray and call on the name of the Lord Jesus, like this. Won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and hopeless to save myself. Without you and your blood that was shed for me and Your death on the cross  I would spend eternity in Hell’s fire.

Thank you Lord Jesus that You love me and died for me before I was born and that You have always loved me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father but by trusting in You.

Thank you, Father that You have caused me to see myself as I am; a lost sinner.  But,  because of Your love and goodness, You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in You, Lord Jesus.  You took my place on the cross and provided the way for  me to be forgiven. Thank You.
Thank You that You prompted a desire in me to believe in You, the only begotten  Son of God who died on the cross to be the sacrifice that would  atone for my sins.

Thank You, Father for Your love that allowed Jesus to suffer and die in my place. Thank You that You raised Jesus from the dead. He is RISEN and is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus I am free.

You raised Jesus from the dead, gave Him a Glorified body and after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with You  in heaven.

Thank you, Father,  for saving me in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.  Romans 6:11

Thank you, Holy Spirit, that you always give witness to and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ.
John 16:8-11

With all my heart, thank you Lord for saving me.
Live Your life in me,  Lord Jesus, in Your name I pray, Amen.

Dear Lord, May this endeavor  be effective and thrive in winning souls,
and may we also be loving and compassionate as we  encourage and comfort  all who
are needy, especially to those who are in the household of faith, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
Disclaimer: These mailing are not intended to attract unseemly praise for or exalt  the Lord’s servant, and founding minister of the Metropolitan Tabernacle Charles H. Spurgeon. He didn’t need it and wouldn’t have wanted it.  Rather, it is offe red as an encouragement, for seekers and believers who read, meditate on, pray-over and desire to obey through the power of The Holy Spirit, God’s inspired [God breathed] inerrant, revealed, immutable Word, the Bible.
Precaution: These devotional messages and prayers are not offered or intended to substitute for walking in the bright sunlight of continual companionship [communion, fellowship] in love with the Lord Jesus Christ [The Messiah].        Printed Prayer:  Should not be read or offered as a substitute for personal, fervent, effectual, heart-felt, prayer. It  is intended rather, to touch and warm the hearts of those who presently seek a season of fervent, authentic two-way, heart-to-heart  fellowship and prayer  with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit.
Preaching Preparation:  If you are studying or preparing a message from a specific, Biblical text, Please inform us so that we may  send you a Sermon from Mr. Spurgeon on the message, precept and application most closely aligned.
My Prayer: Dear Father,  Please  touch, lift up, encourage and teach this reader right now .  Bless all who minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May Your blessings and holy anointing fall fresh and continually upon each one who rightly divides and faithfully proclaims Your Word [The Bible] to every living creature. Please save many souls; and be glorified in everything You do In the name of our Redeemer, The Lord Jesus Christ,  Amen

This video presents the truth  for those who seek to learn about and use the providentially protected, preserved and immutable Holy Bible that is both inerrant [without error] and infallible and gives God alone, the utmost praise, and the greatest glory due to HIMSELF. Praise and worship are rightfully insisted upon and commanded in God’s  inspired [God-Breathed (Spoken) Word from God himself.

HOW HAS  THE MAJORITY TEXT MT  AND  THE TEXTUS RECEPTUS BEEN PROVIDENTIALLY PROTECTED AND PRESERVED?

The inspired, god breathed, immortal words, were  uttered, word-by-word, to the  holy prophets and apostles who were chosen of God and moved by the holy ghost. These words are protected and preserved in holy scripture and are written word-by-word and are immutable, [unchanged and unchangeable] without error, and infallible [incapable of mistake or heresy]. and for ever [sic] settled in heaven by God himself in the self-authenticating word of god, itself.

The Authorized (King James) Holy Bible.

ל  Lamed

89 For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.

 Psalm 119:89

Authorized (King James) Version:

21For the prophecy [prophecies] came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
2 Peter 1:21

Authorized (King James) Version:

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The Inside  Story of Westcott and Hort:

Brooke Foss Westcott and Fenton John Anthony Hort  (Text only)

URL:   https://www.febc.edu.sg/article/def_the_inside_story_of_westcott_and_hort

In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:

* Letters from close relatives are quoted in the Inside Story above

The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,

thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort or Nestle & Aland.is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on  defective text. Those who honor the Word of God must not promote any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is entirely  evil in itself, but because being contented to use a weakened version rather than the existing, preserved, inerrant unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has preserved for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it must  be to Him if His people now chose versions based on  the defective  Greek manuscript  invented  by either Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Aland.

SACRED LITER[jM1] ATURE:

ORIGINAL: The Pilgrim’s Progress  Pub. by Logos,1853 from 1678 Original by John Bunyan

REVISED TEXT by Barry E. Horner: The Pilgrim’s Progrefs [sic]...

in Pilgrim’s Progress. (The World’s most widely circulated Allegory by John Bunyan, also credited, by some, as being the world’s first English novel.

IT’S FREE. No subscription required. You may choose to read at your own pace, or you may want to view DailySpugeon.com for daily encounters with Pilgrim.)

"Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me [Spurgeon's comment] of Mr. Bunyan’s picture of [the town of] Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [melody] , for the king himself was come. Up to the castle of the heart he rode in triumph, and took his royal throne to be henceforth the sole lord and king of the city.

Christ in you is a right royal word. Christ swaying his scepter from the center of your being over every power and faculty, desire and resolve, bringing every thought into captivity to himself, oh, this is glory begun, and the sure pledge of heaven. Oh for more of the imperial sovereignty of Jesus; it is our liberty to be absolutely under his sway.

ADULT AUDIO Episodes and CHILDREN’S VIDEO Story Parts:

You may choose to read or listen to Pilgrim’s Progress as a bed time story.

It’s the world’s most famous allegory and is the all-time, world-wide best seller second only to the Bible. Some believe it to be the world’s first novel written in English.

It will bless, encourage and instruct pilgrims (readers and seekers) of all ages for a life-time.

DEVOTION for  November 14th  *A,D, 2025.

________________________________________________

All Bible versions NOT  translated from the Textus Receptus [The (traditional) Received Greek Text] include variant  readings that diminish the full  glory and the most Holy reverence due to Almighty GOD, that He preserves and protects it immutably  in the 1769 Edition of the 1611 King James Version  KJV Bible. This version is also known as the Authorized King James  Version  AKJV and the  Authorized Version AV. ALL GLORY is due to and must be given to the Omnipotent Lord of ALL.

The Geneva Bible was also faithfully translated from the Greek Textus Receptus and included  comments favorable to the Protestant Reformation  from inspired, devoted,  faithful Christian men of GOD; They were Puritan Believers known to be  beyond reproach.

This Bible was first brought to Plymouth Massachusetts  in the American Colonies by the Puritan Pilgrims guided by Captain Christopher Jones’s on the Mayflower sailing ship in 1620. A 1592 Edition of the Geneva Bible that belonging to a Mayflower passenger and the Governor of the Plymouth Colony (Later to become the State of   Massachusetts) by William Bradford and is on display at the Pilgrim Hall Museum in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the oldest continuously operating public museum in the United States.

The traditional Textus Receptus [Received Greek Text] unlike any other Greek Text was taken  from more than 5,321 original Majority Greek Manuscripts MT that agree 98% with one another. Other variant readings are translations invented by  either Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland. These fabricated Greek Texts were translated from only a handful [45] of Majority Text Manuscripts MT and  lack the  trustworthiness of  the inspired 1769 [1611] King James Version, KJV or the Geneva Bible and are the only two translations of the traditional, reliable, inspired, [GOD BREATHED] immutable and providentially and divinely protected Textus Receptus.

Bridge to Babylon The 1881 Textual Criticism Controversy

(1) URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIC5rUbs_-E&t=9s
             (169 mins.)

The Bridge to Babylon video presents evidence that tracks the explosion of more than 100 new versions of English translations  of the Bible. The continuing attempts to replace, add or take away from the 1769 King James Version of the Holy Bible does not  prevail because GOD Himself preserves and protects The  inspired, inerrant, immutable and infallible  Holy Word of GOD from all heresy, blasphemy, confusion , errors, additions, subtractions or changes.

 BCE/CE  vs.  BC/AD     What’s the difference?
defend the Truth.   Won’t you?

*A.D. does NOT mean “After Death” as many mistakenly believe. It is Latin for Anno Domini,  a  phrase adopted into English usage that means  “Year of [the/our] Lord”.  The complete  original phrase "anno Domini nostri Jesu Christi" means "in the year of our Lord Jesus Christ”. A.D. and together with B.C. Before Christ   is used to divide all history before and after the birth of Jesus the Christ [Messiah].   ...More

Can   DAILYSPURGEON  be trusted? Is it trustworthy?

Is it of God?

YES!   Here’s why.

1 John 4:1-3

Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everyone or !everything] you hear but be testing the spirit [voice] whether it is of God: because many false prophets have gone [come] out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses [avows] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come[who came] out of God, is of God: and every spirit that confesses not [doesn’t audibly avow] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

I therefore must and do audibly confess,  that Jesus Christ is come  [is here]  in the flesh.

[All translations of the Bible that use a Greek text other than the traditional and faithful Textus Receptus ignore the Greek word “ictin” [the Greek word that means “is” in English].  This omission causes the meaning of “is here” to  be changed from “is” come” [is here] to “has” come”.

This error is self-evident because non-believers, false prophets, atheists or heretics can, and frequently do, affirm that Jesus Christ “has come” [in the flesh].

While this is a true statement, when taken at face value, the  meaning  “has come” is clearly not the same as “is here”; which is the valid, scriptural test of  discernment to know if words are from the Spirit of God or the spirit of antichrist.

The most well documented fact in all of human history is that the Lord Jesus Christ [The Messiah]  “has” come in the flesh. However, the question of much greater importance,  is not whether the spirit [a spoken or written word] being considered and tested confesses that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh but, whether the confession being made affirms that Jesus Christ, “is come” [is here], from God, in the flesh.

Ephesians 5:30-32

30 for we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery: but I [The Apostle Paul]  speak concerning Christ and the church.  [The body of CHRIST]

_____________________________________________________________

“I speak concerning Christ and the church.” [the fleshly embodiment, here and now ,  of the body of Christ]. Because  followers of Jesus Christ are members of the incarnate Body of Christ [The Church] I affirm and avow that Jesus Christ is here [Not “Has come”] in the flesh.

Compare and consider [Meditate on] scripture with scripture:  Precept upon precept, Line upon line…
Isaiah 28:10-14

Isaiah Chapter 28

1Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!

2 Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one [crown of pride] , which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.

3 The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:

4 And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.

5 In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,

6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth [sits]  in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.

7 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

11 For with stammering [stuttering] lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

13 But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

14 Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.

15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, [totally  voided]  and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

19 From the time that it goeth [goes] forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only [merely] to understand the report.

20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.

21 For the Lord shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth  [very angry] as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.

22 Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord God of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.

23 Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.

24 Doth [does] the plowman plow all day to sow? doth [does] he open and break the clods of his ground?

25 When he hath [has] made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, [black’ cumin]  and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rie [rye] in their place?

26 For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.

27 For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod.

28 Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen.

29 This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.

Learn the difference;  defend the Truth.   Won’t you?

It’s a mistake to believe that A.D. means “After Death” as many do. A.D. is used with B.C. Before Christ  to divide all of history before and after the birth of Jesus Christ [The Messiah].   ...More

Our aim is to follow the Lord Jesus Christ who says, “I am the way, the truth and the life…”  John 14:6

Jesus was lifted up from the earth, hung on the cross and gave up his life to save sinners, John 12:32  Therefore,  we pray that many should not perish, but come believing in Jesus Christ and have everlasting  life.  This invitation is extended to all non-believers for them to turn away from sin, look to the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.  We pray also that all believers will be built up being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Romans 8:28-30to the Church, the body of Christ. It’s a website  containing selections from the writings of Charles H. Spurgeon, Sermons from The Metropolitan Tabernacle  and sacred music. It includes Bible  reading, prayers, anecdotes, devotional thoughts, as well as the singing of Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.

We trust in Your faithfulness to keep us faithful as we are being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ;  by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Romans 8:28-30

SERMON: November 14th

from Spurgeon’s Metropolitan Tabernacle  (London)

Christ Teaches Assurance   John 14:1-18   with Dr. Peter Masters

PRAISE: November 14th

Jesus, Name Above All Names…be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody [music] in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:18-19

PRAYER 15, Part 7 of 9 November 14th

THE PEACE OF GOD.

He has brought us into covenant [divine promise] with Him by a covenant which can never fail, so like David we may say this morning:

“Although my house be not so with God, yet He hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and sure.”

Lord, bless Thy Word throughout the world. Prosper all missions amongst the heathen, all work among the Mohammedans [Islamist]; and, oh! send Thy grace to the churches at home.

Turn the current of thought which sets so strong in the wrong direction, and bring men to love the simplicities of the Gospel [The Good news that  Jesus, the Messiah Saves sinners].

Remember our country in great mercy, and in all ranks and conditions of men do Thou [You do] give the blessing.

[We ask this In the wonderful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 104: November 14th   Folly of  “the Blues.” [being depressed]
A sick and suffering brother rebuked me the other day for being cast down. [depressed]

He said to me, “We ought never to show the white feather: but I think you do sometimes.” I asked him what he meant, and he replied, “You sometimes seem to grow [become] desponding and low. Now I am near to die, but I have no clouds and no fears.” I rejoiced to see him so joyous, and I answered, “That is right, my brother, blame me as much as you please for my unbelief, I richly deserve it.” “Why,”  [“Well,”]  he said, “you are the father of many of us. Did you not bring me and my friend over yonder to Christ?  “If you get low in spirit after so much blessing, you ought to be ashamed of yourself.”  I could say no other than,

“I am ashamed of myself, and I desire to be more confident in the future.”

Brethren, we must hope, and not fear.

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK  November 14th

THE NAME TO USE by  C.H. Spurgeon 1834-1892

-If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it-   John 14:14
-Si algo [cualesquiera]  pidiereis en mi nombre, yo lo haré-  Juan 14:14

What a wide promise! Anything! Whether large or small, all my needs are covered by that word   -anything.-  Come, my soul, be free at the mercy seat, and hear thy Lord saying to thee,  -Open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.-  What a wise promise! We are always to ask in the name of Jesus. While this encourages us, it also honors Him. This is a constant plea. Occasionally every other plea is darkened, especially such as we could draw from our own relation to God, or our experience of His grace; but at such times the name of Jesus is as mighty at the throne as ever, and we may plead it with full assurance. What an instructive prayer!

I may not ask for anything to which I cannot put Christ’s  hand and seal.

I dare not use my Lord’s name to a selfish or willful [what I want] petition. I may only use my
Lord’s  name to prayers which He would Himself pray if He were in my case [circumstance]. It is a high privilege to be authorized to ask in the name of Jesus as if Jesus Himself asked; but our love to Him will never allow us to set that name where He would not have set [put] it.   Am I asking for that which Jesus approves?

Dare I put His seal [name] to my prayer?  Then I have that which I seek [desire] of the Father.

Prayer: Thank You Lord Jesus that You will do anything we ask, in Your name; in harmony with your authority and will. Help us to associate Your name always in ways that bring only honor and glory to You.  I ask this in Your Holy name, Lord Jesus,  Amen.

… and pray for the saving of souls and strengthening  of believers.

The Lord … is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9

Pray also that believers will be taught by the Holy Spirit to rightly divide God’s eternal Word preserved by God, Himself.

John 3:16
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten [supernaturally fathered] Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but may be having eternal life.

vis. Textus Receptus [The Received Greek Text] (From an overwhelming majority of extant New Testament Greek manuscripts)

The Incomplete codices Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are not included in the majority texts [Masoretic and Textus Receptus]. They present variant and ambiguous readings from that of  the overwhelmingly well-established majority texts.  They disagree often with one another as well as with the settled majority texts thus, providing a pretext attempting to justify the need for additional translations.  These unsettled differences and bolstering of certain sectarian doctrine [dogma] have produced ambiguities, many variant readings and confusion from the explosion of unending, new translations.

Publishers cash-in by marketing the “new and better”,  never ceasing, English translations of The Bible, [World’s best seller of all time] with too little consideration for maintaining the fidelity and accuracy already settled from the majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the Textus Receptus Greek.

God, Himself, has and will always preserve His immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful Word.

MORNING  November 14th
"I will cut off them that worship and that swear by the Lord, and that [also] swear by [King]  Malcham.[national idol of the Ammonites] "— Zephaniah 1:5

 Exterminaré a los que se inclinan jurando por Jehová y jurando por su rey [Malcus]  Sofonías 1:5

SUCH persons thought themselves safe because they were with both parties: they went with the followers of Jehovah, but bowed at the same time to Malcham.

But duplicity is abominable with God—His soul hates hypocrisy [double mindedness]. The idolater who distinctly gives himself to his false god, has one sin less than he who brings his polluted and detestable sacrifice to the temple of the Lord while His heart is with the world and its sins.

To hold [keep company] with the hare [rabbit] and run with the hounds is a dastard's  [evil and cowardly]   policy. In the common matters of daily life a double-minded man is despised, but in religion he is loathsome to the last degree. The penalty pronounced in the verse before us is terrible, but it is well deserved; for how should divine justice spare the sinner, who knows the right, approves it, and professes to follow it, but all the while loves the evil and gives it dominion in his heart?

My soul, search yourself this morning, and see whether you are guilty of double dealing. You profess to be a follower of Jesus—do you truly love Him?  Is your heart right with God? Are you of the family of old Father Honest, or are you a relative of Mr. By-ends [characters “personified” in John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress  the one [Father Honest] portraying complete honesty but the other [Mr. By-ends]  believed that the end justified the means]?   [For] A name to live is of little value if it be indeed dead in trespasses and sins. To have one foot on the land of truth, and another on the sea of falsehood, will involve a terrible fall and a total ruin.[Jesus] Christ will be all or nothing.  God fills the whole universe, and hence there is no room for another god; if He reigns in my heart, then there will be no space for another reigning power. Do I rest alone on Jesus crucified and live alone for Him? Is it my desire to do so? Is my heart set on so doing? If so, blessed be the mighty grace which has led me to salvation; and if not so,

0 Lord, pardon my sad offense, and unite my heart to fear Your name.

 EVENING   November 14th

"And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn. "— Genesis 29:26
—Y Labán respondió: No se hace así en nuestro lugar, que se dé la menor antes de la mayor— Génesis 29:26

WE do not excuse Laban for his dishonesty, but we do not hesitate to learn from the custom [his culture] which he quoted as his excuse. There are some things that must be taken in order, and if we would win the second we must secure the first. The second may be the more lovely in our eyes, but the rule of the heavenly country must stand, and the elder must be married first.

For instance, many men desire the beautiful and well favored Rachel of joy and peace in believing,  but they must first be wedded [married] to the tender-eyed  Leah of repentance. Every one falls in love with happiness, and many would cheerfully serve twice [two times] seven years to enjoy it, but  according to the rule of the Lord's kingdom, the Leah of real holiness must be beloved of our soul before the Rachel of true happiness can be attained.

Heaven stands not first but second, and only by persevering to the end can we win a portion in it. The cross must be carried before the crown can be worn. We must follow our Lord in His humiliation, or we shall never rest with Him in glory.

My soul, what do you say, are you so vain as to hope to break through the heavenly rule? Do you hope for reward without labor, or honor without toil? Dismiss the idle expectation, and be content to take the ill-favored things for the sake of the sweet love of Jesus, which will recompense for all.

In such a spirit, laboring and suffering, you will find bitters grow sweet, and hard things easy. Like Jacob, your years of service will seem to you but a few days for the love you have for Jesus; and when the dear hour of the wedding feast shall come, all your toils shall be as though they had never been

—an hour with Jesus will make up for ages of pain and labor.

Jesus, to win Thyself so fair,

Thy cross I will with gladness bear:
Since so the rules of heaven ordain,

The first I'll wed the next to gain.

MISSION STATEMENT:

Ecclesiastes 12:13

… Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Our solemn  aim is to trust and obey the Lord Jesus in everything. We must rely upon God completely to achieve His purposes for and through us.

Loving and worshiping God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength in Spirit and in truth is a labor of love and duty of every believer. Desire will grow stronger as we give ourselves to prayer, reading and meditating on God’s Word, gathering ourselves together to hear Gospel preaching,  the singing of Psalms, sacred hymns and spiritual songs.

We purpose, with God’s help,  to reach the lost, comfort, strengthen and encourage believers, and  rightly divide God’s Word to proclaim the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ to every creature.

The Holy Bible is God’s eternal, inerrant, infallible, immutable revealed and divinely preserved Word.  It is His completed scripture  of all revealed truth.  He brings guidance and the knowledge of His will to us personally and to each local body of Christian believers through His Word. With God’s help and empowerment, we will read, study, meditate-on, trust-in  and obey God’s Holy Bible and encourage others to do the same. We hold it to be the supreme authority and the preeminent and divinely established precedent [ Stare Decisis   Latin: to stand by that which is decided, the legal doctrine of precedence, literally "to stand by decided matters"] in all things.

Therefore, the purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to publish the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature. And, to serve all, in love, especially those in the household of faith. We are compelled by this purpose to follow, and rightly apply and proclaim, God’s Holy Word, the Bible, as God’s divinely preserved truth; being the essential authority and goal of this ministry.

The Metropolitan Tabernacle:
The  inspired preaching, teaching, soul winning and writings of Charles Haddon Spurgeon were solely based, empowered and inspired by God’s Holy Word the Bible.  His written sermons and devotional messages continue to benefit today’s readers through authentic  Gospel preaching and sound biblical teaching. His ministry continues to flourish from the original (Spurgeon’s)  Metropolitan Tabernacle a church begun in 1650.  The present  building was constructed in 1861 and rebuilt after the destruction during the second world war.

Mission Aim: Spurgeon's sermons and devotional messages have edified the church body and have been a great benefit, to all readers for many years.  We pray they will be useful to strengthen personal discipleship in every believer and to spread the Gospel [Good news] of Jesus Christ, the Messiah to every person.

The Gospel in brief:

  • God is infinitely Holy and good. (He is the God of all grace.  He is not willing that any should perish)

  • Man is bad. (Totally depraved, hopeless and lost)

  • God made provision (Through the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ to save each lost one who will come)  Whosoever will [whoever wants to] may come. This means you too.  After you come, you will see that you were saved before the foundation of the world)

Menu and Calendars:  (Scroll up on Home page of DailySpurgeon.com to follow daily worship through preaching,  praying, scripture reading, meditation and the singing of sacred songs.  Fidelity to all of Spurgeon’s original text and calendared dates have been carefully maintained.

Spurgeon Publications from which  DailySpurgeon  Print Selections have been made:

  • C.H. Spurgeon Prayers

  • Spurgeon’s  Illustrative Anecdotes

  • Faith’s Checkbook

  • Morning & Evening

These Spurgeon publications display an unmatched legacy of Gospel preaching and devotional encouragement from scripture from the anointed heart of Charles H. Spurgeon   His preaching was heard by multiple thousands in the 1800’s and he continues to be widely read and often quoted today.

Soul Winning is the chief goal of this ministry.  Charles Spurgeon, beloved former-pastor of the Metropolitan Tabernacle  demonstrated a life time of gospel preaching and Soul Winning.  You may live-stream worship services from the Tabernacle with Dr. Peter Masters, pastor since 1960 in London, U.K.  Join us, won’t you?

Worldly influence, music and uncertain riches must not compromise Gospel Preaching and Worship and believers must adhere to the preaching of sound scriptural doctrine and sacred music to worship in spirit and in truth.

Our Prayer: Dear Lord, use any and all means you choose to save souls. Empower us to serve and minister to the lost and those in need, especially those in the household of faith. Revive, encourage, strengthen, and edify us as we  follow you. Help us to  share You, your lovingkindness, and the Gospel of your salvation.  May we pray fervently with  fasting according to your will and may we be the church triumphant in soul winning, and in all things holy as we follow You. In Jesus Christ name, Amen.

We offer ourselves with gratitude for your sacrifice at calvary, given to provide eternal salvation for all who believe. Accept our thanks for these and all other blessing we humbly ask in Thy name, Amen.

Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not solicit praise of  Charles H. Spurgeon or his writing or preaching.  He didn’t need it or want it then and wouldn’t want it now.  Our aim is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM only and Him crucified.

Precaution: These Messages and prayers are not, nor can they be, a substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus. Nor do they replace personal reading and meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word or the gathering together of local believers.

The Authorized King James Bible (AKJV), known also as the Authorized Version (AV), is the preferred English Bible because its accuracy and fidelity to the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text)  avoids doctrinal error, ungrounded nuances, editorial notes or unsupportable readings 4efrom other codices.  It is distinguished further by the requirement of Great Britain that all King James bibles be printed only by the Cambridge University Press, the Crown’s authorized printer. By order of the Crown, no other printing of a King James Bible may be imported into or copied in Great Britain.

Printed Prayer: The daily prayer in print does not substitute for personal, fervent, effectual, heart-felt, prayer. It is, rather, to warm the hearts of those who are seeking a season of fervent, authentic two-way, heart-to-heart  fellowship and prayer with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Revelation from God during  prayer is consistent with His revealed Word, the Bible.

Preaching Preparation:  If you would like to review a Spurgeon sermon parallel to biblical texts you may be preparing to teach or preach, please let us know the scripture reference and topic. We will research and send you a  selection with the same scripture reference or the  most closely related topic from Spurgeon’s work. It is our joy to make this available asking only that you give proper authorship credit. [Honor to whom honor is due…]  Thank you.

My Prayer: Dear Father,  please touch, lift up, encourage and teach all who read this.  Bless all ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May Your blessing and holy anointing fall fresh and continually upon each one who rightly divides and proclaims Your Word. Please save many souls;  all glory to You. I pray this in the name of our only Redeemer, The Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

A SINNERS PRAYER    (FOR WHO SO EVER):
Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

So, pray and call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved   … won’t you?

(Pray out loud and from your heart)

“Lord Jesus, I’m lost.  I’m a selfish, sinful and hopeless sinner.  I cannot save myself. Without you and your willing sacrifice on the cross  to save me, I would be bound for Hell. In my sinfulness I reflect my fallen nature.  Without Your grace, I’m  totally depraved and I sin because I am a sinner. Please save me.

I now realize that doing my best, or being good, or as good as I can, or being better than others or rationalizing or making excuses for myself can never save me.

I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me. I call on You right now to save me.  You died on the cross in my place to pay  for my sin. You say in Your word,  “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21. I call  on Your name, right now Lord Jesus.  I come to You,  just as I am, trusting You to save me. I look to you  as my Lord and Savior.
Please forgive me of all my sin. I’m sorry for each one. Thank you, Lord,  for saving me.  You paid the price, in full,  for all of my sins and the sins of the whole world once and for all by suffering and dying on the cross.
Thank You that You loved me so much that you would die for me.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for saving me.  Thank You that You  bringing me to see Your love for me and that the wages of sin is death but eternal life is mine through the Lord Jesus Christ who suffered and died as the sacrifice  Lamb of God.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead victorious over sin, death and the grave and that in Him I can now be, for all eternity, born again.

Thank you for saving  me. Guide me by the Holy Spirit into all truth and make me into the very image of Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ, my Savior and Lord.   In His name I pray, Amen.

May we celebrate your new birth with you, the angels in heaven and our local body of believers.  Angels in heaven rejoice in the redemption of each sinner who comes to the Lord Jesus.  Write us, won’t you?

A  SINNER’S   PRAYER:

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

Pray and call on the name of the Lord Jesus.

Pray like this, won’t you? :

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner hopeless without You.  I will never be able to save myself. Without your death on the cross to pay my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned in Hell. By nature  and  practice I am a sinner. I’m  totally depraved and  I sin because I am a sinner. Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best or being as good as possible, or being better than other people or having good excuses can never save me.
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You,  by name,  Lord Jesus, right now to save me.  You died on the cross in my place to pay  for my sin. Your Word says,  “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21. Thank You, Lord.

Right now, I surrender my sinful self  to You,  just as I am, Lord Jesus. I trust You to forgive me and save me and be my Lord and Savior.
Please forgive me for all my sins. I’m sorry for every sin (bad thoughts, words and things I have done) and look to You to forgive me of them all.  I need your strength to overcome sin’s temptations. Thank you for forgiving me.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross.

Thank you Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was born and that You love me still.

Thank you Heavenly Father that You have made the way  of  redemption, forgiveness and  atonement for me  and have drawn me away from sin and death into Life  in Your only begotten son.  He took  my place and suffered my punishment.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. In Christ Jesus there is therefore now no condemnation.

Thank You for saving me heavenly Father and for sending the Holy Spirit for my guidance, comfort  and solemn instruction into all truth,  Amen.”

With all my heart, I thank you Lord Jesus for saving me. In your name, Lord Jesus I pray, Amen.

Please allow us to rejoice over your new birth in the presence of angels in heaven who rejoice over one sinner that repents. Luke 15:10
