DEVOTION for  November 18th  *A,D, 2025. Written and calendared for this date by Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892.

________________________________________________

All Bible versions NOT  translated from the Textus Receptus [The (traditional) Received Greek Text] include variant  readings that diminish the full  glory and the most Holy reverence due to Almighty GOD, that He preserves and protects it immutably  in the 1769 Edition of the 1611 King James Version  KJV Bible. This version is also known as the Authorized King James  Version  AKJV and the  Authorized Version AV. ALL GLORY is due to and must be given to the Omnipotent Lord of ALL.

The Geneva Bible was also faithfully translated from the Greek Textus Receptus and included  comments favorable to the Protestant Reformation  from inspired, devoted,  faithful Christian men of GOD; They were Puritan Believers known to be  beyond reproach.

This Bible was first brought to Plymouth Massachusetts  in the American Colonies by the Puritan Pilgrims guided by Captain Christopher Jones’s on the Mayflower sailing ship in 1620. A 1592 Edition of the Geneva Bible that belonging to a Mayflower passenger and the Governor of the Plymouth Colony (Later to become the State of   Massachusetts) by William Bradford and is on display at the Pilgrim Hall Museum in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the oldest continuously operating public museum in the United States.

The traditional Textus Receptus [Received Greek Text] unlike any other Greek Text was taken  from more than 5,321 original Majority Greek Manuscripts MT that agree 98% with one another. Other variant readings are translations invented by  either Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland. These fabricated Greek Texts were translated from only a handful [45] of Majority Text Manuscripts MT and  lack the  trustworthiness of  the inspired 1769 [1611] King James Version, KJV or the Geneva Bible and are the only two translations of the traditional, reliable, inspired, [GOD BREATHED] immutable and providentially and divinely protected Textus Receptus.

Bridge to Babylon The 1881 Textual Criticism Controversy

             (169 mins.)

The Bridge to Babylon video presents evidence that tracks the explosion of more than 100 new versions of English translations  of the Bible. The continuing attempts to replace, add or take away from the 1769 King James Version of the Holy Bible does not  prevail because GOD Himself preserves and protects The  inspired, inerrant, immutable and infallible  Holy Word of GOD from all heresy, blasphemy, confusion , errors, additions, subtractions or changes.

 BCE/CE  vs.  BC/AD     What’s the difference?
defend the Truth.   Won’t you?

*A.D. does NOT mean “After Death” as many mistakenly believe. It is Latin for Anno Domini,  a  phrase adopted into English usage that means  “Year of [the/our] Lord”.  The complete  original phrase "anno Domini nostri Jesu Christi" means "in the year of our Lord Jesus Christ”. A.D. and together with B.C. Before Christ   is used to divide all history before and after the birth of Jesus the Christ [Messiah].   ...More

Can   DAILYSPURGEON  be trusted? Is it trustworthy?

Is it of God?

YES!   Here’s why.

1 John 4:1-3

Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everyone or !everything] you hear but be testing the spirit [voice] whether it is of God: because many false prophets have gone [come] out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses [avows] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come[who came] out of God, is of God: and every spirit that confesses not [doesn’t audibly avow] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

I therefore must and do audibly confess,  that Jesus Christ is come  [is here]  in the flesh.

[All translations of the Bible that use a Greek text other than the traditional and faithful Textus Receptus ignore the Greek word “ictin” [the Greek word that means “is” in English].  This omission causes the meaning of “is here” to  be changed from “is” come” [is here] to “has” come”.

This error is self-evident because non-believers, false prophets, atheists or heretics can, and frequently do, affirm that Jesus Christ “has come” [in the flesh].

While this is a true statement, when taken at face value, the  meaning  “has come” is clearly not the same as “is here”; which is the valid, scriptural test of  discernment to know if words are from the Spirit of God or the spirit of antichrist.

The most well documented fact in all of human history is that the Lord Jesus Christ [The Messiah]  “has” come in the flesh. However, the question of much greater importance,  is not whether the spirit [a spoken or written word] being considered and tested confesses that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh but, whether the confession being made affirms that Jesus Christ, “is come” [is here], from God, in the flesh.

Ephesians 5:30-32

30 for we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery: but I [The Apostle Paul]  speak concerning Christ and the church.  [The body of CHRIST]

_____________________________________________________________

“I speak concerning Christ and the church.” [the fleshly embodiment, here and now ,  of the body of Christ]. Because  followers of Jesus Christ are members of the incarnate Body of Christ [The Church] I affirm and avow that Jesus Christ is here

[Not “Has come”] in the flesh.

Compare and consider [Meditate on] scripture with scripture:  Precept upon precept, Line upon line…
Isaiah 28:10-14

Isaiah Chapter 28

1Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!

2 Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one [crown of pride] , which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.

3 The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:

4 And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.

5 In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,

6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth [sits]  in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.

7 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

11 For with stammering [stuttering] lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

13 But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

14 Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.

15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, [totally  voided]  and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

19 From the time that it goeth [goes] forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only [merely] to understand the report.

20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.

21 For the Lord shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth  [very angry] as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.

22 Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord God of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.

23 Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.

24 Doth [does] the plowman plow all day to sow? doth [does] he open and break the clods of his ground?

25 When he hath [has] made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, [black’ cumin]  and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rie [rye] in their place?

26 For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.

27 For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod.

28 Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen.

29 This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.

DEVOTION for  November 18th  *A,D, 2025. Written and calendared for this date by Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892.

*A.D. does NOT mean “After Death”.  It actually abbreviates Anno Domini;

Latin words adopted into English that literally translate:
“Year of our Lord”.  The Lord Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh,
was born of a virgin  2025  years ago.
He’s  alive  today, has always existed as God’s eternal and everlasting Word,
and will soon return for his bride, the Church
[The body of all redeemed believers in Jesus Christ].

1 Timothy  3:16    (KJV)

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,
seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, [unbelievers]
believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Please join us in worship of the Lord Jesus Christ in spirit and in truth; through prayer,  reading, meditation and obedience to God’s word, hearing and edification of gospel preaching and teaching  and the singing of sacred music; all to support active discipleship, (learning and teaching others) to evangelize the good news and follow the Lord Jesus.

DailySpurgeon is not intended, nor were it possible to replace Face-to-face fellowship with other believers at scheduled times of corporate worship, prayer meetings, Bible study and fellowship. Rather, it is a resource for personal daily prayer, meditation, personal praise and worship, reflection and devotional thought supporting active discipleship conforming us to the likeness of the Lord Jesus Christ, our redeemer.

DailySpurgeon  is a collection of daily selections from Charles Haddon Spurgeon’s published work (1834-1892) from his faithful gospel preaching and devotional teaching ministry that continues to expand today; additionally,  a link to a daily video sermon by Dr. Peter Masters from The Metropolitan Tabernacle in London (founded by Spurgeon); and, sacred music and hymns that have been loved and sung in worship services of Christian congregations for hundreds of years.

The purpose of DailySpurgeon is to encourage personal and small group study and worship.  It is e-mailed daily.  It’s also offered online at dailyspurgeon.com  for your use and for SHARING with others.

“Study to show yourself  approved unto God, a worker that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing [accurately and correctly sharing] the word of truth.”   2 Timothy 2:15

PRAYER 16, Part  2 of 8
HE  EVER LIVETH.

[Oh Father,] We have deeply felt our entire unworthiness even to lift up our eyes to the place where Thine honor dwelleth [Your honor dwells]. Thou hast [You have] made us to die to our self-righteousness. We pray now because we have been quickened [born again]; we have received a new life, and the breath of that life is prayer. We have risen from the dead, and we also make intercession through the life which Christ has given us. We plead with [You] the living God with living hearts because He [the Lord Jesus] has  made us to live.

[Help us to continually breathe prayer to You. We breathe out this prayer to You in the name of the Lord Jesus, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 108:  God’s Special Care.

I think that many of you may say, “Though I am least of all his saints, yet in some respects the Lord hath specially blessed me.” I believe that every flower in a garden, which is tended by a wise gardener, could tell of some particular care that the gardener takes of it.

He does for the dahlia what he does not for the sunflower; somewhat is wanted by the rose that is not required by the lily; and the geranium calls for an attention which is not given to the honeysuckle.

Each flower wins from the gardener a special culture. The vine has a dressing all its own, and the apple-tree a pruning peculiar to itself.

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK  November 18th  CLEARLY SUPERNATURAL

-In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them-

Zechariah 12:8
-En aquel dia Jehova defenderá al morador de Jerusalem: y el que entre ellos fuere flaco, en aquel tiempo será como David; y la casa de David [como Dios] , como el angel de Jehova delante de ellos-  Zacarías 12:8

One of the best methods of the Lord’s defending His people is to make them strong in inward might [internally strong]. Men are better than walls, and faith is stronger than castles.  The Lord can take the feeblest among us and make him like David, the champion of Israel. Lord, do this with me! Infuse thy power into me, and fill me with sacred courage that I may face the giant with sling and stone, confident in God. The Lord can make His greatest champions far mightier than they are: David can be as God, as the angel of Jehovah. This would be a marvelous development, but it is possible, or it would not be spoken of. O Lord, work thus with the best of us and our leaders! Show us what thou art [You are] able to do; namely, to raise thy faithful servants to a height of grace and holiness which shall be clearly supernatural!

Lord, dwell in thy saints, and they shall be as God; put thy might into them, and they shall be as the living creatures who dwell in the presence of Jehovah. Fulfill this promise to thine [Your] entire church in this our day, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

Prayer: Thank You Lord  that You defend me in the day of adversity. Even though I am feeble You make me as David and David’s family as God, I receive this in the name of Your Son, the Lord Jesus. Amen.

… and pray for the saving of souls and strengthening  of believers.

The Lord … is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9

Pray also that believers will be taught by the Holy Spirit to rightly divide God’s eternal Word preserved by God, Himself.

John 3:16
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten [supernaturally fathered] Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but may be having eternal life.

vis. Textus Receptus [The Received Greek Text] (From an overwhelming majority of extant New Testament Greek manuscripts)

The Incomplete codices Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are not included in the majority texts [Masoretic and Textus Receptus]. They present variant and ambiguous readings from that of  the overwhelmingly well-established majority texts.  They disagree often with one another as well as with the settled majority texts thus, providing a pretext attempting to justify the need for additional translations.  These unsettled differences and bias toward certain sectarian doctrine [dogma] have produced ambiguities, many variant readings and confusion from the explosion of unending, new translations.

Publishers cash-in by marketing the “new and better”,  never ceasing, English translations of The Bible, [World’s best seller of all time] with too little consideration for maintaining the fidelity and accuracy already settled from the majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the Textus Receptus Greek.

God, Himself, has and will always preserve His immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful Word.

MORNING    November 18th

"A spring shut up, a fountain sealed. "— Song of Solomon 4:12

- Fuente cerrada, fuente sellada Cantares 4:12

IN this metaphor [word picture], which has reference to the inner life of a believer, we have very plainly the idea of  secrecy. It is a spring shut up [protected and secured]: just as there were springs in the East, over which an edifice [structure] was built, so that none could reach them save those who knew the secret entrance; so is the heart of a believer when it is renewed by grace: there is a mysterious life within which no human skill can touch. It is a secret that no other man knows;  nay, which [no, not even] the very man who is the possessor of it cannot tell to his neighbor. The text includes not only secrecy, but
separation. It is not the common spring of which every passerby may drink; it is one kept and preserved from all others; it is a fountain bearing a particular mark—a king's royal seal, so that all can perceive that it is not a common fountain, but a fountain owned by a proprietor, and placed specially by itself alone. So is it with the spiritual life. The chosen of God were separated in the eternal decree [sovereign declaration]; they were [are] separated by God in the day of redemption; and they are separated by the possession of a life which others have not [don’t have]; and it is impossible for them to feel at home with the world, or to delight in its pleasures. There is also the idea of sacredness.

The spring shut up is preserved for the use of some special person: and such is the Christian's heart. It is a spring [of life-giving water] kept for Jesus. Every Christian should feel that he has God's seal upon him, and he should be able to say with Paul, "From henceforth let no man trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus."

Another prominent idea is that of security. Oh! how sure and safe is the inner life of the believer! If all the powers of earth and hell could combine against it, that immortal principle must still exist, for He who gave it pledged His life.

EVENING    November 18th
"Thou art from everlasting. "— Psalm 93:2
— Tú eres eternalmente— Salmos 93:2

[Jesus] CHRIST is everlasting. Of Him we may sing with David, "Thy [your] throne, 0 God, is for ever and ever." Rejoice, believer, in Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever. Jesus always was. The Babe born in Bethlehem was united to the Word which was in the beginning by whom all things were made. The title by which Christ revealed Himself to John in Patmos was, "Him which is, and which was, and which is to come."  If He were not God from everlasting, we could not so devoutly love Him; we could not feel that He had any share in the eternal love which is the fountain of all covenant blessings; but since He was from all eternity with the Father, we trace the stream of divine love to Himself equally with His Father and the blessed [Holy] Spirit.

As our Lord always was, so also He is for evermore. Jesus is not dead; "He ever liveth [lives forever] to make intercession [intercedes to God] for us." Resort [go] to [refresh yourself with]  Him in all your times of need, for He is waiting to bless you still. Moreover, Jesus our Lord ever shall be [shall be forever]. If God should spare your life to fulfill your full day of threescore years and ten, you will find that His cleansing fountain is still opened [available], and His precious blood has not lost its power; you shall find that the Priest [Jesus Christ] who filled the healing fount with His own blood, lives to purge [set you free] you from all iniquity.

When only your last battle remains to be fought, you shall find that the hand of your conquering Capitan has not grown feeble—the living Savior shall cheer the dying saint. When you enter heaven, you shall find Him there bearing the dew of His youth; and through eternity the Lord Jesus shall still remain the perennial spring of joy, and life, and glory to His people.

Living waters may you draw [take] from this sacred well!

Jesus always was, He always is, He always shall be. He is eternal in all His attributes, in all His offices, in all His might, and willingness to bless, comfort, guard, and crown His chosen people._________________________________________

                 A  SINNER’S  PRAYER

Whosoever shall call on the name of the lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

Pray and call on the name of the Lord Jesus, like this. Won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and hopeless to save myself. Without your death on the cross  I would spend eternity in Hell’s fire.

Thank you Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was born and that You have always loved me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father but by You.

Thank you, Father that You have caused for me to see myself as I am; a lost sinner.  But,  because of Your love and goodness, You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in You, Lord Jesus.  You took my place on the cross and provided the way for  me to be forgiven. Thank You.
Thank You that You prompted a desire in me to believe in You, the only begotten  Son of God who died on the cross to be the sacrifice that would  atone for my sins.

Thank You, Father for Your love that allowed Jesus to suffer and die in my place. Thank You that You raised Jesus from the dead. He is RISEN and is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus I am free.

You raised Jesus from the dead, gave Him a Glorified body and after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with You  in heaven.

Thank you, Father,  for saving me in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Romans 6:11

Thank you, Holy Spirit, that you always give witness to and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ.
John 16:8-11

With all my heart, thank you Lord for saving me.
Live Your life in me,  Lord Jesus, in Your name I pray, Amen.

MISSION STATEMENT
Our solemn  aim is to trust and obey the Lord Jesus in everything. This  relies completely upon God to achieve His purpose for us through His means. We purpose, with God’s empowerment and  help,  to save the lost, comfort, strengthen and encourage believers, and  rightly divide God’s Word to proclaim the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ to every creature.

The Holy Bible is God’s eternal, inerrant, infallible, immutable revealed and divinely preserved Word.  It is His supernatural, complete scripture  of all revealed truth.  He brings guidance through it to us personally and to each local body of Christian believers. With God’s empowerment, we will read, study, meditate-on, trust-in  and obey God’s Holy Bible and encourage others to do the same. We hold it to be the supreme authority and the preeminent and divinely established Stare Decisis [Latin: to stand by that which is decided, the legal principle of precedence,   literally "to stand by decided matters"] in all things.

Therefore, the purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to publish the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature. And, to serve all, in love,  especially those in the household of faith. This purpose compels us to follow, and rightly present, God’s Holy Word, the Bible as God’s divinely preserved truth; the foundation of this ministry.

Tabernacle History:
The  inspired preaching, teaching, soul winning and writings of Charles Haddon Spurgeon were solely based, empowered and inspired by God’s Holy Word the Bible.  His written sermons and devotional content continue to benefit today’s readers with authentic  Gospel preaching and sound biblical teaching. His ministry continues to flourish from the original (Spurgeon’s)  Metropolitan Tabernacle,  a church fellowship began in 1650 with the present  building constructed by members of the congregation in 1861 and rebuilt after the second world war..

Spurgeon's written materials are for the edification of the church body as well as a great benefit, blessing and challenge to all readers. Our desire is that the written Word of God will become the Living  Word in each and every reader. To this end, a calendar is indexed (top, right) on the Home page of DailySpurgeon.com for daily study, meditation and prayer. An unabridged and strictly maintained fidelity to Spurgeon’s original calendar and unabridged text is carefully guarded.

SACRED LITERATURE:

ORIGINAL: The Pilgrim’s Progress  Pub. by Logos,1853 from 1678 Original by John Bunyan

REVISED TEXT by Barry E. Horner: The Pilgrim’s Progrefs [sic]...

in Pilgrim’s Progress. (The World’s most widely circulated Allegory by John Bunyan, also credited, by some, as being the world’s first English novel.

IT’S FREE. No subscription required. You may choose to read at your own pace, or you may want to view DailySpugeon.com for daily encounters with Pilgrim.)

"Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me [Spurgeon's comment] of Mr. Bunyan’s picture of [the town of] Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [melody] , for the king himself was come. Up to the castle of the heart he rode in triumph, and took his royal throne to be henceforth the sole lord and king of the city.

Christ in you is a right royal word. Christ swaying his scepter from the center of your being over every power and faculty, desire and resolve, bringing every thought into captivity to himself, oh, this is glory begun, and the sure pledge of heaven. Oh for more of the imperial sovereignty of Jesus; it is our liberty to be absolutely under his sway.

Cast your cares on the Lord as you…

1.     – Call on Him. As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.. ...Psalm 55:16

2.     – Trust Him. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.. ... Psalm 37:5

3.     –  Come to Him. Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.. ...  Matthew 11:28

4.     –  Give Him the burden.  Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22

MISSION STATEMENT:
Our aim is to encourage  God’s purpose in one another, to save souls, strengthen and encourage believers in the Word, and proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.

We believe the Bible is God’s revealed Word and that through His Word He guides us as individuals and as a local body of believers. We are resolved, God helping us, to study, meditate and pray to rightly divide God’s revealed and preserved Word holding it as the final authority in all things.
The purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to make known the Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ to everyone. We desire to show the love of Jesus  to all, especially those in need and those in the household of faith. The Bible is God’s everlasting, inspired, (God breathed) inerrant, (error free) immutable (unchangeable), and infallible (incapable of being wrong) divinely protected and preserved  message of salvation to the whole world.  It is the essence of  the ministry  inspired here.
The  inspirational source of  preaching, teaching and writing  by Charles Haddon Spurgeon is from this same essence.  His writings continue to be  much read and much used today in the  support of Gospel preaching. Such ministry is still flourishing  in London at  the Metropolitan Tabernacle,  the church constructed for the 6,000 member congregation in the 1800's. Our effort here is to increase  the publication, circulation and use of Spurgeon's materials for the benefit of the church body as well as all other readers.  To this end we have arranged a daily Table of Contents and have added brief annotations [shown in brackets]  while maintaining a strict fidelity to Spurgeon’s original and unabridged text.

Published Titles from Spurgeon’s written work are used exclusively as the resource from which
selections are made for inclusion into the Devotion each day from Daily Spurgeon:

·       C.H. Spurgeon Prayers

·       Spurgeon’s  Illustrative Anecdotes

·       Faith’s Checkbook

·       Morning &  Evening

These titles of devotions are from the body of inspired work from the gospel preaching and devotional writings of Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892.

No servant of God has given a greater legacy of gospel exposition to the world in the English language.  Spurgeon has been and is today widely read with great benefit from the 1800’s to this present time. He was the beloved venerable pastor of

Prayer: Dear Lord, please empower this, Your ministry to thrive in winning souls, and helping us to be loving and compassionate toward all who are in need, especially those in the household of faith, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company is not intended to praise or exalt  Charles H. Spurgeon. He didn’t need or want it then and wouldn’t desire it now. Our intention is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM and .
Precaution: These Messages and prayers alone will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus. Neither do they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely protected, preserved and eternally immutable Word. (The King James version (KJV), known also as the Authorized Version (AV), is the preferred English Bible because its accuracy and fidelity to the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text) are inerrant and infallible and avoid doctrinal and editorial weaknesses  found in all contemporary versions that all follow the inferior Greek text of the Critical text theory advanced by Westcott and Hort.
The Printed Prayer Selection must not be read or offered as a substitute for personal, fervent, effectual, heart-felt, prayer. It  is intended rather, to bless and warm the hearts of those who presently seek a season of fervent, authentic two-way, heart-to-heart  fellowship and prayer with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit.

Preaching  Preparation:  If you are studying or preparing to preach from a specific, scripture text, Please inform us so that we may  send you a Sermon from Mr. Spurgeon on the message, precept and application most closely aligned to your selected text.

My Prayer,  Dear Father,  is that You bless, lift up, encourage and teach all readers that You guide here.  Bless all those who minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ and may Your holy anointing fall fresh, continually upon each one who rightly divides and faithfully proclaims Your Word. Save many souls and make disciples of all who love and follow You. Be glorified in everything that is done in Your name, Lord Jesus.  Amen.

SACRED LITERATURE:

ORIGINAL: The Pilgrim’s Progress  Pub. by Logos,1853 from 1678 Original by John Bunyan

REVISED TEXT by Barry E. Horner: The Pilgrim’s Progrefs [sic]...

in Pilgrim’s Progress. (Tthe World’s most widely circulated Allegory by John Bunyan, also credited, by some, as being the world’s first English novel.

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK NOVEMBER 18 C.H. Spurgeon 1834-1892

CLEARLY SUPERNATURAL

-In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them-  Zechariah 12:8

Amen.

Pray also that believers will be taught by the Holy Spirit to rightly divide God’s eternal Word preserved by God, Himself.

John 3:16    God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten [supernaturally fathered] Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but may be having  eternal life.

This direct Translation is from the Textus Receptus [Received Text] (The overwhelming majority of extant Greek texts distinct from codices Alexandrinus, Sinaiticus and Vaticanus which often, proven through their multiple editions, do not agree with one another and have introduced modern biblical criticism translations which bring ambiguities and uncertainties in the multitude of English translations that purport to address unsettled, uncertain and variant readings that occur in Greek manuscripts, listed above except for the Textus Receptus;  the received, providentially protected and preserved inspired, self-authenticating Greek text that contains no unscriptural sectarian dogma or unsettled doctrine and is the source of the Authorized King James English Translation ).

For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in Heaven. Psalm 119:89

MORNING November 18

EVENING November 18

He is eternal in all His attributes, in all His offices, in all His might, and willingness to bless, comfort, guard, and crown His chosen people.

Psalm 55:22]

 A SINNER’S PRAYER: … FOR WHOSOEVER:

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

Therefore,  call on the Lord Jesus and be saved      … won’t you?

Yes?

Then pray like this, from your heart:

“Lord Jesus, I’m lost. I’m a selfish, sinful and hopeless sinner. I cannot save myself. Without you and your sacrifice on the cross to save me, I would be hell bound. My sinful nature reveals itself in my sinfulness. I’m totally depraved and I sin because it is my natural born inclination. I know that me doing my best, or being as good as I can, or better than others or making excuses will never be enough to save myself.

I need to be saved.

I look to You, Lord Jesus to save me. Your word states, “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21. I call on You now Lord Jesus believing You will save me.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You so loved me that you would and, in fact, did die for me on the cross.

I ask that You forgive all my sins and save me. I’m sorry for all my sins and turn away from each one. Thank you, Lord, for paying, in full, the price of punishment for all my sins and for saving me.

Thank you, Heavenly Father that You say, “Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: for I am God and there is none else.”
I do look to You in believing You always keep Your Word and. will save me.

Thank You for revealing in me, that the wages of sin is death;  but Your gift is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead, victorious over sin, death and the grave and that in Him I am eternally saved.

Thank you for saving me.

Holy Spirit, please guide me into all truth and shape me into the very image of the only begotten son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ in whose name I pray, With all my heart, thank you Lord Jesus for saving me. In your name, I pray, Amen.

The Metropolitan Tabernacle: (Charles H. Spurgeon, Pastor 1834 - 1892)

The preaching, teaching, soul winning and writings of Charles Haddon Spurgeon faithfully reflect the truth of  Holy Scripture forever settled in heaven.. His far reaching ministry is established, empowered and inspired by The Word of God, The Holy Bible.

Spurgeon's written work continue to bless, guide, challenge and benefit readers through his printed sermons and writings to support spiritual growth in the Lord Jesus Christ.. The ministry from The Metropolitan Tabernacle in London continues to flourish today.

The present building was constructed in 1861 and was rebuilt after the destruction caused during the second world war. This church has been steadfast in it’s adherence to Reformed Baptist theology that Spurgeon called, "Just  a nickname for Biblical Christianity."   It will always resist and reject worldly winds of doctrine, such as congregational pragmatism, self-centered “Christian hedonism”  "Biblical or Christian World Views". God's Word rightly divided consistently supports and sustains HIS [GOD'S]  View only. No additions or blending of any other view, creed, philosophy or new approach will ever replace  the immutable Word of God.    Biblical Christianity will always show itself to be a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. His teachings, important though they be, cannot supplant Jesus Christ, himself. He is not a philosophy, religion, political movement  or a current or trendy social narrative.  He is the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.
