JESUS CHRIST THE MESSIAH IS RISEN, INDEED!
DAILY SPURGEON and DEVOTION for April 20th *A.D. 2025 Written and calendared for this exact date by Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892
Easter [Resurrection Sunday] IS NEVER OVER.
Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me, shall never die. Believest thou this?”
2 Timothy 2:8-26
8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

This video presents historical evidence to explain the publication explosion of over 100 English versionsof the Bible. The continuing attempts to replace, add, take away from or change the 1769 King James Version of the Holy Bible have notprevailed because GOD Himself preserves and protects His Holy Scripture from all heresy, blasphemy, confusion and error.
Note: The King James Version follows the Greek Text fabricated by Westcott and Hort and does follow the originalGreek of the Textus Receptus. It is therefore inferior to the 1769 [1611] KJV!

A SINNER'S PRAYER
________________________________________
PRAYER 16, Part 4 of 8
HE EVER LIVETH.
How very often Thou showest Thy mighty power. O Lord, we bless Thee that the voice of God has called many to [Jesus] Christ. Those that are hardened have felt a softness stealing [quietly coming] over their spirits; those who were careless have been compelled to sit down and think; those that were wrapped up in earthly things have been compelled to think of eternal things; and [in] thinking, have been disturbed, and driven to despair, but afterwards led to Thee, even to Thee, dear Savior, who wast [were] lifted high upon the cross that by Thy death sinners might live.
But, Lord, we next would pray that Thine own people should know somewhat of the quickening of the Spirit of God. Lord, we thank Thee for the very least life to God, for the feeblest ray of faith and glimmering of hope. We are glad to see anything of [Jesus] Christ in any man; but Thou hast [have] come, O Savior, not only that we might have life, but that we might have it more abundantly, so our prayer is
that there may be abundance of life.
[In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 263: Paul, Not an Agnostic.
Let us pass on to consider how Paul could say he knew this.
This wonderfully enlightened nineteenth century has produced an order of wise men who glory in their ignorance. They call themselves “Agnostics,” or know-nothings.
When I was a boy, it would have seemed odd to me to have met with a man who gloried in being an ignoramus, and yet that is the Latin for that Greek word “ Agnostic.” Is it not singular [striking] to hear a man boastfully say,
“ I am an ignoramus”?
How different is our apostle! [Paul] He says
“we know.”

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK APRIL 20 BY FAITH NOT FEELING C.H. Spurgeon 1834 -1892
-The just shall live by faith - Romans 1:17
- El justo vivirá por la fe- Romanos 1:17
I shall not die. I can, [and] I do believe in the Lord my God, and this faith will keep me alive. I would be numbered among those who in their lives are just; but even if I were perfect, I would not try to live by my righteousness; I would cling to the work of the Lord Jesus, and still live by faith in Him and by nothing else. If I were able to give my body to be burned for my Lord Jesus, yet I would not trust in my own courage and constancy, [integrity] but still would live by faith.
-Were I [If I were] a martyr at the stake [to be burned alive] I would plead my Savior’s name; and Intreat [ask] a pardon for His sake, And urge [plead] no other claim.
To live by faith is a far surer and happier thing than to live by feelings or by works.
The branch, by living in the vine, lives a better life than it would live by itself, even if it were possible for it to live at all apart from the stem. To live by clinging to Jesus, by deriving all from Him, is a sweet and sacred thing. If even the most just must live in this fashion, how much more must I who am a poor sinner! Lord, I believe. I must trust Thee wholly. What else can I do? Trusting Thee is my life. I feel it to be so. I will abide by this even to the end. Thank you Lord that
The just shall live by faith
Prayer: Thank You Lord that The just shall live by faith and for Martin Luther, and others who You moved to act on this Word that brought Your Reformation. Thank You that the life I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me. In His name I pray, Amen.
Galatians 2:15-17 15 We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles [Gentile sinners], 16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. 17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth [lives] in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

MORNING April 20
"That through death He might destroy him that had the power of death. " —Hebrews 2:14
—Para destruir por la muerte al que tenía el imperio de la muerte, —Hebreos 2:14
O CHILD OF God, death has lost its sting because the devil's power over it is destroyed. Then cease [stop] fearing death. Ask grace from God the Holy Spirit, that by an intimate knowledge and a firm belief of your Redeemer's death, you may be strengthened for that dreadful hour. Living near the cross of Calvary you may think of death with pleasure, and welcome it when it comes with intense delight. It is sweet to die in the Lord: it is a covenant blessing to sleep in Jesus. Death is no longer banishment; it is a return from exile, a going home to the many mansions where the loved ones already dwell. The distance between glorified spirits in heaven and militant saints on earth seems great; but it is not so.
We are not far from home—a moment will bring us there. The sail is spread [up and full of wind]: the soul is launched upon the deep [ocean]. How long will be its voyage? How many wearying winds must beat upon the sail before it will be reefed in the port of peace? How long will that soul be tossed upon the waves before it comes to that sea that knows no storm? Listen to the answer,
"Absent from the body, present with the Lord."
The ship has just departed, but it is already at its haven. It did but spread its sail and it was there. Like that ship
of old on the Lake of Galilee, a storm had tossed it; but Jesus said,
"Peace, be still,"
and immediately it came to land. Think not that a long period intervenes between the instant of death and the eternity of glory. When the eyes close on earth they open in heaven. The fire horses are not an instant on the road [not on the road for a single second].
Then, O child of God, what is there to fear in death, seeing that through the death of your Lord its curse and sting are destroyed? Now it is but a Jacob's ladder whose foot is in the dark grave, but its top reaches to glory everlasting.

EVENING April 20
"Fight the Lord's battle. " —1 Samuel 18:17
—Y dijo Saúl á David: solamente que me seas hombre valiente, y hagas las guerras de Jehová.
—1 Samuel 18:17
THE sacramental host [army] of God's elect is warring still [continuing to fight] on earth, Jesus Christ being the Captain of their salvation. He has said, "Lo! I am with you always, even unto the end of the world."
Hark to the shouts of war! Now let the people of God stand fast in their ranks, and let no man's heart fail him [lack courage]. It is true that just now in England the battle is turned against us, and unless the Lord Jesus lifts His sword, we know not what may become of the church of God in this land; but let us be of good courage, and be strong in Christ.
There never has been a day that Protestantism seemed to tremble more in the scales than now that a fierce effort is being made to restore the Romish antichrist to his ancient seat. We greatly want a bold voice and a strong hand to preach and publish the old gospel for which martyrs bled and confessors [witnesses of the truth] died. The Savior is, by His Spirit, still on earth; let this cheer us.
He is ever in the midst of the fight, and therefore the battle is not doubtful. And as the conflict rages, what a sweet satisfaction it is to know that the Lord Jesus, in His office as our great Intercessor, is prevalently pleading for His people!
0 anxious gazer [stressed-out on-looker], look not so much at the battle below, for there you will be enshrouded [covered] in smoke, and amazed with garments rolled in blood;
but lift your eyes yonder where the Savior lives and pleads, for while He intercedes, the cause of God is safe.
Let us fight as if it all depended upon us, but let us look up and know that all depends on Him.
Now, by the lilies of Christian purity, and by the roses of the Savior's atonement, by the roes [small deer] and by the hind [red doe, female deer] of the field, we charge you who are lovers of Jesus, to do valiantly in the Holy War, for truth and righteousness, for the kingdom and crown jewels of your Master.
Onward! "for the battle is not yours but God's."
Note: John Michael witnessed the last moments of his *Daddy’s life on earth and heard him repeatedly and continuously say “Amen” to affirm the ending of his life on earth and his testimony of God’s faithful goodness to him and his agreement with his departure from earth to be forever present with the Lord Jesus. Amen... Amen… Amen!
*Charles Dumah Riley, Sr. 1897 – 1987 (AKA "C. D. Paw Paw and Daddy")
This one, never changing prayer of thanksgiving was prayed by him before every meal where he was present and always at every family meal:
(It was Offered with all gravity and reverence through the unique sound of his voice when he prayed)
He intoned all public prayer with his deep Bass “prayer” voice:
“Accept our thanks for these and all other blessings, we Humbly ask in Thy name, Amen.”
Note: JM witnessed the last moments of his *Daddy’s life on earth and heard him say “Amen” repeatedly and continuously affirming his own life and testimony of God’s goodness to him and his agreement for his imminent departure and to be present with his Lord Jesus. Amen... Amen… Amen!

The Fanny Crosby Story (45 minute video of most prolific Hymn writer of all time)
A SINNER’S PRAYER:
A person may come to Jesus by believing in Him and (earnestly)
praying like this:
“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and hopeless without You. I will never be able to save myself by my own merits. Without you and your death on the cross I would deserve and spend forever in Hell.
I know that me doing my best or being good (in my own opinion) and justifying my own behavior as "good" or "OK" will never save me.
I look to You, alone Lord Jesus to save me.
I come to You right now. Lord Jesus. Please save me. I believe You died on the cross in my place to pay for my sin debt and put to death my sin nature. I know You always keep your word. Please save me. You say and it’s written in the Bible that you won’t reject anyone who comes to You. I'm coming to You now. Thank You for saving me.
I give myself (all of myself) to You, Lord Jesus. I declare that You are my Savior and Lord. I’m sorry for and I turn away from every sin (every bad thought, every bad word I have spoken and every bad thing I have ever done) and look to You free me from the penalty of sin, to keep me free from the power of sin and empower me overcome any temptation from sin’s presence. Thank you for forgiving all of my sins by dying on the cross to pay the punishment that I deserve. (I was a sinner by nature and by behavior). But now I'm washed clean by Your blood that was shed [poured out] for me at Calvary [at the cross].
Thank you Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was born and that You love me now and will always love me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father other than by You.
Thank you Father that You have made a way for me to see myself as ungodly. But, because You are good You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in the Lord Jesus. You have forgiven me because He took my place and You have provided for me to be born again [born from above, born of the Holy Spirit].
You prompted this desire and faith to believe in Your only begotten Son who, gave up His life and died on the cross to pay my sin debt, not mine alone, but the sins of the whole world.
Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus there is no condemnation. After You raised Him from the dead You gave Him a Glorified, [everlasting] physical body and after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with You in heaven.
I pray this in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus
Christ with a grateful heart. Thank You for saving me heavenly Father and for sending the Comforter, The Spirit of Truth, for my
guidance and solemn instruction into all truth., Amen.”
Thank You Holy Spirit of Truth, The Comforter, The Paraclete [true friend who is by
your side and always has your back] for the new life in Jesus and the victory that comes when I recon myself dead indeed unto sin and alive unto God through Christ Jesus our
Lord trusting You, Holy Spirit for Your empowerment to see this promise fulfilled.
Romans 6:11
Thank you that you, Holy Spirit, always exalt [lift up] the Lord Jesus. John 16:8-11
With all my heart, I thank you Lord Jesus for saving me and
I now pray that You live Your life, Lord Jesus through me. In Your name, Jesus, Amen.
Please allow us to celebrate with you and with the angels in heaven at the news of your new birth. Please write to:

Paul’s gratitude, contentment and blessing recorded in the book of Philippians quotes the principle and practices regarding all contributions to the Publishing Company. We desire fruit that may abound to your account through your generosity: (vis.)
"For even in [the] Thessaloni'ca [jail] ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. Philippians 4:17. But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received the things which were sent from you, an odor of a sweet smell, Exodus. 29.18 a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God. …But I know that my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:17-19. Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Salute [Greet] every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you All the saints salute [Greet] you, chiefly they that are of *Caesar’s household. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Philippians 4:23 Amen”
* Not only were new converts won to the truth in Caesar's household, but after their conversion they remained in that household. They did not feel at liberty to abandon their post of duty because their surroundings were no longer congenial. [They were now out of their comfort zone but obliged to steadfastly remain and serve there] The truth had found them there, and there they remained, by their changed life and character testifying to the transforming power of their new found faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you for your prayers.
Let us make daily use of our riches, and ever repair [return] to Him as to our own Lord in covenant, taking from Him the supply of all we need with as much boldness as men take money from their own purse [wallet].

Can You trust this website?
Is it of God?
Is it trustworthy?
Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everything you hear] but [continually] be testing the spirit whether it is of God: because many false prophets have come out in the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesseth [confesses, says] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come out of God, is of God: and every spirit [voice] that confesseth not [doesn't confess] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Hence, I confess [declare and affirm] "Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh."

[*All redeemed believers].
"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,

It follows his trials and triumphs with historical accuracy pointing always to Jesus Christ and proclaiming, “Behold the Lamb of God which taketh [takes] away the sin of the world.”
Here is an intimate account of one of the greatest preachers in the history of the church. We follow him from his youth where, as a young preacher he is called Charlie, boy preacher of the Finns. to become the minister to London’s largest Baptist congregation and soon captures the love and respect of Great Britan and goes on to become one of its most influential figures.
Made by the award-winning Christian Television Association and filmed on location in England, Scotland, France and Germany, this film vividly captures the spirit and message of a man whose eventful —sometimes controversial— life is highly relevant to the twenty-first century.

Thank You LORD for dailyspurgeon.com that proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ [The Messiah], and the great commission for believers to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
This ministry was begun as e-mails of Spurgeon’s Faith’s Checkbook, were sent to Jon Edward Riley (1971- 2021) by his dad. He shared them with others, and a mailing list of daily recipients began to grow. The mailing list is now used to send dailyspurgeon.com a website that publishes the Good News of Jesus Christ and supports Local Churches in making followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. To this end devotional content from the writings of Charles Haddon Spurgeon. (1834 – 1892) known as The Prince of Preachers is presented.
We are grateful to the Lord for providing dailyspurgeon.com and trust that it will continue to honor the LORD by encouraging a whole-hearted devotional vigor of Love, and oneness with Jesus Christ through the study and obedience of GOD’S WORD. All content is selected for this ministry has been written and calendared by Charles Spurgeon. We pray that many will be born-again and built-up in the Faith of Jesus Christ, by God’s grace and with His help, sustain a ministry that was begun with my beloved son, Jon Edward Riley (1971-2021) honored here as one to whom honor is due.
Jon would often testify that...
“I’m a blood-bought, born-again child of God.”
We add our, “Amen”.

A thriving ministry continues from Spurgeon’s home church, the Metropolitan Tabernacle begun in London in 1650. (Brief History) The present church building was constructed in 1861to support a congregation that continues as a vibrant, doctrinally sound, Gospel preaching, Sacred Praise and Hymn singing body of believing Disciples, devoted to and following the Lord Jesus Christ.

Is dailyspurgeon.com or any other spoken or written communication to be trusted?
Is it true? Is it of God?
Apply this Scripture to discern if it is, or is not.
1 John 4:1-3 Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [voice] you hear but be testing the spirits [voices] whether they are of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit [voice] of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come from God, is of God: and every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit [voice] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Therefore, we should [must] test every voice [spirit] whether it is from God, bonified and trustworthy to be believed only if it confesses [says] that…
“Jesus Christ is here, from God, in the flesh having come from God .”
[All English translations of the Bible other than King James have erroneously translated from two alternate Greek texts created by Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Alland as “Has come” rather than“Is come” [Is Here] which is the correct translation following the Greek Majority Text and the Textus Receptus]. The majority of manuscripts MT of the 5,321 individual Greek manuscripts that are preserved, protected, inerrant, infallible and immutable manuscripts and are in overwhelming agreement with one another and are the source from which the Textus Receptus is taken
All Modern Critical translations ignore the original Greek verb “ictin” [To be] [is] (third person singular) that is in virtually all Majority Texts MT and subsequently in the Textus Receptus [Received Text] therefore they fail to correctly translate the Greek verb as, “Is come” [Is here]. (as does the KJV)
This error occurs because the modern critical Greek text, created by Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Alland DO NOT follow the MT [Majority Texts] from which the TR [Textus Receptus] is rendered and both have omitted the verb “is”, from the Greek text. This error show itself as a res ipsa loquitur [a point of law meaning the thing speaks for itself].
Therefore, the alternate translations generated from the two alternate Greek fabrications are not correct. Why not? Because non-believers and false prophets can indeed, and often do, affirm that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. Practically anyone can make this confession as the birth of Jesus Christ is considered by virtually all respected historians to be the most well documented fact in history. That He has come is generally acknowledged by nonbelievers and believers alike. However, here’s the point. There is a huge difference between “Has come” and “Is Here”. “Has come” falls woefully short of the essential and clear meaning of the confession “Is Here”. Just because something “has come” it can not be assumed, inferred or deduced that it also “is here”.
The “has come” assertion is not surprising nor is it, per se, a false statement. Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. However, this fails to present a Rubric necessary to discern whether the sprit [voice] being tested [tried] is from God or from false prophets in the spirit of antichrist.
Again, the expression “has come” rather than “is come” [is here] is not, per se a false statement. But, it falls short of delivering the promised hypothesis for discernment proffered and inferred. The failure here to establish a logical and rhetorically sound rubric to judge the question of whether spirits [words] are from God or from false prophets and the spirit of antichrist is glaring by its absence.
Namely, it does not provide a sound hypothesis to discern whether a spirit [spoken or written words] are from God or the spirit of Antichrist.
Virtually anyone [or any spirit] may avow that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. But as you can see, this does not resolve the issue of whether something should or should not be believed as true or followed. Why? Once again, because virtually anyone and everyone can and often do confess that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. This leaves absent a valid and efficacious discernment.
Again, while it is true that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh, this alone is inadequate to discern truth from error. “Has come” does not mean the same thing as “is come [is here], from God, in the flesh” and therefore is a failed attempt to represent itself as efficacious for true spiritual discernment as outlined in 1 John Chapter 4: 1-3.
Further, as we compare Scripture with scripture in 1 John 4:1-3 and Ephesians 5:30-32
we comprehend God’s message regarding Jesus Christ being in the Flesh vis-à-vis His Church Body
Compare 1 John 4:1-3 with Ephesians 5:30-32
1 John 4:1-3
Authorized (King James) Version
4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Ephesians 5:30-32
Authorized (King James) Version
30 for we are members of his [Jesus Christ’s] body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery:
but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
[So, we are members of His body, flesh and bone, [we are] one flesh with Him, The Body of Christ is (In the flesh); and is the incarnate Body of believers].
He was born of a virgin 2024 years ago. He lives today,
and He’s coming soon, for His bride; the Church [Blood-bought, Born-again members of His body].
When a believer considers the fact that they are a member of the body of Christ [The Church] , they should acknowledge and readily confess that…
“Jesus Christ is here, from God, in the flesh,” because We are the Body of Christ; The Church, in the flesh! Amen.

As Jon remembered veterans, we remember him: Jon Edward Riley (1971-2021) who would, on occasion, just bust-out singing the following songs; sometimes, on the way to church sometimes just singing along with the Elvis Gospel CD that was always kept in the truck’s CD player or,
even better, a song the Lord would spontaneously put in his joyful and loving heart.

…Jon always said “Later”; as in [see’ya later] instead of “good bye”. It was his unique way to bid farewell … He would never say “good-bye”. Now, remembering the sound of his voice saying “Later”, it rings true with a new and deeper meaning and it brings a joyfulness and comfort to the hearts of those he loved so well; those who love him still, and always will.
… we are reminded of the promise of the Hymn:

“All [Prophets and Apostles] who wrote are immortalized by their writing of this great Book, supernatural in origin, divine in authorship, human in penmanship, infallible in authority, infinite in scope, universal in interest, personal in application, regenerative in power, inspired [God breathed] in totality.”

SACRED LITERATURE:
THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS by John Bunyan is the most famous Allegory, world-wide and the Most widely Published Book of all time and was printed in over 200 Languages. It has NEVER, since 1698, been out-of-print.
Only The King James Bible was more widely published than The Pilgrim’s Progress.
ONLINE PRINT LIBRARY: (No Enrollment Fee or Registration required)
BUNYAN’S ORIGINAL of 1678: The Pilgrim’s Progress Published in 1853 by Logos
REVISED VERSION: The Pilgrim’s Progrefs [sic] 1999 by Barry E. Horner
OLD ENGLISH PRINT: The Pilgrim’s Progress Part II AKA Christiana
(Christian’s wife, Christiana and children; their dangerous journey, and safe arrival at the desired country.)
Pilgrim Progress is the world’s most famous Allegory, It and the Bible were commonly the only books to be found in the cabin of early American Settlers and were loved and read more than any book, second only to the Holy Bible. It’s also considered, by some, as being the world’s first English novel. It’s likely the most published book other than the Bible of all time. There were 1,300 editions printed before 1938, 250 years after the Bunyan’s death. Hence, the world’s most famous Allegory.
Comment on Pilgrim’s Progress by Charles H. Spurgeon from the Spurgeon Sermon
“Christ in You”.
Spurgeon: Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me of Mr. Bunyan’s picture of [the town of] Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [happy melodies] , for the king himself was come. Up to the castle of the heart [main castle] he rode in triumph, and took his royal throne to be henceforth the sole lord and king of the city.
Christ in you is a right royal word. Christ swaying his scepter from the center of your being over every power and faculty, desire and resolve, bringing every thought into captivity to himself, Oh, this is glory begun, and the sure pledge of heaven. Oh, for more of the imperial sovereignty of Jesus, The Messiah; our liberty to be absolutely under his sway.
Spurgeon Sermon: Christ in You, Preached May 13, 1883 Scripture: Colossians 1:27 From: Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit, Volume 29 (cit. II. THE SWEETNESS OF THIS MYSTERY, WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU, § 5)
You may choose to read, listen or share Pilgrim’s Progress with your little ones as a bed time story. It will bless, strengthen, encourage and instruct pilgrims of all ages and will create precious and enduring memories in little ears.
Spurgeon read it for the first time as a precocious five year old reader and would returned to read it over 100 times during the course of his remarkable ministry as a Baptist pastor who is known as The Prince of Preachers .

A SINNER'S PRAYER
________________________________________
PRAYER 16, Part 3 of 8
HE EVER LIVETH.
Our first prayer shall be for those who do not pray. There is an ancient promise of Thine,
“I am found of them that sought Me not; I said, Behold Me, behold Me, to a people that were not a people.”
Prove the sovereignty of Thy grace, the priority of Thy power, which runs before [precedes] the will of man, by making many willing in this the day of Thy power, and
calling the things that are not as though they were.
May the day come in which they that are in their graves shall hear the voice of God, and they that hear shall live.
[In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 258: Humility [is] Necessary.
He gives us temporal mercies, and then we presumptuously say,
“My mountain standeth [stands] firm; I shall never be moved”
We meet with the poor saints, and we begin to hector over [Lord it over] them, as if we were something, and they were nothing. We find some in trouble; we have no sympathy with them; we are bluff and blunt with them, as we talk with them about their troubles; yea, we are even savage and cruel with them.
We meet with some who are in deep distress and faint hearted; we begin to forget when we were faint-hearted too, and because they cannot run as fast as we can, we run far ahead, and turn back and look at them, call them sluggards [lazy-bones] , and say they are idle and lazy.
And perhaps even in the pulpit, if we are preachers, we have got hard words to say against those who are not quite so advanced as we are.
Well, mark [take notice], there never was a saint yet, that grew proud of his fine feathers, but what the Lord plucked them out by and by [sooner or later].
There never yet was an angel that had pride in his heart, but he lost his wings, and fell into Gehenna [Hell], as Satan and those fallen angels did; and there shall never be a saint who indulges self-conceit, and pride, and self-confidence, but the Lord will spoil his glories, and trample his honors in the mire, [slime] and make him cry out yet again,
“Lord, have mercy upon me,” less than the least of all saints, and the “very chief of sinners.”

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK APRIL 20 AN EXPERT SEARCHER C.H. Spurgeon 1834 - 1892
-For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, will both search [for] my sheep, and seek them out- Ezekiel 34:11
-Porque asi ha dicho el Senor Jehova: He aqui, yo, yo requeriré mis ovejas, y las reconoceré - Ezequiel 34:11
This He does at the first when His elect are like wandering sheep that know not the Shepherd or the fold [flock of sheep]. How wonderfully doth [does] the Lord find out [look for and find] His chosen!
Jesus is great as a seeking Shepherd as well as a saving Shepherd. Though many of those His Father gave Him have gone as near to hell-gate as they well can, yet the Lord by searching and seeking discovers them, and draws nigh [comes near] to them in grace. He has sought out [found] us: let us have good hope for those who are laid upon our hearts in prayer, for He will find them out also.
The Lord repeats this process when any of His flock stray from the pastures of truth and holiness. They may fall into gross error, sad sin, and grievous hardness; but yet the Lord, who has become a surety for them to His Father, will not suffer one of them to go so far as to perish.
He will by providence and grace pursue them into foreign lands, into abodes [dwelling places] of poverty, into dens [caves] of obscurity, into deeps of despair [depression];
He will not lose one of all that the Father has given Him.
It is a point of honor with Jesus to seek and to save all the flock, without a single exception.
What a promise to plead [claim], if at this hour I am compelled to cry [shout] ,
“I have gone astray like a lost sheep!”
Prayer: Thank you Lord that You say Behold, I, even I, will both search [for] my sheep, and find them. Help me Lord to not lose my way but to follow You faithfully. Thank You that You always faithfully find me and bring me back and I can always rely on You.
Thank you Lord for saving me. I rejoice with the angels in heaven for each each soul that looks to you and is saved. In Your name, Lord Jesus, Amen.

MORNING April 20
Behold, [Look closely] the veil of the temple was rent in twain [ripped in two] from the top to the bottom." —Matthew 27:51
—Y he aquí, el velo del templo se rompió en dos, de alto á bajo: —Mateo 27:51
NO mean [common] miracle was wrought in the rending [ripping] of so strong and thick a veil [curtain]; but it was not intended merely as a display of power—many lessons were therein taught us.
The old law of ordinances was put away, and like a worn-out garment [clothes], rent, [ripped] and laid aside.
When Jesus died [on the Cross], the sacrifices were all finished, because all [were] fulfilled in him, and therefore the place of their presentation was marked with an evident token of [the veil’s] decay.
That rent [rip] also revealed all the hidden things of the old dispensation: the mercy-seat [situated upon the ark of the covenant] could now be seen, and the glory of God gleamed forth [shined out] above it. By the death of our Lord Jesus we have a clear revelation of God, for He was
"not as Moses, who put a veil [mask] over his face."
Life and immortality are now brought to light, and things which have been hidden since the foundation of the world are manifest [seen] in Him.
The annual ceremony of atonement [Yom Kippur] was thus abolished. The atoning blood that was sprinkled within the veil once every year, was now offered once for all by [Jesus Christ] the great High Priest, and therefore the place of the symbolical rite was broken up.
No blood of bullocks [young bulls] or of lambs is needed now, for Jesus has entered within the veil with His own blood. Hence [therefore] access to God is now permitted [directly], and is the privilege of every believer in Christ Jesus.
There is no small space laid open through which we may peer [peek] at the mercy seat, but the rent [rip] reaches from the top to the bottom. We may come with boldness to the throne of the heavenly grace.
Are we in error if we say that the opening of the Holy of Holies in this marvelous manner by our Lord's expiring cry was the type of the opening of the gates of paradise to all the saints by virtue of the Passion ? [sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross] ?
Our bleeding Lord has the key of heaven; He opens and no man shuts; let us enter the heavenly places with him and sit with Him there until our common enemies are made His footstool.

"The Amen. "—Revelation 3:14
—He aquí dice el Amén —Apocalipsis 3:14
Sing: Amen with Harry Belafonte
URL: https://youtu.be/pewcFXNf1M4
THE word Amen solemnly confirms that which went before. Jesus is the great Confirmer; immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], forever is the Amen in all His promises. Sinner, I would comfort you with this reflection. Jesus Christ said,
“Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
If you come to Him, He will say "Amen" in your soul; His promise will be true to you. He said in the days of His flesh,
"The bruised reed [needy one] I will not break."
0 poor, broken, bruised heart, if you come to Him, He will say "Amen" to you, and that will be true in your soul as in hundreds of cases in bygone years [years past].
Christian, is not [isn’t] this very comforting to you also, that there is not a word which has gone out of the Savior's lips that he has ever retracted [taken back]?
The words of Jesus will stand when heaven and earth will pass away. If you get a hold of but half a promise, you will find it true. Beware of him who is called a "Clip-promise” [Promise clipper], [one who cuts-short His promises] who will destroy much of the comfort of God's word.
Jesus is Yea [Yes] and Amen.
[Affirming all righteousness] in all His offices.
He was a Priest to pardon and cleanse once,
He is Amen as Priest still.
He was a King to rule and reign for His people, and to defend them with His mighty arm;
He is an Amen King, the same still.
He was a Prophet of old, to foretell good things to come;
His lips are most sweet, and drop with honey still—
He is an Amen Prophet. He is Amen as to the merit of His blood;
He is Amen as to His righteousness. That sacred robe will remain most fair and glorious when nature will decay.
He is Amen in every single title He bears:
your Husband, never seeking a divorce;
your Friend, sticking closer than a brother;
your Shepherd, with you in death's dark vale; your Help and your Deliverer;
your Castle and
your High Tower;
the Horn of your strength,
your confidence,
your joy.
He is your all in all, and
your Yea and Amen in all.
Note:
JM witnessed the last moments of his *Daddy’s life on earth and heard him say “Amen” repeatedly and continuously affirming his own life and testimony of God’s goodness to him and his agreement for his imminent departure and to be present with his Lord Jesus. Amen... Amen… Amen!
*Charles Dumah Riley, Sr. 1897 – 1987 ("C. D." as his beloved and loving wife referred to him. She incorporated “CD” into her personal signature when she would sign checks from their JOINT CHECKING ACCOUNT with “Mrs. CD Riley”) [Mrs. C.D. Riley]
His one, never changing, prayer of thanksgiving before every meal where he was present and without fail at all every day family meals:
(Offered with all gravity and reverence through the unique sound of his voice when he prayed)
He intoned with a deep Bass voice to pray:
“Accept our thanks for these and all other blessings, we Humbly ask in Thy name, Amen.”

A SINNER’S PRAYER: … FOR WHOSOEVER: [For One and all]
Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved … pray like this, won’t you?
“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am hopeless. I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross for my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned to Hell. I have been self-centered from birth. Please forgive me.
I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m guilty and sorry for each and every sin I have done and look to You to forgive me of them all.
I look to You, alone Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You, Lord Jesus, right now to save me. You died on the cross for me, because of my sin and You say, “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21.
Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me, I trust You, to be my Lord and Savior from now on.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins. I ask You to abide in me and give me the desire to always follow You.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross. Even the sins of the whole world.
Thank you, Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me even before I was born and that You still love me now. I love You too.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You have called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [Holy Ghost, Comforter, Spirit of Truth]
Thank You for saving me heavenly Father. With all my heart, thank you Father for saving me in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Allow us to share the joy of your new birth with heaven. Won’t you? Heaven rejoices over each redeemed sinner. Luke 15:7

He created an excellent legacy of gospel preaching and exposition and is known as the “Prince of Preachers”. Spurgeon has been and is today widely read with great benefit from the 1800’s to this present time. He is the beloved founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England (Still thriving TODAY through the faithful preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.) [Click to live-stream current gospel preaching in real time each Sunday from London by Dr. Peter Masters, Metropolitan Tabernacle pastor since 1970.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, please bless Your disciples toward the winning of many souls, and help us to be loving and compassionate toward all who are in need, especially those in the household of faith. I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and for His sake, Amen.
Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not praise or exalt Charles H. Spurgeon beyond the honor due him. He didn’t need or want it when he was on earth and would have no need or desire for it now. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM and Him crucified.
Precaution: These Messages and prayers alone will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus. Neither do they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word. (The King James version (KJV), known also as the Authorized Version (AV), is the preferred English Bible because its accuracy and fidelity to the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text) avoid doctrinal and editorial weaknesses found in many contemporary editions.
Prayer Selection by Spurgeon must not be offered as a substitute for personal, intimate fervent, heart-felt, prayer. It is intended rather, to warm the hearts of those who are in prayer seeking a season of authentic two-way, heart-to-heart fellowship and prayer with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit. Read from the NT Book of Romans Chapter 8.
