A SINNER’S PRAYER  August 26th  

 

PRAYER 5, Part 5 of 6 August 26th   TO THE KING ETERNAL

             
Lord, raise up in our churches many men and women that are all on fire with love to Christ and His Divine Gospel.

 

Oh! give us back again men like Antipas, Thy faithful martyr,

 

men like Paul, Thy earnest servant who proclaimed Thy truth so boldly.

 

Give us Johns, men to whom the Spirit may speak, who shall bid us hear what the Spirit saith [says] unto the churches.

 

Lord, revive us!  Lord, revive us; revive Thy work in the midst of the years in all the churches.

 

Return unto the Church of God in this country, return unto her.

 

Thine [Your] adversaries think to have it all their own way, but they will not, for the Lord liveth, [lives] and blessed be our Rock [The Lord Jesus].

 

Because of truth and righteousness, we beseech Thee [Earnestly ask You] lay bare Thine arm [roll up your sleeves] in these last days.

 

O Shepherd of Israel, deal a heavy blow at the wolves and keep Thy sheep in their own true pastures, free from the poisonous pastures of error. O God, we would [we desire to] stir Thee up.

ANECDOTE 26: August 26th   THE SECRET OF FINDING BLESSING.

           

Do you remember the story of Mr. Erskine and the good lady who went to hear  him preach at the communion [Lord’s Supper].? It was such sweet preaching, she thought she had never heard the like. So, after service, she asked, Who the gentleman was that preached to-day; and, on being told that it was Mr. Ebenezer Erskine, she said,
 

“ I will come and hear him again next Sunday morning.” She went, she listened, and she thought to herself,  “Well, this is very dry, very heavy preaching.”  She was not at all comforted by it; then, like a foolish woman, as I should think she must have been, she went into the vestry, and said, “ Oh, Mr. Erskine, I heard you last Sabbath with much pleasure, sir; I never was so edified; and I came again this morning, but I have been dreadfully disappointed.” So the good man said, very calmly, “Pray, madam, when you came to the kirk [church] last Sunday, what did you come for?”  She said, “I came to communion, sir.”  [He asked], “To have fellowship with Christ, I suppose ?”    “Yes, sir.” [she replied]  “Well, you came for it, and you had it.
 

And pray, what did you come here this morning for?” [He asked]   Said she, “I came to hear you, sir.” “And, you had it,” said he,  “you had it,  and you had not anything more than that.” [You came to hear me and you heard me -You got what you came for]

 

Well, now, when people come merely to hear a minister, or for custom’s sake [from habit] , or for form’s sake, [doing what is expected] do they not always get what they come for?  

 

If people come to find fault, we always give them plenty of our imperfections to be entertained with, so they need not be disappointed. 

 

 If others come merely out of custom, [habit]  they say, “ Well, this is my work, I have performed my duty.” Of course, it is, but if you had come in through the door that is, looking to Christ, looking for Christ, desiring not to see the preacher but the Lord, not to get the word of man but the Word of God, to your soul I believe you would have found pasture [nourishment]. 

 

Brethren, the sheep want pasture. No other food will suit them. So your soul wants heavenly truth, and if you come to the house of God through Christ, you will get it. If you turn to the Bible through Christ, you will find it a rich storehouse. If you come to prayer through the door of Christ, you will find it comforting, and so you shall find pasture.

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK August 26th   HE OF TENDER CONSCIENCE

Some are fat and flourishing, and therefore they are unkind to the feeble [weaker cattle]. This is a grievous [regrettable] sin, and causes much sorrow.  Those thrustings [being pushed around from bullies] with side and with shoulder, those pushings of the diseased [sick cattle] with the horn, are a sad means of offense [are detestible] in the assemblies of professing believers.

 

The Lord takes note of these proud and unkind deeds, and He is greatly angered by them, for He loves the weak.

 

 Is the reader one of the despised? Is he a mourner in Zion, and a marked man because of his tender conscience? Do his brethren judge him harshly? Let him not resent their conduct; above all

 

let him not push [back] and thrust [lash out] in return.

 

Let him leave the matter in the Lord’s  hands. He is the Judge. Why should we wish to intrude upon His office? He will decide much more righteously than we can. His time for judgment is the best, and we need not be in a hurry to hasten it on. 

 

Let the hard-hearted oppressor tremble. Even though he may ride roughshod over others with impunity [being inconsiderate] for the present, all his proud speeches are noted, and for every one of them account must be given before the bar of the Great Judge.

 

Patience, my soul! Patience! The Lord knoweth thy [knows your] grief.

 

Thy [Your] Jesus hath [has] pity upon thee [you]!

Prayer: Thank You Father for your righteous judgment. Thank you that mercy begets mercy and that Your mercy toward the weak is abundant. May bullies repent. In Jesus name, Amen.

MORNING    August 26th  

"HE [The Lord] HATH COMMANDED HIS COVENANT [Sacred Promise] FOREVER. "
—Psalm 111:9

THE Lord's people delight in the covenant [God’s divine promise] itself.

 

It is an unfailing source of consolation [comfort] to them so often as the Holy Spirit leads them into its banqueting house and waves [is under] its banner of love. 

 

They delight to contemplate the antiquity [age] of that covenant, remembering that before the daystar [Sun] knew its place, or planets ran their orbit, the interests of the saints were made secure in Christ Jesus.

 

It is peculiarly pleasing to them to remember the sureness of the covenant, while meditating on "the sure mercies of David." They delight to celebrate it as "signed, sealed, and ratified; in all things ordered well."

 

It often makes their hearts dilate with joy to think of its immutability [cannot be changed] as a covenant that neither time nor eternity, life nor death, will ever be able to violate [change]

 

—a covenant as old as eternity and as everlasting as the Rock of ages.

       

They rejoice also to feast upon the fullness of this covenant, for they see in it all things provided for them. God is their portion [part], Christ their companion, the Spirit their Comforter, earth their lodge, and heaven their home.

 

They see in it an inheritance reserved and entailed to every soul possessing an interest in its ancient and eternal deed of gift [certificate of ownership]. Their eyes sparkled when they saw it as a treasure-trove in the Bible;

 

but oh! how their souls were gladdened when they saw in the last will and testament of their divine kinsman that it was bequeathed [willed] to them!

 

More especially it is the pleasure of God's people to contemplate the graciousness of this covenant. They see that

 

the law was made void because it was a covenant of works and depended on merit,

 

but this [God’s Covenant] they perceive to be enduring because grace is the basis, grace [is] the condition, grace [is] the strain [descendants of a common ancestor], grace [is] the bulwark [bunker against danger], grace [is] the foundation, grace [is] the topstone [keystone].

 

The covenant is a treasury of wealth, a granary of food, a fountain of life, a storehouse of salvation, a charter of peace, and a haven of joy.

EVENING  August 26th  

"THE PEOPLE, WHEN THEY BEHELD HIM, WERE GREATLY AMAZED, AND RUNNING TO HIM SALUTED [Greeted] HIM. " —Mark9:15

HOW great the difference between Moses and Jesus!  When the prophet of Horeb [Moses] had been forty days upon the mountain, he underwent a kind of transfiguration so that his countenance shone with exceeding brightness and he put a veil over his face, for the people could not endure to look upon his glory.

 

Not so our Savior. He had been transfigured with a greater glory than that of Moses, and yet, it is not written that the people were blinded by the blaze of His countenance, but rather they were amazed, and running to Him they saluted [greeted] Him.

        

 

The glory of the law repels, but the greater glory of Jesus attracts. Though Jesus is holy and just, yet blended with His purity there is so much of truth and grace that sinners run to Him amazed at His goodness, fascinated by ; His love  they salute [Greet] Him, become His disciples, and take Him to be their Lord and Master.

Reader, it may be that just now you are blinded by the dazzling brightness of the law of God. You feel its claims on your conscience, but you cannot keep [obey] it in your life. Not that you find fault with the law, on the contrary, it commands your profoundest esteem, still you are in nowise drawn by it to God; you are rather hardened in heart, and are verging towards [on the verge of]  desperation. Ah, poor heart!

 

Turn your eye from Moses, with all his repelling splendor, and look to Jesus, resplendent with milder glories. Behold His flowing wounds and thorn-crowned head!

 

He is the Son of God, and therein He is greater than Moses, but He is the Lord of love, and therein more tender than the lawgiver. He bore the wrath of God, and in His death revealed more of God's justice than Sinai on a blaze [the burning bush of Moses],

 

but that justice is now vindicated, and henceforth it is the guardian of believers in Jesus [Christ]. 

 

Sinner look to the bleeding Savior, and as you feel the at traction of His love, fly to His arms, and you will be saved.

A SINNER’S  PRAYER August 26th

     

    WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED.
-Acts 2:21

 

    Pray and call on the name of the Lord Jesus.

 

Please Pray like this:

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and it’s hopeless for me to save myself. Without you and your death on the cross I would spend eternity in Hell.

I know that me doing my best or being good (in my own opinion)  and justifying my own behavior as "good"  or "OK"  can never be enough to save me.
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me. 
I come to You   right now.  Lord Jesus. Will You  please save me.  I believe You died on the cross in my place to pay for my sin debt and put to death my sin nature. I know  You always keep your word.  Please save me. You have said and  it’s written in the Bible that you won’t reject anyone who comes to you. Thank You.

I  give myself completely to You, Lord Jesus. I’m sorry for every sin I’ve done and I now turn away from each one and look to You to forgive me, save me and deliver me from future evil.  Thank you for forgiving  all of  my sins by dying on the cross paying the punishment that I deserve.  I’m a sinner by nature and by my actions. But now I'm washed clean by Your blood that was shed for me at the cross.

Thank you Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was bor n and that You love me now and will always love me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father other than by You.

Thank you Father that You have made a way for me to see myself as ungodly.  But,  because You are good You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in the Lord Jesus.  You have forgiven me because He took my place and You have provided for  me to be born again [born from above, born of the Holy Spirit]. 
You prompted this desire and faith to believe in Your only begotten Son who,gave up  His life and died on the cross to pay my sin debt, not mine alone, but the sins of the whole world.

Thank You, righteous Father of love that you allowed Jesus to suffer and die raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus there is no condemnation. After You raised Him from the dead You gave Him a Glorified, [everlasting] physical body and  after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with  You  in heaven. 

 

Thank you for saving me.  I pray this in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ with a grateful heart.   Thank You for saving me heavenly Father and for the Comforter, The Spirit of Truth, for my guidance and solemn instruction into all truth.,  Amen.”

Thank You Holy Spirit of Truth, Comforter, Paraclete [one who comes along side]  for the new life in Jesus and victory that comes when I recon myself dead indeed unto sin and alive unto God through Christ Jesus our Lord trusting You, Holy Spirit for the execution of this vow. Romans 6:11

Thank you, Holy Spirit, that you always bear witness of and exalt the Lord Jesus.  John 16:8-11

 

With all my heart, thank you Lord for saving me.
Abide in me Lord Jesus in Your name I pray, Amen.

 David Hocking  makes the case for the Best English translation of the Bible, pointing out the error of new Critical Text and its erroneous Critical Text Theory used in all other modern English translations due to the use of Westcott and Hort’s inferior Greek New Testament that uses incomplete and conflicting Greek manuscripts rather than the coherent and reliable Traditional Text [Received Text (Textus Receptus)] for the New Testament and the Masoretic Hebrew Text for the New and Old Testament respectively of the Authorized King James Bible.

The natural will is cold, hard iron, which cannot be hammered into form, but the renewed will, like molten metal, is soon molded by the hand of [God’s] grace. In the fleshy heart there is a tenderness of the affections.  

The hard heart does not love the Redeemer, but the renewed heart burns with affection towards Him. The hard heart is selfish and coldly demands, "Why should I weep for sin? Why should I love the Lord?"

 

But the heart of flesh says;

"Lord, You know that I love You; help me to love You more!"

 

Many are the privileges of this renewed heart;   " 'Tis [It is] here the [Holy] Spirit dwells, 'tis here that Jesus rests."  It is fitted to receive every spiritual blessing, and every blessing comes to it. It is prepared to yield every heavenly fruit to the honor and praise of God, and therefore the Lord delights in it.

 

A tender heart is the best defense against sin, and the best preparation for heaven. A renewed heart stands on its watchtower [on guard] looking for the coming of the Lord Jesus.

Requiem Note: *Charles Dumah Riley, Sr. (AKA: Daddy, "CD", and Paw Paw) 1897 – 1987

JM witnessed the last few hours of his *Daddy’s life on earth coming to an end and heard him say only “Amen” over and over, in the belief  that he was affirming and agreeing with God’s will in the conclusion of his own life’s and giving a testimony of God’s goodness to him and his agreement and his surrender to his earthly departure to be eternally present with the Lord Jesus. 

Amen... Amen… and  Amen!

 

My Daddy’s  prayer before every meal, always offered with all gravity, reverence and always heard in the unique sound of his deep Bass prayer voice:

“Accept our thanks for these and all other blessings, we humbly ask in Thy name, Amen.”

The Incomplete and unsealed codices of Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are not majority texts, [Original Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus]. Sinaiticus and Vaticanus present variant, ambiguous and erroneous readings rather than that of the well-established and settled texts. They disagree often with one another as well as with the settled majority texts. Thus, an attempt to create a pretext that will continue to justify a never-ending demand for additional editions and interpretations. These unsettled differences and bias in certain sectarian doctrine [dogma] have led to the production of multiple “modern” editions with ambiguities, many variant readings and confusion from the explosion of unending, new editions.

Profit-driven publishers have embraced such an economic windfall to sell a continual flow of “new and better” English edition of The Bible. They give too little attention to the fidelity and accuracy already settled [in heaven] in majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the  Greek Textus Receptus.

(1 One)   His Name is INCOMPREHENSIBLE!

Exodus 3:13-15 “13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? 14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. 15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.”

No, I’m Traditional Text only. But if you come to the view and the conviction of being Traditional Text only, you will be Only King James.

The issue is not translational.

Marketing ploys by publishing companies with little basis in reality would have us to believe that the new versions  are:
 

• Easier to read.

• More modern.

• More accurate (Not  true)
   

The truth is that the KJV remains The most popular. (is still the most popularly read Bible in America). Over five billion copies of the King James (1769) is greater than all the other versions and editions combined.

The issue comes down to the textual issue. By That, I refer to the underlying Greek text. I guess we could say texts, plural but particularly that of the New Testament. On the one hand is the Traditional Text from which the only major English translation is the King James Version of the Bible. The Traditional Text.

On the other hand, is the Critical Text sometimes called the eclectic text from whence all the other translations come. And some will say well there really is no difference between them. The difference you could amount to is just the footnotes in the bottom of a page. (This is Not true) He was not dishonest but just repeating what someone had told him.
