A SINNER’S PRAYER 

PRAYER 8,       Part 5 of 7
A PRAYER FOR HOLINESS.

            Lord, help the converted [born-again] child to be correct in his relation to his parents; help the Christian father or mother to be right in dealing with children,

“may they not provoke their children to anger [anger them on purpose] lest [for fear that] they may discourage [them].”

Take away willfulness [strong willed behavior] from the young; take away impatience from the old. Lord, help Christian business men and women. May they act uprightly; may Christian masters [owners] never be hard [unfairly harsh] to their domestic helpers, or to their employees; and may Christian workers, give to their bosses that which is just and equal in the way of work in return for [their] wage. May we as Christians be diligent in business, but always be willing each one to minister to the help of others.

[In Jesus Name and for His sake, honor and glory, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 44:  A True Friend.
           Young lady, you speak of a dear friend whom you acquired last night in a ball-room [bar].  Do not, I beseech you, misuse the word; he is not a friend if he was acquired merely there; friends are better things than those which grow in the hot-house of pleasure.  Friendship is a more lasting plant than those.

[So] You have a friend, have you? Yes; and he keeps a pair of horses, and has a good establishment. Ah! but your best way to prove your friend is to know that he will be your friend when you have not so much as a mean [small] cottage, and when, houseless and without clothing, you are driven to beg your bread. Thus, you would make true proof of a [true] friend.

            Give me a friend who was born in the winter time, whose cradle was rocked in the storm;  they will last. Our fair-weather friends shall flee away from us. I had rather have a robin for a friend than a swallow; for a swallow abides with us only in the summer time, but a robin cometh to us in the winter.  Those are tight friends that will come the nearest to us when we are in the most distress; but those are not friends who speed themselves [run] away when ill times come. 

            Believer, hast thou [do you have] reason to fear that Christ will leave you now? Has he not been with you in the house of mourning [during grief and sadness]?   You found your friend where men find pearls, “ in caverns deep, where darkness dwells ;”  you found Jesus in your hour of trouble. It was on the bed of sickness that you first learned the value of his name; it was in the hour of mental anguish that you first did lay hold of the  hem of his garment; and since then, your nearest and sweetest fellowship has been held with him in the hours of darkness.

THE DEW OF HEAVEN

          What the dew in the East [for Andrew Marvell’s poem, On a Drop of Dew], is to the world of nature,  that is the influence of the Spirit in the realm of grace. How greatly do I need it!  Without the Spirit of God, I am a dry and withered thing. 

I droop,  I fade,  I die. How sweetly does this dew refresh me! When once favored with it [it comes]  I feel happy,  lively,  vigorous,  elevated.  I want nothing more. The Holy Spirit brings me life, and all that life requires. All else without the dew of the Spirit is less than nothing to me:

I hear, I read, I pray, I sing, I go to the table of communion, and I find no blessing there until  the Holy Ghost visits me. But when He bedews me, every means [instrumentality] of grace is sweet and profitable.

            What a promise is this for me! 

-His heavens shall drop down dew.-  

I shall be visited with grace. I shall not be left to my natural drought [thirst],  or to the world’s burning heat, or to the sirocco [hot wind] of Satanic temptation.

            Oh, that I may at this very hour feel the gentle, silent, saturating dew of the Lord! Why should I not [why shouldn’t  I] ?   He who has made me to live as the grass lives in the meadow, will treat me as He treats the grass; He will refresh me from above.

            Grass cannot call for dew as I do. Surely, the Lord who visits the un-praying plant will answer to His pleading child.

Prayer: Thank You Lord Jesus, that you refresh and restore all who trust in You. What a promise!  Jesus, keep me close to you till Your refreshment comes,  in Your name Lord Jesus I pray,  Amen.

MORNING   September 13

"Who passing through the valley of  Baca make it a well, the rain also filleth [fills] the pools. "  —Psalm 84:6

            THIS teaches us that the comfort obtained by one may often prove serviceable to another;  just as wells would be used by the company who came after. We read some book full of consolation, which is like Jonathan's rod, dripping with honey. 
       Ah! we think, our brother has been here before us and dug this well for us as well as for himself.  [In Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress  (tap/click for complete text)] Many a "Night of Weeping,"  "Midnight Harmonies," and  "Eternal Day,"  "A Crook in the Lot," a  "Comfort for Mourners," has been a well, dug by a pilgrim for himself, but has proved quite as useful to others. We notice this especially in the Psalms, such as that beginning,

         "Why art thou cast down, 0 my soul?"  Travelers have been delighted to see the footprint of man on a barren shore,  and we love to see the waymarks [tracks]  of pilgrims while passing through the vale [valley] of tears.
      The pilgrims dig the well, but, strange enough, it fills from the top instead of the bottom. We use the means, but the blessing does not spring from the means. We dig a well, but heaven fills it with rain. The horse is prepared [trained and armor fitted] against the day of battle, but

safety is of the Lord. 

The means are connected with the end, but they do not of themselves produce it. 

See here, the rain fills the pools, so that the wells become useful as reservoirs for the water; 

labor is not lost, but yet it does not supersede divine help.

         Grace may well be compared to rain for its purity, for its refreshing and vivifying [life giving] influence, for its coming alone from above, and for the sovereignty with which it is given or withheld.  May our readers have

Showers Of Blessing (Sing this, won’t you?)

  and may the wells they have dug be filled with water! Oh, what are means and ordinances without the smile of heaven! They are as clouds without rain, and pools without water. 0 God of love,

open the windows of heaven and pour us out a blessing!

EVENING   September 13

"This man receiveth sinners. " —Luke 15:2

            OBSERVE the fact of condescension. [the Word became flesh]  
This Man, [Jesus Christ] who towers above all other men, holy, harmless, undefiled, and separate from sinners—
this Man receives [welcomes and cares for]  sinners                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               This man, who is no other than the eternal God, before whom angels veil [cover] their faces—this Man receives [cares for] sinners. An angel's tongue is needed to describe such a mighty stoop [bending down] of love. That any of us should be willing to seek after the lost [non-believers] is nothing wonderful—they are of our own race; but that He, the offended God against whom the transgression has been committed, should take on Himself the form of a servant, and bear the sin of many and should then be willing to receive [allow them in His presence], the vilest of the vile—this is marvelous.

Not, however, that they may remain sinners, but He receives them that He may

pardon their sins,

cleanse their hearts by His purifying word,

preserve their souls by the indwelling of the Holy Ghost [Spirit], and

enable them to serve Him,

to show forth His praise, and

to have communion [fellowship] with Him .

Into His heart's love He receives [admits] sinners, takes them from the dunghill, [garbage heap] and wears them as jewels in His crown; plucks them as brands [torches] from the burning fire, and preserves them as costly monuments of His mercy.

None are so precious in Jesus' sight as the sinners for whom He died. When Jesus receives sinners He has not some out-of-doors reception place, no casual ward [informalroom] [no second-class place for second-class guests] where He charitably entertains them as men do passing beggars, but [No.] He opens the golden gates of His royal heart and receives the sinner

right into Himself—

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 yes, He admits the humble penitent into personal union and makes Him a member of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones. There was never such a reception as this! This fact is still most sure [certain] this evening: He is still receiving sinners.

A SINNER’S  PRAYER

Whosoever shall call on the name of the lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

 Pray and call on the name of the Lord Jesus, like this. Won’t you? 

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and hopeless to save myself. Without you and your blood that was shed for me and Your death on the cross  I would spend eternity in Hell’s fire.

Thank you Lord Jesus that You love me and died for me before I was born and that You have always loved me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father but by You.  

Thank you, Father that You have caused for me to see myself as I am; a lost sinner.  But,  because of Your love and goodness, You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in You, Lord Jesus.  You took my place on the cross and provided the way for  me to be forgiven. Thank You.
Thank You that You prompted a desire in me to believe in You, the only begotten  Son of God who died on the cross to be the sacrifice that would  atone for my sins.

Thank You, Father for Your love that allowed Jesus to suffer and die in my place. Thank You that You raised Jesus from the dead. He is RISEN and is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus I am free.

You raised Jesus from the dead, gave Him a Glorified body and after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with You  in heaven.  

Thank you, Father,  for saving me in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Thank you, Holy Spirit, that you always give witness to and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ.

With all my heart, thank you Lord for saving me.

        Spurgeon's written materials are for the edification of the church body as well as a great benefit, blessing and challenge to all readers. Our desire is that the written Word of God will become the Living  Word in each and every reader. God has preserved His Word in The Masoretic Hebrew of the Old Testament and the GreekTextus Receptus of the New Testament:
 

In contrast, the Incomplete and unsealed codices of Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are not translated from the  over 5,312 Majority Text Greek manuscripts, that became the Textus Receptus [Original Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus]. Sinaiticus and Vaticanus present variant, ambiguous and erroneous readings rather than that of the well-established and settled texts. They disagree often with one another as well as with the settled majority texts. Thus, an attempt to create a pretext that will continue to justify a never-ending demand for additional editions and interpretations. These unsettled differences and bias in certain sectarian doctrine [dogma] have led to the production of multiple “modern” editions with ambiguities, many variant readings and confusion from the explosion of unending, new editions.

Profit-driven publishers have embraced such an economic windfall to sell a continual flow of “new and better” English edition of The Bible. They give too little attention to the fidelity and accuracy already settled [in heaven] in majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the  Greek Textus Receptus.

God, Himself, providentially protects and preserves His Word. His Word is the God-breathed, self-authenticating, immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful Word, settled in heaven. He is not the author of confusion.

The Believer’s Vow

Genesis 28.20

New believers when truly enlightened and saved are moved to make a pledge or vow to God, which will be renewed and deepened throughout this pilgrimage. Here are the important features of such vows, their scope, and their benefits and blessings.

The above link is to search for specific words or Scriptures in the King James inerrant and infallible  English Version  (KJV)  because it is providentially protected and preserved by GOD Himself through the only translation into English by faithful brethren from the 5,312 established majority text manuscripts MT from which the New Testament  Greek Textus Receptus [received text] was taken  and the Hebrew Masoretic Text of the Old Testament (Jewish Tanakh).  These manuscripts are providentially protected, and frequently give greater glory to God when compared to variant readings of all modern translations from Modern Critical Texts based on only 55 hand picked inferior Greek manuscripts fabricated from either Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland. Both of these Greek textual sources follow an assumption that OLDER IS BETTER. Of course, this assumption is not valid if the older manuscripts contain error.

The established majority manuscripts and the Textus Receptus avoid doctrinal error, and inaccuracies in translation, uninspired editorial notations, variant or ambiguous readings which taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus.

Copyright: The King James Version is distinguished by the requirement of Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed by the Cambridge University Press, the Crown’s authorized printer. No one other than the Crown’s printer, is allowed print, copy or import the King James Bible into Great Brittan by order of the Crown.

In the United States there is no Copyright protection and the KJV  is deemed Public Domain. If a new publication changes at least a 10% of an existing  publication a lucrative Copyright can be granted. Therefore  the NKJV and many other copyrighted translations. Only the King James Version New Testament is unique from among the over 100 English translations that follow modern textual criticism and only the King James is translated from the superior Greek Textus Receptus as its Primary time tested and self-authenticating Greek text Source.

The inspired, god breathed, immortal words, were  uttered, word-by-word, to the  holy prophets and apostles who were chosen of God and moved by the holy ghost. These words are protected and preserved in holy scripture and are written word-by-word and are immutable, [unchangeable] without error, and infallible [incapable of making a mistake or being wrong]. and for ever [sic] settled in heaven by God himself in the self authenticating word of god, itself.

In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:

The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,

thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on a defective text. Those who want to honor the Word of God must not promote the use of any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is entirely  evil in itself, but because being contented to use a weakened version rather than the existing, preserved, without error unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has preserved for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it would be to Him if His people now chose instead to use versions that are  based on  defective Greek manuscript  created by Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Aland.

Let the biblical story of Nadab and Abihu be a lesson for us all:
