This powerful, inspirational docudrama faithfully recreates the times of C.H. Spurgeon and brings the “people’s preacher” to life as it follows his trials and triumphs with historical accuracy. Here is the intimate story of one of the greatest preachers in the history of the church. We follow him from his youth where, as a young preacher he is surprisingly called to minister in London and soon captures 2the love and respect of the nation. He goes on to become one of its most influential figures. This powerful, inspirational docudrama faithfully recreates the times of C.H. PRAYER 11, Part 1:  UNDER THE BLOOD
ANECDOTE  212:  God Ever Present.
FAITH’S CHECKBOOK:  WHAT FOLLOWS US

-Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life  -Psalm 23:6
MORNING February 29

-With lovingkindness have I drawn thee [led you].- —Jeremiah 31:3
EVENING February 29
"Now we have received ... the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God." —1 Corinthians 2:12
A  SINNER’S PRAYER:

PRAYER 11,    Part 1 of 10

UNDER THE BLOOD.
JEHOVAH our God, we thank Thee for leaving on record the story of Thine [Your] ancient people. It is full of instruction to ourselves [to us]. Help us to take its warning to avoid the faults into which they fell! Thou art a covenant God, and Thou keepest Thy promises [You keep Your promises] and Thy Word never faileth [Your word never fails]. We have proved this so hitherto : [up to this time]—

“Thus far [so far]  we find that promise good, Which Jesus ratified with blood.”

But as for ourselves we are like Israel of old, a fickle people [silly and capricious], and, we confess it with great shame, there are days when we take the timbrel [tambourine] and we sing with Miriam “unto the Lord who triumphed gloriously;” and yet, we grieve to say it, not many hours after, we are thirsty, and we cry for water, and we, murmur in our tents; the brackish Marah  [salty, bitter water] turns our heart and we are grieved with our God. Sometimes we bow before Thee with reverence and awe when we behold Thy Sinai altogether on a smoke [in the clouds]; but there have been times when we have set up the golden calf and we have said of some earthly things, “These be Thy gods, O Israel.” We believe with intensity of faith and then doubt with a horribleness of doubt. [Deliver us O lord from doubt]  [In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ] Amen. (Complete Prayer attached with e-mail as: PRAYER 11.doc)

ANECDOTE  212:  God Ever Present.

When Her Majesty, some months ago, heard of the desolation which had been caused by an accident in the pits, [coal mines] her tender heart hastened to the relief of the widow and the fatherless, but at the moment of the calamity she was not on the spot in person; she could not be in the pit to hear the groans and sustain the faith of the dying, nay she could not be in the cottage to mark the tear of the widow and to cheer her with heavenly promises; but our God is on the spot where calamity occurs, for in him we live and move and have our being. He is the greatest of comforters, and he is also the most approachable.
He is  -a very present help in time of trouble-.

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK   February 29            C.H. Spurgeon 1834—1892

WHAT FOLLOWS US

-Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life  -Psalm 23:6

A devout poet sings  -Lord, when thou Puttest in my time a day, as thou dost now, Unknown in other years, grant, I entreat, Such grace illume it, that what e’er [whatever] its phase it add to holiness, and lengthen praise!-

This day comes but once in four years, Oh, that we could win a fourfold blessing upon it! Up till now goodness and mercy, like two guards, have followed us from day to day, bringing up the rear even as grace leads the van; and as this out-of-the-way day is one of the days of our life, the two guardian angels will be with us today also. Goodness to supply our needs, and mercy to blot out our sins   -these twain shall attend our every step this day, and every day till days shall be no more. Wherefore, let us serve the Lord on this peculiar day with special consecration of heart, and sing His praises with more zest and sweetness than ever. Could we not today make an unusual offering to the cause of God, or to the poor? By inventiveness of love let us make this twenty-ninth of February a day to be remembered forever.

Prayer: Thank you Lord that goodness and mercy shall follow me [and all believers] all the days of my life [our lives]. I receive this in Jesus name, Amen.

MORNING   February   29

-With lovingkindness have I drawn thee [led you].- —Jeremiah 31:3
─Con amor eterno te he amado; por tanto te soporté con misericordia.
—Jeremías 31:3

THE thunders of the law and the terrors of judgment are all used to bring us to Christ; but the final victory is effected [brought about] by lovingkindness. The prodigal [wayward and rebellious son] set out to [go to] his father's house from a sense of need, but his father saw him [when he was still] a great way off and ran to meet him so that the last steps he took towards his father's house were with the [fresh] kiss still warm upon his cheek, and the welcome still musical in his ears,

Law and terrors do but harden

                      All the while they work alone;
But a sense of blood-bought pardon

Will dissolve a heart of stone.

The Master came one night to the door" and knocked with the iron hand of the law. The door shook and trembled upon its hinges, but the man [inside] piled every piece of furniture he could find against the door, for he said, "I will not admit the man [I will not let him come in]." The Master turned away. But by-and-bye [at just the right time] He came back and with His own soft hand, using most that part where the nail [on the cross] had penetrated, he knocked again—oh, so softly and tenderly. This time the door did not shake, but, strange to say, it opened, and there on his knees the once unwilling host was found rejoicing to receive his guest. "Come in, come in; you have so [tenderly] knocked that my heart is moved for you. I could not think of your pierced [gashed] hand [wounded on the cross] leaving its blood-mark on my door and of you going away houseless [homeless], 'Thy [your] head filled with dew, and thy locks [your hair] with the [rain] drops of the night.' I yield, I yield [I give-up], your love has won my heart." So in every case loving-kindness wins the day. What Moses with the tablets of stone could never do, [Jesus] Christ does with His pierced [gashed] hand. Such is the doctrine [teaching] of effectual [irresistible] calling. Do I understand it experimentally [experientially, by personal experience]? Can I say, "He drew [led] me, and I followed on, glad to confess the voice divine?" If so, may He continue to draw [lead] me until at last I shall sit down at the marriage supper of the Lamb [heavenly feast when all the redeemed (saved) are gathered to celebrate with the Lord, the Lamb of God].

 EVENING  February 29

"Now we have received ... the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God." —1 Corinthians 2:12
Y nosotros hemos recibido, …, sino el Espíritu que es de Dios, para que  conozcamos lo que Dios nos ha dado; —1 Corintios 2:12

DEAR reader, have you received the spirit which is of God, placed by the Holy Spirit in your soul? The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit in the heart may be clearly seen from this fact, that all which has been done by God the Father, and by God the Son, cannot be effectual for us, unless the Spirit reveals these things to our souls. What effect does the doctrine of election have upon any man until the Spirit of God enters into him? Election is a dead letter in my consciousness until the Spirit of God calls me out of darkness into marvelous light. Then through my calling, I see my election, and knowing myself to be called of God, I know myself to have been chosen in the eternal purpose. A covenant was made with the Lord Jesus Christ, by His Father; but what avails that covenant to us until the Holy Spirit brings us its blessings, and opens our hearts to receive them? There hang the blessings on the nail—Christ Jesus. But being short of stature, we cannot reach them. The Spirit of God takes them down and hands them to us, and thus they become actually ours. Covenant blessings in themselves are like the manna in the skies, far out of mortal reach, but the Spirit of God opens the windows of heaven and scatters the living bread around the camp of the spiritual Israel. Christ's finished work is like wine stored in the wine-vat; through unbelief we can neither draw nor drink. The Holy Spirit dips our vessel into this precious wine, and then we drink; but without the Spirit we are as truly dead in sin as though the Father never had elected, and though the Son had never bought us with His blood. The Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary to our well-being. Let us walk lovingly towards Him and tremble at the thought of grieving Him.

A SINNER’S PRAYER:   … FOR WHOSOEVER: [One and all]

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved     … pray like this, won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am hopeless.  I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross for my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned to Hell. I have been  self-centered from birth.  Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m guilty and sorry for each and every sin I have done and look to You to forgive me of them all.
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You,  Lord Jesus, right now to save me.  You died on the cross for me, because of my sin  and You say,  “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21.

Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me,  I trust You, to  be my Lord and Savior from now on.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins.  I ask You to abide in me and give me the desire to always follow You.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross.  Even the sins of the whole world.

Thank you,  Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me even before I was born and that You still love me now. I love You too.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You have called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting  in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. Romans  8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [Holy Ghost, Comforter, Spirit of Truth]

Thank You for saving me heavenly Father. With all my heart, thank you Father for saving me in Jesus’ name,  Amen.

Allow us to share the joy of your new birth with heaven. Won’t you? Heaven rejoices over each redeemed sinner. Luke 15:7

You too can cast your cares on the Lord…

  1. Call on Him. As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.. ...Psalm 55:16

  2. Trust Him. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass ... Psalm 37:5

  3. Come to Him. Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest..  Matthew 11:28

  4. Give Him the burden.  Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22]

MISSION STATEMENT:

·       Faith’s Checkbook

·       Morning & Evening

These titles are selected from the inspired body of work created from the preaching and writing of Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892. He created an excellent  legacy of gospel preaching and exposition and is known as the “Prince of Preachers”.  Spurgeon has been and is today widely read with great benefit from the 1800’s to this present time. He is the beloved founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England (Still thriving TODAY through the faithful preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.)  [Click to live-stream current gospel preaching in real time each Sunday from London by Dr. Peter Masters, Metropolitan Tabernacle pastor since 1970.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, please bless Your disciples toward the winning of many souls, and help us to be loving and compassionate toward all who are in need, especially those in the household of faith. I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and for His sake, Amen.

Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not praise or exalt  Charles H. Spurgeon beyond the honor due him. He didn’t need or want it when he was on earth and would have no need or desire for it now. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM and Him crucified.

Precaution: These Messages and prayers alone will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus. Neither do they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word. (The King James version (KJV), known also as the Authorized Version (AV), is the preferred English Bible because its accuracy and fidelity to the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text) avoid doctrinal and editorial weaknesses found in many contemporary editions.

Prayer Selection by Spurgeon must not be offered as a substitute for personal, intimate fervent, heart-felt, prayer. It  is intended rather, to warm the hearts of those who are in prayer seeking a season of authentic two-way, heart-to-heart  fellowship and prayer with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit. Read from the NT Book of Romans Chapter 8.

VIDEO Explaining  the Man-made explosion of Compromised English Translations of the Holy BIBLE      (Video)

Brooke Foss Westcott and Fenton John Anthony Hort  (Text )

URL:
https://www.febc.edu.sg/v15/article/def_the_inside_story_of_westcott_and_hort

In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:

* Letters from close relatives are quoted in the Inside Story above

The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,

thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on a defective text. Those who want to honor the Word of God must not promote the use of any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is evil in itself, but because the attitude of being contented to use a blemished version rather than an existing unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has taken the trouble to preserve for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it would be to Him if His people now chose instead to change over to a version that is based on a defective text.

Let the biblical story of Nadab and Abihu be a lesson to all:

And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp. So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said. And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled” (Lev 10:1–6).
