PRAYER 22, June 16th Part 9 of 11 THE PRESENCE OF GOD
O, Jehovah, Thou art the true God, God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, this God is our God for ever and ever; He shall be our guide even unto death. Them who spakest [spoke] by the apostles speak still by Thy servants, and let Thy Word be with as much power as when Thou sadist [said it] ,
“Let there be light, and there was light.”
Oh! for the lifting up of Thy voice! Let confusion and darkness once again hear the voice of Him that makes order and that giveth [gives] life. Oh! how we would stir Thee up, Thou gracious God. Our prayers would take the form of that ancient one,
“Awake, awake, put on Thy strength.”
Art [are] Thou not He that cut Egypt and wounded the crocodile? Hast [have] Thou not still the same power to smite [strike] and to vindicate Thine own truth and deliver Thine own redeemed?
O Lamb, slain from before the foundation of the world, Thou art still to sit upon the throne, for He that is on the throne looks like a Lamb that has been newly slain. O Jesus, we beseech [implore] Thee take to Thyself Thy great power; divide the spoil [plunder] with the strong; take the purchase of Thy precious blood and rule from the river even unto the ends of the earth.
Here we are before Thee; look on us in great pity. Lord, bless Thine own people. With favor do Thou compass [please surround] them as with a shield.
Lord, save the unsaved.
In great compassion draw them by the attractive magnet of the cross, draw them to Thyself, compel them to come in that the wedding may be furnished with guests.

ANECDOTE 320: June 16th June 16th A FUTILE PRAYER.
It has been well observed by an old divine [Godly Man], that the man who pleads his own merit does not pray, but demands his due.
If I ask a man to pay me a debt, I am not a suppliant, but a plaintiff claiming my rights. The prayer of a man who thinks he is meritorious is like serving the Lord with a writ: it is not offering a request, it is issuing a demand. Merit in effect says,
“Pay me that thou owest [Pay me what you owe me]”.
Little, will such a man get of God.

When the Lord has given to a man much grace, He will give him more. A little faith is a nest egg; more faith will come to it. But then it must not be seeming [presumed] faith, but real and true. What a necessity is laid upon us to make sure work in religion and not to profess much, and possess nothing!
for one of these days the very profession will be taken from us, if that be all we have.
The threatening is as true as, the promise. Blessed be the Lord, it is His way when He has once made a beginning to go on bestowing the graces of His Spirit, till He who had but little, and yet truly had that little, is made to have abundance. Oh, for that abundance!
Abundance of grace is a thing to be coveted.
It would be well to know much, but better to love much. It would be delightful to have abundance of skill to serve God, but
better still to have abundance of faith to trust in the Lord for skill and everything [else].
Lord, since thou hast [have] given me a sense of sin,
deepen my hatred of evil.
Since thou hast [have] caused me to trust Jesus, raise my faith to full assurance.
Since thou hast [have] made me to love Thee, cause me to be carried away with vehement affection [fervent, faithful love] for Thee!
Prayer: Thank You Lord Jesus, for grace. It is well to have an abundance, but better still to love much. It is delightful to have an abundance of skill to serve You Lord, but better still to have abundance of faith to trust You Lord for everything. Lord, as thou have given me a sense of sin, deepen my hatred of evil.
Since thou have caused me to trust Jesus, raise my faith to a full and Blessed Assurance.
Since thou have made me to love Thee, cause me to be carried away with a passionate love for Thee! in Your name Lord Jesus, I pray, Amen.
MORNING June 16th
"AND I GIVE UNTO THEM ETERNAL LIFE, AND THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH."

THE Christian should never think or speak lightly of unbelief. For a child of God to mistrust His love, His truth, His faithfulness, must be greatly displeasing to Him. How can we ever grieve [disappoint] Him by doubting His upholding grace?
Christian, it is contrary to every promise of God's precious Word that you should ever be forgotten or left to perish. If it could be so, how could He be true who has said,
"Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I never forget you."
What were the value of that promise
"The mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but My kindness shall not depart from you, neither shall the covenant of My peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on you"?
Where were the truth of Christ's words
"I give unto My sheep eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand"?
Where would the doctrines of grace be? They would be all disproved
if one child of God should perish.
Where would be the veracity [truth] of God, His honor, His power, His grace, His covenant, His oath, if any of those for whom Christ has died, and who have put their trust in Him, should nevertheless be cast away?
Banish [forbid forever] those unbelieving fears which so dishonor God. Arise, shake yourself from the dust, and put on your beautiful garments.
Remember it is sinful to doubt His Word wherein
He has promised you that you will never perish.
Let the eternal life within you express itself in confident rejoicing.
The gospel bears my spirit up:
A faithful and unchanging God
Lays the foundation for my hope,
In oaths, and promises, and blood.
EVENING June 16th "THE LORD IS MY LIGHT AND MY SALVATION; WHOM SHALL I FEAR?
The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" -Psalm 27:1

THE Lord is my light and my salvation."
Here is personal interest,
"my light," "my salvation."
The soul is assured of it, and therefore declares it boldly. Divine light is poured into the soul at the new birth as the precursor [bringer] of salvation;
where there is not enough light to reveal our own darkness and to make us long for the Lord Jesus, there is no evidence of salvation.
After conversion [being born again] our God is our joy, comfort, guide, teacher, and in every sense, our light: He is light within, light around, light reflected from us, and light to be revealed to us. Note, it is not said that the Lord merely gives light, but that He is light; nor that He gives salvation, but that He is salvation; he, then, who by faith has laid hold on God has all covenant blessings in his possession. This being made sure as a fact, the argument drawn from it is put in the form of a question
"Whom shall I fear?"
a question which is its own answer.
The powers of darkness are not to be feared, for the Lord, our light, destroys them; and the damnation of hell is not to be dreaded by us, for the Lord is our salvation.
This is a very different challenge from that of boastful Goliath, for it rests, not on the conceited vigor of an arm of [physical] flesh, but
upon the real power of the omnipotent [all-powerful] "I am" [The name God gave to Moses for Himself]. Exodus 3:14].
"The Lord is the strength of my life."
Here is a third glowing epithet [Light, Salvation & Strength] , to show that the writer's hope was fastened with a threefold cord which could not be broken. We may well accumulate terms of praise where the Lord lavishes deeds of grace. Our life derives all its strength from God; and if He deigns [chooses] to make us strong, we cannot be weakened by all the machinations [futile falsehoods] of the adversary.
"Of whom shall I be afraid?" The bold question looks into the future as well as the present.
If God be for us, who can be against us, either now or in time to come?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and hopeless to save myself. Without you and your blood that was shed for me and Your death on the cross I would spend eternity in Hell’s fire.
Thank you Lord Jesus that You love me and died for me before I was born and that You have always loved me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father but by You.
Thank you, Father that You have caused for me to see myself as I am; a lost sinner. Thank You, Father for Your love that allowed Jesus to suffer and die in my place. Thank You that You raised Jesus from the dead. He is RISEN and is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus I am free. You raised Jesus from the dead, gave Him a Glorified body and after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with You in heaven. The issue is not translational.
Marketing ploys by publishing companies with little basis in reality would have us to believe that the new versions are:

The truth is that the KJV remains The most popular. (is still the most popularly read Bible in America). Over five billion copies of the King James (1769) is greater than all the other versions and editions combined.
The issue comes down to the textual issue. By That, I refer to the underlying Greek text. I guess we could say texts, plural but particularly that of the New Testament. On the one hand is the Traditional Text from which the only major English translation is the King James Version of the Bible. The Traditional Text.
On the other hand, is the Critical Text sometimes called the eclectic text from whence all the other translations come. And some will say well there really is no difference between them. The difference you could amount to is just the footnotes in the bottom of a page. (This is Not true) He was not dishonest but just repeating what someone had told him.

They have no worry, no debts to pay,
They love to fight, most every day.
No married partner by his side,
No wife, no kids, no gorgeous bride.
But God’s dear Word hath set the tone:
“It’s Not so good, that man’s alone.”
It isn’t right! Don’t stand between us!
“Marry Then!” said Valentinus.
By the scores he helped them wed.
In Holy bliss they always said.
Valentinus was arrested,
By his loved one he was tested.
She was blind and could not hear.
His prayer to God, God did hold dear.
Smitten by her love and charms;
He Saved the Jailer from all harms.
The Jailer heard the Savior’s call;
Forever saved him, all-in-all.
When on the path to martyrdom,
He sent his sweet, “Be mine.”

ANECDOTE 221 March 9th: GOD OUR DELIVERER.
If God does not deliver his servants at one time as well as another, he has not kept his promise. For a man of truth is always true, and a promise once given always stands. A promise cannot be broken now and then, and yet the honor of the person giving it be maintained by his keeping it at other times. The word of a true [honest] man stands always good: it is good now. This is logic, bitter logic, cold steel logic, logic which seems to cut right down your backbone and cleave [stick to] your chine [spine]. “He trusted on the Lord that he would deliver him: let him deliver him now.” Yet this hard logic can be turned to comfort. I told you a story the other day of the brother in Guy’s Hospital to whom the doctors said he must undergo an operation which was extremely dangerous. They gave him a week to consider whether he would submit to it. He was troubled for his young wife and children, and for his work for the Lord. A friend left a bunch of flowers for him, with this verse as its motto, “He trusted in God; let him deliver him now.”
“Yes,” he thought, “;now.” In prayer he cast himself upon the Lord, and felt in his heart, “Come on, doctors, I am ready for you.” When the next morning came, he refused to take chloroform, for he desired to go to heaven in his senses [without being put to sleep with drugs] . He bore [had] the operation manfully, and he is yet alive. ________________________________________

The principle involved in this text would suggest to all of us who are the Lord’s strangers and foreigners that we should be desirous to promote the peace and prosperity of the people among whom we dwell. Specially should our nation and our city be blest by our constant intercession [of prayer]. An earnest prayer for your country and other countries is well becoming [beautiful]in the mouth of every believer. Eagerly let us pray for the great boon [blessing] of peace, both at home and abroad. If strife should cause bloodshed in our streets, or if foreign battle should slay our brave soldiers, we should all bewail [weep because of] the calamity; let us therefore pray for peace, and diligently promote those principles by which the classes [all types of people] at home and the races abroad may be bound together in bonds of amity [kindness and friendship].
We ourselves are promised quiet in connection with the peace of the nation, and this most desirable; for thus we can bring up our families in the fear of the Lord, and also preach the gospel without let [paying for license] or hindrance [opposition] .
Today let us be much in prayer for our country, confessing national sins, and asking for national pardon and blessing, for Jesus’ sake.
Prayer: Thank you, Father, that in praying for the peace of the city where we are, even if it is hostile we shall have peace thereby. Jeremiah 29:7 We [who trust in You and love Your law) have Great peace and nothing shall offend [take this peace from] us in Jesus’ name, Amen.

THE superlative [unsurpassed super] beauty of Jesus is all-attracting. It is not so much to be admired as to be loved; He is more than pleasant and fair, He is lovely. Surely the people of God can fully justify the use of this golden word, for He is the object of their warmest love, a love founded on the intrinsic [self-evident] excellence of His person, the complete perfection of His charms [holy attributes].
Look, O disciples of Jesus, to your Master's lips and say, "Are they not most sweet?" Do not His words cause your hearts to burn within you as He talks with you by the way? Worshipers of Immanuel [God with us], look up to His head of much fine gold, and tell me, are not His thoughts precious to you? Is not your adoration sweetened with affection as you humbly bow before that countenance [holy, glowing smile] which is as Lebanon, ex¬cellent as the [famous] cedars? Is there not a charm in His every feature, and is not His whole person so fragrant with such a savor [aroma] of His good ointments that the virgins love Him?
Is there one member of His glorious body that is not attractive? One portion of His person that is not a fresh loadstone [precious mother-load] to our souls? One office [structure] that is not a strong cord to bind your heart? Our love is not a seal set on His heart of love alone, it is fastened on [attached to] His arm of power also; nor is there a single part of Him on which it [our love] does not fix [consider and focus] itself. We anoint His whole person with the sweet spikenard [costly perfume] of our fervent love. His whole life we would [want to] imitate; His whole character we would duplicate. In all other beings we see some lack, in Him there is all perfection. The best of even His favored saints have had blots [spots and blemishes] upon their garments and wrinkles upon their brows; he is nothing but loveliness. All earthly suns have their spots: the fair world itself has its wilderness. COMMUNION with Christ is a certain cure for every ill. Whether it be the wormwood of woe, or the cloying [stuffed] excess of earthly delight, close fellowship with the Lord Jesus will take bitterness from the one, and satiety [overeating and drinking] from the other.
Live near to Jesus, Christian, and it is a matter of secondary importance whether you live on the mountain of honor or in the valley of humiliation. Living near to Jesus, you are covered with the wings of God, and underneath you are in the everlasting arms. Let nothing keep you from that hallowed intercourse [fellowship], which is the choice privilege of a soul wedded to the well-beloved.
Do not be content with an interview now and then, but always seek to retain His company, for only in His presence have you either [both, and] comfort or safety.
Jesus should not be a friend who calls on us now and then, but one with whom we walk evermore [always]. You have a difficult road before you: 0 traveler to heaven, see that you do not go without your guide. You have to pass through the fiery furnace, do not enter it unless, like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you have the Son of God as your companion. You have to storm [attack] the Jericho of your own corruptions: do not attempt the warfare until, like Joshua, you have seen the Captain of the Lord’s host with His sword drawn in His hand.
You are to meet the Esau of your many temptations: meet him not [don’t meet him] until you have laid hold on the angel and prevailed at Jabbok’s brook [where Jacob wrestled with God refusing to let go until he procured the blessing] . In every case, in every condition, you will need Jesus. But most of all, when the iron gates of death shall open to you, keep close to your soul’s Husband and lean your head upon His bosom [heart]. Ask to be refreshed with the spiced wine of His pomegranate, and you will be found of Him at the last, without spot or wrinkle, or any such thing.
Seeing you have lived with Him, and lived in Him here, you will abide with Him forever.

A person may come to Jesus by believing and (whole heartedly) praying like this:
“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and hopeless without You. I will never be able to save myself by my own merits. Without you and your death on the cross I would deserve and spend forever in Hell.
I know that me doing my best or being good (in my own opinion) and justifying my own behavior as "good" or "OK" will never save me.
I look to You, alone Lord Jesus to save me.
I come to You right now. Lord Jesus. Please save me. I believe You died on the cross in my place to pay for my sin debt and put to death my sin nature. I know You always keep your word. Please save me. You say and it’s written in the Bible that you won’t reject anyone who comes to You. I'm coming to You now. Thank You for saving me.
I give myself (all of myself) to You, Lord Jesus. I declare that You are my Savior and Lord. I’m sorry for and I turn away from every sin (every bad thought, every bad word I have spoken and every bad thing I have ever done) and look to You free me from the penalty of sin, to keep me free from the power of sin and empower me overcome any temptation from sin’s presence. Thank you for forgiving all of my sins by dying on the cross to pay the punishment that I deserve. (I was a sinner by nature and by behavior). But now I'm washed clean by Your blood that was shed [poured out] for me at Calvary [at the cross].
Thank you Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was born and that You love me now and will always love me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father other than by You.
Thank you Father that You have made a way for me to see myself as ungodly. But, because You are good You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in the Lord Jesus. You have forgiven me because He took my place and You have provided for me to be born again [born from above, born of the Holy Spirit].
You prompted this desire and faith to believe in Your only begotten Son who,gave up His life and died on the cross to pay my sin debt, not mine alone, but the sins of the whole world.
Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus there is no condemnation. After You raised Him from the dead You gave Him a Glorified, [everlasting] physical body and after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with You in heaven.
I pray this in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ with a grateful heart. Thank You for saving me heavenly Father and for sending the Comforter, The Spirit of Truth, for my guidance and solemn instruction into all truth., Amen.”
Thank You Holy Spirit of Truth, The Comforter, The Paraclete [true friend who is by your side and always has your back] for the new life in Jesus and the victory that comes when I recon myself dead indeed unto sin and alive unto God through Christ Jesus our Lord trusting You, Holy Spirit for Your empowerment to see this promise fulfilled. John 3:16 God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten [divinely fathered] Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but may be having eternal life.
vis. Textus Receptus [The Received Greek Text] (From the overwhelming majority of extant New Testament Greek manuscripts)
The Incomplete and unsealed codices of Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are not majority texts, [Original Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus]. Sinaiticus and Vaticanus present variant, ambiguous and erroneous readings rather than that of the well-established and settled texts. They disagree often with one another as well as with the settled majority texts. Thus, an attempt to create a pretext that will continue to justify a never-ending demand for additional editions and interpretations. These unsettled differences and bias in certain sectarian doctrine [dogma] have led to the production of multiple “modern” editions with ambiguities, many variant readings and confusion from the explosion of unending, new editions.
Profit-driven publishers have embraced such an economic windfall to sell a continual flow of “new and better” English edition of The Bible. They give too little attention to the fidelity and accuracy already settled [in heaven] in majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus.
89 Forever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations:
thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. [abides]
God, Himself, providentially protects and preserves His Word. His Word is the God-breathed, self-authenticating, immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful Word, settled in heaven. He is not the author of confusion.
