DEVOTION for  January 6th   *A,D, 2026. Written and calendared for this date by Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892.

________________________________________________

The inspired preaching, teaching and writings  of Charles Haddon Spurgeon were bedrock solid on God’s revealed Word, the Bible.  Spurgeon’s  written publications continue to benefit readers through inspired Gospel preaching and sound biblical teaching. His ministry continues to flourish in London’s   Metropolitan Tabernacle(Brief History)   a church begun in 1650. The building was constructed by members of the congregation in 1861. It continues to thrive and flourish today.

Charles Haddon Spurgeon’s Conversion   in 1850  in his own words.

All Bible versions that are NOT  translated from the Textus Receptus [The (traditional) Received Greek Text] include variant  readings that diminish the full  expressions of glory and the most Holy reverence due to the Omnipotent, Almighty GOD.  He preserves and protects it’s  immutably  in the 1769 Edition of the 1611 King James Version  KJV Bible. This version is also known as the Authorized King James  Version  AKJV and the  Authorized Version AV.  ALL GLORY is due and must be given to the Omnipotent and Omniscient  LORD of ALL.

The Geneva Bible was also faithfully translated from the Greek Textus Receptus and included  comments favorable to the Protestant Reformation  from inspired, devoted,  faithful Christian men of GOD; They were Puritan Believers known to be  beyond reproach.

This Bible was first brought to Plymouth Massachusetts  in the American Colonies by the Puritan Pilgrims guided by Captain Christopher Jones’s on the Mayflower sailing ship in 1620. A 1592 Edition of the Geneva Bible that belonging to a Mayflower passenger and the Governor of the Plymouth Colony (Later to become the State of   Massachusetts) by William Bradford and is on display at the Pilgrim Hall Museum in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the oldest continuously operating public museum in the United States.

The traditional Textus Receptus [Received Greek Text] unlike any other Greek Text was taken  from more than 5,321 original Majority Greek Manuscripts MT that agree 98% with one another. Other variant readings are translations invented by  either Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland. These fabricated Greek Texts were translated from only a handful [45] of Majority Text Manuscripts MT and  lack the  trustworthiness of  the inspired 1769 [1611] King James Version, KJV or the Geneva Bible and are the only two translations of the traditional, reliable, inspired, [GOD BREATHED] immutable and providentially and divinely protected Textus Receptus.

The Bridge to Babylon video presents evidence that tracks the explosion of more than 100 new versions of English translations  of the Bible. The continuing attempts to replace, add or take away from the 1769 edition of the King James Version KJV of the Holy Bible does not  prevail because GOD Himself preserves and protects The  inspired, inerrant, immutable and infallible  Holy Word of GOD from all heresy, blasphemy, confusion , errors, additions, subtractions or changes.

*A.D. does NOT mean “After Death” as many mistakenly believe. It is Latin for Anno Domini,  a  phrase adopted into English usage that means  “Year of [the/our] Lord”.  The complete  original phrase "anno Domini nostri Jesu Christi" means "in the year of our Lord Jesus Christ”. A.D. and together with B.C. Before Christ   is used to divide all history before and after the birth of Jesus the Christ [Messiah].   ...More

Can   DAILYSPURGEON  be trusted? Is it trustworthy?

Is it of God?

YES, it can!    Yes, it is!     Here’s why.

1 John 4:1-3

Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everyone or !everything] you hear but be testing the spirit [voice] whether it is of God: because many false prophets have gone [come] out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses [avows] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come[who came] out of God, is of God: and every spirit that confesses not [doesn’t audibly avow] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

I therefore must and do audibly confess,  that Jesus Christ is come  [is here]  in the flesh.

[All translations of the Bible that have used a Greek text translation other than the traditional and faithful Textus Receptus have ignored the Greek word “ictin” [this Greek word means “is” in English] and causes the meaning of “is here” to  be changed from “is” come” [is here] to “has” come”.

This error is self-evident because non-believers, false prophets, atheists or heretics can, and frequently do, affirm that Jesus Christ “has come” [in the flesh].

While this is a true statement, when taken at face value, the  meaning of  “has come” is clearly not the same as “is here”; which is the valid, scriptural test of  discernment to know if words are from the Spirit of God or the spirit of antichrist.

The most well documented fact in all of human history is that the Lord Jesus Christ [The Messiah]  “has” come in the flesh. However, the question of much greater importance,  is not whether the spirit [a spoken or written word] being considered and tested confesses that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh but, whether the confession being made affirms that Jesus Christ, “is come” [is here], from God, in the flesh.

Compare and consider [Meditate upon] scripture with scripture:  Precept upon precept, Line upon line…
Isaiah 28:10-14

 Ephesians 5:30-32

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery: but I [The Apostle Paul]  speak concerning Christ and the church.  [The body and Bride of CHRIST]

“I speak concerning Christ and the church.” [the fleshly embodiment, here and now,  of the body of Christ]. Because  followers of Jesus Christ are members of the incarnate Body of Christ [The Church] I affirm and avow that Jesus Christ is here

[Not “Has come”] in the flesh.

Which Bible Is The Best?  (57 min.) David Hocking

GOD’S HOLY WORD is (Immutable, [unchanging and, unable to mutate or to be changed],  Inspired, [God breathed], Infallible,[Incapable of failing]  Inerrant [Without error]

Self-Authenticating  [The Bible is considered self-authenticating because proponents believe it contains inherent divine qualities—like unity, majesty, power, and internal consistency—that reveal its divine origin, convincing readers of its truth without solely relying on external historical proof or church testimony. This concept, championed by Reformers, suggests the Holy Spirit illuminates these features (like the "heavenliness of its matter," "efficacy of its doctrine," and "majesty of its style") within the text itself, allowing believers to perceive God's Word directly, much like seeing God's glory in Christ.] Providentially Protected and Preserved

Psalm 12:6-7:   6 The words of the Lord are pure words:
as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. (AKJV).

Isaiah 40:8: 8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth:but the word of our God shall stand for ever. (AKJV).

Matthew 5:18: 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. (AKJV).

Matthew 24:35: 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. (AKJV).

1 Peter 1:23: 23 being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.  (AKJV).

1 Peter 1:25: 25 but the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.  (AKJV).

Psalm 119:89:  89 For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven, Psalm 119:89).  (AKJV).

The Authorized King James Version (AKJV)  AKA AV is used here.  It was faithfully Translated from the preeminent, traditional Greek Textus Receptus [Received Text] and is superior to all Modern Critical Text translations and editions.

Which Bible Is The Best?  (57 min.) David Hocking

David’s Summary  (8 min.) The problem is not English, but which Greek text was used to render the English translation.

1 John 4:1-3

(AKJV) This Translation was faithfully translated by consecrated,  fully dedicated, preeminent linguists, language scholars who were devoted followers of  The Lord Jesus Christ.   The 1611 King James translation is from the inerrant, inspired and immutable Textus Receptus [the traditional Received Text]:

Psalm 119:89  ל   (Lamed)  Forever,  O  Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.

“Thy Word” is The Inspired and Ultimate Stare Decisis [The Latin phrase that means to stand by things decided, to uphold all things God-Breathed [Inspired] and therefore eternally and immutably decided]

4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth [says] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is of God: 3 and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Therefore, I now confess that “Jesus Christ is here, from God, in the flesh.”

[All other English translations of the Bible that use Greek manuscripts other than the Textus Receptus render the English translation as “Has come”.

This erroneous Translation is because  inferior Greek manuscripts that do not include the Greek word  “ictin”  (This is The Greek word for is that is found only in the Textus Receptus)  and therefore  fail to correctly translate “Is come” [Is Here] into English.

The Authorized King James Version AKJV also known as The Authorized Version AV stand alone in giving the correct translation as “is here”.

The  error, “has come” is self- evident, because non-believers, false prophets and even heretics  can, and sometimes do,  make the confession that He “has come” in the flesh. This is no surprise to us because the birth of Jesus Christ is the most well documented fact in all of recorded history.  Indeed, it is a factual statement that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. While this is, on the surface a true statement, when “has come” replaces “is come” its altered meaning does not now provide the test of  discernment as to  whether a spirit [voiced or written thing being said] is  either from God or from antichrist.  It is  true that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh, but it is essential and of crucial importance, that the confession that Jesus Christ, “is here,  from God, in the flesh.” Be made aloud.

By Reading, comparing and meditating on a certain Scripture with other Scriptures, God’s Word self-authenticates:

Therefore we study:
1 John 4:1-3 with Ephesians 5:30-32

1 John 4:1-3

Authorized (King James) Version

1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Ephesians 5:30-32

30: for we are members of his [Jesus Christs’]  body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and His bride the church.

[We are members of His body, flesh and bones, one flesh with Him, as His bride the church].

He was born of a virgin 2026 years ago, and HE is alive today,

and He is coming soon for His bride; The Church.

"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:

God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,

believed on in the world, received up into glory.  "1 Timothy 3:16

Sacred Music

Daily Audio recordings of Episodes in The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan to provide a blessing from listening to this Sacred Literature classic. You may also choose to read short selections as bed time stories to your little ones each night.

They will love the time spent with you and Christian, The Pilgrim, the main character.

Pilgrim’s Progress is the world’s most famous allegory and is second only to the Holy Bible as the all-time, world-wide best seller. It’s also claimed by some to be the world’s first English novel as it predates  Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Caruso published in 1719
It blesses and has encouraged and instructed pilgrims of all ages for centuries.

Daily Devotions that are found at dailyspurgeon.com  by Charles Haddon Spurgeon will include a selection from each of these publications each day:

  • C.H. Spurgeon Prayers

  • Spurgeon’s  Illustrative Anecdotes

  • Faith’s Checkbook

  • Morning &

  •  Evening

It should be the  desire of every born-again  believer to worship God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength, in Spirit and in truth.

“Study to show yourself approved unto God, a worker that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing [accurately sharing] the word of truth.”    2 Timothy 2:15

To this end, Heavenly Father, we pray that You will bless all who visit this website and bring  many to confess the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.  We ask this in Jesus’ name,  Amen.

The website  does not replace nor can it be a substitute for the in-person, personal assembling of ourselves together. Hebrews 10:23-27

Rather, the Website’s  purpose is to save lost sinners and to teach and encourage believers through God’s Word and prayer to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ [The Messiah] in personal discipleship and worship  of the Lord Jesus as we are being conformed to His very image.  “For whom God did foreknow he did also predestinate to be conformed to the image of his son…” Romans 8:29

We are, instructed by Holy Scripture to assemble,  praise and worship God. Thus we worship the Lord Jesus Christ and exhort and provoke one another to do good works.

Such worship takes place through, congregational singing of sacred hymns and spiritual songs, reading, preaching and obeying God’s Word, sharing Christian love and fellowship, agreeing together  with  specific public prayer requests, and reading and exhorting one another in the Word, to provoke one another to love and serve and bear witness with one another in the Holy Ghost.

Admonition: Online streaming may not satisfy personal interaction, or the fellowship of an        in-person assembly. Electronic media cannot substitute for the physical inter-personal fellowship, commitment, and humility, nor does it provide for a kind and comforting touch or embrace of another believer.  e.g. Laying on of hands, 1 Timothy 4:14;  the right hands of Christian fellowship, Galatians 2:9; or an embrace, Acts 20:1; or greeting with a holy kiss,

1 Thessalonians 5:26.

We give thanks to the Lord, for DailySpurgeon.com  as an instrumentality for building up of fully devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ who are being taught and are taught  to teach  others to be disciples; Fully devoted followers of The Lord Jesus Christ [The Messiah].

We pray that you will also be an inspired instrumentality of God to share the good news of Jesus Christ with every creature, encouraging them to become the very image of Jesus Christ.

This ministry was begun as daily e-mails of Faith’s Checkbook by Charles H. Spurgeon were sent to Jon Edward Riley.  Jon shared these messages with others and soon many wered added to the mailing list as he witnessed and  shared  his testimony with them.

Jon was called home by his loving Father in Heaven on January 16, 2021 leaving a legacy of this Website to minister to all who will  benefit in this labor of Love to the glorify God and His Eternal Kingdom. ALL Glory belongs to God, alone.

Jon is honored; giving honor to whom honor is due.  Romans 13:7

We pray that many will be born again, challenged, encouraged, and built-up to become fully devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ and be conformed to His image; that they might be the firstborn among many brethren.  Romans 8:28-29.

Jon loved to say, “I’m a blood-bought, born-again Child of God!” to anyone he happened to meet or to anyone who would listen.

… Jon’s  testimony lives on from one who, by grace, through faith was forever accepted in the Beloved; who’s loving ways brought the good news of Jesus to many. and one who is now present with the LORD  in glory forever.  One who, one day, we’ll  meet again.
Amen.

Jon  would sometimes just sing-out some of the following songs on the way to church, or sometimes just singing along with the Elvis Gospel CD that was always in our F-150’s CD player while riding with his Dad or,

Best of all, when  an inspired,  spontaneous praise from the Lord would just pop out from his joyful, creative, redeemed and loving heart.

Jon’s Favorite Songs:

I Love You Lord    by the Gaither choir

I Love You Lord  Universal Music Group

I  LOVE  You  Lord   by Jared Reynolds
Where No One Stands Alone   Gaither Vocal Band

Lead Me  & Rock-a My Soul   by Elvis and friends

He Knows Just What I Need  by Elvis

How Great Thou Art    with  Elvis
Lead Me & Rock-a My Soul   Elvis and friends
Lead Me, Guide Me  by Elvis

It Is No Secret   by Elvis written by Stuart Hamblen

The following recordings were discovered several months  after Jon was called home on January 16th 2021.  It’s a blessing, to hear Elvis sing the Gospel message in song but, of course, it can’t  compare with the Glory of being in the actual presence of the LORD.

LIFE    by Elvis

*I Can Only Imagine being present with the LORD,  or hearing the completed song the Lord completed with Jon when he arrived; a song known only to the Lord,  to Jon and the few who heard Jon sing it here. Lyrics remembered  from him singing:   "See my Jesus, Walkin' on duh Waduh"…  an original, inspired song from our beloved  Jon, himself a true and renown original.

* Click and sing  I CAN ONLY IMAGINE   with Wynonna Judd,  won’t you?

LOVE WITHOUT END, AMEN  (A Father’s Love) by George Strait for George H.W. Bush  (41st President)  at the Houston Astrodome, one of the President’s favorite songs.

It’s also my sincere  message of love to all  my children, grand-children and great grand-children etc..

…Jon would always say “Later”; [as in, see-ya later] instead of “good bye”.  It was his only farewell greeting when parting company with a friend; and, everyone was Jon’s friend.

… He would never  say “good-bye”.

Now, as we remember the sound of him saying “Later”, it rings true in a  new and deeper meaning and it brings a joy and comfort to the hearts of those whom he loved so well; those who love him still and will forever more.

… and how much sweeter to us now, are the promises in these two Hymns:

’TILL WE MEET AGAIN. (sing along, won’t you?)

FEATURED SERMONS:

God Appeals to Reason  Isaiah 30:15-21   with Dr. Peter Masters

Before conversion, the claims of God mean nothing to us, but when God's Word speaks to our hearts, [by the Holy Spirit] the challenge becomes inescapable [and Irresistible ]. Self-searching begins, and the kindness of God's forgiving love is grasped as never before. Here is God's reasoning with souls.

Christ Prepares His Church

The call of the disciples, their unique role, and the care and patience of Christ in their training. Then the preparation of the church for extreme and persistent opposition, the reasons why demons were cast out, the unpardonable sin, and the supreme mark of true conversion.

    God Keeps His Promises

2 Corinthians 1.20

The goodness of God is fully demonstrated in the promises He makes in the Bible. That the Creator and Sovereign God should deign to give promises to us is amazing. Here are the major promises, how Christ makes them possible, and how we receive them.

Sanctify Them Through Thy Truth      John 17:17    Dr. Peter Masters, Pastor
Sanctification (purification, consecration and commitment) by the Word is the will of Christ for His own, and here we turn to the first three of the Ten Commandments to challenge our souls. How should these be applied today in our lives and churches?

Closeness to Christ    2 Timothy 2:10-12   Dr.  Peter Masters

In this hostile world, believers cannot live successfully and fruitfully without Christ being with their spirits. Here is why the soul is also called the spirit, and what it means for Christ to be with our spirit. Examples and counsels for securing His nearness.

What Is the Gospel  by the late Dr. R. C. Sproul
Christians are called to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but in our day there is confusion about the content of the Gospel. The biblical Gospel is challenged not only by Roman Catholics and liberals, but by those who claim to be evangelical. In this lecture, Dr. R. C. Sproul will clarify exactly what the Gospel is and what it is not.

The Phenomenon of Love Isaiah 63.7   Dr. Peter Masters
The nature and scope of human love is impressive, but Divine love, made visible in history and, supremely in the atoning sacrifice of Christ, is limitless, freely bestowed and certain toward all who find Him. Here are the 'loving-kindnesses of the Lord' they experience.
Living for the Flesh or for the Spirit  Romans 8.5-6     Dr. Peter Masters
There are two classes of people in the Bible, those who focus on 'the flesh', and those who relate to the Spirit. Here are the characteristics and goals of each, and how God can free us from the captivity of flesh to know communion with Himself.
Mutual Debts in Marriage    1 Corinthians 7:3    Dr. Peter Masters  15 January 2012
A key word has slipped out of some modern translations – the marital debt of benevolence, meaning goodwill and kind benefits. Here are seven debts each has to the other in Christian marriage, a sevenfold bond and blessing to the crowning earthly friendship of life’s journey, are we paying what is ‘due’?

God’s Order for Man and Women   1 Corinthians Ch 11   Dr. Peter Masters
Paul answers the question on the roles of husbands and wives and affirms conformity to the dress code of head coverings in Greek society at that time. With Calvin and major confessions we show that the ‘message’ of clothing may change in other ages and lands.

For the Gospel to be credible, (the Corinthians [and many today] erroneously taught), we need  conspicuous personalities or preachers. Here Paul proclaims the true source of spiritual power, the preaching of the cross of Christ, and why it is foolishness to the perishing and power to the saved.

He Loved and Gave Himself   with Dr. Peter Masters

The enduring amazement of Paul the Apostle shines through these famous words, urging us to explore and ponder the glorious Person of Christ and the way in which He 'gave Himself', or handed Himself over, to the work of redeeming His people.

… Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.   Ecclesiastes 12:13.  He  commands us to worship Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength in Spirit and in truth.

To this end, Heavenly Father, we pray You will bless all visitors to  DailySpurgeon.com  .  Bring many to faith in Christ Jesus and inspire sincere and fervent devotion, consecration and active discipleship in all believers.  We trust Lord  that You will make us faithful as we are conformed to the image of Jesus Christ;  by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:28-30  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

To You, Father be all the glory for Jesus sake.

Help us to not forsake the gathering ourselves together as some have but help us attend to the gathering to worship, to hear Your Word preached, and to sing Psalms, sacred hymns and spiritual songs in Jesus Christ’s name, Amen

This Website will not nor is intended, were it possible, to take the place of Christian fellowship, gospel preaching or congregational gathering for praise and worship. Rather, its purpose is to encourage personal prayer, Bible study, meditation and singing praises and obedience to God’s Word.

“Study to show yourself  approved unto God, a worker that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing [accurately comprehending] the word of truth.”   2 Timothy 2:15

Our aim is to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. He avers,  “I am the way, the truth and the life, no man [person] comes unto the Father but by me”  John 14:6

Jesus was lifted up from the earth, hung on the cross, giving up his life to save sinners, John 12:32  Therefore,  we pray that many should not perish, but come to faith in Jesus Christ and be eternally saved.  This invitation is therefore for all non-believers that they would turn away from sin, and look to the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved.  We pray also that all believers will be built up and conformed to the image of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Romans 8:28-30

PRAYER  1  Part 6 of 7 January 6th   HELP FROM ON HIGH.

[Dear Lord]   We lift our voice to Thee [You] in prayer; also, for all our dear ones.  Lord, bless the sick and make them well as soon as it is right [that] they should be. Sanctify [make Holy]  to them all they have to bear. There are also dear friends who are very weak; some that are very trembling. God bless them. While the tent [physical body (metaphor)] is being taken down [as physical  death comes near] may the inhabitant within [spirit and soul of the inner man]  look on with calm joy, for we shall by-and-by “be clothed upon with our house that is from heaven” [a glorified body that will never die]  Lord, help us to sit very loose [know that all physical possessions are temporary]   by all these things here below. May we live here like strangers and make the world not a house [home]  but an inn [temporary shelter] in which we sup [eat dinner] and lodge, expecting to be on our journey [on our way] tomorrow. [ In Jesus name, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 157: January 6th   DYING GRACE.

I remember my aged grandfather [C.H. Spurgeon’s] once preached a sermon which I have not forgotten. He was preaching from the text “The God of all grace,” and he somewhat interested the assembly, after describing the different kinds of grace that God gave, by saying at the end of each period, “But there is one kind of grace that you do not want.”  After each sentence there came the like, “But there is one kind of grace you do not want”

And, then, he wound up [concluded]  by saying, “You don’t want dying grace in living moments, but you shall have dying grace when you want it.”   Now, you are testing yourself by a condition in which you are not placed.

If you are placed in the condition, you shall have grace enough if you put your trust in Christ. In a party of friends, we were discussing the question, whether if the days of martyrdom should come, we were prepared to be burned [at the stake].   Well, now,  I must frankly say, that speaking as I feel to-day, I am not prepared to be burned.  But I do believe if there were a stake [for being burned alive] in Smithfield, and I knew that I were to be burned there at one o clock, that I should have grace enough to be burned at one o clock; but I have not yet got to a quarter past twelve, [12:15] and the time has not come yet. Do not expect dying grace, until you want it, and when the time comes, you may be sure you will have sufficient grace to bear it. Cast out that stumbling-block, then. Rest thyself on Christ, and trust him to help thee [you] in thy [your] dying hour [when you shall die].

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK     January 6th HELP FROM WITHOUT by C.H. Spurgeon 1834-1892
-Yea, I will help thee-  Isaiah 41:10
..Siempre te ayudaré,-  Isaias 41:10

Yesterday’s  promise secured us strength for what we have to do, but this guarantees us aid in cases where we cannot act alone. The Lord says, -I will help thee.-  Strength within is supplemented [added to] by help without.

God can raise us up allies [brothers-in-arms] in our warfare if so it seems good in His sight; and even if He does not send us human assistance, He himself will be at our side, and this is better still.

-Our August [Powerful] Ally [God almighty] - is better than legions of mortal helpers. His help is timely [always at the right time]: He is a very present help in time of trouble.  His help is very wise: He knows how to give each man help,  meet [suitable] and fit for him. His help is most effectual, though vain [ineffective] is the help of man. His help is more than help, for He bears all the burden, and supplies all the need. -The Lord is my helper, I will not fear what man can do unto me.-

Because He has already been our help, we feel confidence in Him for the present and the future.

Our prayer is, -Lord, be thou my helper-;

our experience is,  The Spirit also helpeth our infirmities;

our expectation is, - I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, whence cometh [from where comes] my help- ; and our song soon will be, -Thou, [You]  Lord, hast holpen [have helped] me.-

Prayer:Thank you Lord  that You help me [and all believers].  My own weakness makes me shrink, but Your help makes me brave.  Grant that I may walk in this assurance in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

… and pray for souls to be saved and believers to be strengthened

The Lord … is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9

Pray also that believers will be taught by the Holy Spirit and rightly divide God’s authentic Word preserved by God, Himself.

John 3:16
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten [supernaturally fathered] Son, that whosoever believeth  in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Publishers are driven by profit in selling the unending “new and better” English translations of The Bible, [World’s best seller of all time] with too little attention for maintaining the fidelity and accuracy already settled in the majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the Textus Receptus Greek.

God, Himself, providentially preserves His God-breathed, self-authenticating, immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful Word.   God is not the author of confusion. 1 Corinthians 14:33

MORNING,   January  6th

"Casting [tossing] all your care upon Him; for HE CARETH [cares]  FOR  YOU." -  1 Peter 5:7

—Echando toda vuestra solicitud en él, porque él tiene cuidado de vosotros.— 1 Pedro 5:7

IT is a happy way of soothing sorrow when we can feel the Lord's care for us. Christian! Do not dishonor your religion [faith] by always wearing a face of fretful care; come, cast your burden [toss your worry] upon your Lord. You are staggering beneath a weight that your Father would not feel. What seems to you a crushing burden [weight] would be to Him but as the small dust of the balance [scales].

Nothing is so sweet as to Lie passive in God's hands, And know no will but His.

O child of suffering,  be patient; God has not passed over you in His providence [divine plan of God’s provision].

The feeder of sparrows will also furnish you with what you need. Do not sit down in despair; hope on,  hope ever [always hope in Jesus]. Take up the arms of faith against a sea of trouble, and your opposition [against the enemy] will end your distresses.

There is One who cares for you. His eye is fixed on you, His heart beats with pity for your woe, and His omnipotent [infinitely powerful]  hand will bring you the help you need. The darkest cloud will scatter itself in showers of mercy. The  blackest gloom will give place to the morning. He, if [because] you are one of His family, will bind up your wounds, and heal your broken heart. Do not doubt His grace because of your  tribulation [trouble], but believe He loves you as much in seasons of trouble as in times of happiness.

What a serene [peaceful] and quiet life you might lead if you would leave providing to the God of providence! With a little oil in the cruse [bottle], and a handful of meal [flour for making bread] in the barrel, Elijah outlived the famine, and you will do the same. If God cares for you, why need you care too? [Why should we worry?] Can you trust Him for your soul, and not for your body?

He has never refused to bear your burdens [carry your load of cares], He has never fainted under their weight.

Come, then, [Come-on now.] be done with fretful care, and leave all your concerns in the hand of a gracious [and all-powerful] God.

 EVENING,       January  6th

"Now THE HAND OF THE LORD WAS UPON ME IN THE EVENING." —Ezekiel 33:22
- Y la mano de Jehová había sida sobre mí la tarde—  Ezequiel 33:22

IN the way of [concerning] judgment this may be the case, and, if so, it is wise to consider the reason of such a visitation [visit], and hear the rod [whipping stick] and Him who has appointed it. I am not the only one who is chastened [disciplined] in the night season, let me cheerfully submit to the affliction, and carefully endeavor [sincerely try] to profit from it.

But the hand of the Lord may also be felt in another manner: strengthening the soul and lifting the spirit upward towards eternal things. 0 that I may feel the Lord dealing with me in this way! A sense of the divine presence and indwelling carries the soul towards heaven as if on the wings of eagles.

At such times we are filled to the brim with spiritual joy and forget the cares and sorrows of earth, the invisible [spiritual relm] is near, and the visible loses its power over us, the body waits at the foot of the hill, and the spirit worships at the summit in the presence of the Lord.

0 that a hallowed season of divine communion [fellowship] may be given to me this evening! The Lord knows that I need it very greatly. My Christian graces grow feeble, my evil nature rages, my faith is weak, my devotion is cold: all these are reasons why His healing hand should be laid upon me. His hand can cool the heat of my burning brow, and quiet the tumult of my palpitating [fast beating] heart.

That glorious right hand which molded the world can create my mind anew; the unwearied [ever ready] hand which bears up the earth's huge pillars [mountains] can sustain my spirit; the loving hand which encloses [holds] all the saints can cherish [adore] me; and the mighty hand which breaks the enemy in pieces can subdue [conquer] my sins. Why should I not feel that hand touching me this evening?

Come, my soul, address your God with the potent plea, that Jesus' hands were pierced for your redemption [salvation], and…

you shall surely feel the same hand upon you that once touched Daniel and set him on his knees so that he might see visions of God.

MAN’S WHOLE DUTY  January  6th

… Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.   Ecclesiastes 12:13

Our solemn  aim is to trust and obey the Lord Jesus in everything. We must rely upon God completely to achieve His purposes in us and through us.

Loving and worshiping God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength in Spirit and in truth is a labor of love and duty of every believer. Desire will grow stronger as we give ourselves to prayer, reading and meditating on God’s Word, gathering ourselves together to hear Gospel preaching,  the singing of Psalms, sacred hymns and spiritual songs.

We purpose, with God’s help,  to reach the lost, comfort, strengthen and encourage believers, and  rightly divide God’s Word to proclaim the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ to every creature.

The Holy Bible is God’s eternal, inerrant, infallible, immutable revealed and divinely preserved Word.  It is His completed scripture  of all revealed truth.  He brings guidance and the knowledge of His will to us personally and to each local body of Christian believers through His Word. With God’s help and empowerment, we will read, study, meditate-on, trust-in  and obey God’s Holy Bible and encourage others to do the same. We hold it to be the supreme authority and the preeminent and divinely established precedent [Stare Decisis   Latin: to stand by that which is decided, the legal doctrine of precedence, literally "to stand by decided matters"] in all things.

Therefore, the purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to publish the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature. And, to serve all, in love, especially those in the household of faith. We are compelled by this purpose to follow, and rightly apply and proclaim, God’s Holy Word, the Bible, as God’s divinely preserved truth; being the essential authority and goal of this ministry.

The Metropolitan Tabernacle:
The  inspired preaching, teaching, soul winning and writings of Charles Haddon Spurgeon were solely based, empowered and inspired by God’s Holy Word the Bible.  His written sermons and devotional messages continue to benefit today’s readers through authentic  Gospel preaching. His ministry continues to thrive and flourish from the original (Spurgeon)  Metropolitan Tabernacle a church begun in 1650.  The present  building was constructed in 1861 and rebuilt after the destruction during the second world war.

Mission Aim:     Spurgeon's sermons and devotional messages have edified the church body and have been a great benefit, to all readers for many years.  We pray they will be useful to strengthen personal discipleship in every believer and to spread the Gospel [Good news] of Jesus Christ, the Messiah to every person.

The Essence of the Gospel:

  • God is Holy and good  and not willing that any should perish.

  • Man is sinful and bad  and hopelessly lost without God.

  • Even so, God  made provision for sinful men to be reconciled to Himself. God loved the world so much He gave Jesus Christ, His only begotten son,  that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  God didn’t send Him into the world  to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved.

A SINNER’S  PRAYER  January 6th

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

Pray and call on the name of the Lord Jesus. Won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and it’s hopeless for me to save myself. Without you and your death on the cross I would spend eternity in Hell.

I know that me doing my best or being good (in my own opinion)  and justifying my own behavior as "good"  or "OK"  can never be enough to save me.
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me.
I come to You   right now.  Lord Jesus. Will You  please save me.  I believe You died on the cross in my place to pay for my sin debt and put to death my sin nature. I know  You always keep your word.  Please save me. You have said and  it’s written in the Bible that you won’t reject anyone who comes to you. Thank You.

I  give myself completely to You, Lord Jesus. I’m sorry for every sin I’ve done and I now turn away from each one and look to You to forgive me, save me and deliver me from future evil.  Thank you for forgiving  all of  my sins by dying on the cross paying the punishment that I deserve.  I’m a sinner by nature and by my actions. But now I'm washed clean by Your blood that was shed for me at the cross.

Thank you Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was bor n and that You love me now and will always love me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father other than by You.

Thank you, Father that You have made a way for me to see myself as ungodly.  But,  because You are good You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in the Lord Jesus.  You have forgiven me because He took my place and You have provided for  me to be born again [born from above, born of the Holy Spirit].
You prompted this desire and faith to believe in Your only begotten Son who, gave up  His life and died on the cross to pay my sin debt, not mine alone, but the sins of the whole world.

Thank You, righteous Father of love that you allowed Jesus to suffer and die raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus there is no condemnation. After You raised Him from the dead You gave Him a Glorified, [everlasting] physical body and  after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with  You  in heaven.

Thank you for saving me.  I pray this in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ with a grateful heart.   Thank You for saving me heavenly Father and for the Comforter, The Spirit of Truth, for my guidance and solemn instruction into all truth.,  Amen.”

Thank You Holy Spirit of Truth, Comforter, Paraclete [one who comes along side]  for the new life in Jesus and victory that comes when I recon myself dead indeed unto sin and alive unto God through Christ Jesus our Lord trusting You, Holy Spirit for the execution of this vow.

 Romans 6:11

Thank you, Holy Spirit, that you always bear witness of and exalt the Lord Jesus.  John 16:8-11

With all my heart, thank you Lord for saving me.
Abide in me Lord Jesus in Your name I pray, Amen.

It was  loved and  read, second only to the Holy Bible, God’s Word, of guidance, encouragement and comfort. It’s also considered, by some, to be the world’s first English novel and is the most published book of all time. other than the Bible. There were 1,300 editions printed before 1938, 250 years after the author's death. It remains among the world’s most famous literature.

Bunyan merely, yet ardently believed God’s Word;  That it is God-breathed [inspired by God], Self-authenticating, Providentially-protected and propagated  immutable [unchanged and unchangeable] , inerrant [without error] , infallible [incapable of being mistaken or of being wrong], indestructible  and eternal written Word from GOD Himself for ever settled in Heaven.

God has preserved His Word through  The Masoretic Hebrew and Aramaic languages of the Old Testament and the GreekTextus Receptus of the New Testament:

In contrast, the Incomplete and unsealed codices of Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are not translated from the  5,321 Majority Text Greek manuscripts, that became the Textus Receptus [Original Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus].

The Sinaiticus and Vaticanus manuscripts  present variant readings rather than that of the well-established and settled majority Texts. They disagree often with one another as well as with the settled majority texts. Thus, an attempt to create a pretext that will continue to justify a never-ending demand for additional editions and interpretations. These unsettled differences and bias in certain sectarian doctrine [dogma] have led to the production of multiple “modern” editions with ambiguities, many variant readings and confusion from the explosion of unending, new editions.

Profit-driven publishers have embraced such an economic windfall to sell a continual flow of “new and better” English edition of The Bible. They give too little attention to the fidelity and accuracy already settled [in heaven] in majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the  Greek Textus Receptus.

Psalm 119:89-90

ל Lamed

89 Forever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

God, Himself, providentially protects and preserves His Word. His Word is the God-breathed, self-authenticating, immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful Word, settled in heaven. He is not the author of confusion.

1 Corinthians 14:33

Our Prayer: Dear Lord, empower your ministry to win many souls, and serve those in need, especially those in the household of faith, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company honors the memory of Charles H. Spurgeon his writing and preaching. Honor to whom honor is due. He didn’t want praise then and doesn’t  need it now. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach Christ Jesus only and him crucified.

Precaution: The content presented from this website can be beneficial, but it  cannot substitute for gathering together, in-person, with other believers to hear the preaching of God’s Word and to worship and sing praises to the Lord Jesus Christ [the Messiah].

The Authorized King James Version (AKJV), also known as the Authorized Version (AV), is the authentic. inerrant, and infallible  English Bible because it is rendered [translated into English] accurately and faithfully from the extant 5,321 majority Greek manuscripts text from which the Greek Textus Receptus, [received text] manuscripts of the New Testament is taken.

The Hebrew Masoretic Text copied faithfully by Masoretic scribes was the original Old Testament. (The Jewish Tanakh) is the Hebrew source from which translations into other languages were made. These manuscripts are providentially protected of God and always give the greatest glory to God when compared to other translations.  Editorial notations, variant and sometimes ambiguous readings taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus consistently allow  nuanced meanings to diminish God’s Omnipotence, Omniscience, Omnipresence or other divine attributes from being fully voiced.

The Authorized King James version is unique also in that the requirement of Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed only by the Cambridge University Press, The Crown’s Authorized Printer. No other [person or publisher] may print, copy or import the King James Bible into Great Brittan by order of the Crown.

Printed Spurgeon Prayers: Printed prayers must not be read or offered as a substitute for personal, fervent, effectual, heart-felt, prayer. They are offered, rather, to warm the hearts of those who will presently seek a season of fervent, authentic two-way, heart-to-heart fellowship and prayer with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Authentic revelations from God during prayer are always consistent with His revealed Word, the Bible.

Preaching Preparation: When preparing to preach, please “GOOGLE” to find the Spurgeon Sermon that addresses the same text.

Distribution: The Publishing Company sends Daily Spurgeon by e-mail, to all request received. No fee or registration is required. Please send the e-mail address of all who you would like to add to our mailing list. Also, please FORWARD these e-mails freely to anyone you choose.

He didn’t need or want it when he was here on earth and has no need for it now, in Heaven. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM and Him crucified.

Written Prayers by Spurgeon must not be offered as a substitute for personal, intimate fervent, heart-felt, prayer. The Necessity of Evangelistic Preaching

We post this week this message from our recent Day of Special Studies, due to its immense importance in our churches today. Here are the biblical arguments for the revival of a once-universal practice. (This is Part I of two addresses.)

Gospel Sermon  Sunday 21 July 2024 | 6:30pm

Why Should We Believe?

Mark 4.23

God appeals to our intelligent minds - but will we listen? Our inclination is to turn away, but if God in His mercy places in us a thirst for certain things, we listen and come to Him. Here are the needs that draw us to God.

How Mosaic Worship Foretold Christ

Hebrews 9.1

'Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary. And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all.'

The Believer’s Vow

Prayer for all Website visitors:

Dear Father, please lift up, build up, encourage and draw to Yourself all who may visit the Daily Spurgeon website.  Bless the preaching of the Gospel presented hereand be glorified in your all sufficient, atoning grace to redeem all who call on the name of the Lord Jesus, the  Christ [Messiah], in Your name, Lord Jesus, Amen.

 The  Authorized King James Bible

The above link is to search for specific words or Scriptures in the King James inerrant and infallible  English Version  (KJV)  because it is providentially protected and preserved by GOD Himself through the only translation into English by faithful brethren from the 5,312 established majority text manuscripts MT from which the New Testament  Greek Textus Receptus [received text] was taken  and the Hebrew Masoretic Text of the Old Testament (Jewish Tanakh).  These manuscripts are providentially protected, and give greater glory to God when compared to the variant readings of all post KJV  translations. Modern Critical Texts are based on only 55 hand picked Greek manuscripts fabricated from either Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland. Both of these Greek textual sources make the assumption that OLDER IS BETTER. Of course, this assumption is not valid in any place   the older manuscripts err from the Textus Receptus..

The established majority manuscripts and the Textus Receptus avoid doctrinal error, and inaccuracies in translation, uninspired editorial notations, variant or ambiguous readings which taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus.

Copyright: The King James Version is also distinguished by the requirement of Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed by the Cambridge University Press, the Crown’s authorized printer. No one other than the Crown’s printer, is allowed print, copy or import the King James Bible into Great Brittan by order of the Crown.

In the United States there is no Copyright protection to restrict the free printing of the KJV. It is the only Bible version that may be printed freely as Public Domain. Any  new publication that changes 10% or more of any existing  publication may procure a lucrative Copyright protection to restrict unauthorized printing of the new publication. Therefore,  the NKJV, NIV and many other modern  translations. Only the King James Version New Testament is unique from among the over 100 English translations that follow modern textual criticism and only the King James is faithfully translated from the well-established  Greek Textus Receptus as the  Primary time tested and self-authenticating Greek Source.

DEFENDING  THE  KING JAMES BIBLE    by the Millennium Bible Institute

This video presents the truth  for those who seek to learn about and use the providentially protected, preserved and immutable Holy Bible that is both inerrant [without error] and infallible and gives God alone, the utmost praise, and the greatest glory due to HIMSELF. Praise and worship are rightfully insisted upon and commanded in God’s  inspired [God-Breathed (Spoken) Word from God himself.
INSPIRED [God Breathed] HOLY WORDS  were given and are protected by by God through the Holy Ghost, word by word, to His  Holy Prophets and Apostles comprise all eternal Holy Scripture. (Matthew 5:18)

HOW HAS  THE MAJORITY TEXT AND  THE TEXTUS RECEPTUS BEEN PROVIDENTIALLY PROTECTED AND PRESERVED?

The inspired, god breathed, immortal words, were  uttered, word-by-word, to the  holy prophets and apostles who were chosen of God and moved by the holy ghost. These words are protected and preserved in holy scripture and are written word-by-word and are immutable, [unchangeable] without error, and infallible [incapable of making a mistake or being wrong]. and for ever [sic] settled in heaven by God himself in the self authenticating word of god, itself.

The complete Inside  Story of Westcott and Hort:

Brooke Foss Westcott and Fenton John Anthony Hort  (Text only)

URL:   https://www.febc.edu.sg/article/def_the_inside_story_of_westcott_and_hort

In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:

* Letters from close relatives are quoted in the Inside Story above

The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,

thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort or Nestle & Aland.is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on  defective text. Those who honor the Word of God must not promote any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is entirely  evil in itself, but because being contented to use a weakened version rather than the existing, preserved, inerrant unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has preserved for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it must  be to Him if His people now chose versions that are  based on  the defective and inferior  Greek manuscript  invented  by Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Aland.

We lift our voice to Thee in prayer; also, for all our dear ones. Lord, bless the sick and make them well as soon as it is right they should be. Sanctify to them all they have to bear. There are also dear friends who are very weak; some that are very trembling. God bless them.

While the tent [a metaphor for our physical body] is being taken down [as physical death comes near] may the inhabitant within [spirit and soul] look on with calm joy, for we shall by-and-by “be clothed upon with our house that is from heaven” [a glorified eternal body]

Lord, help us to sit very loose [know that all physical possessions are temporary] by all these things here below. May we live here like strangers and make the world not a house [permanent home] but an inn [temporary shelter] in which we sup [eat] and lodge, expecting to be on our journey tomorrow. [ In Jesus name, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 157: Dying Grace.

I remember my aged grandfather [of C.H. Spurgeon] once preached a sermon which I have not forgotten. He was preaching from the text “The God of all grace,”

and he somewhat interested the assembly, after describing the different kinds of grace that God gave, by saying at the end of each period,

“But there is one kind of grace that you do not want.”

After each sentence there came the like, “But there is one kind of grace you do not want”

And, then, he wound up [concluded] by saying,

“You don’t want dying grace in living moments, but you shall have dying grace when you want it.”

Now, you are testing yourself by a condition in which you are not placed.

Rest thyself on Christ, and trust him to help thee in thy dying hour [when you shall actually die]. ________________________________________

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK January 6 HELP FROM WITHOUT   C.H. Spurgeon 1834-1892

-Yea, I will help thee- Isaiah 41:10

..Siempre te ayudaré,- Isaias 41:10

Yesterday’s promise secured us strength for what we have to do, but this guarantees us aid in cases where we cannot act alone.

The Lord says,

 -I will help thee.-

Strength within is supplemented [sustained] by help without.

His help is most effectual, though vain [futile] is the help of man. His [God’s] help is more than help, for He bears all the burden, and supplies all the need.

-The Lord is my helper, I will not fear what man can do unto me.-

Because He has already been our help, we feel confidence in Him for the present and the future.

Our prayer is,

-Lord, be thou my helper-;

our experience is, The Spirit also helpeth our infirmities;

our expectation is, - I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, whence cometh [from where comes] my help- ; and

our song soon will be, -Thou, Lord, hast holpen [helped] me.-

Prayer: Thank you, Lord,  that You help me [and all believers]. My own weakness makes me shrink, but Your help makes me brave.

Grant that I may walk in this assurance in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

The Lord … is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9

Pray also that believers will be taught by the Holy Spirit to rightly divide God’s eternal Word preserved and protected by God, Himself.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten [supernaturally fathered] Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:16

The Textus Receptus TR [Received Text] is the faithfully rendered Greek text with an overwhelming agreement in and among the majority of the 5,321 extant New Testament, Greek manuscripts  known as the  MT. [Majority Text]. The Old Testament Hebrew and Aramaic manuscripts were meticulously copied by hand [manuscript] by the Masoretic scribes. These are the manuscripts  from which  the Original King James version  was translated onto English.

In order for Westcott & Hort and Nestle & Aland to create the Modern Greek to create  the many variant reaings brought through highly nuanced readings from the Critical Text theory.  Only Fifty-five 55 manuscripts from the 5,321 Majority Text MT were hand-picked and they were not from the foundational text from which the Textus Receptus was rendered but were selected from  the inferior Sinaiticus and Vaticanus codices. These fifty-five manuscripts  brought  variant readings and were created, ostensibly, to justify the creation of an alternative Greek text to the Textus Receptus which had been under relentless attack by Westcott & Hort and Nestle & Aland for many years.

The Codices known as Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are inferior because they often are in disagreement with the Textus Receptus and incredibly, with one another. They give rise to variant readings and embrace secular doctrine bias not supported by scripture translated from the Majority Text or Textus Receptus.  They have been infused by  invented Greek text where an absence of Greek text from the Fifty-five hand-picked manuscripts was found.

They invented but did not disclose themselves as the source  of the new Greek translation.  They supplied this new Greek translation to all Committee members with the aim to revise the King James Bible. However, They insisted on a code of silence as to the authorship of the Greek Text from which all the Revisions were to be based. All members of the committee were required to agree to this code.

Modern textual criticism is based on the assumption that older manuscripts are, de-facto, more accurate. Actually, the continuous and unsettled changes from their  variant readings reflect error, doctrinal ambiguities and biases not supported by the Majority Text.

Scripture based on The Greek text of Westcott &  Hort and Nestle & Aland of a secular or denominational tradition allow modern textual criticism  to  rob God of His Sovereignty, Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Immutability, Inerrancy and  Infallibility and to diminish Glory from His infinite and everlasting “I AM” that deserves and demands ALL GLORY!

For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in Heaven. Psalm 119:89

God is not the author of confusion. 1 Corinthians 4:33

God, Himself, providentially protects and preserves all of His inspired WORD.  HIS God-breathed, self-authenticating, immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, everlasting inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful [omnipotent] Word.

For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in Heaven. Psalm 119:89

God is not the author of confusion. 1 Corinthians 4:33

MORNING, January 6

"Casting [throwing] all your care upon Him; for He careth [cares] for you." - 1 Peter 5:7

—Echando toda vuestra solicitud en él, porque él tiene cuidado de vosotros.— 1 Pedro 5:7

IT is a happy way of soothing sorrow when we can feel the Lord's care for us. Christian! Do not dishonor your religion [faith] by always wearing a face of fretful care; come,

cast your burden [toss your worry] upon your Lord.

You are staggering beneath a weight that your Father would not feel. What seems to you a crushing burden [weight] would be to Him but as the small dust of the balance [on the scales].

Nothing is so sweet as to Lie passive in God's hands, And [to] know no will but His.

O child of suffering, be patient; God has not passed over you in His providence [divine plan of provision for you].

The feeder of sparrows will also furnish you with what you need. Do not sit down in despair;

hope on, hope ever [always hope in Jesus]. Take up the arms of faith against a sea of trouble, and your opposition [against your enemy] will end your distresses.

Do not doubt His grace because of your tribulation [trouble], but believe

He loves you as much in seasons of trouble as in times of happiness.

What a serene [peaceful] and quiet life you might lead if you would leave providing to the God of providence! With a little oil in the cruse [bottle], and a handful of meal [flour for making bread] in the barrel, Elijah outlived the famine, and you will do the same.

If [Because] God cares for you, why need you care too? [Why should you worry?]

Can you trust Him for your soul, and not for your body?

He has never refused to bear [carry] your burdens. He has never fainted under their weight.

Come, then, [Come-on then.] be done with fretful care, and leave all your concerns in the hand of a gracious [and all-powerful] God.

EVENING, January 6

"Now the hand of the Lord was upon me in the evening." —Ezekiel 33:22

- Y la mano de Jehová había sida sobre mí la tarde— Ezequiel 33:22

IN the way of judgment this may be the case, and, if so, it is wise to consider the reason of such a visitation [visit], and hear the rod [whip] and Him who has appointed it. I am not the only one who is chastened [disciplined] in the night season, let me cheerfully submit to the affliction, and carefully endeavor to profit from it.

But the hand of the Lord may also be felt in another manner: strengthening the soul and lifting the spirit upward towards eternal things. 0 that I may feel the Lord dealing with me in this way! A sense of the divine presence and indwelling carries the soul towards heaven as if on the wings of eagles.

At such times we are filled to the brim with spiritual joy and forget the cares and sorrows of earth, the invisible [spiritual realm] is near, and the visible loses its power over us, the body waits at the foot of the hill, and the spirit worships at the summit in the presence of the Lord.

That glorious right hand which molded the world can create my mind anew; the unwearied [never tired] hand which bears up the earth's huge pillars [holds the mountains up] can sustain my spirit; the loving hand which encloses [carefully holds] all the saints can cherish [adore] me; and the mighty hand which breaks the enemy in pieces can subdue [conquer] my sins. Why should I not feel that hand touching me this evening?

Come, my soul, address your God with the potent plea, that Jesus' hands were pierced for your redemption [salvation], and…

you shall surely feel the same hand upon you that once touched Daniel and set him on his knees so that he might see visions of God.

A SINNER’S PRAYER: … FOR WHOSOEVER:

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved … pray like this, won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am lost. I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross to pay my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity in Hell. My nature and behavior has been sinful from birth. Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m sorry for each and every sin I have ever done and look to You to forgive them all.

I look to You, alone Lord Jesus to save me.

I call on You, Lord Jesus, right now to save me. You died on the cross for me, as God’s sacrifice for my sin.

Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me, I trust You to be my Savior and Lord.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins. I want to follow You from now on.

You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross.

Thank you, Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was born and that You love me still

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is alive and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave.

Thank You for saving me heavenly Father and Holy Spirit for Your comfort and guidance in all things.

With all my heart, thank you Lord Jesus for saving me. In your name, I pray, Amen.

SPECIAL SPURGEON SERMON: “Why Men Cannot Believe in Christ”

[Christ Jesus]

Note: This Sermon was referenced in the Men’s Bible Study on Wednesday, August 14th 2024 at South Shores Church and is featured here as an unabridged Audio recording of Sermon # 1245 that was preached originally by Charles Spurgeon in 1875 from his home church, The Metropolitan Tabernacle, London, U.K.

Can You trust this website?

Is it of God?

Is it trustworthy?

1 John  Chapter 4

Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everything you hear] but [continually] be testing the spirit whether it is of God: because many false prophets have come out in the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesseth [confesses, says] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come out of God, is of God: and every spirit [voice] that confesseth not [doesn't confess] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Hence, I confess [declare and affirm] "Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh."

___________________________________________________________________

He has always existed from eternity past [FOREVER] as the WORD of God.    John 1:1-2

And He was born of a virgin 2,024 years ago in Bethlehem, the WORD made flesh,

is alive today, and is coming soon for His *bride, the Church

[*All redeemed believers].

"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:

God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,

believed on in the world, received up into glory."

1 Timothy 3:16

Let me invite you to trust in  the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord and to publicly confess [declare] Him as such before men [publicly]. He will therefore be able to acknowledge and confess you before His Father in Heaven. He is The God of Abraham. Isaac and Jacob. Following your public confession, You also invited to follow Him in believer’s baptism by immersion.

Jesus came from Galilee t o Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist. But, John forbad [refused] Him and said, “I have need to be baptized of You and [yet] you are coming to me?” [for baptism] And Jesus answering him said, “Suffer it to be so [Allow this]: for thus it becometh [is fitting and right for] us to fulfil all righteousness.”

 Matthew 3:15

Baptism is not required for salvation. Remember, what Jesus said to the thief on the cross, who acknowledged Jesus’ innocence and said to him:

“Remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

And then, Jesus said to him:

“Verily [Truly] I say to you, Today you shall be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43

Baptism pictures the Lord’s death, burial  and resurrection and the believer’s new birth.

It bears witness with John the Baptist who preached that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand and exhorted Repentance from sin and the Baptism of atonement. Therefore, the act of baptism is not required for salvation but it is an act of obedience to fulfil all righteousness.

Matthew 3:15

Romans 6:3-5:

3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.

Thank You LORD for dailyspurgeon.com  a website that  proclaims Jesus, the Christ [Messiah and Anointed King] to all the world .

This website ministry grew from a beginning of sending e-mails of promises from  Charles Spurgeon’s  Faith’s Checkbook a book of daily promises from Scripture  to John Michael’s son, Jon Edward Riley (1971- 2021). When Jon shared them with others, they asked to be added to this mailing list. This mailing list grew to over 400 and  continues to be used in the  distribution of  the website contents.  Our prayer is that it will continue to encourage followers of Jesus Christ in a more vigorous  personal devotion to  Love, obedience and oneness with Jesus Christ through the study of and obedience to GOD’S WORD empowered by the Holy Ghost.

We pray that many will be born-again and built-up in the Faith of Jesus Christ. May God sustain, guide and protect this ministry begun with John Michael’s  beloved son, Jon Edward Riley (1971-2021)  honored here as one to whom honor is due.

Jon Edward loved to say,

“I’m a blood-bought, born-again child of God.”

Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not praise or exalt  Charles H. Spurgeon beyond the honor due him.
