The inspired preaching, teaching and writings of Charles Haddon Spurgeon are bedrock solid and saturated with God’s revealed Word, the Bible.  His  written publications continue to benefit readers with inspired Gospel preaching and sound biblical teaching from one whose life was poured out like a drink offering to The Lord Jesus Christ,  to whom Charlie was a fully devoted follower. His love of Jesus Christ manifested itself in his unequalled love for and his never-ceasing soul winning efforts toward unsaved multitudes.  From one who became known as The Prince of Preachers he remained humble always pointing to Christ, and Him crucified.

This  ministry continues to flourishes in London’s   Metropolitan Tabernacle(Brief History)   a church begun in 1650 with The building constructed by members of the congregation in 1861. It continues to thrive today.

His sermons are saturated with The Word of God, which is always present in his  preaching. His sermons continue to bless and benefit thousands in the sermons contained in the  63 volumes  of the  Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit  (CLICK THIS LINK and SEARCH TO FIND TEXT YOU’RE PREPARING TO PREACH)  The complete publication of his 63 volumes of  printed sermons from The God-breathed, inerrant and infallible WORD of GOD. Versions and editions of all Bibles  that are NOT  translated from the Textus Receptus [The Traditional  Text] bring variant  readings that diminish the glory or a diminution to the most Holy reverence due to Almighty GOD.  He has preserved and continues to preserve and protect HIS WORD the  immutable [incapability of mutation or changes] of the 1769 Edition of the 1611 King James Version  Bible [KJV]. This version is also known as the Authorized Version  [AV].  ALL GLORY is due and must be given to the Omnipotent [Almighty] and Omniscient [All-knowing] LORD of ALL.

The Geneva Bible was also translated from the Greek Textus Receptus including  comments favorable to the Protestant Reformation  from inspired, devoted,  faithful Christian men of GOD;        Puritan Believers known to be  beyond reproach.

This Bible was first brought to Plymouth Massachusetts  in the American Colonies by the Puritan Pilgrims guided by Captain Christopher Jones’s on the Mayflower sailing ship in 1620. A 1592 Edition of the Geneva Bible that belonging to a Mayflower passenger and the Governor of the Plymouth Colony (Later to become the State of   Massachusetts) by William Bradford and is on display at the Pilgrim Hall Museum in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the oldest continuously operating public museum in the United States.

The traditional Textus Receptus [Received (Greek) Text] unlike any other Greek Text was taken  from more than 5,321 original Majority (Greek Manuscript) Text [MT] that agree 99% with one another. Other variant readings stem from Greek translations invented by  either Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland. These fabricated Greek Texts were translated from only a handful [45] of Majority Text Manuscripts MT and  lack the  trustworthiness of  the inspired 1769 [1611] King James Version, KJV or the Geneva Bible and are the only two translations of the traditional, reliable, inspired, [GOD BREATHED] immutable and providentially and divinely protected Textus Receptus [TR]

Bridge to Babylon The 1881 Textual Criticism Controversy

             (169 mins.)

The definitive and historical video Bridge to Babylon (URL above) presents evidence as to  the explosion of over 100 new Critical Text versions or editions of English translations of the Bible.

The attempts to change the Bible by adding to, or taking away from the 1769 edition of the King James Version [KJV] of the Holy Bible will not prevail because GOD Himself preserves and protects His inspired [God Breathed, Spoken] , inerrant, immutable [incapability of any change] and infallible [incapable of error] Holy Word from any and all heresy, blasphemy, confusion , error, additions to, or subtractions from the WORD of GOD. The traditional text founded from the Greek Textus Receptus accounts for more editions and sales than any other Greek text or edition of the Holy Bible worldwide.

 BCE/CE  vs.  BC/AD     Is there a difference?
defend the Truth.   Won’t you?

*A.D. does NOT mean “After Death” as many mistakenly believe. It is Latin for Anno Domini,  a  phrase adopted into English usage that means  “Year of [the] Lord”.  The complete  original phrase "anno Domini nostri Jesu Christi" means "in the year of our Lord Jesus Christ”.   A.D. together with B.C. Before Christ divides all history into before and after the birth of Jesus the Christ [Messiah].

Can the Website  DAILYSPURGEON  be trusted? Is it trustworthy?

Is it of God?

YES, it can!    Yes, it is!     Here’s why.

1 John 4:1-3

Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everyone or !everything] you hear but be testing the spirit [voice] whether it is of God: because many false prophets have gone [come] out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses [avows] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come[who came] out of God, is of God: and every spirit that confesses not [doesn’t audibly avow] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Therefore I do audibly confess,  that Jesus Christ is come  [is here]  in the flesh.

[All translations of the Bible that use  Greek translations other than the traditional and faithful Textus Receptus do not contain the Greek word “ictin”.  This word  means “is” in English] and  its exclusion causes the meaning of its English equivalent, “is here” to change from “is” come” [“is”   here] to “has” come.

This error is self-evident because non-believers, false prophets, atheists and even  heretics can, and frequently do, affirm that Jesus Christ “has come”   [in the flesh].

While this is a true statement, taken at face value, the  meaning of  “has come” is clearly not the same as “is here”. When “has” come is the meaning   the test God has given in His Word to discern whether the words being analyzed are from the Spirit of God or the spirit of antichrist is negated.

One of the most well documented facts in all human history is that Jesus The Christ [The Anointed Messiah]  “has” come in the flesh. However, the essential question  is not whether the spirit [a spoken or written word] confesses that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh but, whether this confession affirms that Jesus Christ, “is come” [is here],  in the flesh.

Please Compare and consider [Meditate upon] this scripture with other related scriptures.  Precept upon precept, Line upon line…
Isaiah 28:10-14

 Ephesians 5:30-32

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery: but I [The Apostle Paul]  speak concerning Christ and the church.  [The body and Bride of CHRIST]

“I speak concerning Christ and the church.” [the fleshly embodiment, here and now,  of the body of Christ]. Because  followers of Jesus Christ are members of the incarnate Body of Christ [The Church] I affirm and avow that Jesus Christ is here

[Not “Has come”] in the flesh.

Which Bible Is The Best?  (57 minutes) David Hocking

THE  HOLY WORD of GOD is :

Immutable, [unchangeable and, incapable of mutation or change]
Inspired, [God breathed, spoken],

Infallible,[Incapable of failing, making a mistake or being wrong]

Inerrant [Without error]

Self-Authenticating  [The Bible is considered to be self-authenticating because proponents who believe it to be so know it contains inherent divine qualities—Such qualities are unity, majesty, power, and internal consistency—that reveal its divine origin, that convinces readers of its truth without relying on external historical proof or church testimony.

This concept, championed by the Reformation, know that the Holy Spirit illuminate:
the "heavenliness of its matter," the "efficacy of its doctrine," and the "majesty of its style" within the text itself, allowing God's Word to be received directly, the same way as seeing God's glory in Christ.]

Providentially Protected and Divinely Preserved

Psalm 12:6-7:   6 The words of the Lord are pure words:
as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them [Thy Words] , O Lord, thou shalt preserve them [Thy Words] from this generation for ever. (AKJV).

Isaiah 40:8: 8 The grass withereth, [withers] the flower fadeth [fades] :but the word of our God shall stand for ever. (AKJV).

Matthew 5:18: 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. (AKJV).

Matthew 24:35: 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. (AKJV).

1 Peter 1:23: 23 being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.  (AKJV).

1 Peter 1:25: 25 but the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.  (AKJV).

Psalm 119:89:  89 For ever,[sic] O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven, Psalm 119:89).  (AKJV).

The Authorized King James Version (AKJV)  also known as The Authorized Version (AV) and The Geneva Bible are the only faithful English Translations from the preeminent, [surpassing all others], traditional Greek translation of the Textus Receptus [Received Text] that self-authenticates. It’s superior to all translations  that use Critical Text translations from other Greek Codices, (Westcott and Hort, Nestle and Aland, Vaticanus, Sinaiticus or Alexandrus).

John 1:1: 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Which Bible Is The Best?  (57 minutes) David Hocking

David’s Summary

(8 minutes) The problem behind Bible translations is not English.  The issue is what Greek text was being used.   I believe the true Author is The Holy Spirit. I believe this is the Word of God… We need to understand that The word of GOD in and of itself is power. Power to change your life and through the work of the Holy Spirit can produce the New Birth. We are born again of an incorruptible seed of the Word of God which liveth and abideth forever.

- David Hocking

John 1:1-3    1In the beginning was he Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in he beginning with God. 3 all things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.

1 John 4:1-3

(AKJV) The Authorized Version AKJV Translation was faithfully translated by fully consecrated,  and dedicated men of faith, beyond reproach, preeminent linguists, language scholars who were fully devoted followers of  The Lord Jesus Christ.   The 1611 King James translation is from the inerrant, inspired and immutable Textus Receptus [Received Text]:

Psalm 119:89  ל   (Lamed)  For ever, [sic] O  Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.

“Thy Word” is The Inspired and Ultimate Stare Decisis [A Latin phrase used in Legal terminology  that establishes the principle of “Legal Precedence” that means to stand by things decided, and with reference to Holy Scripture, to uphold all things God-Breathed [Inspired] and therefore eternally and immutably decided]

4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth [says] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is of God: 3 and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Therefore, I now confess that “Jesus Christ is here in the flesh.”

[All other English translations of the Bible that use Greek manuscripts other than the Textus Receptus erroneously renders the English translation “Has come”.

This Translation error is because inferior Greek manuscripts do not include the Greek word  “ictin”  (This is The Greek word for is that is found only in the Majority Text of the Textus Receptus) and therefore  the failure  to correctly translate “ictin” [Is Here] into English.

The Authorized King James Version AKJV also known as The Authorized Version AV and the Geneva Bible stand alone in making and giving the correct translation: “is here”.

This  error: “has come” is self-evident, because non-believers, false prophets and even heretics  can, and sometimes will,  make the confession that He “has come” in the flesh. This is no surprise because the birth of Jesus Christ is the most well documented fact in all of recorded history.  Indeed, it is a true and factual statement that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. Yet, while this is, a true and factual statement, the meaning in scripture has now been erroneously changed. The new and erroneous meaning is that now even if He “has come” in the flesh  the confession that JESUS CHRIST IS HERE IN THE FLESH is impossible for THE SPIRIT OF ANTICHRIST who is the creator of all heresies  to confess. Without it, Don’t  believe anything  that is said or written.

NEITHER does it provide for the test for believers to discern whether a spirit [voice or written words being read or heard] are from God or from the Antichrist.  It is  true that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh, but it’s essential that the confession that Jesus Christ,  “IS HERE IN THE FLESH” Be confessed  [be spoken].

By Reading, comparing and meditating on any specific Scripture together with other relevant Scriptures, God’s Word clarifies and self-authenticates:

Therefore we will read and meditate on:
1 John 4:1-3 with Ephesians 5:30-32

1 John 4:1-3

Authorized (King James) Version

1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Ephesians 5:30-32

30: for we are members of his [Jesus Christs’]  body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and His bride the church.

[We are members of His body, flesh and bones, one flesh with Him, as His bride the church].

He was born of a virgin 2026 years ago, and HE lives today,

and He is soon returning for His bride; The Church.

"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:

God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,

believed on in the world, received up into glory.  "1 Timothy 3:16

It should be the  desire of every born-again  believer to worship God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength, in Spirit and in truth.

“Study to show yourself approved unto God, a worker that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing [accurately sharing] the word of truth.”    2 Timothy 2:15

To this end, Heavenly Father, we pray that You will bless all who visit this website and bring  many to confess the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.  We ask this in Jesus’ name,  Amen.

  DailySpurgeon.com

This Website does not replace nor can it be a substitute for the in-person, personal assembling of ourselves together. Hebrews 10:23-27

Rather, the Website’s  purpose is to save lost sinners and to teach and encourage believers through God’s Word and prayer to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ [The Anointed Messiah] in personal discipleship an00d worship  of the Lord Jesus as we are being conformed to His very image.

“For whom God did foreknow he did also predestinate to be conformed to the image of his son…” Romans 8:29

We are, instructed in the Word of GOD to assemble,  praise and worship God. Thus, we must assemble and worship the Lord Jesus Christ and exhort [encourage] and provoke one another to do good works.

Such worship may take place through, congregational singing of sacred hymns and spiritual songs, reading, preaching and obeying God’s Word, sharing Christian love and fellowship, agreeing together  with  specific public prayer requests, and reading and exhorting one another in the Word, to provoke one another to love and serve and bear witness with one another in the Holy Ghost.

Admonition: Online streaming does not satisfy personal interaction or the warm fellowship of in-person assemblies of  brothers and sisters who are in Christ Jesus. Electronic media cannot substitute for the warm inter-personal love, fellowship, commitment, and compassion, nor does it provide for a kind and comforting touch or embrace of another believer.  e.g. Laying on of hands, 1 Timothy 4:14;  the right hands of Christian fellowship, Galatians 2:9; or an embrace, Acts 20:1; or greeting with a holy kiss,

1 Thessalonians 5:26.

We give thanks to the Lord, for the Website DailySpurgeon.com  and pray that it will continue to be an instrumentality to build up fully devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.  These followers will be taught to be disciples themselves and will then teach others to be disciples.  (Fully devoted followers of The Lord Jesus, The Christ [The Anointed  Messiah]. )

We pray that you will also be a radiant inspired instrumentality of God to share the good news of Jesus Christ with every one, encouraging them to become the very image of Jesus Christ.

This ministry was begun as daily e-mails of Faith’s Checkbook by Charles H. Spurgeon were sent to Jon Edward Riley.  Jon shared these messages with others and soon over 300 were added to the mailing list through his witness as he witnessed and  sharing  his testimony with them.

Jon was called home by his loving Father in Heaven on January 16, 2021 leaving a legacy of this Website to minister to all who will  benefit in this labor of Love to the glorify God and His Eternal Kingdom. ALL Glory belongs to God, alone.

Jon is honored here; giving honor to whom honor is due.  Romans 13:7

We pray that many will be born again, challenged, encouraged, and built-up to become fully devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ and be conformed to His image; that they might be the firstborn among many brethren.  Romans 8:28-29.

Jon loved to say, “I’m a blood-bought, born-again Child of God!” to anyone he happened to meet.

… Jon’s  testimony lives on from one who, by grace, through faith was forever accepted in the Beloved; who’s loving ways brought the good news of Jesus to many. and one who is now present with the LORD  in glory forever.  One who, one day, we’ll reunite..

Jon  would sometimes just sing-out some of the following songs on the way to church, or just singing along with the Elvis Gospel CD that was always in our F-150’s CD player while riding with his Dad or,  Best of all, when  an inspired,  spontaneous praise from the Lord would just pop out from his joyful, creative, redeemed and loving heart.

Some Songs Jon Loved to Sing:

I Love You Lord    by the Gaither choir

I Love You Lord  Universal Music Group

I  LOVE  You  Lord   by Jared Reynolds
Where No One Stands Alone   Gaither Vocal Band

Lead Me  & Rock-a My Soul   by Elvis and friends

He Knows Just What I Need  by Elvis

How Great Thou Art    with  Elvis
Lead Me & Rock-a My Soul   Elvis and friends
Lead Me, Guide Me  by Elvis

It Is No Secret   by Elvis written by Stuart Hamblen

The following recordings were discovered several months  after Jon was called home on January 16th 2021.  It’s such a blessing, to hear Elvis sing the Gospel message in song but it can’t compare with the Glory of being in the presence of the LORD for all eternity.

LIFE    by Elvis

*I Can Only Imagine being present with the LORD,  or hearing the completed song the Lord completed with Jon when he arrived; a song known only to the Lord,  to Jon and the few who heard Jon sing it here. Lyrics remembered  from him singing:   "See my Jesus, Walkin' on duh Waduh"…  an original, inspired song from our beloved  Jon, himself a true and renown original.

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE   with Wynonna Judd.

LOVE WITHOUT END, AMEN  (A Father’s Love) by George Strait honoring George H.W. Bush  (41st President) A favorite song of the President.

It’s also my sincere  message of love to all  my children, grand-children and great grand-children  and all loved ones.

…Jon would always say “Later”; [as in, see-ya later] instead of “good bye”.  It was the only farewell greeting he would ever use when parting company with a friend; and, everyone was Jon’s friend.

… He would never  say “good-bye”.

Now, as we remember the sound of him saying “Later”, it rings true in a  new and deeper meaning and it brings a joy and comfort to the hearts of those whom he loved so well; those who love him still and will forever more.

… and how much sweeter to us now, are the promises in these two Hymns:

’TILL WE MEET AGAIN. (sing along, won’t you?)

Before conversion, the claims of God mean nothing to us, but when God's Word speaks to our hearts, [by the Holy Spirit] the challenge becomes inescapable [and Irresistible ]. Self-searching begins, and the kindness of God's forgiving love is grasped as never before. Here is God's reasoning with souls.

Christ Prepares His Church

The call of the disciples, their unique role, and the care and patience of Christ in their training. Then the preparation of the church for extreme and persistent opposition, the reasons why demons were cast out, the unpardonable sin, and the supreme mark of true conversion.

2 Corinthians 1.20

The goodness of God is fully demonstrated in the promises He makes in the Bible. That the Creator and Sovereign God should deign to give promises to us is amazing. Here are the major promises, how Christ makes them possible, and how we receive them.

Sanctify Them Through Thy Truth      John 17:17    Dr. Peter Masters, Pastor
Sanctification (purification, consecration and commitment) by the Word is the will of Christ for His own, and here we turn to the first three of the Ten Commandments to challenge our souls. How should these be applied today in our lives and churches?

What Is the Gospel  by the late Dr. R. C. Sproul
Christians are called to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but in our day there is confusion about the content of the Gospel. The biblical Gospel is challenged not only by Roman Catholics and liberals, but by those who claim to be evangelical. In this lecture, Dr. R. C. Sproul will clarify exactly what the Gospel is and what it is not.

PRAYER 6. Part 5 of 5 February 1st   THE WONDERS CALVARY [The Crucifixion]

Lord, visit our church. We have heard Thy message to the churches at Ephesus; it is a message to us also. Oh! do not let any of us lose our first love. Let not our church grow cold and dead. We are not, we fear, what once we were. Lord, revive us!

All our help must come from Thee.

Give back to the church its love, its confidence, its holy daring, its consecration, its liberality [generosity], its holiness. Give back all it ever had and give it much more. Take every member and wash his feet, Sweet Lord, most tenderly, and set us with clean feet in a clean road, with a clean heart to guide them, and do [Lord] bless us as Thou art wont [accustomed] to do after a divine fashion.

Bless us, our Father, and let all the churches of Jesus Christ partake [share] of like cause and tenderness. Walking among the golden candlesticks [today’s churches] [fine-tune] every lamp and make every light, even though it burneth [burns] but feebly now, to shine out gloriously  through Thy care.

Now, bless the sinners. Lord, convert [save] them. O God, save men, save this great city, this wicked city, this slumbering dead city. Lord, arouse it, arouse it by any means, that it may turn unto its God. Lord, save sinners all the world over, and let Thy precious Word be fulfilled.

“Behold He cometh with clouds.”

Why dost Thou [do You] tarry? Make no tarrying, O, our Lord. And now unto Father, Son, and Holy Ghost be glory for ever and ever. [In the name of the Lord Jesus] Amen.

ANECDOTE 183: February 1st FAITH AND JOY.

“Is it not surprising,” said one, “that God should have heard my prayers, and have been so gracious to me in providence ?”

“No,” said an old saint, whose long experience had taught her more of the Lord,

“It does not surprise me, it is just like him, it is his way with his people.”

Oh, to feel that great mercy is [just] like him; that it is what we should expect of God, that he should give great deliverances, should walk the waters of our griefs, and bid them cease their raging!

It is a blessed faith which enables us to recognize Jesus on the waters, and to say,

“I know it is Jesus, nobody but Jesus could act so wondrously; I might not have known him if I had seen him working in an ordinary way, or traveling like a common wayfarer, but here amidst extra-ordinary seasons I expected his help; if I never had seen him before, I expected to see him now; and now [that] I do see him I am not amazed,
though I am delighted.

I looked for him, and I knew that when the need of him was greatest, his coming would be sure.”

When faith brightens the eye of hope with the flash of expectation, joy is not far away.

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK February 1st NEVER DESPAIR  by C.H. Spurgeon 1834—1892

-But unto you that fear my name, shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings —Malachi 4:2

Mas a vosotros los que temeis mi nombre, nacerá el Sol de justicia, y en sus alas traerá salud- Malaquias 4:2

Fulfilled once in the first advent [the first coming] of our glorious Lord [Jesus], and yet to have a fuller accomplishment in His second advent [second coming], this gracious word is also for daily use.

Is it dark with the reader? Does the night deepen into a denser blackness? Still let us not despair: the sun will yet [surely] rise. When the night is darkest, dawn is nearest.

The sun which will arise is of no common sort. It is THE sun —

the Sun of Righteousness, whose every ray is holiness.

He who comes to cheer us, comes in the way of justice as well as of mercy, comes to violate no law even to save us.

Jesus displays the holiness of God just as much as His love.

Our deliverance, when it comes, will be safe because [it is] righteous.

Our one point of inquiry should be

-Do we fear the name of the Lord?

Do we reverence the living God, and walk in His ways?-

Then for us the night must be short; and when the morning cometh [comes], all the sickness and sorrow of our soul will be over forever.

Light, warmth, joy, and clearness of vision will come, and healing of every disease and distress will follow after. Has Jesus risen [as the sunrise] upon us? Let us sit in the sun. Has He hidden His face?

Let us wait for His rising. He will shine forth as surely as the sun.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord Jesus, that You continuously arise with healing in Your wings to those that fear Your name. You are the *only, truly authentic and AWESOME One, Lord Jesus, Amen.

MORNING February 1st

"They shall sing in the ways of the Lord”— Psalm 138:5

─Y cantarán de los caminos de Jehová─ Salmos 138:5

THE time when Christians begin to sing in the ways of the Lord is when they first lose their burden at the foot of the Cross. Not even the songs of the angels seem so sweet as the first song of rapture [unspeakable joy] that gushes from the inmost soul of the forgiven child of God.

You know how John Bunyan [Author of Pilgrim’s Progress, written in a Bedford, England jail– [that became the world’s most famous allegory] describes it.

When poor Pilgrim lost his burden at the Cross, he gave three great leaps, and went on his way singing:

Blest [blessed] Cross! blest [blessed] Sepulchre [grave]!

Blest [blessed] rather be,

The Man that there was put to shame for me!

Believer, do you recollect [recall]  the day when your fetters [shackles] fell off? Do you remember the place when Jesus met you and said,

"I have loved thee with an everlasting love; I have blotted out as a cloud thy transgressions, and as a thick cloud thy [your] sins; they shall not be mentioned against thee [you] any more forever."

Oh, what a sweet season that is when Jesus takes away the pain of sin. When the Lord first pardoned my sin, I was so joyous that I could scarcely refrain [keep] from dancing. On my road home from the house where I had been set at liberty [saved], I thought that I must tell the stones in the street the story of my deliverance. My soul was so full of joy, that I wanted to tell every snow-flake that was falling from heaven of the wondrous love of Jesus, who had blotted out the sins of one of the chief [ring leaders] of rebels. But it is not only at the commencement [beginning] of the Christian life that believers have reason for song; as long as they live, they discover cause to sing in the ways of the Lord, and their experience of his constant loving-kindness leads them to say,

"I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth."

See to it, brother [bretheren], that you magnify the Lord this day.

Long as we tread this desert land,

New mercies shall new songs demand.

EVENING   February 1st

“Thy love to me was wonderful.”— 2 Samuel 1:26

─Más maravilloso me fué tu amor ─ 2 Samuel 1:26

COME, dear readers, let each one of us speak for himself of the wonderful love, not of Jonathan, [David’s close friend] but of Jesus. We will not relate what we have been told, but the things which we have tasted and handled of the love of Christ. Thy love to me, O Jesus, was wonderful when I was a stranger wandering far from Thee, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind.

Thy love restrained me from committing the sin which is unto death, and withheld me from self-destruction. Thy love held back the axe when Justice said, “Cut it down! why cumbereth it [why should it clutter] the ground?” Thy love drew me into the wilderness, stripped me there, and made me feel the guilt of my sin, and the burden of mine iniquity [my sin].

Thy love spake [spoke] thus comfortably to me when I was sore [utterly] dismayed—

“Come unto me, and I will give thee [you] rest.”

Oh, how matchless Thy [Your] love when in a moment, Thou didst [You did] wash my sins away, and make my polluted soul, which was crimson [scarlet red] with the blood of my nativity [birth], and black with the grime of my transgressions [sins], to be white as the [wind] driven snow, and pure as the finest wool. [And Oh,] How Thou didst [You did] commend Thy [Your] love when Thou didst [You did] whisper in my ears,

“I am Thine [Yours] and Thou art [You are] mine.”

Kind [loving] were those accents [spoken words] when Thou sadist [You said],

“The Father Himself loveth [loves] you.”

And sweet the moments, passing [beyond] sweet, when thou declaredst [you declared] to me

“the love of the Spirit.”

Never shall my soul forget those chambers [places] of fellowship where Thou has [You have] unveiled [warmly revealed] Thyself to me.

Had Moses [Did Moses have] his cleft [crack] in the rock, where he saw the train [robe’s trailing part], the back parts of his God? We, too, have had our clefts in the rock, where we have seen the full splendors of the Godhead in the person of [Jesus] Christ.

Did David remember the tracks of the wild goat, the land of Jordan and the Hermonites?

We, too, can remember spots [moments in time] to memory dear [precious memories] , equal to these in blessedness.

Precious Lord Jesus, give us a fresh draught [drink] of Thy wondrous love to begin the month with. Amen.

A SINNER’S PRAYER:  February1st  FOR WHOSOEVER:

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved     … pray like this, won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am lost.  I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross to pay my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity in Hell. My nature and behavior  has been sinful from birth.  Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m sorry for each and every sin I have ever done and look to You to forgive them all.
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You,  Lord Jesus, right now to save me.  You died on the cross for me, as God’s  sacrifice for my sin.

Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me,  I trust You to be my Savior and Lord.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins. I want  to follow You from now on.

You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross.

Thank you,  Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was born and that You love me still

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting  in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is alive and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave.

Thank You for saving me heavenly Father and Holy Spirit for Your comfort and guidance in all things.

With all my heart, thank you Lord Jesus for saving me. In your name, I pray, Amen.
