Rejoice In The LORD Always  tap to sing along, won’t you?  Philippians 4:4

WE thank the  LORD for the website dailyspurgeon.com   that proclaims Jesus as the promised Messiah and provides scriptural content to support the making of fully devoted disciples who follow the Word of God; The Lord Jesus Christ.

This Internet ministry was begun by  e-mails of  Spurgeon’s  Faith’s Checkbook,  being sent to Jon Edward Riley (1971- 2021). A mailing list began to grow as others learned about it and asked to be included. This mailing list grew and led to the establishment of a website to present the Good News of Jesus Christ, and to deliver Biblical content to support God’s work in Local Churches in making fully devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. To this end and by means of this website, we publish content from Charles Haddon Spurgeon. (1834 – 1892) known as The Prince of Preachers.

This foundational ministry, established  by GOD  through C.H. Spurgeon, continues through  the  Metropolitan Tabernacle today. (Brief History) a church begun in 1650. The church building was constructed by members of the congregation in 1861 and continues to preach God’s Word.

10 Things You Should Know about Charles Spurgeon

February 19, 2018  by: Michael Reeves

1. His ministry began in the year of his conversion as a young man.
Spurgeon was raised in a Christian home, but was converted in 1850 at fifteen years old. Caught in a snowstorm, he took refuge in a small Primitive Methodist chapel in Colchester. After about ten minutes, with only twelve to fifteen people present, the preacher fixed his eyes on Spurgeon and spoke to him directly:

“Young man, you look very miserable.” Then, lifting up his hands, he shouted, “Young man, look to Jesus Christ. Look! Look! Look! You have nothin’ to do but to look and live.”

Spurgeon later wrote, ‘Oh! I looked until I could almost have looked my eyes away.’ 1

The ‘Prince of Preachers’ was tricked into preaching his first sermon that same year. An older man had asked Spurgeon to go to the little village of Teversham the next evening, “for a young man was to preach there who was not much used to services, and very likely would be glad of company.” It was only the next day that he realized the ‘young man’ was himself.2

2. He was a man of hard work and huge influence.
He went on to preach in person up to thirteen times per week, gathered the largest church of his day, and could make himself heard in a crowd of twenty-three thousand people (without amplification). In print he published some eighteen million words, selling over fifty-six million copies of his sermons in nearly forty languages in his own lifetime.

3. He was self-consciously a theological and doctrinal preacher.
While Spurgeon is not known as a theologian as such, he was nevertheless a deeply theological thinker and his sermons were rich in doctrine, and dripping with knowledge of historical theology – especially that of the Puritans.

Some preachers seem to be afraid lest [for fear that] their sermons should be too rich in doctrine, and so injure the spiritual digestion of their hearers. This fear is superfluous. . . This is not a theological age, and therefore it rails at sound doctrinal teaching, on the principle that ignorance despises wisdom. The glorious giants of the Puritan age fed on something better than sermons of whipped creams and pastries which are now so much in vogue.3

4. He was pre-eminently a theologian and preacher of the cross.
Spurgeon’s was a cross-centered and cross-shaped theology, for the cross was “the hour” of Christ’s glorification (John 12:23–24), the place where Christ was and is exalted, the only message able to overturn the hearts of men and women otherwise enslaved to sin. Along with (Isaiah 45:22), one of Spurgeon’s favorite Bible verses was (John 12:32) : “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”

He insisted on celebrating the Lord’s Supper every Sunday, and often broke bread during the week as well. He believed his preaching of the crucified Christ was the only reason why such great crowds were drawn to his church for so many years.

Who can resist his charms? One look of his eyes overpowers us. See with your heart those eyes when they are full of tears for perishing sinners, and you are a willing subject. One look at his blessed person subjected to scourging and spitting for our sakes will give us more idea of his crown rights than anything besides. Look into his pierced heart as it pours out its life-flood for us, and all disputes about his sovereignty are ended in our hearts. We own him Lord because we see how he loved.4

Regeneration, he saw, is a work of pure grace—and those the Lord regenerates, he will indwell.

5. He aimed his ministry and preaching at the new birth.
Regeneration was one of the “three Rs” (ruin, redemption, and regeneration) Spurgeon always sought to preach. And regeneration was something he always expected to see as he preached the gospel. A friend of his once came to him, depressed because for three months of ministry he had not seen a single conversion. Spurgeon slyly asked, “Do you expect the Lord to save souls every time you open your mouth?” Embarrassed, the man answered “Oh, no, sir!”

“Then,” Spurgeon replied, “that is just the reason why you have not had conversions:

‘According to your faith be it unto you.’ ” 5  Matthew 9:29

Regeneration, he saw, is a work of pure grace—and those the Lord regenerates, he will indwell. And “with such an indweller we need not fear, but that this poor heart of ours will yet become perfect as God is perfect; and our nature through his indwelling shall rise into complete meetness for the inheritance of the saints in light.”6

6. He knew how to enjoy life.
Spurgeon loved life and saw the creation as a blessing from God to be enjoyed. For tired ministers, he recommended:

A day’s breathing of fresh air upon the hills, or a few hours’ ramble in the beech woods’ umbrageous calm,’ which ‘would sweep the cobwebs out of the brain of scores of our toiling ministers who are now but half alive. A mouthful of sea air, or a stiff walk in the wind’s face, would not give grace to the soul, but it would yield oxygen to the body, which is next best.’7

He couldn’t resist walking outside in thunderstorms (‘I like to hear my Heavenly Father’s voice in the thunder’), he is known for his cigar smoking, and he had a keen interest in botany. Like us all, Spurgeon was uniquely himself. Yet his big-heartedness and joy as he walked through his Father’s creation displays exactly the sort of life that will always grow from sound theology.

This introduction to Spurgeon’s life and ministry—organized around themes such as the centrality of Christ and the empowerment of the Spirit—will encourage readers to live for God's glory.

7. He was a mischievous, funny man.
'What a bubbling fountain of humor  Mr. Spurgeon had!’ wrote his friend William Williams. ‘I have laughed more, I verily believe, when in his company than during all the rest of my life besides.’8A whole chapter of Spurgeon’s ‘autobiography’ is entitled ‘Pure Fun,’ and he regularly surprised people who expected the zealous pastor to be dour and intense. Grandiosity, religiosity, and humbug could all expect to be pricked by his wit.

8. He was serious about joy.
Spurgeon’s humor and jollity [joviality] were not trivial or frivolous. For him, joy was a theological matter and a manifestation of that happiness and cheer which is found in Christ alone. He refused to take himself—or any other sinner—too seriously, believing that to be alive in Christ means to fight not only the habits and acts of sin but also sin’s temperamental sullenness, ingratitude, bitterness, and despair.

Christ wishes his people to be happy. When they are perfect, as he will make them in due time, they shall also be perfectly happy. As heaven is the place of pure holiness, so is it the place of unalloyed happiness; and in proportion as we get ready for heaven, we shall have some of the joy which belongs to heaven, and it is our Saviour’s will that even now his joy should remain in us, and that our joy should be full.9

9. He suffered with depression.
Spurgeon was full of life and joy, but also suffered deeply with depression as a result of personal tragedies, illness, and stress. Today he would almost certainly be diagnosed as clinically depressed and treated with medication and therapy. His wife, Susannah, wrote, “My beloved’s anguish was so deep and violent, that reason seemed to totter in her throne, and we sometimes feared that he would never preach again.”10

Spurgeon believed that Christian ministers should expect a special degree of suffering to be given  them as a way of forming them for Christlike, compassionate ministry. Christ himself was tempted in all points like as we are yet without sin. (Heb. 4:15)  (Heb. 2:16–18). It is weak and suffering people that God sometimes uses to minister to the weak and suffering.

10. He was emphatically Christ-centered.
Spurgeon saw theology much like astronomy: as the solar system makes sense only when the sun is central, so systems of theological thought are coherent only when Christ is central. Every doctrine must find its place and meaning in its proper relation to Christ. “Be assured that we cannot be right in the rest, unless we think rightly of HIM. . . . Where is Christ in your theological system?”11

Spurgeon’s view of the Bible, his Calvinism, and his view of the Christian life are all deeply Christocentric–and even that astronomical analogy may be too weak to capture quite how Christ-centered Spurgeon was in his thinking.

For him, Christ is not merely one component—however pivotal—in the bigger machinery of the gospel. Christ himself is the truth we know, the object and reward of our faith, and the light that illumines every part of a true theological system. He wrote, ‘He himself is Doctor and Doctrine, Revealer and Revelation, the Illuminator and the Light of Men. He is exalted in every word of truth, because he is its sum and substance. He sits above the gospel, like a prince on his own throne. Doctrine is most precious when we see it distilling from his lips and embodied in his person. Sermons are valuable in proportion as they speak of him and point to him.’12

Is the dailyspurgeon.com  website trustworthy ?

Is it true?     Is it of God?

Here’s how it must be verified:

1 John 4:1-3  Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [voice] you hear but be testing the spirits [voices] whether they are of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit [voice]  of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come from God, is of God:  and every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit [voice] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Therefore, we should [must] test every voice [spirit] whether it is from God, bonified and trustworthy to be believed only if it i confesses [says]  that…

“Jesus Christ is here, from God, in the flesh.”

[All English translations of the Bible except the King James Version  erroneously translate various Greek texts into English as  “Has come” .

Such translations ignore the original Greek word “ictin”  [is] that is present in the Majority Texts MT and  subsequently in the Textus Recptus [Received Text] therefore failing to correctly translate  the verb  as, “Is come” [Is here].  (KJV)

This  error is made  because no modern Greek text follows the  MT [Majority Texts] or the TR  [Textus Receptus] and have ignored the Greek verb “is”, (3rd person, present tense.) The error of this omission show itself in legal jargon as res ipsa loquitur [It speaks for itself]  because non-believers and false prophets can, and sometimes do,  affirm that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh.

This is not surprising nor is it, per se, a false statement. This, because the  birth of Jesus Christ is the most well documented fact in history.  Indeed, Jesus Christ has indeed come in the flesh.

Translating this as ‘has come’ rather than  “is”,  is not, on the surface a false statement. Nor is it the salient issue. However, the failure to establish a logical and rhetorically sound rubric to addresses the question as to whether the words are from God or antichrist is glaring. Namely, it does not provide the  method for actual discernment of whether a spirit [spoken or written words]  can be concluded as to whether they are from God or from the antichrist. Virtually anyone may avow that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. A desired, efficacious method of discernment could  not therefore with this faulty translation be made .

Again, while it is  true that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh, this alone is inadequate to discern truth from error. “Has come” may not be made in lieu of  “is come [is here],  from God, in the flesh”.

Furthermore, by comparing  scripture with scripture we can more fully comprehend  God’s message of discernment:

1 John 4:1-3 with Ephesians 5:30-32

30 for we are members of his [Jesus Christ’s]  body,  of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery:

but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

[So, we are members of His body, flesh and bone, [we are] one flesh with Him,  The Body of Christ (In the flesh), the Church].

He was born of a virgin 2024 years ago.  He lives today,

and He’s soon coming again,  for His bride; the Church [All Blood Bought, Born-again believers].

"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:

God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,

believed on in the world, received up into glory."
1 Timothy 3:16

INVITATION

You are invited to repent, trust in  and confess publicly the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior and Lord.

This website can not replace the in-person gatherings with other believers to worship, hear face-to-face Gospel preaching, enjoy fellowship, and join together in prayer, study of God’s Word in the  presence and fellowship in the Lord Jesus.

Rather, it is a resource to develop a deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus through personal devotion, praise and worship and to be built-up and strengthened in the Lord through God’s Holy Word.

“Study to show yourself approved unto God, a worker that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing [analyzing  and sharing] the word of truth.”

   2 Timothy 2:15

We are grateful to  the Lord for providing dailyspurgeon.com  a website to support devotional vigor and  to expand, with God’s help, the e-mail ministry that was begun with my beloved son, Jon Edward Riley 1971-2021.  He is honored here as we honor those to whom honor is due; Jon often testified to anyone who would listen. Sometimes to ones who may not have wanted to.

 “ I’m a blood bought, born-again child of God.”

We Desire to Worship God in Spirit and in truth:
• Pray with our heavenly Father, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; 1 Thessalonians 5:17
• Hear and obey the eternal, inspired, immutable, inerrant, infallible, revealed and protected Word of God, revealed through Jesus Christ, the living Word; 1 Peter 1:23
• Be [Be being] filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:18-19
•Gathering in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
- Jesus Christ

As Jon remembered veterans, we remember him: Jon Edward Riley (1971-2021) who would, on occasion, just bust-out singing the following songs; sometimes, on the way to church sometimes just singing along with the Elvis Gospel CD that was always kept in the truck’s CD player or,

even better, a song the Lord would spontaneously put in his joyful and loving heart.

I LOVE You Lord by Jared Reynolds

How Great Thou Art with Elvis

Lead Me & Rock-a My Soul by Elvis and friends

…Jon always said “Later”; [see-ya-later] instead of “good bye”. It was his unique way to bid farewell … He would never say “good-bye”. Now,  remembering the sound of his voice saying “Later”, it rings true with a  new and deeper meaning and it brings a joyfulness and comfort to the hearts of those he loved so well; those who love him still, and always will.

… we are reminded of the promise of the Hymn:

’Till We Meet Again. Amen.

Long before the Conservative Resurgence, Dr. R.G. Lee was the Southern Baptist champion of biblical infallibility and inerrancy. In his sermon, “The Word of God – Not Broken and Not Bound,” published in 1930, in which Dr. Lee proclaimed the following regarding the HOLY BIBLE: (KJV)

“All [Prophets and Apostles] who wrote are immortalized by their writing of this great Book, supernatural in origin, divine in authorship, human in penmanship, infallible in authority, infinite in scope, universal in interest, personal in application, regenerative in power, inspired [God breathed] in totality.”

Dr. R.G. Lee preached the inspired Gospel sermon,   Payday Someday over 1,200 times.

Why Resist Almighty God?

Job 21.14

Human life is viewed here as a message sent to God, demanding that he gets out of our way, because we have no interest in Him. Here is what lies behind our hostility, what we lose by it, and the way to acceptance by Him.

Attacks On The Soul

1 Peter 2.11

With words only meaningful to believers, the apostle warns of the deniers of the 'lower', fallen nature residual in them. Here are the core fleshly lusts and how they may be launched at believers, the need of vigilance and the remedies for their defeat.

SACRED LITERATURE:

THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS by John Bunyan

ORIGINAL: The Pilgrim’s Progress  Pub. by Logos in 1853  from the 1678 Original

REVISED: by Barry E. Horner: The Pilgrim’s Progrefs  [sic] 1999

Pilgrim Progress is the world’s most famous Allegory, It was commonly the only book found in the cabin of early American Settlers and was  loved and  read more than any book, second only to the Holy Bible.  It’s  also considered, by some, as being the world’s first English novel. It’s likely the most published book other than the Bible of all time. There were 1,300 editions printed before 1938, 250 years after the Bunyan’s death. Hence, the world’s most famous Allegory.

Comment by Spurgeon from the Spurgeon Sermon  Christ in You

"Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me of Mr. Bunyan’s picture of [the town of] Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [melodies] , for the king himself was come. Up to the castle of the heart [main castle]  he rode in triumph, and took his royal throne to be henceforth the sole lord and king of the city.

Christ in you is a right royal word. Christ swaying his scepter from the center of your being over every power and faculty, desire and resolve, bringing every thought into captivity to himself, oh, this is glory begun, and the sure pledge of heaven. Oh, for more of the imperial sovereignty of Jesus, The Messiah;  our liberty to be absolutely under his sway.

Spurgeon Sermon: Christ in You, May 13, 1883 Scripture: Colossians 1:27  From: Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit, Volume 29   (cit. II. THE SWEETNESS OF THIS MYSTERY, WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU, § 5)

You may choose to read, listen or share Pilgrim’s Progress as a bed time story with your little ones.   It will bless, strengthen, encourage and instruct pilgrims of all ages and will create precious and enduring memories in little ears.

Link here for the Complete Index of the  Bible Scriptures that are found in Pilgrim’s Progress.

The author, John Bunyan, presents God’s View from  the God inspired [breathed] words from God Himself;  not diminished by any human  effort to define or describe any variety of a “World View”.

PRAYER 6    Part 3 of  5

THE WONDERS [of]  CALVARY. [The Cross]

O Spirit of God, we love Thee this day, especially for dwelling in us. How canst [can] Thou abide in so rude [endure so impolite] a habitation. How canst [can] Thou make these bodies to be Thy temples, and yet Thou dost [do] so, for [those] which let Thy name be had in reverence so long as we live.

O Lord, we would delight ourselves in Thee this day [today]. Give us faith and love and hope that with these three graces we may draw very near to the Triune [Three-In-One] God.

Thou wilt [will] keep us, Thou wilt [will] preserve us, Thou wilt [will] feed us, Thou wilt [will] lead us, and Thou wilt [will]  bring us to the mind of God, and there, wilt [will] Thou show us Thy love, and in the glory everlasting and boundless, there wilt [will] Thou make us know and taste and feel the joys that cannot be expressed.

But [Just] a little longer waiting and we shall come to the golden shore; but [just] a little longer fighting and we shall receive the crown of life that fadeth [fades]  not away.

[Thank You for this in Your name Lord Jesus, Amen]

ANECDOTE  181:   Need of Spiritual Exercise

Some men seem as if they only had to meet one form of trial. They remind me of the Indian Fakir;  [an itinerant Hindu magician]  he holds his arm straight up; that is the triumph of his strength. Now, God does not exercise a believer’s limbs [un]till they grow stiff; but he exercises them in every way, that they may become supple, so that, come what may, he is ready to achieve any exploit [challenge].

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK  JANUARY 31  A HEAVENLY ESCORT   by  C.H. Spurgeon

-And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest [go]— Genesis 28:15

-Y he aqui, yo soy contigo, y te guardaré por donde quiera que fueres-  Genesis 28:15

Do we need journeying mercies? Here are choice ones

—God’s presence and preservation—.

In all places we need both of these, and in all places, we shall have them if we go at the call of duty, and not merely according to our own fancy [impulse or whim].

Why should we look upon removal [moving] to another country as a sorrowful necessity when it is laid upon us by the divine will [of God]  ?

In all lands the believer is equally a pilgrim and a stranger; and yet in every region

the Lord is His dwelling place,

even as He has been to His saints in all generations. We may miss the protection of an earthly monarch, [King] but when God says,

-I will keep thee-,

we are in no real danger. This is a blessed passport for a traveler, and a heavenly escort for an emigrant.

Jacob had never left his father’s room before: he had been a mother’s boy, and not an adventurer like his brother. Yet he went abroad, and God went with him. He had little luggage, and no attendants; yet no prince ever journeyed with a nobler bodyguard.
Even while he slept in the open field,

angels watched over him, and the Lord God spoke to him.

If the Lord bids us go, let us say with our Lord Jesus,

-Arise, let us go hence-. [let’s go, sp: Vámanos]

Prayer: Thank you Father that You will be with me and keep [protect] me wherever I  go  In Jesus name, Amen.

… and pray for souls to be saved and believers to be strengthened

The Lord … is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.  2 Peter 3:9

Pray also that believers will be led… led                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          by the Holy Spirit to rightly divide and proclaim God’s Word providentially protected and preserved by God, Himself.

John 3:16:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but be having everlasting life.

This Translation is from  the Textus Receptus (TR)  [Received Text] and is an example of the overwhelming majority of extant Greek texts MT that is in substantial agreement in their text itself and avoids inferior, ambiguous and missing primary source texts of the variant  codices Alexandrinus, Sinaiticus and Vaticanus. There is substantial disagreement and missing texts among these codices which do not agree with one another,  are created from incomplete codices and introduce modern biblical criticism theory that embraces ambiguities, uncertainties and variant readings [interpretations]. These are found in a multitude of new English translations and contain doctrinal compromises that nuance-away or otherwise diminish  the highest glory due to God Almighty.  The TR is the original primary New Testament Greek source of the Authorized King James Translation. It’s the ONLY ENGLISH translation that comes directly from the time tested and superior Textus Receptus.

For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in Heaven. Psalm 119:89

God is not the author of confusion. 1 Corinthians 4:33

God, Himself, providentially protects and preserves His WORD. All of His Word is inspired, [God-breathed], self-authenticating, immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful [omnipotent] Word.

  • "When thou hearest [hear] the sound of a going [something stirring] in the tops of the mulberry trees, then thou shalt [shall] bestir  [wake] thyself...” —2 Samuel 5:24
Y cuando oyeres un estruendo que irá por las copas de los morales, entonces te moverás; porque Jehová saldrá delante de ti…  2 Samuel 5:24

  • HE members of Christ's Church [The universal church of all redeemed believers] should be very prayerful, always seeking the unction [anointing] of the Holy One [HOLY GHOST] to rest upon their hearts, that the kingdom of Christ may come, and that

His "will be done on earth, even as it is in heaven.”

But there are times when God seems especially, to favor Zion [His chosen people] and such seasons ought to be to them like

"the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees." We ought then to be doubly prayerful, doubly earnest, wrestling more at the throne than we have been used to doing.

Action should then be and vigorous. The tide is flowing—now let us pull heartily for the shore.

O for Pentecostal outpourings and Pentecostal labors.

Christian, in yourself there are times "when thou hearest [hear] the sound of a going [the faintest stir] in the tops of the mulberry trees."

You have a peculiar power in prayer. The Spirit of God gives you joy and gladness. The Scripture is open to you; the promises are applied. You walk in the light of God's countenance [God’s  smiling  face]. You have peculiar freedom and liberty in devotion, and more closeness of communion [fellowship] with Christ than usual.

Now, at such joyous periods when you hear the

"sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees,"

is the time to bestir yourself; now is the time to get rid of any evil habit, while God the Spirit helps your infirmities.

Spread your sail; but remember what you sometimes sing—

 I can only spread the sail;
Thou! Thou! [You!]  must breathe the auspicious gale
[You must create the favorable winds].

Only be sure you have the sail up. Do not miss the gale for want [lack] of preparation for it. Seek help of God, that you may be more earnest in duty when made more strong [stronger] in faith; that you may be more constant in prayer when you have more liberty at the throne; that you may be more holy in your conversation while you live more closely with [Jesus] Christ [Messiah].

EVENING    January 30

"In whom also we have obtained an inheritance." —Ephesians 1:11

WHEN Jesus gave Himself for us, He gave us all the rights and privileges that went [comes] with Himself. Therefore, as eternal God, He has essential rights to which no creature may venture to pretend; yet, as the mediator, Jesus, the federal Head of the covenant of grace, He has no heritage apart from us.

All the glorious consequences of His obedience to death are the joint riches of all who are in Him, and on whose behalf, He accomplished the divine will.

See, He enters into glory, but not for Himself alone, for it is written,

"Whither [where] the Forerunner [Jesus Christ] is for us entered [entered for us]."
(Hebrews 6:20).

Does He stand in the presence of God?

"He appears in the presence of God for us" (Heb. 9:24).

Consider this, believer. You have no right to heaven in yourself:

YOUR RIGHT LIES IN [JESUS] CHRIST.

If you are pardoned, it is through His blood.

If you are justified, it is through His righteousness.

If you are sanctified it is because He is made of God unto you sanctification.

If you shall be kept from falling, it will be because you are preserved in Christ Jesus.

And if you are perfected at the last, it will be because you are complete in Him.

Thus, Jesus is magnified [exalted], for all is in Him and by Him.

Thus, the inheritance is made certain [guaranteed] to us, for it is obtained in Him.

Thus, each blessing is the sweeter, and even heaven itself the brighter, because
it is Jesus our Beloved "in whom" we have obtained [received] all.

Where is the man who can estimate our divine portion? Weigh the riches of Christ in scales and His treasures in balances, and then think of counting the treasures which belong to [all] the saints.

Reach the bottom of [Jesus] Christ's sea of joy, and then hope to understand the bliss which God has prepared for them that love Him.

Leap over the boundaries of [Jesus] Christ's possessions, and then dream of a limit to the inheritance of the elect.

"All things are yours, for ye [y’all] are Christ’s [you-all belong to Jesus Christ]
and Christ is God’s."

A SINNER’S PRAYER:   … FOR WHOSOEVER: [One and all]
Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved     … pray like this, won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am hopeless.  I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross for my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned to Hell. I have been  self-centered from birth.  Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m guilty and sorry for each and every sin I have done and look to You to forgive me of them all.
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You,  Lord Jesus, right now to save me.  You died on the cross for me, because of my sin  and You say,  “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21.

Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me,  I trust You, to  be my Lord and Savior from now on.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins.  I ask You to abide in me and give me the desire to always follow You.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross.  Even the sins of the whole world.

Thank you,  Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me even before I was born and that You still love me now. I love You too.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You have called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting  in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. Romans  8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [Holy Ghost, The Comforter, The Spirit of Truth]

Thank You for saving me heavenly Father. With all my heart, thank you Father for saving me in Jesus’ name,  Amen.

Allow us to share the joy of your new birth with heaven. Won’t you? Heaven rejoices over each redeemed sinner. Luke 15:7

You too can cast your cares on the Lord…

  1. Call on Him. As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.. ...Psalm 55:16

  3. Come to Him. Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest..  Matthew 11:28

  4. Give Him the burden.  Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22]

MISSION STATEMENT:
Our aim is to fulfill God’s purpose in us to save souls, strengthen and encourage believers in the Word, proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ as we serve those in need. We believe the Bible is God’s revealed Word and that through His Word He guides us as individuals and as a local body of believers. We are resolved, God helping us, to study, meditate and pray to rightly divide God’s revealed and preserved Word holding it as the final authority in all things.
The purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to make known the Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ to everyone. We desire to show the love of Jesus  to those in need, especially those in the household of faith. The Bible is God’s everlasting, inspired, (God breathed) inerrant, unchangeable, divinely protected and preserved  message of salvation to the whole world.  It is the essence of  the ministry  inspired here.
The  inspirational source of  preaching, teaching and writing  by Charles Haddon Spurgeon is from this same essence.  His writings continue to be  much read and much used today in the  support of Gospel preaching. Such ministry is still flourishing  in London at  the Metropolitan Tabernacle,  the church constructed for the 6,000 member congregation in the 1800's. Our effort here is to increase  the publication, circulation and use of Spurgeon's materials for the benefit of the church body as well as all other readers.  To this end we have arranged a daily Table of Contents and have added brief annotations [shown in brackets]  while maintaining a strict fidelity to the  original and unabridged text.

The Published Titles from Spurgeon that are included exclusively each day in the Devotion are:

·       C.H. Spurgeon Prayers

·       Spurgeon’s  Illustrative Anecdotes

·       Faith’s Checkbook

·       Morning & Evening

These titles are selected from the inspired body of work created from the preaching and writing of Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892. He created an excellent  legacy of gospel preaching and exposition and is known as the “Prince of Preachers”.  Spurgeon has been and is today widely read with great benefit from the 1800’s to this present time. He is the beloved founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England (Still thriving TODAY through the faithful preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.)  [Click to live-stream current gospel preaching in real time each Sunday from London by Dr. Peter Masters, Metropolitan Tabernacle pastor since 1970.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, please bless Your disciples toward the winning of many souls, and help us to be loving and compassionate toward all who are in need, especially those in the household of faith. I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and for His sake, Amen.

Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not praise or exalt  Charles H. Spurgeon beyond the honor due him. He didn’t need or want it when he was on earth and would have no need or desire for it now. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM and Him crucified.

Precaution: These Messages and prayers alone will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus. Neither do they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word. (The King James version (KJV), known also as the Authorized Version (AV), is the preferred English Bible because its accuracy and fidelity to the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text) avoid doctrinal and editorial weaknesses found in many contemporary editions.

Prayer Selection by Spurgeon must not be offered as a substitute for personal, intimate fervent, heart-felt, prayer. It  is intended rather, to warm the hearts of those who are in prayer seeking a season of authentic two-way, heart-to-heart  fellowship and prayer with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit. Read from the NT Book of Romans Chapter 8.

The above link is to search for specific words or Scripture references in the King James Bible  (KJV)  inerrant and infallible  English Bible because it is providentially protected and preserved by GOD Himself through the only translation into English by faithful brethren from the established majority text MT from which the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] manuscripts of the New Testament was taken  and the Hebrew Masoretic Text of the Old Testament (Jewish Tanakh).  These manuscripts are providentially protected, and frequently give greater glory to God when compared to variant readings of all modern translations from Modern Critical Texts based on inferior Greek manuscripts.

The established majority manuscripts avoid doctrinal error, inaccuracies in translation, uninspired editorial notations, variant or ambiguous readings taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus.

In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:

* Letters from close relatives are quoted in the Inside Story above

The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,

thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on a defective text. Those who want to honor the Word of God must not promote the use of any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is evil in itself, but because the attitude of being contented to use a blemished version rather than an existing unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has taken the trouble to preserve for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it would be to Him if His people now chose instead to change over to a version that is based on a defective text.

Let the biblical story of Nadab and Abihu be a lesson to all:

And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp. So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said. And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled” (Lev 10:1–6).

JESUS CHRIST, THE MESSIAH, IS RISEN  INDEED! HE IS ALIVE FOREVERMORE!

Resurrection Romans 6:3-5

3  Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

EASTER [Resurrection Sunday] IS NEVER OVER.

Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me, shall never die. Believest  thou this?”

2 Timothy 2:8-26

8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel.

9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:

12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;

18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth [pottery] ; and some to honor, and some to dishonor.

21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet [the perfect match] for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strife.

24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure [perhaps] will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

PRAYER 19, Part 7 of 11

GOD’S UNSPEAKABLE GIFT.

Lord, send Thy life throughout the entire Church of [Jesus] Christ. Lord, visit Thy Church, restore sound doctrine, restore holy and earnest living.

Take away from professors their apparent love for frivolities, frivolous, their attempts to meet the world on its own ground, and

give back the old love to the doctrines of the cross, the doctrines of the Christ [Messiah] of God; and once more

may free grace and dying love be the music that shall refresh the Church,

and make her heart exceeding glad.

[We ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.]

(Attachment: PRAYER 19.doc)

ANECDOTE 290: The Music of Mercy.

When loitering upon the Island of Liddo, [Click for Lido today] off Venice, and listening to the sound of the city’s bells, I [Spurgeon] thought the music charming as it floated across the lagune; [lagoon] but when I returned to the city, and sat down in the center of the music, in the very midst of all the bells, the sweetness changed to a horrible clash, the charming sounds were transformed into a maddening din; not the slightest melody could I detect in any one bell, while harmony in the whole company of noisemakers was out of the question.

Distance had lent enchantment to the sound. The words of poets and eloquent writers may, as a whole, and heard from afar, sound charmingly enough; but how few of them bear a near and minute investigation! Their belfry rings passably, but one would soon weary of each separate bell.

It is never so with the divine words of Jesus. You hear them ringing from afar and they are sweetness itself. When as a sinner, you roamed at midnight like a *traveler lost on the wilds, how sweetly did they call you home!

But now you have reached the house of mercy, you sit and listen to each distinct note of love’s perfect peal, and wonderingly feel

that even angelic harps cannot excel it.

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK May 17 NO NEED TO STINT [Be Stingy] C.H. Spurgeon

-The upright shall have good things in possession- Proverbs 28:10

-Los perfectos heredarán el bien- Proverbios 28:10

The Book of Proverbs is also a Book of Promises. Promises ought to be proverbs among the people of God. This is a very remarkable one. We are accustomed to think of our good things as in reversion, [as future possession ] but here we are told that we shall have them in possession.[Now.]

Not all the malice and cunning of our enemies can work our destruction: they shall fall into the pit which they have digged. Our inheritance is so entailed upon us that we shall not be kept out of it, nor so turned out of the way as to miss it.

But what have we now? We have a quiet conscience through the precious blood of Jesus. We have the love of God set upon us beyond all change. We have power with God in prayer in all time of need. We have the providence of God to watch over us, the angels of God to minister to us, and, above all, the Spirit of God to dwell in us.

In fact, all things are ours. -Whether things present or things to come: all are yours.-

Jesus is ours.

Yea, the divine trinity in unity [three in one] is ours. Hallelujah. Let us not pine and whine, and stint [be stingy] and slave [be a workaholic], since we have good things in possession.

Let us live on our God and rejoice in Him all the day. Help us, O Holy Ghost, precious Holy Spirit!

Prayer: Thank you Lord that -The upright shall have good things in possession- Father, as believers, we desire to be sustained in a life of integrity by Your love and grace through Jesus Christ and by the Holy Spirit through which we expect good things. Help me to be yielded to You Lord.

Without You, I can do nothing. I desire to abide, in You, with yieldedness, always. I pray this in Your name, Lord Jesus, Amen.

MORNING May 17

"So to walk even as He walked." —1 John 2:6

—El que dice que está en él, debe andar como él anduvo —1 Juan 2:6

WHY should Christians imitate Christ? They should do it for their own sakes. If they desire to be in a healthy state of soul,

if they would escape the sickness of sin, and enjoy the vigor of growing grace,

let Jesus be their model.

For their own happiness' sake,

if they would drink well refined [vintage] wine [be being constantly filled with the Holy Spirit];

if they would enjoy holy and happy communion with Jesus;

if they would be lifted up above the cares and troubles of this world,

let them walk even as He walked.

There is nothing that can so assist you to walk towards heaven with good speed, as wearing the image of Jesus on your heart to rule all its motions [emotions desires and actions].

It is when, by the power of the Holy Spirit, you are enabled to walk with Jesus in His very footsteps that you are most happy and most known to be the sons of God.

Peter, afar off [denying the Lord] is both unsafe and uneasy.

Next, for religion’s sake, strive to be like Jesus. Ah! Poor religion, you have been, sorely shot at by cruel foes, but

you have not been wounded one-half so dangerously by your foes as by your friends.

Who made those wounds in the fair [lovely] hand of Godliness? The pretender who used the dagger of hypocrisy. The man who enters the fold, being naught [nothing] but a wolf in sheep's clothing, worries the flock more than the lion outside.

There is no weapon half so deadly as a Judas' kiss. Inconsistent [Carnal] Christians injure the gospel more than the sneering critic or the infidel.

But, especially for Christ's own sake, imitate His example.

Christian, do you love your Savior? Is His name precious to you? Is His cause dear to you? Would you see the kingdoms of the world become His? Is it your desire that He should be glorified? Are you longing, that souls should be won to Him?

If so, imitate Jesus; be an

"epistle of Christ, known and read of all men."

[a living testimony for all to read].

EVENING May 17

"Thou art My servant; I have chosen thee. " —Isaiah 41:9

—Mi siervo eres tú, te escogí, y no te deseché. —Isaías 41:9

IF [Because] we have received the grace of God in our hearts, its practical effect has been to make us God's servants. We may be unfaithful servants, we certainly are unprofitable ones, but yet, blessed be His name, we are His servants, wearing His livery [uniform],

feeding at His table [eating food that He provides], and obeying His commands.

We were once the servants of sin, but He who made us free has now taken us into His family and taught us obedience to His will. We do not serve our Master perfectly, but we would if we could. As we hear God's voice saying unto us,

"you are My servant,"

we can answer with David,

"I am your servant; you have loosed my bonds [set me free]. "

But the Lord calls us not only His servants, but His chosen ones

—I have chosen you."

We have not chosen Him first, but He has chosen us.

If we be God's servants, we were not always so; to sovereign [all powerful] grace the change must be ascribed. The eye of sovereignty singled us out, and the voice of unchanging grace declared,

"I have loved thee with an everlasting love."

Long before time began or space was created God had written on His heart the names of His elect people, had predestinated them to be conformed to the image of His Son, and ordained them heirs of all the fullness of His love, His grace, and His glory. What comfort is here!

Has the Lord loved us so long, and will He yet cast us away?

[NO, NEVER.]

He knew how stiff-necked [stubborn] we would be; He understood that our hearts were evil, and yet He made the choice. Ah, our Savior is no fickle [unreliable] lover. He does not feel enchanted [fascinated] for a while with some gleams of beauty from His church's eye, and then afterwards cast her off because of her unfaithfulness. No,

He married her in old eternity; and it is written of Jehovah,

"He hates putting away" [divorce].

The eternal choice is a bond on our gratitude and upon His faithfulness that neither [espoused partner] can disown.

What am I doing for Jesus? What trenches am I digging? 0 Lord, make me ready to receive the blessing you are so willing to bestow.

DAILY SPURGEON  and DEVOTION for May 17th  ,  *A.D.  2025

*A.D. did not and does NOT mean “After Death” as many erroneously now think. It actually abbreviates  Anno Domini,  a  Latin phrase adopted into English that literally means  “Year of our Lord”.  It has been used together with B.C. Before Christ   for centuries.

B.C.E  is not a synonym for B.C. (Before Christ)]  It is not the same thing. Not even close.

B.C.E. / C.E  or   B.C. /A.D.  What’s the difference?

B.C.E. (BEFORE COMMON ERA [or  BEFORE CURRENT ERA] ― Anything to avoid all reference or mention of anything CHRISTIAN by atheist and anti-Christians and to remove A.D. [Anno Domini] and  B.C. [Before Christ] from being used.

The argument here, claims to have a neutral point of view that would remove all reference to Jesus Christ by omitting the use of A.D Ano Domini and B.C. Before ChristThis argument brings forward a faulty if not egregious hypothesis.  Without consideration of a person’s religious views analysis of the hypothesis of a neutral point of view (NPOV) must be made.

What is A NEUTRAL point of view?  Such a fool’s errand would argue that a point of view could set forth a valid, genuine, authentic and simultaneously  be neutral. What?  This defies logic. A neutral point of view, were it possible, is no point of view at all. Rather, it’s  illogical and by applying simple common sense, impossible.  Anytime a point of view is combined, confused or blended with another one so that the properties are clouded, weakened or confused the actual definite and certain POV is lost and any rational adherence or support for it is now moot.   A Neutral point of view exists only in  the imagination of those who prefer confusion to a true, authentic, genuine, robust and proven point of a verifiable fact.

A neutral point of view, were it possible, would be, at best,  illogical, unattainable,  indefensible and irresponsible. The king of oxymorons.

Therefore, the mere consideration of an imagined but impossible and unattainable neutral point of view (NPOV) is ludicrous.  A point of view cannot be NEUTRAL. An authentic point of view cannot be neutral, or ambiguous, but must clearly advance a singular, definite and certain  point of view (POV).  It cannot be both a  POV and neutral.   A neutral point of view is a logical impossibility.  A neutral (POV), were it possible, would ignore the historical fact of Jesus Christ’s birth. The pretense of seeking a neutral point of view  is therefore misleading and  disingenuous.

The Lord Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh,
was born of a virgin  2025 years ago.
He’s  alive  today, has always existed as God’s eternal and everlasting Word,
and will soon return for his bride, the Church
[The body of all redeemed believers in Jesus Christ].

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,
believed on in the world, received up into glory.

1 Timothy  3:16

Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: for I am God and there is none else.

Isaiah 45:22

You are invited to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior and Lord and to follow Him in believer’s baptism.

Jesus came from Galilee  to Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist. But, John forbad [refused] Him and said, “I have need to be baptized of You and [yet] you are coming to me?” [for baptism]  And Jesus answering him said, “Suffer it to be so [Do it] now: for thus it becometh us [is beautifully fitting and expected of us] to fulfil all righteousness.”

Baptism is not a requirement for salvation but it is the willing desire of all believers to demonstrate agreement and consistency with  the righteousness of preaching Repentance and Baptism by John the Baptist and obedience to the scriptural teaching.  The issue of baptism is therefore not an issue of salvation but of obedience and of fulfilling all righteousness.

Worshiping Him in Spirit and in truth will spring-up and be manifested in a sense of gratitude.  Such worship can come through prayer, Bible reading, scriptural meditation and study. Fellowship in a local church body, hearing gospel preaching and singing of sacred hymns and spiritual songs are also acts of worship and reflects an active discipleship.

To this purpose, DailySpurgeon,  is offered as a reliable, dependable and effective resource.

It is not intended, were it possible to take the place of fellowship or congregational worship in a local body of believers.

SERMON:  The Metropolitan Tabernacle  (Charles Spurgeon 1834-1892)

The Strategy of Resurrection   John Ch. 20    with Dr. Peter Masters, Pastor

It is clear the resurrection was completely unexpected by the disciples. Here is how it came, first by gentle intimation, then with a caution, then as a proof of Christ's successful atonement, and then as a command to trust in the living Lord.

PRAISE: PLEASE SING Above All  by Lenny LeBlanc  …Be [be being]  filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:18-19

Mission and Invitation

The aim of this work is to save souls, strengthen and encourage believers in the Word, proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ as we serve those in need. We believe the Bible is God’s revealed Word and that through His Word He guides us as individuals and as a local body of believers. We are resolved, God helping us, to study, meditate and pray to rightly divide God’s revealed Word holding it as the final authority in all things.

The purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to make known the Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ to every creature. We aim to love the brethren, win souls, and  build-up of the Body of Christ, [The Universal Church of true believers].  We purpose to publish the Good News of Jesus Christ and to proclaim (preach) HIM everywhere.  We purpose also to serve everyone, especially those in the household of faith..
We believe the Bible is God’s everlasting, inspired (God breathed) Word.  By His Word He guides us individually and corporately through His local Church.
God’s Word [The Bible] is the driving essence of all our work. To this end we annotate and reprint, unabridged, the sermons and publications from The Holy Bible that were preached and taught through the inspired servant Charles Haddad Spurgeon.

The published Headings and Titles selected for inclusion in  Daily Spurgeon are:
Prayers
Anecdotes
Faith’s Checkbook
Morning & Evening

This body of inspired work was created by Spurgeon 1834-1892 and has been widely published and preached to this present time.  He was Pastor and founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle  in London, England (Still flourishing TODAY) Still preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  [Click this blue link to hear live, contemporary and traditional preaching brought by the Internet from broadcasts from Dr. Peter Masters, the current Metropolitan Tabernacle minister for over 30 years].

Prayer: Dear Lord, May this endeavor  be effective and thrive in winning souls,
and may we also be loving and compassionate as we  encourage and comfort  all who
are needy, especially to those who are in the household of faith, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
Disclaimer: These mailing are not intended to attract praise for or exalt  the Lord’s servant, and founding minister of the Metropolitan Tabernacle Charles H. Spurgeon.        Precaution: These devotional messages and prayers are not offered or intended to substitute for walking in the bright sunlight of continual companionship [communion, fellowship] in love with the Lord Jesus Christ [The Messiah]. Neither should they be substituted for reading, meditating on, praying and fasting over God's Word; (KJV, Authorized Version is  recommended) that reveals His unspeakable Love to all the world.   John 3:16
Printed Prayer:  Should not be read or offered as a substitute for personal, fervent, effectual, heart-felt, prayer. It  is intended rather, to touch and warm the hearts of those who presently seek a season of fervent, authentic two-way, heart-to-heart  fellowship and prayer  with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit.
Preaching Preparation:  If you are studying or preparing a message from a specific, Biblical text, Please inform us so that we may  send you a Sermon from Mr. Spurgeon on the message, precept and application most closely aligned.
My Prayer: Dear Father,  Please  touch, lift up, encourage and teach this reader right now .  Bless all who minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May Your blessings and holy anointing fall fresh and continually upon each one who rightly divides and faithfully proclaims Your Word [The Bible] to every living creature. Please save many souls; and be glorified in everything You do In the name of our Redeemer, The Lord Jesus Christ,  Amen

Paul’s gratitude, contentment and blessing recorded in the book of Philippians quotes the principle and practices regarding all contributions to the Publishing Company. We desire fruit that may abound to your account through your generosity:  (vis.)
"For even in  [the]  Thessaloni'ca [jail] ye sent once and again unto my necessity.  Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.  Philippians 4:17. But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received the things which were sent from you, an odor of a sweet smell, Exodus. 29.18 a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God. …But I know that my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:17-19.  Now unto God and our Father  be  glory  for ever and ever. Amen. Salute [Greet]  every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you All the saints salute [Greet]  you, chiefly they that are of  *Caesar’s household. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Philippians 4:23 Amen”

* Not only were new converts won to the truth in Caesar's household, but after their conversion they remained in that household. They did not feel at liberty to abandon their post of duty because their surroundings were no longer congenial. [They were now out of their comfort zone but obliged to steadfastly remain and serve there] The truth had found them there, and there they remained, by their changed life and character testifying to the transforming power of their new found faith in Jesus Christ.  Thank you for your prayers.

Let us make daily use of our riches, and ever repair [return] to Him as to our own Lord in covenant, taking from Him the supply of all we need with as much boldness as men take money from their own purse [wallet].

1 John  Chapter 4

Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everything you hear] but [continually] be testing the spirit whether it is of God: because many false prophets have come out in the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesseth [confesses, says] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come out of God, is of God: and every spirit [voice] that confesseth not [doesn't confess] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Hence, I confess [declare and affirm] "Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh."

THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS by John Bunyan

ORIGINAL: The Pilgrim’s Progress Part I  Published by Logos in 1853 from Bunyan's 1678 text.

REVISED VERSION PRINT: by Barry E. Horner: The Pilgrim’s Progrefs [sic] ©1999

The Pilgrim Progress is the world’s most widely published and most famous  Allegory .  It was commonly found among he scant possessions in the cabins of the early American Pioneers. It was loved and read, second only to the Holy Bible, God’s Word, of guidance, encouragement and comfort. It’s also considered, by some, to be the world’s first English novel and is the most published book of all time. other than the Bible. There were 1,300 editions printed before 1938, 250 years after the author's death. It remains one of the world’s most famous books.  In allegorical genre, it is unequalled.

Pilgrim’s Progress is referenced in many Spurgeon Sermons.

Here's one example:

Christ in you, the hope of glory.”—Colossians 1:27

Note: Spurgeon was taught to read at a very early age and read The Pilgrim’s Progress for the first time when he was six years old. He would return to re-read it over 100 times.  He made many reference to it in his sermons as Pastor of  The Metropolitan Tabernacle in London.

Excerpt from heading II. § 5 THE SWEETNESS OF THIS MYSTERY, WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU

"Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me [Spurgeon] of Mr. Bunyan’s picture in The Pilgrim’s Progress. of [the town of] Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams [ancient weapons of war] had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [melodies], for the king himself was come.

Oh for more of the imperial sovereignty of Jesus; it is our liberty to be absolutely under his sway.

It will bless, strengthen, encourage and instruct pilgrims (readers and seekers) of all ages for a life-time.

Index of the 533 Scripture References cited in The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan  1687

John Bunyan did not write or set forth any world view of any kind. His masterful allegory, demonstrably displays that God's Word does not support a world view at all but sets forth God’s view on every thing revealed and forever settled in heaven, The Holy Bible.

________________________________________

Bunyan merely, yet very ardently trusted in God’s Word; the God-breathed [divinely inspired], Self-authenticating, Providentially-protected immutable, inerrant, infallible, and inextinguishable written Word from GOD Himself. God, the omnipotent, omnipresent, righteous and Holy One, has breathed out His Word and has made His Word flesh in the birth of Jesus Christ. God’s Word is now, has always been and will forever be in perfect accord with Himself and the Spirit of Truth.

God’s infinite Love and Grace to redeem all fallen, hell-bound sinners who will look to Him is revealed by the sacrifice of His only begotten [fathered by God] Son, Jesus Christ.

The story inspiration given to Bunyan was in the form of a dream. Never the less, it imparts wisdom and may encourage soul-searching self-reflection to all pilgrims who seek redemption and eternal life. Many scripture references will  be captured and remembered from its reading [listening].

PRAYER 14, Part 1: BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL!

ANECDOTE 243: The Trouble Within.

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK: PRESENCE OF MIND

-Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken-Proverbs 3:25,26

MORNING: “With His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5

EVENING: “And Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah, took sackcloth, and spread it for her [herself] upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.” -2 Samuel 21:10

A SINNER'S PRAYER

PRAYER 14, Part 1 of 8

BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL! by The Gaither Congregation (Praise the Lord, together with us, won’t you?)

LORD, we are longing to draw near; may Thy Spirit draw us near. We come by the way of Christ our Mediator. We could not approach Thee, O our God, if it were not for Him, but in Him we come boldly to the throne of heavenly grace.

Nor can we come without thanksgiving — thanksgiving from the heart, such as the tongue can never express. Thou hast [have] chosen us from before the foundation of the world, and this well-head [fountain] of mercy sends forth streams of loving-kindness never ceasing. Because we were chosen we have been redeemed with precious blood.

Bless the Lord!

And we have been called by the Holy Spirit out of the world, and we have been led to obey that wondrous call which hath quickened [given new birth to] us and renewed us, and made us the people of God, given us adoption into the Divine Family.

Bless the Lord!.

[I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 243: The Trouble Within.

The wise man saith, [says] “As a bird that wandereth [wanders] from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.” It is not the box that makes the jewel, nor the place that makes the man. “Oh, but anywhere rather than this !” Yes, and when you get into the place you now covet [desire] , you will pine to be back again.

A barren tree is none the better for being transplanted. A blind man may stand at many windows before he will improve his view. If it is difficult to produce good works where you are, you will find it still difficult where you wish to be. He who said that he leaped so many yards at *Rhodes, [Ancient Olympic Games] was asked to do the same feat at home; surely the place could not take away his strength, nor give it to him. Oh, sirs, the real difficulty lies not without you, but within you.

*In ancient times there was a Roman saying: "Hic Rhodus, hic salta!"—

"Rhodes is here, [so] now perform your jump",

an admonition to prove one's idle boasts by deed rather than talk. It comes from an Aesop's fable called "The Boastful Athlete", and was cited by Hegel and Marx. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhodes

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK MARCH 31 PRESENCE OF MIND C.H. Spurgeon 1834—1892

-Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken [captive].

-Proverbs 3:25,26 -No tendras temor de pavor repentino, Ni de la ruina de los impios cuando viniere: Porque Jehova será tu confianza, Y el preservará tu pie de ser preso - Proverbios 3:25,26

When God is abroad [active] in judgments, He would not have His people alarmed. He has not come forth to harm, but to defend the righteous. He would have them manifest [show] courage. We who enjoy the presence of God ought to display presence of mind. Since the Lord Himself may suddenly come, we ought not to be surprised at anything sudden.

Serenity under the rush and roar of unexpected evils is a precious gift of divine love. The Lord would have His chosen display discrimination, [discernment] so that they may see that the desolation of the wicked is not a real calamity to the universe. Sin alone is evil; the punishment which follows thereupon is as a preserving salt to keep society from putrefying.

We should be far more shocked at the sin which deserves hell, than at the hell which comes out of sin. So, too, should the Lord’s people exhibit great quietness of spirit.

Satan and his serpent seed are full of all subtlety; but those who walk with God shall not be taken in their deceitful snares.

Go on, believer in Jesus, and let the Lord be thy confidence.

Prayer: Thank you, Father, that I don’t have to be afraid of sudden fear, nor of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes, For You, Lord shall be my confidence, and shall keep my foot from being captured. Your Peace which is beyond comprehension shall keep my heart and mind through the Lord Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus, I do trust you to save and keep me. I believe you died in my place on the cross for my sins and that You were raised from the dead, victorious over death, sin, and the grave to give eternal life and Your righteousness to all that would believe in You. Thank You, Lord Jesus, Amen.

MORNING March 31

“With His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5

―Por su llaga fuimos nosotros curados. ―Isaías 53:5

PILATE delivered our Lord to the lictors [executioners] to be scourged . The Roman scourge [whip] was a most dreadful instrument of torture. It was made of the sinews of oxen, and sharp bones were intertwisted every here and there among the sinews; so that every time the lash came down these pieces of bone inflicted fearful laceration [cuts], and tore off the flesh from the bone. The Savior was, no doubt, bound to the column, and thus beaten. He had been beaten before; but this of the Roman lictors was probably the most severe of His flagellations [scourgings].

My soul, stand here and weep over his poor stricken body.

Believer in Jesus, can you gaze upon Him without tears, as He stands before you the mirror of agonizing love? He is at once fair as the lily for innocence, and red as the rose with the crimson of His own blood. As we feel the sure and blessed healing which His stripes have wrought in us, does not our heart melt at once with love and grief? If ever we have loved our Lord Jesus, surely we must feel that affection glowing now within our bosoms.

See how the patient Jesus stands,

Insulted in His lowest case!

Sinners have bound the Almighty’s hands,

And spit in their Creator’s face.

With thorns His temples gored and gashed

Send streams of blood from every part;

His back’s with knotted scourges lashed.

But sharper scourges tear His heart.”

We would fain [earnestly want to] go to our chambers [room] and weep; but, since our business calls us away, we will first pray our Beloved to print the image of His bleeding self upon the tablets of our hearts all the day, and at nightfall we will return to commune with Him, and sorrow that our sins should have cost Him so dear. ________________________________________

EVENING March 31

“And Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah, took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.” ―2 Samuel 21:10

―2 Samuel 21:10

IF the love of a woman to her slain sons could make her prolong her mournful vigil for so long a period, shall we weary of considering the sufferings of our blessed Lord? She drove away the birds of prey, and shall not we chase from our meditations those worldly and sinful thoughts which defile both our minds and the sacred themes upon which we are occupied?

Away, ye birds of evil wing! Leave ye the sacrifice alone! She bore the heats of summer, the night dews and the rains, unsheltered and alone. Sleep was chased from her weeping eyes: her heart was too full for slumber. Behold how she loved her children!

Shall Rizpah thus endure, and shall we start [freeze-up] at the first little inconvenience or trial?

Are we such cowards that we cannot bear to suffer with our Lord? She chased away even the wild beasts, with courage unusual in her sex, and will not we be ready to encounter every foe for Jesus’ sake? These her children were slain by other hands than hers, and yet she wept and watched: what ought we to do who have by our sins crucified our Lord?

Our obligations are boundless, our love should be fervent [intensely passionate] and our repentance thorough [all-inclusive].

To watch [stand] with Jesus should be our business, to protect His honor, our occupation, to abide by His cross our solace.

Those ghastly corpses might well have affrighted [frightened] Rizpah, especially by night; but in our Lord, at whose cross-foot [foot of the cross] we are sitting, there is nothing revolting, but everything attractive.

Never was living beauty so enchanting as a dying Savior.

Jesus, we will watch with Thee yet a while, and do [should] Thou graciously unveil Thyself to us; then shall we not sit beneath [be dressed in] sackcloth, but

[we shall sit] in a royal pavilion .

… and pray for souls to be saved and believers to be strengthened.

The Lord … is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9

Pray also that believers will be taught by the Holy Spirit and will rightly divide God’s Holy Word preserved by God, Himself.

John 3:16 God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten [divinely fathered] Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but may be having eternal life.

vis. Textus Receptus [The Received Greek Text] (From the overwhelming majority of extant New Testament Greek manuscripts)

The Incomplete and unsealed codices of Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are not majority texts, [Original Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus]. Sinaiticus and Vaticanus present variant, ambiguous and erroneous readings rather than that of the well-established and settled texts. They disagree often with one another as well as with the settled majority texts. Thus, an attempt to create a pretext that will continue to justify a never-ending demand for additional editions and interpretations. These unsettled differences and bias in certain sectarian doctrine [dogma] have led to the production of multiple “modern” editions with ambiguities, many variant readings and confusion from the explosion of unending, new editions.

Profit-driven publishers have embraced such an economic windfall to sell a continual flow of “new and better” English edition of The Bible. They give too little attention to the fidelity and accuracy already settled [in heaven] in majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the  Greek Textus Receptus.

Psalm 119:89-90

ל Lamed

89 Forever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations:

thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. [abides]

God, Himself, providentially protects and preserves His Word. His Word is the God-breathed, self-authenticating, immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful Word, settled in heaven. He is not the author of confusion.

1 Corinthians 14:33

MISSION STATEMENT:

… Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13

Our solemn aim is to trust and obey the Lord Jesus in everything. We must rely upon God entirely to achieve His purposes in us and through us.

Loving and worshiping God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength in Spirit and in truth is a labor of love and duty of every believer. Desire will grow stronger as we give ourselves to prayer, reading and meditating on God’s Word, gathering ourselves together to hear Gospel preaching, the singing of Psalms, sacred hymns and spiritual songs.

We purpose, with God’s help, to reach the lost, comfort, strengthen and encourage believers, and rightly divide God’s Word to proclaim the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ to every creature.

The Holy Bible is God’s eternal, inerrant, infallible, immutable revealed and divinely preserved Word. It is His completed scripture of all revealed truth. He brings guidance and the knowledge of His will to us personally and to each local body of Christian believers through His Word. With God’s help and empowerment, we will read, study, meditate-on, trust-in and obey God’s Holy Bible and encourage others to do the same. We hold it to be the supreme authority and the preeminent and divinely established precedent [Stare Decisis Latin: to stand by that which is decided, the legal doctrine of precedence, literally "to stand by decided matters"] in all things.

Therefore, the purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to publish the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature. And, to serve all, in love, especially those in the household of faith. We are compelled by this purpose to follow, and rightly apply and proclaim, God’s Holy Word, the Bible, as God’s divinely preserved truth; being the essential authority and goal of this ministry.

The Metropolitan Tabernacle: Home church of Charles H. Spurgeon

The preaching, teaching, soul winning and writings of Charles Haddon Spurgeon are firmly fixed on the bedrock of Holy Scripture. His entire ministry was established, empowered and inspired solely by God’s Holy Word imparted to him by the Holy Spirit. His written works continue to bless, guide, challenge and benefit today’s readers through the publication of his authentic Gospel sermons and other inspired writing His ministry continues to thrive and flourish today through the Metropolitan Tabernacle a church begun in 1650 The present building was constructed in 1861 and was rebuilt after the destruction caused during the second world war. This church has been steadfast in it’s adherence to Reformed Baptist theology that Spurgeon said was just a nickname for Biblical Christianity. They have resisted and continue to reject worldly winds of false doctrine, including pragmatism and self-centered “Christian hedonism”. Biblical Christianity will always show itself as a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, never just a philosophy or religion.

Mission Aim: Spurgeon's sermons and devotional messages have edified the church body and have been a great benefit, to all readers for many years. We pray they will be useful to strengthen personal discipleship in each and every believer and will be a useful instrument in the spreading of the Gospel [Good news] of Jesus Christ, the Messiah to all nations.

MISSION PURPOSE:

Our aim is to trust and obey the Lord Jesus Christ in everything. We rely wholly upon the Holy Spirit to impart God’s divine revelation to us from His Word, the Holy Bible. With God’s help, we will follow Jesus. We expect that lost souls will be saved, believers, comforted, strengthened and encouraged. To God be all the glory.

The Bible is God’s divinely inspired [God breathed] revealed, infinite, eternal, inerrant, infallible, immutable Word to all mankind. This divine, supernatural Word brings all revealed truth to the world. We purpose, therefore, to follow God’s Holy Word, Personal guidance and guidance to the local church comes by His Word.

Hence, we resolve, God helping us, to read, study, meditate-on, trust-in and obey God’s revealed and divinely preserved Word, holding it to be the supreme authority and the only divinely established Stare Decisis [Latin: to stand by that which is decided] in all things.

Therefore, the purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to publish and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature, ministering God’s love to all, especially those in the household of faith. The Bible is God’s everlasting, inspired, (God breathed) inerrant, infallible, unchangeable, divinely protected and preserved Word of love and salvation to the entire world. It is also the essential foundation of this ministry.

History: The inspired preaching, teaching and writing of Charles Haddon Spurgeon is all empowered by God’s revealed Word the Bible. His written publications continue to benefit readers through authentic Gospel preaching and sound biblical teaching. This ministry continues to flourish through The Metropolitan Tabernacle in London

Presented here are Spurgeon's writings for the edification of the church as well as for the benefit, blessing and gospel challenge to all readers. Our desire is that the written Word of God will become the Living Word in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ to each and every reader.

To this end, this website is offered to encourage and provide opportunity to hear Gospel preaching, and to engage in daily devotional meditation, Bible study and prayer. Careful adherence to Spurgeon’s calendar and original, unabridged text is given herein.

Prayer: Dear Lord, empower your ministry to win many souls, and serve those in need, especially those in the household of faith, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not solicit praise of Charles H. Spurgeon or his writing or preaching. He didn’t need or want it then and wouldn’t desire it now. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach Christ Jesus only and him crucified.

Precaution: These Messages and prayers will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus or for gathering in in-person worship. Neither will they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word imparted by the Holy Spirit.

The Authorized King James Version (AKJV), also known as the Authorized Version (AV), is the authentic English Bible because it is rendered [translated into English] accurately and faithfully from the established majority of the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] manuscripts of the New Testament and the Hebrew Masoretic Text of the Old Testament (The Jewish Tanakh)  These manuscripts are providentially protected of God, and always give a greater glory to God when compared to variant readings. The established majority manuscripts avoid doctrinal error, inaccuracies in translation, uninspired editorial notations, variant or ambiguous readings taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus.

The Authorized King James version is distinguished also by the requirement of Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed only by the Cambridge University Press, the Crown’s authorized printer. No other [person or publisher] may print, copy or import the King James Bible into Great Brittan by order of the Crown.

Printed Prayer: Printed prayers must not be read or offered as a substitute for personal, fervent, effectual, heart-felt, prayer. They are offered, rather, to warm the hearts of those who will presently seek a season of fervent, authentic two-way, heart-to-heart fellowship and prayer with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Authentic revelations from God during prayer are always consistent with His revealed Word, the Bible.

Preaching Preparation: When preparing to preach, please send us the text reference that has been chosen if you would like us to send the Spurgeon Sermon addressing the same text.

My Prayer is that You would touch, lift up, encourage and teach all who faithfully minister your Word. Bless all who minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May Your blessing and holy anointing fall fresh upon each dear reader and abide with each one who rightly divides and faithfully proclaims Your Word [The Bible]. Please save many souls; and may all be glory be yours alone. I pray this in the name of our Redeemer, The Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

A SINNER’S PRAYER: … FOR WHOSOEVER:

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved … pray like this, won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am lost. I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross to pay my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity in Hell. My nature and behavior has been sinful from birth. Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m sorry for each and every sin I have ever done and look to You to forgive them all.

I look to You, alone Lord Jesus to save me.

I call on You, Lord Jesus, right now to save me. You died on the cross for me, as God’s sacrifice for my sin.

Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me, I trust You to be my Savior and Lord.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins. I want to follow You from now on.

You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross.

Thank you, Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was born and that You love me still

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is alive and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave.

Thank You for saving me heavenly Father and Holy Spirit for Your comfort and guidance in all things.

With all my heart, thank you Lord Jesus for saving me. In your name, I pray, Amen.

Philippians Chapter 4

1Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

2 I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.

3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellow laborers, whose names are in the book of life.

4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. (sing-along)

5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.

11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth [strengthens] me.

14 Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.

15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odor of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God.

19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

20 Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

21 Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you.

22 All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Cæsar’s household.

23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
