PRAYER 26, Part 7 of 14 PRAYER ANSWERED AND UNANSWERED.

And now, Lord, listen to the voice of Thy children’s cry. Wherever there is a sincere heart seeking for greater holiness, answer Thou that request, or wherever there is a broken spirit seeking for reconciliation with Thyself be pleased to answer it now.

 

Thou knowest [know] where there is prayer, though it be unuttered [unspoken], and even the lips do not move. Oh! hear the publican [the penitent sinner] who dares not lift his eyes to heaven. Hear him while he cries,

 

“God be merciful to me a sinner.”

 

[Thank You for Your mercy to us and the forgiveness of our sin, Lord Jesus, in Your name, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 351: Danger of Pride.

I remember a story told me by a dear brother, who is present with us now. A tradesman who held office in the church asked him for a loan of money. Though rather inconvenient he was about to comply, and would have done so had not some such inducement as this been offered,

 

“You know you may safely advance this money to me, for I am incorruptible. I am not young; I am past temptation.”

 

Thereupon my friend promptly declined, as he did not like the security.

 

[Jesus was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin].

 

The result justified his shrewdness. At that very time the borrower knew he was on the verge of bankruptcy, and ere [before] long, was actually a bankrupt, and yet

he could pretend to say he was above temptation.

 

Above all, avoid those men who think themselves immaculate, and never fear a fall [into sin].

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK JULY 23 ABSOLUTELY NO REMEMBRANCE

According to this gracious covenant the Lord treats His people as if they had never sinned. Practically, He forgets all their trespasses.

 

Sins of all kinds He treats as if they had never been; as if they were quite erased from His memory.

 

O miracle of grace! God here doth [does] that which in certain aspects is impossible to Him. His mercy worketh [works] miracles which far transcend [go beyond] all other miracles.

 

Our God ignores our sin, now that the sacrifice of Jesus has ratified [validated] the covenant [God’s divine promise].

 

We may rejoice in Him without fear that He will be provoked to anger against us because of our iniquities [sins].

See! He puts us among the children; He accepts us as righteous; He takes delight in us as if we were perfectly holy. He even puts us into places of trust; makes us guardians of His honor, trustees of the crown jewels, stewards [overseers] of the gospel.

 

He counts us worthy, and gives us a ministry; this is the highest and most special proof that He does not remember our sins.

Even when we forgive an enemy, we are very slow to trust him; we judge it to be imprudent so to do.

But the Lord forgets our sins, and treats us as if we had never erred [made any mistake].

 

O my soul, what a promise is this! Believe it and be happy.

 

Prayer: Thank You Father, that You don’t remember our sins. Thank You that You see us and treat us as if we had never sinned but now, are perfectly holy in your sight because of the sacrifice Jesus made for me on the cross. I receive this matchless, gift of eternal life in the name of Your only begotten son, Jesus. Amen.

MORNING, July 23

“Even thou wast [were] as one of them.” —Obadiah 1:11

—Tú también eras como uno de ellos.— Abdías 1:11

 

Brotherly kindness was due from Edom to Israel in the time of need, but instead thereof, the men of Esau made common cause [conspired] with Israel’s foes [enemies].

 

Special stress in the sentence before us is laid upon the word “thou”; as when Caesar cried to Brutus,

 

 “and thou Brutus”;

a bad action may be all the worse, because of the person who has committed it.

When we sin, [those] who are the chosen [predestined for heaven] , we sin with an emphasis;

ours is a crying offence, because we are so peculiarly indulged [favored].

 

If an angel should lay his hand upon us when we are doing evil, he need not use any other rebuke than the question,

 

“What thou? What dost thou here?” [You? Here? What are you doing here?]

 

Much forgiven, much delivered, much instructed, much enriched, much blessed, shall we dare to put forth our hand unto evil?

God forbid!

 

A few minutes of confession may be beneficial to thee, gentle reader, this morning. Hast [Have] thou never been as the wicked? [Have you never been sinful?]

 

At an evening party certain men laughed at uncleanness, and the joke was not altogether offensive to thine ear, even thou wast [were] as one of them. When hard things were spoken concerning the ways of God, thou wast [were] bashfully silent; and so, to on-lookers, thou wast [were] as one of them.

 

When worldlings were bartering [haggling] in the market, and driving hard bargains, wast [were] thou not as one of them?

When they were pursuing vanity [self-satisfying, pleasure and gain] with a hunter’s foot [as fast as you could] , wert [were] thou not as greedy for gain as they were?

 

Could any difference be discerned [seen] between thee and them? Is there any difference? Here we come to close quarters. [where the rubber hits the road]

 

Be honest with thine own soul, and make sure that thou art [are] a new creature in Christ Jesus; but when this is sure, walk jealously, lest any should again be able to say,

 

“Even thou wast [were] as one of them.”

 

Thou wouldst not [wouldn’t] desire to share their eternal doom,

why then be like them here?

Come not thou into their secret [Don’t seek to discover their secret], lest [for fear] thou come into their ruin.

Side with [join] the afflicted people of God, and not with those of the world.

EVENING, July 23

“The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth [cleanses] us from all sin.”—1 John 1:7

 

O The Blood of Jesus by Carman and Choir (Sing-along won’t you? This music came to mind from this scripture)

 

“Cleanseth,” [Cleanses] says the text—not “shall cleanse.” There are multitudes who think that as a dying hope they may look forward to pardon.

 

Oh! how infinitely better to have cleansing now than to depend on the bare possibility of forgiveness when I come to die. Some imagine that a sense of pardon is an attainment only obtainable after many years of Christian experience. But, forgiveness of sin is a present thing — a privilege for this day, a joy for this very hour. The moment a sinner trusts Jesus he is fully forgiven.

 

The text, being written in the present tense, also indicates continuance; it was “cleanseth” [clenses] yesterday, it is “cleanseth” [clenses] today, it will be “cleanseth” [clenses] tomorrow: it will be always so with you, Christian, until you cross the river [leave life on earth] ; every hour you may come to this fountain, for it cleanseth [cleanses] still.

 

Notice, likewise, the completeness of the cleansing, “The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth [cleanses] us from all sin” — not only from sin, but “from all sin.”

 

Reader, I cannot tell you the exceeding sweetness of this word, but I pray God the Holy Ghost to give you a taste of it.

 

Manifold [many] are our sins against God. Whether the bill be little or great, the same receipt [of payment] can discharge one as [well as] the other. The blood of Jesus Christ is as blessed and divine a payment for the transgressions of blaspheming Peter as for the shortcomings of loving John; our iniquity [sin] is gone, all gone at once, and all gone forever. Blessed completeness!

What a sweet theme to dwell upon as one gives himself to sleep.

 

                                                      “Sins against a holy God;

   Sins against his righteous laws;

Sins against his love, his blood;

Sins against his name and cause;

                                                 Sins immense as is the sea-

       From them all he cleanseth [clenses] me.”

A SINNER’S PRAYER:   … FOR WHOSOEVER: [For One and all]

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved     … pray like this, won’t you?   

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am hopeless.  I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross for my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned to Hell. I have been  self-centered from birth.  Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m guilty and sorry for each and every sin I have done and look to You to forgive me of them all. 
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You,  Lord Jesus, right now to save me.  You died on the cross for me, because of my sin  and You say,  “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21.

 

Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me,  I trust You, to  be my Lord and Savior from now on.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins.  I ask You to abide in me and give me the desire to always follow You.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross.  Even the sins of the whole world.

Thank you,  Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me even before I was born and that You still love me now. I love You too.
 

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You have called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting  in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. Romans  8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [Holy Ghost, Comforter, Spirit of Truth]
 

Thank You for saving me heavenly Father. With all my heart, thank you Father for saving me in Jesus’ name,  Amen.

Allow us to share the joy of your new birth with heaven. Won’t you? Heaven rejoices over each redeemed sinner. Luke 15:7

In defense of the Masoretic Hebrew of the Old Testament and the GreekTextus Receptus:
 

The Incomplete and unsealed codices of Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are not translated from the majority texts, [Original Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus]. Sinaiticus and Vaticanus present variant, ambiguous and erroneous readings rather than that of the well-established and settled texts. They disagree often with one another as well as with the settled majority texts. Thus, an attempt to create a pretext that will continue to justify a never-ending demand for additional editions and interpretations. These unsettled differences and bias in certain sectarian doctrine [dogma] have led to the production of multiple “modern” editions with ambiguities, many variant readings and confusion from the explosion of unending, new editions.

Profit-driven publishers have embraced such an economic windfall to sell a continual flow of “new and better” English edition of The Bible. They give too little attention to the fidelity and accuracy already settled [in heaven] in majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the  Greek Textus Receptus.

90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations:

God, Himself, providentially protects and preserves His Word. His Word is the God-breathed, self-authenticating, immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful Word, settled in heaven. He is not the author of confusion.

Both of these Greek textual sources follow an assumption that OLDER IS BETTER. Of course, this assumption is not valid if the older manuscripts contain error.

 

The established majority manuscripts and the Textus Receptus avoid doctrinal error, and inaccuracies in translation, uninspired editorial notations, variant or ambiguous readings which taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus.

Copyright: The King James Version is distinguished by the requirement of Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed by the Cambridge University Press, the Crown’s authorized printer. No one other than the Crown’s printer, is allowed print, copy or import the King James Bible into Great Brittan by order of the Crown.

 

In the United States there is no Copyright protection and the KJV  is deemed Public Domain. If a new publication changes at least a 10% of an existing  publication a lucrative Copyright can be granted. Therefore  the NKJV and many other copyrighted translations. Only the King James Version New Testament is unique from among the over 100 English translations that follow modern textual criticism and only the King James is translated from the superior Greek Textus Receptus as its Primary time tested and self-authenticating Greek text Source.

In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:

The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,

thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on a defective text. Those who want to honor the Word of God must not promote the use of any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is entirely  evil in itself, but because being contented to use a weakened version rather than the existing, preserved, without error unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has preserved for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it would be to Him if His people now chose instead to use versions that are  based on  defective Greek manuscript  created by Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Aland.
