PRAYER June 24th 23, Part 6 of 7 THE LOOK OF FAITH

By Jesus’ agony and bloody sweat, by His cross and passion, by His precious death and burial, we beseech [implore] Thee hear us now! We plead with Thee for some that are not pleading for themselves, O Spirit of God, let it not be so any longer. Now sweetly use Thy key to open the fast-closed door, and come into men’s hearts and dwell there that they may live.

We have a thousand things to ask. We should like to [we indeed] plead for our country and for all countries; we should like to [we indeed] plead with Thee for the sick and for the dying, for the poor and for the fatherless. We have innumerable blessings to ask, but somehow they all go away from our prayer just now, and this is our one cry:

Save, Lord, we beseech [implore] Thee, even now send salvation! Come Holy Spirit to open blind eyes and unstop deaf ears and quicken [bring to life] dead hearts.

[Thank You Father for Jesus, the Messiah [Christ] who made salvation possible for all who would believe. I look to You Lord Jesus to save and keep me safe in Your arms I pray, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 322: June 24th A PRAYER-LESS MAN.

You may be a very rich man, and have large estates, but I would sooner occupy the place of the poorest believing pauper in the workhouse [poorhouse for debtors unable to pay their debts] than take your position without God and without a throne of grace.

How do people live that have no God to go to?

If a man were to say to me, “I never get a morsel of bread to eat at all,” I should wonder how he lived. But when a man says, “I never pray, and God never hears me,” I am in equal wonder.

If you have made a mistake, bear the loss of it; but

do not act contrary to the will of the Lord.

The Lord can give you much more than you are likely to lose; and if He does not, will you begin bargaining and chaffering [whining and bartering] with God? The king of Judah has hired an army from idolatrous Israel, and he was commanded to send home the fighting men because the Lord was not with them. He was willing to send away the host [army], only he grudged paying the hundred talents for nothing. Oh for shame! If the Lord will give the victory without the hirelings, surely it was a good bargain to pay their wages and to be rid of them.

Be willing to lose money for conscience’s sake, for peace’s sake, for Christ’s sake.

Rest assured that losses for the Lord are not losses.

Even in this life they are more than recompensed: in some cases the Lord prevents any loss from happening. As to our immortal life,

what we lose for Jesus is invested in Heaven.

Fret not at apparent disaster but listen to the whisper,

-The Lord is able to give thee much more than this.-

Prayer: Thank You Lord Jesus, for the –Much More– that You give to those who obey You. You are able to give much more than any loss we may suffer. Help me to trust and obey You in your Word. Give me a willing heart and an earnest, resolve to follow You. In Your name, Lord Jesus I pray, Amen

MORNING June 24th

IT is fondly imagined by some that to have been the mother of our Lord must have involved very special privileges because they supposed that she had the benefit of looking into His very heart in a way in which we cannot hope to do. There may be an appearance of plausibility in the supposition, but not much.

We do not know that Mary knew more than others; what she did know she did well to lay up in her heart; but she does not appear from anything we read in the Evangelists [Gospels] to have been a better-instructed believer than any other of Christ's disciples.

All that she knew we also may discover. Do you wonder that we should say so? Here is a text to prove it:

"The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him, and He will show them His covenant."

Remember the Master's words—

"Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you."

So blessedly does this Divine Revealer of secrets tell us His heart, that He keeps back nothing that is profitable to us; His own assurance is,

"If it were not so, I would have told you."

Does He not this day [today] manifest [reveal] Himself to us as He does not to the world?

It is even so; and therefore, we will not ignorantly cry out,

"Blessed is the womb that bare thee,"

but we will intelligently bless God that, having heard the Word and kept it, we have first of all as true a communion with the Savior as Mary had,

and in the second place as true an acquaintance with the secrets of His heart as she can be supposed to have obtained.

Happy soul to be thus privileged!

THE narrative of the manly courage and marvelous deliverance of the three holy children, or rather champions, is well calculated to excite in the minds of believers firmness and steadfastness in upholding the truth in the teeth of tyranny and in the very jaws of death.

Let young Christians especially learn from their example, both in matters of faith in religion, and matters of uprightness in business, never to sacrifice their consciences.

Lose all rather than lose your integrity, and when all else is gone, still hold fast a clear conscience as the rarest jewel that can adorn the bosom of a mortal. Be not guided by the will-o'-the-wisp [always changing goal] of policy, but by the pole-star [North Star] of divine authority.

Follow the right at all hazards.

When you see no present advantage,

walk by faith and not by sight.

Do God the honor to trust Him when it comes to matters of loss for the sake of principle. See whether He will be your debtor! See if He does not even in this life prove His word that

" Godliness, with contentment, is great gain,"

and that they who "seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, shall have all these things added unto them."

Should it happen that, in the providence of God, you are a loser by [following your] conscience, you will find that

if the Lord does not pay you back in the silver of earthly prosperity, He will discharge His promise in the gold of spiritual joy.

Remember that a man's life consists not in the abundance of that which he possesses.

To wear a guileless [righteous] spirit, to have a heart void of offense, to have the favor and smile of God, is greater riches than the [gold] mines of Ophir could yield, or the traffic [business] of Tyre [Costal city in Southern Lebanon] could win.

"Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and inward [stressful] contention therewith."

An ounce of heart's-ease is worth a ton of gold.

WHO IS THE GOD OF THE BIBLE?

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF HIS NAME?

(1 One) His Name is INCOMPREHENSIBLE!

Exodus 3:13-15 “13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? 14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. 15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.”

The Critical Text vs. The Traditional Text

So, Dr. Sorenson, “I hear You are King James Only.”

No, I’m Traditional Text only. But if you come to the view and the conviction of being Traditional Text only, you will be Only King James.

The issue is not translational.

Marketing ploys by publishing companies with little basis in reality would have us to believe that the new versions are:

Easier to read.
More modern.
More accurate (Not true)

The truth is that the KJV remains The most popular. (is still the most popularly read Bible in America). Over five billion copies of the King James (1769) is greater than all the other versions and editions combined.

The issue comes down to the textual issue. By That, I refer to the underlying Greek text. I guess we could say texts, plural but particularly that of the New Testament. On the one hand is the Traditional Text from which the only major English translation is the King James Version of the Bible. The Traditional Text.

On the other hand, is the Critical Text sometimes called the eclectic text from whence all the other translations come. And some will say well there really is no difference between them. The difference you could amount to is just the footnotes in the bottom of a page. (This is Not true) He was not dishonest but just repeating what someone had told him.
