TO THE KING ETERNAL,
Thou must be King whatever becomes of us. Thou must be glorified whatever becomes of us. But yet we have to mourn that we cannot always get to feel this rapture and ardour [passion] of love as we should. Oh! at times Thou dost [do] manifest Thyself to us so charmingly that heaven itself could scarce be happier than the world becomes when Thou art [are] with us in it. But when Thou art [are] gone and we are in the dark, oh! give us the love that loves in the dark, that loves when there is no comfortable sense of Thy presence.
Let us not be dependent upon feeling, but may we ever love Thee, so that if Thou didst [did] turn Thy back on us by the year together we would think none the less of Thee, for Thou art [are] unspeakably to be beloved whatsoever Thou doest [do], and if Thou dost [do] give us rough words, yet still we would cling to Thee, and if the rod be used till we tingle again, yet still will we love Thee, for Thou art [are] infinitely to ‘be beloved of’ all men and angels, and Thy Father loved Thee.
Make our hearts to love Thee evermore the same. With all the capacity for love that there is in us, and with all the more, that Thou canst [can] give us, may we love our Lord in spirit and in truth.
Help us, Lord, to conquer sin out of love to Thee. Help some dear strugglers that have been mastered by sin sometimes, and they are struggling against it; give them the victory, Lord, and when the battle gets very sharp, and they are tempted to give way a little, help them to be very firm and very strong, never giving up hope in the Lord Jesus, and resolving that if they perish they will perish at His feet and nowhere else but there.

ANECDOTE 176: Wasted Zeal.
We like to associate with people who have hearts, not dry leather bottles [containers], out of which all the juice has gone; but those who have heart, and soul, and life, and fire, and go [energy]. I love to meet with those who believe in something, and who work under the pressure of their belief, and give their strength to the carrying out of what they believe to be the will of God.
It does seem a very great pity that any zeal should be wasted, and that any one full of zeal should yet miss his way [go in the wrong direction]. We fear that there are some who will do so. If you want to go to York [a town, North of Spurgeon’s home] you may ride very fast south, but you will not get to York with all your speed. Unless you turn your rein [direction of your horses] towards the north, you may ride a thousand horses to death, and never see the gates of the old city.
It is of no use to be zealous if you are zealous in a wrong cause; but when we meet with any who are such, I say that they become peculiarly the object of a Christian’s prayers.
Pray for the zealous with all your hearts, for it is such a pity that one of them should go astray [wrong].

This is a word of truth, gathered from the experience of a man of God, and it is tantamount [equal] to a promise. What the Lord has done, and is doing, He will continue to do while the world stands [exists]. The Lord will receive into His bosom [close to His heart] all who come to Him with a sincere confession of their sin; in fact, He is always on the look-out to discover any that are in trouble because of their faults.
Can we not endorse the language here used? Have we not [haven’t we] sinned, sinned personally so as to say, -I have sinned-?
Sinned willfully, having perverted that which is right? Sinned so as to discover that there is no profit in it, but an eternal loss? Let us, then, go to God with this honest acknowledgment. He asks no more.We can do no less. Let us plead His promise in the name of Jesus. He will deliver us from the pit of hell which yawns for us; He will grant us life and light. Why should we despair? Why should we even doubt?
The Lord does not mock humble souls. He means what He says.
The guilty can be forgiven.
Those who deserve execution can receive free pardon. Lord, we confess, and we pray thee to forgive! [us].
Prayer: Thank you, Father that You look upon me, and if I say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it was of no benefit to me; You will deliver my soul from going into the pit, and my life shall see the light.
I do confess that I have sinned, perverting that which was right and it did me no good. I trust you, Lord Jesus to save, protect and guide me, and everything that pertains to me. Give me dear Lord the blessed assurance of salvation, I ask in the name of Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus, Amen.

The Textus Receptus TR [Received Text] is the faithfully rendered Greek text with strong agreement among the overwhelming majority of the 5,321 extant New Testament, Greek manuscripts known as the MT. [Majority Text].
The Hebrew and Aramaic manuscripts of the Old Testament were meticulously copied by hand and checked by the Masoretic scribes. These are the manuscripts from which the Original 1611 King James version was translated onto English.
In order for Westcott & Hort and Nestle & Aland to have created their new Modern Critical Greek text they selected only 55 from Siniaticus and Vaticanus Texts.
These 55 hand-picked manuscripts from which many variant and inferior readings were brought forth, from their new Greek text were created through highly nuanced readings from Westcott & Hort’s Critical Text theory. Only Fifty-five 55 manuscripts of Sinaiticus and Vaticanus were used to retrofit their newly invented Greek text. These 55 hand-picked and they were not from the primary manuscripts from which the Textus Receptus was rendered but were selected from the inferior Sinaiticus and Vaticanus codices. These fifty-five manuscripts brought variant readings and were created, , to retrofit the creation of alternative Greek text to replace the primary and highly reliable source of the Textus Receptus. Their bias against the Textus Receptus was a spurious, ungrounded and longstanding attack by Westcott & Hort and Nestle & Aland for many years.
Codices Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are inferior because they are in disagreement with the Textus Receptus and incredibly, in disagreement with one another. They give rise to variant readings and embrace secular doctrine bias not supported by scripture translated from the Majority Text or the Textus Receptus. They have been infused by the invented new Greek text when words for a word-for-word correspondence were absent. from the scant Fifty-five hand-picked and highly prejudicial fraction of the 5,321 Majority Text MT manuscripts occurred.
These newly invented Greek texts were not disclosed to the revision committee themselves as the source of these new Greek translations. A code of secrecy was demanded from each member of the Revision Committee. They supplied this new Greek translation to all Committee members with the aim to revise the King James Bible. However, They insisted on a code of secrecy as to the authorship of the Greek Text from which all Revisions were to be based. All members of the committee were required to agree to this code.
Modern textual criticism is based on the assumption that older manuscripts are, de-facto, more accurate. Actually, the continuous and unsettled changes from their variant readings reflect error, doctrinal ambiguities and biases not supported by the Majority Text or Textus Receptus.
Scripture based on The Greek text of Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Aland embrace a secular or denominational doctrine bias or tradition that allows modern textual criticism to rob God of Sovereignty, Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Immutability, Inerrancy and Infallibility due HIM ALONE and to diminish Glory from the infinite and everlasting “I AM” who is WORTHY, who deserves and demands ALL GLORY!

AND can you not do this [can’t you do this]? Are there no mercies you have experienced? Even though you are gloomy [sad] now, can you forget that blessed hour when Jesus met you and said,
“Come unto me” ?
Can you not remember that rapturous moment when He snapped your fetters [shackles], dashed [threw] your chains to the earth [ground], and said,
“I came to break your bonds and set you free”?
Or if the love of your first commitment [to the Lord] is forgotten, there must surely be some precious milestone along the road of life, not quite grown over with moss, that happily reminds you of His mercy toward you? What! Did you never have a sickness like that which you are suffering now, and did he not restore you? Were you never poor before, that did he not [when He didn’t] supply your wants [needs]? Were you never in straits [difficulties] before, that did He not deliver you?
Arise [get up], go to the river of your experience, and pull up a few bulrushes, and plait [weave] them into an ark [boat], in which your infant-faith may float safely on the stream. Forget not [don’t forget] what God has done for you: turn over the book of your remembrance, [remember] and consider the days of old [the past].
Can you not remember the hill Mizar? Did the Lord never meet with you at [Mount] Hermon? Have you never climbed the Delectable Mountains? Have you never been helped in time of need? I know you have. Go back, then, a little way to the choice mercies of yesterday, and though all may be dark now, light up the lamps [lights] of the past, they will glitter through the darkness, and you will trust in the Lord until the day break and the shadows flee away.

WHEN the believer is adopted into the Lord's family, his relationship to old Adam and the law ceases at once. But then he is under a new rule, and a new covenant [divine promise]. Believer, you are God's child; it is your first duty to obey your heavenly Father. A servile [servant’s] spirit you have nothing to do with: you are not a slave, but a child. Because you are a beloved child, you are now bound to obey your Father's faintest wish, the least intimation [suggestion] of His will.
Does He bid you to fulfill a sacred ordinance? It is at your peril that you neglect it, for you will be disobeying your Father. Does He command you to seek the image of Jesus? Is it not your joy to do so? Does Jesus tell you,
"Be ye perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect"?
Then not because the law commands, but because your Savior enjoins, you will labor to be perfect in holiness.
Does He bid his saints to love one another? Do it, not because the law says
"Love thy neighbor,"
but because Jesus says
"If ye love Me, keep My commandments."
This is the commandment that He has given unto you
"that ye love one another."
Are you told to distribute [give] to the poor? Do it, not because charity is a burden that you dare not shirk [resist], but because Jesus teaches,
"Give to him that asks of thee." Does the Word say,
"Love God with all your heart"? Look at the commandment and reply,
"Ah, commandment, Christ hath fulfilled you already. I have no need, therefore, to fulfill you for my salvation, but I rejoice to yield obedience to you because God is my Father now and He has a claim upon me I would not dispute."
May the Holy Ghost make your heart obedient to the constraining power of Christ's love, that your prayer may be,
"Make me to go in the path of Thy commandments; for therein do I delight."
Grace is the mother and nurse of holiness, and not the apologist of [excuse] for sin.

Can You trust this website?

Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everything you hear] but [continually] be testing the spirit whether it is of God: because many false prophets have come out in the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesseth [confesses, says] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come out of God, is of God: and every spirit [voice] that confesseth not [doesn't confess] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Hence, I confess [declare and affirm] "Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh."

God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,
believed on in the world, received up into glory."
Let me invite you to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord and to publicly confess [declare] Him as such before men [publicly]. He will therefore be able to acknowledge and confess you before His Father in Heaven. He is The God of Abraham. Isaac and Jacob. Following your public confession, You also invited to follow Him in believer’s baptism by immersion.
Jesus came from Galilee t o Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist. But, John forbad [refused] Him and said, “I have need to be baptized of You and [yet] you are coming to me?” [for baptism] And Jesus answering him said, “Suffer it to be so [Allow this]: for thus it becometh [is fitting and right for] us to fulfil all righteousness.”
Baptism is not required for salvation. Remember, what Jesus said to the thief on the cross, who acknowledged Jesus’ innocence and said to him:
“Remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
And then, Jesus said to him:
“Verily [Truly] I say to you, Today you shall be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43
Baptism pictures the Lord’s death, burial and resurrection and the believer’s new birth.
It bears witness with John the Baptist who preached that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand and exhorted Repentance from sin and the Baptism of atonement. Therefore, the act of baptism is not required for salvation but it is an act of obedience to fulfil all righteousness.
Romans 6:3-5:
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.

Is this website dailyspurgeon.com trustworthy?
Is it true? Is it of God?
We should apply the following Scripture to everything we hear/read to discern whether what we are hearing or reading is of God and therefore whether or not it should be believed.
1 John 4:1-3 Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [word] you hear but be testing the spirits [words] whether they are of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Here’s how you know if it is the Spirit [voice] of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come from God, is of God: and every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Therefore beloved, we must test every voice [written or spoken] to discern whether it is from God or not. By applying these scripture verses we can determine with certainty if the scriptural standard that protects believers from believing false prophets has been met. We can thereby identify false witnesses and determine not to believe or follow them. The voice [spirit] being tested should not be believed unless it confesses [states] that…
“Jesus Christ is here, in the flesh having come from God .”
Two Greek manuscripts that were cobbled together by Westcott & Hort and Nestle & Aland do not make this confession nor do they follow the Textus Receptus rendered from 5,321 extant Greek manuscripts, which agree overwhelmingly with each other known as as the Majority Text. The 5,321 Majority Text is the source from which the trusted Textus Receptus was rendered.
Instead, these two purveyors of Greek texts used their own Greek translations that they invented by hand picking only 55 of the 5,321extant Greek manuscripts. When these 55 Manuscripts did not contain the text being translated, they inserted their own invented and unfounded Greek text.
Their invented Greek translation presented variant readings different than the Textus Receptus [Received Text] in many places. One example from 1 John, Chapter 4 where all English translations other than the King James version overlook the original Greek verb “ictin” [To be] [is] (third person singular) that is translated in substantially all Majority Texts MT and subsequently in the Textus Receptus [Received Text] and therefore have failed to correctly translate the Greek verb as, “Is come” [Is here]. (correctly Translated from the Textus Receptus [Received Text (TR)] in the King James Version)
This error occurs because the modern critical Greek text, created by Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Alland DO NOT follow the MT [Majority Texts] of 5,321 Greek manuscripts that affirm substantial agreement with one another. The TR [Textus Receptus] is rendered from an overwhelming agreement found among the Majority Text of 5,321 primary Greek manuscript sources.
Both Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Alland ignore the verb “is”, from their invented Greek text and place “has come” instead.
This error may be legally described as res ipsa loquitur a latin phrase that means “the thing speaks for itself”.
Therefore, the Greek inventions generated by these two sources are not actually translations, even though they are introduced as translations, but actually represent their own Greek language inventions unsupported by the reliability of the Majority Texts and the Textus Receptus.
How do we know?
We know because both non-believers and false prophets assert that Jesus Christ
“has come” in the flesh. Practically anyone can make this confession as the birth of Jesus Christ is considered by historians to be the most well documented fact in all of human history.
That He has come is generally acknowledged by nonbelievers and believers alike. However, here’s the point. There is a huge difference in meaning between “Has come” and “Is Here”. “Has come” is woefully short of the essential and clear meaning of the confession “Is Here”.
Just because something “has come” it can not be assumed, inferred or deduced that it also “is here”.
The “has come” assertion is generally held. It is not, per se, a false statement. Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. However, this falls short of presenting a logical rubric to discern whether the sprit [voice] being tested [tried] is from God or from false prophets in the spirit of antichrist.
Again, the expression “has come” rather than “is come” [is here] is not, per se a false statement.
However, it fails to deliver a valid hypothesis, by which spiritual understanding can be discerned. The failure here to establish a logical and rhetorically sound rubric to judge the question of whether spirits [words] are from God or from false prophets and the spirit of antichrist is absent if “has come” is the favored reading.
Actually, “has come” is such a wide-spread belief held to be historically true by all, yet, it does not provide a sound standard to discern whether a spirit [spoken or written words] are from God or the spirit of Antichrist.
Almost anyone [or any spirit] can declare that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. But as you see, this does not resolve the issue of whether something should or should not be believed as true or followed. Why? Once again, because almost anyone can and often does confess that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. But, his is an insufficient standard. The standard must be whether the confession that Jesus is here alone, gives an efficacious standard to discern truth from error.
Again, while it is true that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh, this alone is inadequate to discern truth from error. “Has come” does not mean the same thing as “is come [is here], from God, in the flesh” and therefore fails to be efficacious for true spiritual discernment.
Further, as we compare Scripture with scripture in 1 John 4:1-3 and Ephesians 5:30-32
we comprehend God’s message regarding the body of Jesus Christ being in the Flesh vis-à-vis The Body of Christ, The Corporate Church.

Authorized (King James) Version
30 for we are members of his [Jesus Christ’s] body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
[So, we are flesh and bone members of His body, We are] one flesh with Him, The Body of Christ is (In the flesh); and is the incarnate Body of believers.

When a believer considers the fact that they are members of the body of Christ [The Church] , they will see and acknowledge that…

THE BEST BIBLE TRANSLATION:
Why The KING JAMES is Best by Steven Houck
Even though [some misinformed Bible readers believe] the King James Version has its weaknesses, it is an excellent translation and by far the best version [and the version most in demand today]. We must not be taken in by the modern versions and their claims. Our 400 years old Bible is to be preferred above all others because it is better than them all.
1) It was translated by men who are unsurpassed in their knowledge of Biblical studies.
2) The translators were pious men of God who believed in the inspiration of the Holy Scriptures.
3) It is the mature fruit of generations of English translations as well as the careful work of its translators.
4) The King James Version is based upon the Received Text rather than the critical Greek text of modern versions. [vis. Sinaiticus and Vaticanus.]
5) It is a word-for-word translation which faithfully and accurately reflects the originals [of the Majority Texts, MT].
6) The language is one of reverence and respect which gives honor [and greater glory] to the majesty of its Author.
7) Of all the English versions of today, it alone is the Bible of the Reformation.
8) Our spiritual forefathers thought so highly of it that they were willing to suffer and even die for it.
9) It is the version which has been recognized for generations and generations as the Bible God has given to His English-speaking Church.

10) The KJV is the work of 54 translators selected and organized into seven companies. (2), from Westminster (2), from Cambridge, (2), from Oxford and (1) from London. The work was done openly allowing each company to receive inquiries or comments during the course of the work. When an issue of disagreement arose, it was addressed in Prayer and discussion was continued until the difference was resolved unanimously and without objection.

TO THE KING ETERNAL,
Thou must be King whatever becomes of us. Thou must be glorified whatever becomes of us. But yet we have to mourn that we cannot always get to feel this rapture and ardour [passion] of love as we should. Oh! at times Thou dost [do] manifest Thyself to us so charmingly that heaven itself could scarce be happier than the world becomes when Thou art [are] with us in it. But when Thou art [are] gone and we are in the dark, oh! give us the love that loves in the dark, that loves when there is no comfortable sense of Thy presence.
Let us not be dependent upon feeling, but may we ever love Thee, so that if Thou didst [did] turn Thy back on us by the year together we would think none the less of Thee, for Thou art [are] unspeakably to be beloved whatsoever Thou doest [do], and if Thou dost [do] give us rough words, yet still we would cling to Thee, and if the rod be used till we tingle again, yet still will we love Thee, for Thou art [are] infinitely to ‘be beloved of’ all men and angels, and Thy Father loved Thee.
Make our hearts to love Thee evermore the same. With all the capacity for love that there is in us, and with all the more, that Thou canst [can] give us, may we love our Lord in spirit and in truth.
Help us, Lord, to conquer sin out of love to Thee. Help some dear strugglers that have been mastered by sin sometimes, and they are struggling against it; give them the victory, Lord, and when the battle gets very sharp, and they are tempted to give way a little, help them to be very firm and very strong, never giving up hope in the Lord Jesus, and resolving that if they perish they will perish at His feet and nowhere else but there.

ANECDOTE 176: Wasted Zeal.
We like to associate with people who have hearts, not dry leather bottles [containers], out of which all the juice has gone; but those who have heart, and soul, and life, and fire, and go [energy]. I love to meet with those who believe in something, and who work under the pressure of their belief, and give their strength to the carrying out of what they believe to be the will of God.
It does seem a very great pity that any zeal should be wasted, and that any one full of zeal should yet miss his way [go in the wrong direction]. We fear that there are some who will do so. If you want to go to York [a town, North of Spurgeon’s home] you may ride very fast south, but you will not get to York with all your speed. Unless you turn your rein [direction of your horses] towards the north, you may ride a thousand horses to death, and never see the gates of the old city.
It is of no use to be zealous if you are zealous in a wrong cause; but when we meet with any who are such, I say that they become peculiarly the object of a Christian’s prayers.
Pray for the zealous with all your hearts, for it is such a pity that one of them should go astray [wrong].

This is a word of truth, gathered from the experience of a man of God, and it is tantamount [equal] to a promise. What the Lord has done, and is doing, He will continue to do while the world stands [exists]. The Lord will receive into His bosom [close to His heart] all who come to Him with a sincere confession of their sin; in fact, He is always on the look-out to discover any that are in trouble because of their faults.
Can we not endorse the language here used? Have we not [haven’t we] sinned, sinned personally so as to say, -I have sinned-?
Sinned willfully, having perverted that which is right? Sinned so as to discover that there is no profit in it, but an eternal loss? Let us, then, go to God with this honest acknowledgment. He asks no more.We can do no less. Let us plead His promise in the name of Jesus. He will deliver us from the pit of hell which yawns for us; He will grant us life and light. Why should we despair? Why should we even doubt?
The Lord does not mock humble souls. He means what He says.
The guilty can be forgiven.
Those who deserve execution can receive free pardon. Lord, we confess, and we pray thee to forgive! [us].
Prayer: Thank you, Father that You look upon me, and if I say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it was of no benefit to me; You will deliver my soul from going into the pit, and my life shall see the light.
I do confess that I have sinned, perverting that which was right and it did me no good. I trust you, Lord Jesus to save, protect and guide me, and everything that pertains to me. Give me dear Lord the blessed assurance of salvation, I ask in the name of Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus, Amen.

The Textus Receptus TR [Received Text] is the faithfully rendered Greek text with strong agreement among the overwhelming majority of the 5,321 extant New Testament, Greek manuscripts known as the MT. [Majority Text].
The Hebrew and Aramaic manuscripts of the Old Testament were meticulously copied by hand and checked by the Masoretic scribes. These are the manuscripts from which the Original 1611 King James version was translated onto English.
In order for Westcott & Hort and Nestle & Aland to have created their new Modern Critical Greek text they selected only 55 from Siniaticus and Vaticanus Texts.
These 55 hand-picked manuscripts from which many variant and inferior readings were brought forth, from their new Greek text were created through highly nuanced readings from Westcott & Hort’s Critical Text theory. Only Fifty-five 55 manuscripts of Sinaiticus and Vaticanus were used to retrofit their newly invented Greek text. These 55 hand-picked and they were not from the primary manuscripts from which the Textus Receptus was rendered but were selected from the inferior Sinaiticus and Vaticanus codices. These fifty-five manuscripts brought variant readings and were created, , to retrofit the creation of alternative Greek text to replace the primary and highly reliable source of the Textus Receptus. Their bias against the Textus Receptus was a spurious, ungrounded and longstanding attack by Westcott & Hort and Nestle & Aland for many years.
Codices Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are inferior because they are in disagreement with the Textus Receptus and incredibly, in disagreement with one another. They give rise to variant readings and embrace secular doctrine bias not supported by scripture translated from the Majority Text or the Textus Receptus. They have been infused by the invented new Greek text when words for a word-for-word correspondence were absent. from the scant Fifty-five hand-picked and highly prejudicial fraction of the 5,321 Majority Text MT manuscripts occurred.
These newly invented Greek texts were not disclosed to the revision committee themselves as the source of these new Greek translations. A code of secrecy was demanded from each member of the Revision Committee. They supplied this new Greek translation to all Committee members with the aim to revise the King James Bible. However, They insisted on a code of secrecy as to the authorship of the Greek Text from which all Revisions were to be based. All members of the committee were required to agree to this code.
Modern textual criticism is based on the assumption that older manuscripts are, de-facto, more accurate. Actually, the continuous and unsettled changes from their variant readings reflect error, doctrinal ambiguities and biases not supported by the Majority Text or Textus Receptus.
Scripture based on The Greek text of Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Aland embrace a secular or denominational doctrine bias or tradition that allows modern textual criticism to rob God of Sovereignty, Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Immutability, Inerrancy and Infallibility due HIM ALONE and to diminish Glory from the infinite and everlasting “I AM” who is WORTHY, who deserves and demands ALL GLORY!

AND can you not do this [can’t you do this]? Are there no mercies you have experienced? Even though you are gloomy [sad] now, can you forget that blessed hour when Jesus met you and said,

Can you not remember that rapturous moment when He snapped your fetters [shackles], dashed [threw] your chains to the earth [ground], and said,
“I came to break your bonds and set you free”?
Or if the love of your first commitment [to the Lord] is forgotten, there must surely be some precious milestone along the road of life, not quite grown over with moss, that happily reminds you of His mercy toward you? What! Did you never have a sickness like that which you are suffering now, and did he not restore you? Were you never poor before, that did he not [when He didn’t] supply your wants [needs]? Were you never in straits [difficulties] before, that did He not deliver you?
Arise [get up], go to the river of your experience, and pull up a few bulrushes, and plait [weave] them into an ark [boat], in which your infant-faith may float safely on the stream. Forget not [don’t forget] what God has done for you: turn over the book of your remembrance, [remember] and consider the days of old [the past].
Can you not remember the hill Mizar? Did the Lord never meet with you at [Mount] Hermon? Have you never climbed the Delectable Mountains? Have you never been helped in time of need? I know you have. Go back, then, a little way to the choice mercies of yesterday, and though all may be dark now, light up the lamps [lights] of the past, they will glitter through the darkness, and you will trust in the Lord until the day break and the shadows flee away.

WHEN the believer is adopted into the Lord's family, his relationship to old Adam and the law ceases at once. But then he is under a new rule, and a new covenant [divine promise]. Believer, you are God's child; it is your first duty to obey your heavenly Father. A servile [servant’s] spirit you have nothing to do with: you are not a slave, but a child. Because you are a beloved child, you are now bound to obey your Father's faintest wish, the least intimation [suggestion] of His will.
Does He bid you to fulfill a sacred ordinance? It is at your peril that you neglect it, for you will be disobeying your Father. Does He command you to seek the image of Jesus? Is it not your joy to do so? Does Jesus tell you,
"Be ye perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect"?
Then not because the law commands, but because your Savior enjoins, you will labor to be perfect in holiness.
Does He bid his saints to love one another? Do it, not because the law says
"Love thy neighbor,"
but because Jesus says
"If ye love Me, keep My commandments."
This is the commandment that He has given unto you
"that ye love one another."
Are you told to distribute [give] to the poor? Do it, not because charity is a burden that you dare not shirk [resist], but because Jesus teaches,
"Give to him that asks of thee." Does the Word say,
"Love God with all your heart"? Look at the commandment and reply,
"Ah, commandment, Christ hath fulfilled you already. I have no need, therefore, to fulfill you for my salvation, but I rejoice to yield obedience to you because God is my Father now and He has a claim upon me I would not dispute."
May the Holy Ghost make your heart obedient to the constraining power of Christ's love, that your prayer may be,
"Make me to go in the path of Thy commandments; for therein do I delight."
Grace is the mother and nurse of holiness, and not the apologist of [excuse] for sin.

"Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me [Spurgeon's comment] of Mr. Bunyan’s picture of [the town of] Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [melody] , for the king himself was come. Up to the castle of the heart he rode in triumph, and took his royal throne to be henceforth the sole lord and king of the city.
Christ in you is a right royal word. Christ swaying his scepter from the center of your being over every power and faculty, desire and resolve, bringing every thought into captivity to himself, oh, this is glory begun, and the sure pledge of heaven. Oh for more of the imperial sovereignty of Jesus; it is our liberty to be absolutely under his sway.
