Devotion for August 27th A. D. 2025

Note: The New King James Version NKJV and all other versions that are NOT translated from the Textus Receptus [Received Text] are inferior to the translations of the 1769 [1611] King James Version, KJV and the Geneva Bible. Only these two translations have remained faithful to the traditional Textus Receptus.
Only the Textus Receptus [Received Text] is supported by more than 5,321 Majority Greek Text MT Manuscripts and agree with one another 99% of the time. ALL OTHER readings have as their primary Greek source either Westcott and Hort’s or Nestle and Aland’s, Greek Texts fabricated from only a handful [45] of Majority Text Manuscripts and lack the trustworthiness produced in the inspired 1769 [1611] King James Version, KJV and the Geneva Bibles; the 1only two translated from the reliable, inspired and divinely protected Textus Receptus.

The Bridge to Babylon video presents historical evidence to account for the explosion of over 100 different English version translations of the Bible. The continuing attempts to replace, add or take away from the 1769 King James Version of the Holy Bible can not prevail because GOD Himself preserves and protects His inspired Holy Words
from all heresy, blasphemy, confusion , error additions, subtractions and changes.

Is this website trustworthy?
Is it of God?
Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everyone or everything] you hear but be testing the spirit [voice] whether it is of God: because many false prophets have gone [come] out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses [avows] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come[who came] out of God, is of God: and every spirit that confesses not [doesn’t audibly avow] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
I therefore and hereby confess, out-loud, that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh.
[All translations of the Bible that use a Greek text other than the traditional Textus Receptus translate by ignoring “ictin” (the Greek word for “is”). This omission causes a change in meaning from “is come” [is here] to “has come”.
This error is self-evident due to the fact that non-believers, false prophets and even heretics can, and frequently do, say that He “has come” in the flesh.
While this is true at face value, this meaning does not render a valid test that will discern between the Spirit of God and the spirit of antichrist.
The most well documented fact in all recorded human history is that Jesus. the Christ [Messiah] has come in the flesh. The essential question to be ascertained, however, is not whether the spirit [words or person] being tested confess that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh but, it is of essential importance, to discern whether Jesus Christ, “is here, from God, in the flesh.”
30 for we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Compare, here, scripture with scripture: “I speak concerning Christ and the church.” [the fleshly embodiment, here, of the body of Christ].

Jusus The Mesiah [Christ] has always and Forever existed as the WORD of God. John 1:1-2
He was born of a virgin 2,025 years ago in Bethlehem,
is alive today, and is coming soon for His bride; the Church (the redeemed).
1 Timothy 3:16
Authorized (King James) Version
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
May the Holy Ghost draw you to the Lord Jesus Christ to receive Him as your Savior and LORD and to audibly acknowledge Him as such. He will then acknowledge you to His Father in heaven; The God of Abraham. Isaac and Jacob. You will then also want to follow Him in believer’s baptism.
Jesus came from Galilee to Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist. But, John forbad [refused] Him and said, “I have need to be baptized of You and [yet] you are coming to me?” [for baptism] And Jesus answering him said, “Suffer it to be so [Allow this]: for thus it becometh [is fitting and right for] us to fulfil all righteousness.”
Baptism is not essential for salvation. Remember, Jesus said to the thief on the cross, who acknowledged Jesus’ innocence and said to him. “Remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And Jesus said to him, “Verily [Truly] I say to you, Today you shall be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43
The act of Baptism pictures the Lord’s death and resurrection and by extension through identification with Him, also pictures the believer’s death to self, atonement, and new, born-again life.
Baptism in the preaching of John the Baptist is that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand and that Repentance from sin and the Baptism of atonement is required for salvation and is to be followed to fulfil all righteousness.
We Worship The Lord Jesus Christ (Messiah) in Spirit and in truth in prayer, Bible readings, scriptural meditation, gospel preaching, singing of sacred hymns and songs.
Daily Spurgeon, is dedicated to this purpose. This website is not intended, to take the place of gathering together in-person for fellowship and worship as a local body of believers and followers of Jesus Christ (The Messiah).
“Study to show yourself approved unto God, a worker that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing [accurately comprehending and declaring ] the word of truth.” [God’s immutable, infallible and inerrant Word.
To Be a fully devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ is now my fervent desire. I have trusted and do now believe that he has forgiven me of all my sinHim to save me eternally from sin to eternal life.
I will, with His help, follow Him in soul winning by any instrumentality He may choose inviting and encouraging non-believers to repent , turn away from sin, look to Him and be saved.
We trust that all believers (old and new) will benefit in knowing that He will sustain, guide and build us up as we are being conformed to the image of Christ Jesus by the power of the Holy Ghost.
Daily Spurgeon is a collection of inspired devotional writings, prayers, hymns, sacred literature and encouragement by Charles Haddon Spurgeon, rightly dividing the Gospel [Good News] of JESUS the CHRIST [MESSIAH].

We pray that you will NOW trust in the Lord Jesus, The Christ [Messiah] as your own personal, and only savior and Lord, and worship Him in Spirit and truth.
The aim of this website is to encourage and support believers into greater love of and a stronger devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ. To this end, devotional support is offered through prayer, praise, and gospel preaching of God’s Word.
To the non-believer, we proclaim The Good News that Jesus Saves and pray that they will trust in and publicly confess faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and be born again.
Join in, won’t you? with family, friends and others to pray, hear and heed the gospel of Jesus, and to sing hymns and praises worshiping God in spirit and in truth to God’s glory. Ephesians 5:18-20
As a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ, we encourage one another to:
• Pray with our heavenly Father, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; 1 Thessalonians 5:17
• Be obedient to the eternal, inspired, immutable, inerrant, infallible, revealed and protected Word of God, revealed through Jesus Christ, the living Word; 1 Peter 1:23
• Be [Be being] filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:18-19
• Forsake not the assembling of yourselves together as the manner of some is;
For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
- Jesus Christ Matthew 18:19-20
You are invited to worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob through trust in and obedience to His only begotten Son, God’s Word made flesh, the Lord Jesus Christ, [the Messiah] the Lamb of God and to follow Him in proclaiming God’s Gospel of eternal life to every creature. John 3:16

Is dailyspurgeon.com trustworthy?
There are only three primary Greek texts from which translations are made.
Westcott & Hort and Nestle & Aland created their own Greek text rather than using the traditional Textus Receptus, rendered from the 5,321 extant Greek manuscripts, known as the Majority Text.
Instead, they used their own Greek translations that they created with the use of only a handful [45] Greek manuscripts hand picked from the 5,321 Majority Texts.
Their Greek translation has allowed variant and misguided readings and diminishes honor and glory due only to GOD and is therefore faulty.
Translations other than King James overlook the original Greek verb “ictin” [To be] [is] (third person singular) that is translated in virtually all Majority Texts MT and subsequently in the Textus Receptus [Received Text] therefore they fail to correctly translate the Greek verb as, “Is come” [Is here]. (When it’s ranslated aright from the Received Text (TR) in the King James Version only)
This error occurs because the modern critical Greek text, created by Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Alland DO NOT follow the MT [Majority Texts] of 5,321 Greek manuscripts that affirm substantial majorityagreement with one another. The TR [Textus Receptus] is rendered from this overwhelming body of agreement from Majority Text of primary manuscript sources.
Both Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Aland have omitted the verb “is”, from the Greek text. This error may be described as res ipsa loquitur meaning the thing speaks for itself.
Therefore, the alternate Greek fabrications generated by these two sources are not actually translations at all but their own creations.
How do we know?
Because non-believers and false prophets can indeed, and often do, affirm that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. Practically anyone can make this confession as the birth of Jesus Christ is considered by virtually all respected historians to be the most well documented fact in history. That He has come is generally acknowledged by nonbelievers and believers alike. However, here’s the point. There is a huge difference between “Has come” and “Is Here”. “Has come” falls woefully short of the essential and clear meaning of the confession “Is Here”. Just because something “has come” it can not be assumed, inferred or deduced that it also “is here”.
The “has come” assertion is not surprising nor is it, per se, a false statement. Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. However, this fails to present a Rubric necessary to discern whether the sprit [voice] being tested [tried] is from God or from false prophets in the spirit of antichrist.
Again, the expression “has come” rather than “is come” [is here] is not, per se a false statement.
However, it fails to deliver a valid hypothesis, proffered and inferred in the contextfor scriptural discernment. The failure here to establish a logical and rhetorically sound rubric to judge the question of whether spirits [words] are from God or from false prophets and the spirit of antichrist is absent.
Namely, “has come” is such a wide-spread belief held to be historically true by all, it does not provide a sound standard to discern whether a spirit [spoken or written words] are from God or the spirit of Antichrist.
Almost anyone [or any spirit] can declare that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. But as you can see, this does not resolve the issue of whether something should or should not be believed or followed. Why? Once again, because almost anyone can and often does confess that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. This is an insufficient standard. The standard must be whether the confession that Jesus is here alone, gives an efficacious standard to discern truth from error.
Again, while it is true that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh, this alone is inadequate to discern truth from error. “Has come” does not mean the same thing as “is come [is here], from God, in the flesh” and therefore fails to be efficacious for true spiritual discernment as outlined in 1 John Chapter 4: 1-3.
Furthermore, as we compare Scripture with scripture in 1 John 4:1-3 and Ephesians 5:30-32
we comprehend God’s message regarding the body of Jesus Christ being in the Flesh vis-à-vis The Body of Christ, The Corporate Church.
Compare 1 John 4:1-3 with Ephesians 5:30-32
1 John 4:1-3 Authorized (King James) Version
4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Ephesians 5:30-32
Authorized (King James) Version
30 for we are members of his [Jesus Christ’s] body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery:
but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
[So, we are members of His body, flesh and bone, [we are] one flesh with Him, The Body of Christ is (In the flesh); and is the incarnate Body of believers].
He was born of a virgin 2024 years ago and He lives today.
He’s coming again, for His bride; the Church [Blood-bought, Born-again members of His body].
When a believer considers the fact that they are members of the body of Christ [The Church] , they should acknowledge and readily confess that…
“Jesus Christ is here, from God, in the flesh,” because We are the Body of Christ; The Church, in the flesh! Amen.

SPECIAL SPURGEON SERMON: “Why Men Cannot Believe in Christ” [Christ Jesus]
Note: This Sermon was referenced in the Men’s Bible Study on Wednesday, August 14th 2024 at South Shores Church and is featured here as an unabridged Audio recording of Sermon
# 1245 preached originally by Charles Spurgeon in 1875 from his home church, The Metropolitan Tabernacle, London.
FEATURED SERMON from Spurgeon’s Metropolitan Tabernacle (London)
How [Jesus] Christ Builds Our Faith John 14:1-14 with Dr. Peter Masters, Pastor
The day before Calvary, with the disciples, Christ gives a fourfold remedy for their deficiencies. They must grasp the necessity of faith, the heavenly objective, His pivotal atonement, and His equality with the Father. Only then can they fulfil their commission.

A SINNER’S PRAYER:
PRAYER 5. Part 6 of 6 August 27th TO THE KING ETERNAL
[Heavenly Father, You] answer: “Awake! awake! put on thy [your] strength, O Zion.” [we who trust in You], This we would do, Lord, but we cannot do it unless Thou dost [unless You do] put forth Thy [Your] strength to turn our weakness into might.
Great God, save this nation! O God of heaven and earth, stay [hold back] the, floods of infidelity and of filthiness that roll over this land. Would God [Oh to God! that] we might see better days! Men (people) seem entirely indifferent now. They will not come to hear the Word as once they did.
God of our fathers let Thy [Holy] Spirit work again among the masses. Turn the hearts of the people to the hearing of the Word, and convert [save] them when they hear it. May it be preached with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven. Our hearts are weary for Thee, thou King. [we miss You, King] Thou King [You King] forgotten in thine [Your] own land, Thou King [You King] despised among Thine [Your] own people, when wilt Thou yet be glorious [when will You be great again] before the eyes of all mankind?
Come, we beseech Thee [we implore You] , come quickly, or if Thou comest not [if You don’t come] personally, send forth the Holy Spirit with a greater power than ever that our hearts may leap within us as they see miracles of mercy repeated in our midst [repeated for all to see]
Father, glorify Thy Son. Somehow our prayer always comes to this before we have done [are finished with the prayer].
“Father, glorify Thy Son that Thy Son also may glorify Thee,” and let the days come when He shall see of the travail [labor] of His soul and shall be satisfied. Bless all work done for Thee [for You] , whether it be in the barn or in the cathedral, silently and quietly at the street door, or in the Sunday-school or in the classes [classrooms] , O Lord, bless Thy [Your] work.
Hear also prayers that have been prayed by wives for their husbands, children for their parents, parents for their children. Let the holy service of prayer never cease, and let the intercession be accepted of God, for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.
ANECDOTE 27: August 27th [Jesus] Christ, Best Known in Heaven.
[Jesus] Christ will be best known in eternity. The riches of [Jesus] Christ are not so much to be enjoyed here as there. He will give you by the road and on the way to heaven all your needs; your place of defense shall be the munitions [fortresses] of rocks, your bread shall be given you, and your water shall be sure [always certain]; but it is there, there, THERE, where you shall hear the song of them that triumph, the shout of them that feast.
My dear hearer, if you get [Jesus] Christ, you have obtained riches which you can take with you in the hour of death. The rich man clutched his bags of money, and as he laid them on his heart, he murmured, “They will not do; they will not do; [They’re useless] take them away !” If you receive Jesus into your heart, he will be death’s best antidote [remedy].
When your disembodied spirit quits [leaves] this poor clay carcass [this body], as it must, what will your silver and gold do for you then? What will your farms and your broad acres do for you then? You must leave them all behind. Even if men buy you a coffin of gold, or bury you in a sarcophagus [vault] of marble, yet of what avail [use] will that be?
But oh! if you have [Jesus] Christ, you can fly up to heaven to your treasure, and there you shall be rich to all the in tents of bliss, world without end [forevermore] .
[Amen.]
FAITH’S CHECKBOOK August 27th CHOICE MEN
-I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction- Isaiah 48:10
This has long been the motto fixed before our eye upon the wall of our bedroom, and in many ways, it has also been written on our heart. It is no mean [common] thing to be chosen of God. God’s choice makes chosen men choice men.
Better to be the elect of God than the elect of a whole nation. So eminent is this privilege, that whatever drawback may be joined to it we very joyfully accept it, even as the Jew ate the bitter herbs [horseradish] for the sake of the Paschal [Passover] Lamb. We choose the furnace, since God chooses us in it.
We are chosen as an afflicted people, and not as a prosperous people, chosen not in the palace, but in the furnace. In the furnace beauty is marred [defaced], fashion is destroyed, strength is melted, glory is consumed, and yet here eternal love reveals its secrets, and declares its choice. So has it been in our case.
In times of severest trial God has made to us our calling and election plain, and we have made it sure: then have we chosen the Lord to be our God, and He has shown that we are assuredly His chosen. Therefore, if today the furnace be heated seven times hotter, we will not dread it, for the glorious Son of God will walk with us amid the glowing [red hot] coals.
Prayer: Thank You Father that You have chosen me in the furnace of affliction. To be chosen by you is more than equal to any affliction. In the furnace, eternal love reveals its secrets and declares its choice. In Jesus name, Amen.
MORNING August 27th
"How long will it be ere [before] they believe me? "—Numbers 14:11
STRIVE with all diligence to keep out that monster unbelief. It so dishonors Christ that He will withdraw His visible presence if we insult Him by indulging in it [unbelief].
It is a true weed, the seeds of which we can never entirely extract from the soil, but we must aim at its root with zeal [enthusiasm] and perseverance
[tenacity].
Among hateful things it is the most to be abhorred [hated] . Its injurious nature is so venomous [poisonous] that he who exercises it and he on whom it is exercised are both hurt thereby. In your case, 0 believer, it is most wicked, for the mercies of the Lord in the past, increase your guilt in doubting Him now. When you do distrust the Lord Jesus, He may well cry out, "Behold I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves [a heavy load]."
This is crowning His head with thorns of the sharpest kind. It is very cruel for a well-beloved wife to mistrust a kind and faithful husband. The sin is needless, foolish, and unwarranted. Jesus has never given the slightest ground for suspicion, and it is hard to be doubted by those to whom our conduct is uniformly affectionate and true.
Jesus is the Son of the Highest, and has unbounded wealth; it is shameful to doubt Omnipotence [all-powerful, infinite, sovereign power] and distrust all-sufficiency.
The cattle on a thousand hills will suffice for our most hungry feeding, and the granaries of heaven are not likely to be emptied by our eating. If [Jesus] Christ were only a cistern [water tank], we might soon exhaust His fullness, but who can drain [empty] an [ever-flowing] fountain? Myriads of spirits [followers] have drawn their supplies from Him, and not one of them has murmured at the scantiness of His resources.
Away, then, with this lying traitor unbelief, for his only errand is to cut the bonds of communion [fellowship] and [try to] make us mourn [the falsehood that our Savior is absent].
[John] Bunyan [author of Pilgrim’s Progress, the worlds most famous allegory] tells us that unbelief has "as many lives as a cat." If so, let us kill one life now, and continue the work till the whole [all] nine are gone. Down with traitorous un-belief; my heart abhors [hates] it.
EVENING August 27th
"Into Thine hand I commit my spirit: Thou hast redeemed me, 0 LORD God of truth. "—Psalm 31:5
THESE words have been frequently used by holy men in their hour of departure . We may profitably consider them this evening. The object of the faithful man's solicitude [request] in life and death is not his body or his estate [wealth], but his spirit; this is his choice treasure and if this be safe, all is well. What is this mortal state compared with the [eternal] soul?
The believer commits his soul to the hand of his God; it came from him, it is his own, he has aforetime [before hand] sustained it, he is able to keep it, and it is most fit that he should receive it. All things are safe in Jehovah's hands; what we entrust to the Lord will be secure, both now and in that day of days towards which we are hastening [hurrying] .
It is peaceful living, and glorious dying, to repose [rest] in the care of heaven. At all times we should commit our all to Jesus' faithful hand; then, though life may hang on a thread, and adversities may multiply as the sands of the sea, our soul shall dwell at ease, and delight itself in quiet resting places.
“Thou hast redeemed me, 0 Lord God of truth”
Redemption is a solid basis for confidence. David had not [couldn’t have] known Calvary as we have, but temporal [short-term] redemption cheered him; shall not eternal redemption yet more sweetly console [comfort] us?
Past deliverances are strong pleas for present assistance. What the Lord has done He will do again, for He changes not. He is faithful to His promises, and gracious to His saints [followers]. He will not turn away from His people.
Though Thou slay me I will trust,
Praise Thee even from the dust,
Prove, and tell it as I prove,
Thine unutterable love.
Thou mayst chasten and correct,
But Thou never canst neglect;
Since the ransom price is paid,
On Thy love my hope is stay'd.
[fixed and securely kept]
MISSION PURPOSE:
Our aim is to trust and obey the Lord Jesus Christ as fully devoted followers in everything. We rely wholly upon the Holy Spirit to impart God’s divine revelation to us from His Word, the Holy Bible. With God’s help, we will follow Jesus. We expect that lost souls will be saved, believers, comforted, strengthened and encouraged. To God be all the glory.
The Bible is God’s divinely inspired [God breathed] revealed, infinite, eternal, inerrant, infallible, immutable Word to all mankind. This divine, supernatural Word brings all revealed truth to the world. We purpose, therefore, to follow God’s Holy Word, Personal guidance and guidance to the local church comes by His Word.
Hence, we resolve, God helping us, to read, study, meditate-on, trust-in and obey God’s revealed and divinely preserved Word, holding it to be the supreme authority and the only divinely established Stare Decisis [Latin: to stand by that which is decided] in all things.
Therefore, the purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to publish and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature, ministering God’s love to all, especially those in the household of faith. The Bible is God’s everlasting, inspired, (God breathed) inerrant, infallible, unchangeable, divinely protected and preserved Word of love and salvation to the entire world. It is also the essential foundation of this ministry.
History: The inspired preaching, teaching and writing of Charles Haddon Spurgeon is empowered by God’s revealed Word the Bible. His written publications continue to benefit readers through authentic Gospel preaching and sound biblical teaching. This ministry continues to flourish from (Spurgeon’s) Metropolitan Tabernacle, (Brief History) a church fellowship that was begun in 1650. The building was constructed by members of the congregation in 1861.
We present Spurgeon's printed materials for the edification of the church body as well as for the benefit, blessing and gospel challenge to all readers. Our desire is that the written Word of God will become the Living Word in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ to each and every reader.
To this end, DailySpurgeon.com is offered to encourage and provide opportunity to hear Gospel preaching, and to engage in daily devotional meditation, Bible study and prayer. Careful adherence to Spurgeon’s calendar and original, unabridged text is given herein.

No servant of God has left a greater legacy of presenting the Gospel to the world in the English language. (Now translated into many other languages) Spurgeon is widely read with great benefit. He is a beloved pastor and founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England, still thriving TODAY. You’re invited to Live-stream worship services from London with Dr. Peter Masters, current pastor since 1960.
Prayer: Dear Lord, empower your ministry to win many souls, and serve those in need, especially those in the household of faith, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not solicit praise of Charles H. Spurgeon or his writing or preaching. He didn’t need or want it then and wouldn’t desire it now. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM only and him crucified.
Precaution: These Messages and prayers will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus nor gathering for corporate worship. Neither do they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word.
The Authorized King James version (AKJV), also known as the Authorized Version (AV), is the preferred English Bible because it is rendered [translated into English] accurately and faithfully from the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text that bring the greatest glory to God and thereby avoids doctrinal error, inaccuracies in translation, editorial changes or ambiguous readings found in other translations. It is distinguished further by the requirement in Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed only by the Cambridge University Press, the Crown’s authorized printer. No other [person or publisher] may print, copy or import the King James Bible into Great Brittan; by order of the Crown.
Printed Prayer: Printed prayers must not be read or offered as a substitute for personal, fervent, effectual, heart-felt, prayer. They are offered, rather, to warm the hearts of those who will presently seek a season of fervent, authentic two-way, heart-to-heart fellowship and prayer with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Authentic revelations from God during prayer are always consistent with His revealed Word, the Bible.
Preaching Preparation: When preparing to preach from a specific, scriptural text, please enter the text reference if you would like us to send you a Spurgeon Sermon from the same text.
My Prayer: Dear Father, is that You would touch, lift up, encourage and teach all who faithfully minister your Word. Bless all who minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May Your blessing and holy anointing fall fresh upon each dear reader and abide with each one who rightly divides and faithfully proclaims Your Word [The Bible]. Please save many souls; and may all be glory be yours alone. I pray this in the name of our Redeemer, The Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

A SINNER’S PRAYER: … FOR WHOSOEVER:
Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved … pray like this, won’t you?
“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am hopeless. I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross to pay my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned in Hell. My nature has been self centeredness from birth. Please forgive me.
I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m sorry for each and every sin I have done and look to You to forgive me of them all.
I look to You, alone Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You, Lord Jesus, right now to save me. You died on the cross for me, and because of my sin.
Yet You say, “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21.
Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me, I trust that You, will be my Lord and Savior from now on.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins. I ask You to keep in me always the desire to follow You.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross. Even the sins of the whole world.
Thank you, Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me even before I was born and that You still love me now. I love You too.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus.
Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. And, there is therefore now no condemnation in Christ Jesus.
Thank You for saving me heavenly Father and Holy Spirit for comfort and guidance revealing all truth,
With all my heart, thank you Lord Jesus for saving me. In your name, I pray, Amen.
Please allow us to share the joy of your new birth with heaven. Heaven rejoices over each redeemed sinner. Luke 15:7

SACRED LITERATURE:
THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS by John Bunyan is the most famous Allegory, world-wide and the Most widely Published Book of all time and was printed in over 200 Languages. It has NEVER, since 1698, been out-of-print.
Only The King James Bible was more widely published than The Pilgrim’s Progress.
ONLINE PRINT LIBRARY: (No Enrollment Fee or Registration required)
BUNYAN’S ORIGINAL of 1678: The Pilgrim’s Progress Published in 1853 by Logos
REVISED VERSION: The Pilgrim’s Progrefs [sic] 1999 by Barry E. Horner
OLD ENGLISH PRINT: The Pilgrim’s Progress Part II AKA Christiana
(Christian’s wife, Christiana and children; their dangerous journey, and safe arrival at the desired country.)
Pilgrim Progress is the world’s most famous Allegory, It and the Bible were commonly the only books to be found in the cabin of early American Settlers and were loved and read more than any book, second only to the Holy Bible. It’s also considered, by some, as being the world’s first English novel. It’s likely the most published book other than the Bible of all time. There were 1,300 editions printed before 1938, 250 years after the Bunyan’s death. Hence, the world’s most famous Allegory.
Comment on Pilgrim’s Progress by Charles H. Spurgeon from the Spurgeon Sermon
“Christ in You”.
Spurgeon: Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me of Mr. Bunyan’s picture of [the town of] Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [happy melodies] , for the king himself was come. Up to the castle of the heart [main castle] he rode in triumph, and took his royal throne to be henceforth the sole lord and king of the city.
Christ in you is a right royal word. Christ swaying his scepter from the center of your being over every power and faculty, desire and resolve, bringing every thought into captivity to himself, Oh, this is glory begun, and the sure pledge of heaven. Oh, for more of the imperial sovereignty of Jesus, The Messiah; our liberty to be absolutely under his sway.
Spurgeon Sermon: Christ in You, Preached May 13, 1883 Scripture: Colossians 1:27 From: Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit, Volume 29 (cit. II. THE SWEETNESS OF THIS MYSTERY, WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU, § 5)

PRAYER 5. Part 6 of 6
TO THE KING ETERNAL
[Heavenly Father, You] answer: “Awake! awake! put on thy [your] strength, O Zion.” [we who trust in You], This we would do, Lord, but we cannot do it unless Thou dost [unless You] put forth Thy [Your] strength to turn our weakness into might.
May it be preached with the Holy Ghost [Holy Spirit] sent down from heaven. Our hearts are weary for Thee, thou King. [we miss You, King] Thou King [You King] forgotten in thine [Your] own land, Thou King [who is ] despised among Thine own people, when wilt Thou yet be glorious [when will You be great again] before the eyes of all mankind?
Come, we beseech Thee [we beg You] , come quickly, or if Thou comest not [if You don’t come] personally, send forth the Holy Spirit with a greater power than ever that our hearts may leap within us as they see miracles of mercy repeated in our midst [repeated for all to see]
Father, glorify Thy Son. Somehow our prayer always comes to this before we have done [are finished].
Hear also prayers that have been put up by wives for their husbands, children for their parents, parents for their children. Let the holy service of prayer never cease, and let the intercession be accepted of God, for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen. [In the name of the Lord Jesus, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 27: [Jesus] Christ, Best Known in Heaven.
When your disembodied spirit quits [leaves] this poor clay carcass [our body], as it must, what will your silver and gold do for you then? What will your farms and your broad acres do for you then? You must leave them all behind. Even if men buy you a coffin of gold, or bury you in a sarcophagus [vault] of marble, yet of what avail will that be?
But oh! if you have [Jesus] Christ, you can fly up to heaven to your treasure, and there you shall be rich to all the in tents of bliss, world without end [forevermore] .
[Amen.]

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK August 27 CHOICE MEN
-I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction- Isaiah 48:10
In the furnace beauty is marred [removed], fashion is destroyed, strength is melted, glory is consumed, and yet here eternal love reveals its secrets, and declares its choice. So has it been in our case.
In times of severest trial God has made to us our calling and election plain, and we have made it sure: then have we chosen the Lord to be our God, and He has shown that we are assuredly His chosen. Therefore, if today the furnace be heated seven times hotter, we will not dread it, for the glorious Son of God will walk with us amid the glowing coals.
Prayer: Thank You Father that You have chosen me in the furnace of affliction. To be chosen by you is more than equal to any affliction. In the furnace, eternal love reveals its secrets and declares its choice. In Jesus name, Amen.

MORNING August 27
"How long will it be ere [before] they believe me? "—Numbers 14:11
STRIVE with all diligence to keep out that monster unbelief. It so dishonors Christ that He will withdraw His visible presence if we insult Him by indulging it. It is a true weed, the seeds of which we can never entirely extract from the soil, but we must aim at its root with zeal [enthusiasm] and perseverance.
If [Jesus] Christ were only a cistern [water tank], we might soon exhaust His fullness, but who can drain [empty] a fountain? Myriads of spirits [believers] have drawn their supplies from Him, and not one of them has murmured at the scantiness of His resources.
Away, then, with this lying traitor unbelief, for his only errand is to cut the bonds of communion [fellowship] and [try to] make us mourn an absent Savior.

EVENING August 27
Redemption is a solid basis for confidence. David had not [couldn’t have] known Calvary as we have, but temporal [short-term] redemption cheered him;
shall not eternal redemption yet more sweetly console [comfort] us?
Past deliverances are strong pleas for present assistance. What the Lord has done He will do again, for He changes not. He is faithful to His promises, and gracious to His saints [followers] ; He will not turn away from His people.
Though Thou slay me I will trust,
Praise Thee even from the dust,
Prove, and tell it as I prove,
Thine unutterable love.
Thou mayst chasten and correct,
But Thou never canst neglect;
Since the ransom price is paid,
On Thy love my hope is stay'd.
[fixed and securely kept]

A SINNER’S PRAYER
TODAY’S DEVOTION:
PRAYER 5, Part 5 of 6
TO THE KING ETERNAL
Lord, raise up in our churches many men and women that are all on fire with love to Christ and His Divine Gospel. Oh! give us back again men like Antipas, Thy faithful martyr, men like Paul, Thy earnest servant who proclaimed Thy truth so boldly. Give us Johns, men to whom the Spirit may speak, who shall bid us hear what the Spirit saith [says] unto the churches. Lord, revive us! Lord, revive us; revive Thy work in the midst of the years in all the churches. Return unto the Church of God in this country, return unto her. Thine [Your] adversaries think to have it all their own way, but they will not, for the Lord liveth, [lives] and blessed be our Rock [The Lord Jesus].
Because of truth and righteousness, we beseech Thee [earnestly ask You] lay bare Thine arm [roll up your sleeves] in these last days. O Shepherd of Israel, deal a heavy blow at the wolves and keep Thy sheep in their own true pastures, free from the poisonous pastures of error. O God, we would [desire to] stir Thee up. We know, Thou sleepest not [You never sleep] , and yet sometimes it seems as if Thou didst [You did] sleep awhile and leave things to go on in their own way. [I pray for your fresh touch to empower church workers and leaders for your harvest in Jesus’ name, Amen.]
ANECDOTE 26: The Secret of Finding Blessing.
Do you remember the story of Mr. Erskine and the good lady who went to hear him preach at the communion? It was such sweet preaching, she thought she had never heard the like. So, after service, she asked, Who the gentleman was that preached to-day; and, on being told that it was Mr. Ebenezer Erskine, she said,
“ I will come and hear him again next Sunday morning.” She went, she listened, and she thought to herself, “Well, this is very dry, very heavy preaching.” She was not at all comforted by it; then, like a foolish woman, as I should think she must have been, she went into the vestry, and said, “ Oh, Mr. Erskine, I heard you last Sabbath with much pleasure, sir; I never was so edified; and I came again this morning, but I have been dreadfully disappointed.” So the good man said, very calmly, “Pray, madam, when you came to the kirk [church] last Sunday, what did you come for?” She said, “I came to communion, sir.” [He asked], “To have fellowship with Christ, I suppose ?” “Yes, sir.” [she replied] “Well, you came for it, and you had it.
And pray, what did you come here this morning for?” [He asked] Said she, “I came to hear you, sir.” “And, you had it,” said he, “you had it, and you had not anything more than that.” [You came to hear me and you heard me -You got what you came for]
Well, now, when people come merely to hear a minister, or for custom’s sake [from habit] , or for form’s sake, [doing what is expected] do they not always get what they come for? If people come to find fault, we always give them plenty of our imperfections to be entertained with, so they need not be disappointed. If others come merely out of custom, [habit] they say, “ Well, this is my work, I have performed my duty.” Of course, it is, but if you had come in through the door that is, looking to Christ, looking for Christ, desiring not to see the preacher but the Lord, not to get the word of man but the Word of God, to your soul I believe you would have found pasture [nourishment]. Brethren, the sheep want pasture. No other food will suit them. So your soul wants heavenly truth, and if you come to the house of God through Christ, you will get it. If you turn to the Bible through Christ, you will find it a rich storehouse. If you come to prayer through the door of Christ, you will find it comforting, and so you shall find pasture.
FAITH’S CHECKBOOK AUGUST 26 HE OF TENDER CONSCIENCE
-I will judge between cattle and cattle —Ezekiel 34:22
- Juzgare entre oveja y oveja- Ezequiel 34:22
Some are fat and flourishing, and therefore they are unkind to the feeble [weaker cattle]. This is a grievous [regrettable] sin, and causes much sorrow. Those thrustings [from bullies] with side and with shoulder, those pushings of the diseased [sick cattle] with the horn, are a sad means of offense [are detestible] in the assemblies of professing believers.
The Lord takes note of these proud and unkind deeds, and He is greatly angered by them, for He loves the weak.
Is the reader one of the despised? Is he a mourner in Zion, and a marked man because of his tender conscience? Do his brethren judge him harshly? Let him not resent their conduct; above all let him not push [back] and thrust [lash out] in return. Let him leave the matter in the Lord’s hands. He is the Judge. Why should we wish to intrude upon His office? He will decide much more righteously than we can. His time for judgment is the best, and we need not be in a hurry to hasten it on. Let the hard-hearted oppressor tremble. Even though he may ride roughshod over others with impunity [without blame] for the present, all his proud speeches are noted, and for every one of them account must be given before the bar of the Great Judge.
Patience, my soul! Patience! The Lord knoweth thy [knows your] grief. Thy [Your Lord] Jesus hath [has] pity upon thee [you]!
Prayer: Thank You Father for your righteous judgment. Thank you that mercy begets mercy and that Your mercy toward the weak is abundant. May bullies repent. In Jesus name, Amen.
MORNING August 26
"He [The Lord] hath commanded His covenant [sacred promise] forever. "—Psalm 111:9
— Para siempre [Jehová] ha ordenado su pacto— Salmos 111:9
THE Lord's people delight in the covenant [God’s divine promise] itself. It is an unfailing source of consolation [comfort and encouragement] to them so often as the Holy Spirit leads them into its banqueting house and waves [is under] its banner of love. They delight to contemplate the antiquity [age] of that covenant, remembering that before the daystar [sun] knew its place, or planets ran their orbit, the interests of the saints were made secure in Christ Jesus. It is peculiarly pleasing to them to remember the sureness of the covenant, while meditating on "the sure mercies of David." They delight to celebrate it as "signed, sealed, and ratified; in all things ordered well." It often makes their hearts dilate with joy to think of its immutability [unchangeableness] as a covenant that neither time nor eternity, life nor death, will ever be able to violate [change] —a covenant as old as eternity and as everlasting as the Rock of ages.
They rejoice also to feast upon the fullness of this covenant, for they see in it all things provided for them. God is their portion [part], Christ their companion, the Spirit their Comforter, earth their lodge, and heaven their home. They see in it an inheritance reserved and entailed to every soul possessing an interest in its ancient and eternal deed of gift [certificate of ownership]. Their eyes sparkled when they saw it as a treasure-trove in the Bible; but oh! how their souls were gladdened when they saw in the last will and testament of their divine kinsman that it was bequeathed [willed] to them!
More especially it is the pleasure of God's people to contemplate the graciousness of this covenant. They see that the law was made void because it was a covenant of works and depended on merit, but this [God’s covenant] they perceive to be enduring because grace is the basis, grace [is] the condition, grace [is] the strain [descendants of a common ancestor], grace [is] the bulwark [bunker against danger], grace [is] the foundation, grace [is] the topstone [keystone].
The covenant is a treasury of wealth, a granary of food, a fountain of life, a storehouse of salvation, a charter of peace, and a haven of joy.
EVENING August 26
"The people, when they beheld Him, were greatly amazed, and running to Him saluted [greeted] Him. " —Mark9:15—Y luego toda la gente, viéndole, se espantó, y corriendo á él, le saludaron. —Marcos 9:15
HOW great the difference between Moses and Jesus! When the prophet of Horeb [Moses] had been forty days upon the mountain, he underwent a kind of transfiguration so that his countenance shone with exceeding brightness and he put a veil over his face, for the people could not endure to look upon his glory. Not so our Savior. He had been transfigured with a greater glory than that of Moses, and yet, it is not written that the people were blinded by the blaze of His countenance, but rather they were amazed, and running to Him they saluted [greeted] Him.
The glory of the law repels, but the greater glory of Jesus attracts. Though Jesus is holy and just, yet blended with His purity there is so much of truth and grace that sinners run to Him amazed at His good ness, fascinated by ; His love they salute [greet] Him, become His disciples, and take Him to be their Lord and Master.
The Love of God by Gaither Choir Trio (Click or Tap for audio. Sing-along won’t you
Reader, it may be that just now you are blinded by the dazzling brightness of the law of God. You feel its claims on your conscience, but you cannot keep [obey] it in your life. Not that you find fault with the law, on the contrary, it commands your profoundest esteem, still you are in nowise drawn by it to God; you are rather hardened in heart, and are verging towards desperation. Ah, poor heart!
Turn your eye from Moses, with all his repelling splendor, and look to Jesus, resplendent with milder glories. Behold His flowing wounds and thorn-crowned head! He is the Son of God, and therein He is greater than Moses, but He is the Lord of love, and therein more tender than the lawgiver. He bore the wrath of God, and in His death revealed more of God's justice than Sinai on a blaze [the burning bush of Moses], but that justice is now vindicated, and henceforth it is the guardian of believers in Jesus [Christ].
Sinner look to the bleeding Savior, and as you feel the at traction of His love, fly to His arms, and you will be saved.
A SINNER’S PRAYER
Whosoever shall call on the name of the lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Pray and call on the name of the Lord Jesus, like this. Won’t you?
“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and hopeless to save myself. Without you and your blood that was shed for me and Your death on the cross I would spend eternity in Hell’s fire.
Thank you Lord Jesus that You love me and died for me before I was born and that You have always loved me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father but by You.
Thank you, Father that You have caused for me to see myself as I am; a lost sinner. But, because of Your love and goodness, You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in You, Lord Jesus. You took my place on the cross and provided the way for me to be forgiven. Thank You.
Thank You that You prompted a desire in me to believe in You, the only begotten Son of God who died on the cross to be the sacrifice that would atone for my sins.
Thank You, Father for Your love that allowed Jesus to suffer and die in my place. Thank You that You raised Jesus from the dead. He is RISEN and is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus I am free.
You raised Jesus from the dead, gave Him a Glorified body and after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with You in heaven.
Thank you, Father, for saving me in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Romans 6:11
Thank you, Holy Spirit, that you always give witness to and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ.
John 16:8-11
With all my heart, thank you Lord for saving me.
Live Your life in me, Lord Jesus, in Your name I pray, Amen.

MISSION STATEMENT
Our solemn aim is to trust and obey the Lord Jesus in everything. This relies completely upon God to achieve His purpose for us through His means. We purpose, with God’s empowerment and help, to save the lost, comfort, strengthen and encourage believers, and rightly divide God’s Word to proclaim the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ to every creature.
The Holy Bible is God’s eternal, inerrant, infallible, immutable revealed and divinely preserved Word. It is His supernatural, complete scripture of all revealed truth. He brings guidance through it to us personally and to each local body of Christian believers. With God’s empowerment, we will read, study, meditate-on, trust-in and obey God’s Holy Bible and encourage others to do the same. We hold it to be the supreme authority and the preeminent and divinely established Stare Decisis [Latin: to stand by that which is decided, the legal principle of precedence, literally "to stand by decided matters"] in all things.
Therefore, the purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to publish the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature. And, to serve all, in love, especially those in the household of faith. This purpose compels us to follow, and rightly present, God’s Holy Word, the Bible as God’s divinely preserved truth; the foundation of this ministry.
Tabernacle History:
The inspired preaching, teaching, soul winning and writings of Charles Haddon Spurgeon were solely based, empowered and inspired by God’s Holy Word the Bible. His written sermons and devotional content continue to benefit today’s readers with authentic Gospel preaching and sound biblical teaching. His ministry continues to flourish from the original (Spurgeon’s) Metropolitan Tabernacle, a church fellowship began in 1650 with the present building constructed by members of the congregation in 1861 and rebuilt after the second world war..
Spurgeon's written materials are for the edification of the church body as well as a great benefit, blessing and challenge to all readers. Our desire is that the written Word of God will become the Living Word in each and every reader. To this end, a calendar is indexed (top, right) on the Home page of DailySpurgeon.com for daily study, meditation and prayer. An unabridged and strictly maintained fidelity to Spurgeon’s original calendar and unabridged text is carefully guarded.

In contrast, the Incomplete and unsealed codices of Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are not translated from the over 5,312 Majority Text Greek manuscripts, that became the Textus Receptus [Original Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus]. Sinaiticus and Vaticanus present variant, ambiguous and erroneous readings rather than that of the well-established and settled texts. They disagree often with one another as well as with the settled majority texts. Thus, an attempt to create a pretext that will continue to justify a never-ending demand for additional editions and interpretations. These unsettled differences and bias in certain sectarian doctrine [dogma] have led to the production of multiple “modern” editions with ambiguities, many variant readings and confusion from the explosion of unending, new editions.
Profit-driven publishers have embraced such an economic windfall to sell a continual flow of “new and better” English edition of The Bible. They give too little attention to the fidelity and accuracy already settled [in heaven] in majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus.
Psalm 119:89-90
89 Forever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations:
thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. [abides]
God, Himself, providentially protects and preserves His Word. His Word is the God-breathed, self-authenticating, immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful Word, settled in heaven. He is not the author of confusion.

Our Prayer: Dear Lord, empower your ministry to win many souls, and serve those in need, especially those in the household of faith, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not solicit praise of Charles H. Spurgeon or his writing or preaching. He didn’t need or want it then and wouldn’t desire it now. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach Christ Jesus only and him crucified.
Precaution: These Messages and prayers will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus or for gathering in in-person worship. Neither will they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word imparted by the Holy Spirit.
The Authorized King James Version (AKJV), also known as the Authorized Version (AV), is the authentic English Bible because it is rendered [translated into English] accurately and faithfully from the established majority of the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] manuscripts of the New Testament and the Hebrew Masoretic Text of the Old Testament (The Jewish Tanakh) These manuscripts are providentially protected of God, and always give a greater glory to God when compared to variant readings. The established majority manuscripts avoid doctrinal error, inaccuracies in translation, uninspired editorial notations, variant or ambiguous readings taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus.
The Authorized King James version is unique also in that the requirement of Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed only by the Cambridge University Press, The Crown’s Authorized Printer. No other [person or publisher] may print, copy or import the King James Bible into Great Brittan by order of the Crown.
Preaching Preparation: When preparing to preach, please send us the text reference that has been chosen if you would like us to send the Spurgeon Sermon addressing the same text.
My Prayer is that You would touch, lift up, encourage and teach all who faithfully minister your Word.

MISSION STATEMENT:
Our aim, with God’s help, is to be Christlike in all that we think, do and say. We desire to fulfill the Great Commission by taking the GOOD NEWS of Salvation by Grace through Faith in Jesus Christ [The Messiah] to every creature, and to make disciples and baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
Published Titles written by Spurgeon are included each day in DailySpurgeon.com
Devotions are:
· C.H. Spurgeon Prayers
· Spurgeon’s Illustrative Anecdotes
· Faith’s Checkbook
· Morning & Evening
These titles are from the inspired body of work created from the preaching and writing of Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892. He created an unexcelled legacy of gospel preaching and exposition and is known as the “Prince of Preachers”. Spurgeon has been and is today widely read with great benefit from the 1800’s to this present time. He is the beloved founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England (Thriving TODAY through the faithful preaching of the Gospel and the Sacred Worship of Jesus the Christ [Messiah].)

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please be blessed by the winning of many souls, and give us love and compassion toward all who are in need, especially those in the household of faith. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and for His sake, Amen.
Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not praise or exalt Charles H. Spurgeon beyond the honor due him. He didn’t need or want it when he was here on earth and has no need for it now, in Heaven. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM and Him crucified.
Precaution: These Devotional Messages and prayers alone can not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus. Neither do they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word. (The King James version (KJV), also known also as the Authorized Version (AKJV), is the preferred English Bible because its accuracy and fidelity to the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text) avoid doctrinal and editorial weakness found in many contemporary editions.
Written Prayers by Spurgeon must not be offered as a substitute for personal, intimate fervent, heart-felt, prayer. They are rather intended to warm the hearts of those who are seeking a season of authentic two-way, heart-to-heart fellowship and prayer with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit.

God appeals to our intelligent minds - but will we listen? Our inclination is to turn away, but if God in His mercy places in us a thirst for certain things, we listen and come to Him. Here are the needs that draw us to God.

How Mosaic Worship Foretold Christ
'Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary. And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all.'

The Authorized King James Bible
URL: https://www.biblegateway.com/versions/King-James-Version-KJV-Bible/
The above link is to search for specific words or Scriptures in the King James inerrant and infallible English Version (KJV) because it is providentially protected and preserved by GOD Himself through the only translation into English by faithful brethren from the 5,312 established majority text manuscripts MT from which the New Testament Greek Textus Receptus [received text] was taken and the Hebrew Masoretic Text of the Old Testament (Jewish Tanakh). These manuscripts are providentially protected, and frequently give greater glory to God when compared to variant readings of all modern translations from Modern Critical Texts based on only 55 hand picked inferior Greek manuscripts fabricated from either Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland. Both of these Greek textual sources follow an assumption that OLDER IS BETTER. Of course, this assumption is not valid if the older manuscripts contain error.
The established majority manuscripts and the Textus Receptus avoid doctrinal error, and inaccuracies in translation, uninspired editorial notations, variant or ambiguous readings which taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus.
Copyright: The King James Version is distinguished by the requirement of Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed by the Cambridge University Press, the Crown’s authorized printer. No one other than the Crown’s printer, is allowed print, copy or import the King James Bible into Great Brittan by order of the Crown.
In the United States there is no Copyright protection and the KJV is deemed Public Domain. If a new publication changes at least a 10% of an existing publication a lucrative Copyright can be granted. Therefore the NKJV and many other copyrighted translations. Only the King James Version New Testament is unique from among the over 100 English translations that follow modern textual criticism and only the King James is translated from the superior Greek Textus Receptus as its Primary time tested and self-authenticating Greek text Source.

DEFENDING THE KING JAMES BIBLE by the Millennium Bible Institute

This video presents the truth for those who seek to learn about and use the providentially protected, preserved and immutable Holy Bible that is both inerrant [without error] and infallible and gives God alone, the utmost praise, and the greatest glory due to HIMSELF. Praise and worship are rightfully insisted upon and commanded in God’s inspired [God-Breathed (Spoken) Word from God himself.
HOLY WORDS that were given by God through the Holy Ghost, word by word, to His Holy Prophets and Apostles comprise all eternal Holy Scripture. (Matthew 5:18)

HOW HAS THE MAJORITY TEXT AND THE TEXTUS RECEPTUS BEEN PROVIDENTIALLY PROTECTED AND PRESERVED?
The inspired, god breathed, immortal words, were uttered, word-by-word, to the holy prophets and apostles who were chosen of God and moved by the holy ghost. These words are protected and preserved in holy scripture and are written word-by-word and are immutable, [unchangeable] without error, and infallible [incapable of making a mistake or being wrong]. and for ever [sic] settled in heaven by God himself in the self authenticating word of god, itself.
The Authorized (King James) Holy Bible.
ל Lamed
89 For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.
Authorized (King James) Version:
21For the prophecy [prophecies] came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
2 Peter 1:21
Authorized (King James) Version:
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:
* Letters from close relatives are quoted in the Inside Story above
The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,
thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on a defective text. Those who want to honor the Word of God must not promote the use of any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is entirely evil in itself, but because being contented to use a weakened version rather than the existing, preserved, without error unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has preserved for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it would be to Him if His people now chose instead to use versions that are based on defective Greek manuscript created by Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Aland.
Let the biblical story of Nadab and Abihu be a lesson for us all:
And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp. So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said. And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled” (Lev 10:1–6).
