DAILY SPURGEON  for  May 28th  *A.D. 2024 written and calendared by Charles Haddon Spurgeon.

*A.D. does NOT mean “After Death”, a common mistake.  It is an abbreviation from the Latin  words Anno Domini;  a shortened term, actually meaning:   “Year of our Lord”.

BCE/CE or  BC/AD   What’s the difference? Open this link…   Won’t you?

He was born of a virgin 2,024 years ago, is alive today, and is coming soon

for His  bride; the Church of the born-again redeemed.

FEATURED BIOGRAPHICAL VIDEOS  :

C.H. Spurgeon The Peoples Preacher  ( 70 min.)  Historically accurate Feature Film of the one called The Prince of Preachers

2,018,939 views May 14, 2020       ―a video into the life and ministry of Charles Haddon Spurgeon, widely known first as the “people’s preacher” who was later known as “The Prince of Preachers”.

It follows his trials and triumphs with historical accuracy pointing always to Jesus Christ and proclaiming, “Behold the Lamb of God which taketh [takes] away the sin of the world.”

Here is an intimate account of one of the greatest preachers in the history of the church. We follow him from his youth where, as a young preacher he is called Charlie, boy preacher of the Finns. to become the minister to London’s largest Baptist congregation and soon captures the love and respect of Great Britan to become one of its most influential figures.

Made by the award-winning Christian Television Association and filmed on location in England, Scotland, France and Germany, this film vividly captures the spirit and message of a man whose eventful life is highly relevant to the twenty-first century.

Thank You  LORD for dailyspurgeon.com  that proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ [The Messiah], and  the great commission for believers to go into  all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

This ministry was begun with the sending of  e-mails of  Spurgeon’s  Faith’s Checkbook,  to Jon Edward Riley (1971- 2021). A mailing list was started and grew rapidly with the addition of many who learned of this publication and wanted it sent to them directly. This mailing list  continues to be used to distribute dailyspurgeon.com   and we trust that it will continue to encourage whole-hearted devotional vigor of Love, and oneness with Jesus Christ through the study and obedience of GOD’S WORD.

Devotional Content published here has been  written and calendared by Charles Spurgeon. We pray that many will be born-again  and the born-again will be built-up in the Faith of Jesus Christ, by God’s grace and with His help. May God be pleased to sustain this ministry begun with my beloved son, Jon Edward Riley (1971-2021)  honored here as one to whom honor is due.

Jon would  often  say...

“I’m a blood-bought, born-again child of God.”

  Amen.

Is dailyspurgeon.com   or any other spoken or written communication to be trusted?

Is it true?     Is it of God?

Apply this Scripture to discern if it is of God and true, or not.

1 John 4:1-3  Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [voice] you hear but be testing the spirits [voices] whether they are of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit [voice]  of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come from God, is of God:  and every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit [voice] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Therefore, we should [must] test every voice [spirit] whether it is from God, bonified and trustworthy to be believed only if it  confesses [says]  that…

“Jesus Christ is here, from God, in the flesh having come from God .”

[All English translations of the Bible other than King James have  erroneously translated from two alternate Greek texts created by Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Alland as “Has come” rather than“Is come” [Is Here] which is the correct translation following the Greek Majority Text and the Textus Receptus].  The majority of manuscripts MT of the 5,321 individual Greek manuscripts that are preserved, protected, inerrant, infallible and immutable manuscripts and are in overwhelming agreement with one another and are the source from which the Textus Receptus is taken

All Modern Critical  translations overlook the original Greek verb “ictin” [To be] [is] (third person singular) that is in virtually all Majority Texts MT and  subsequently in the Textus Receptus [Received Text] therefore they fail to correctly translate  the Greek verb  as, “Is come” [Is here].  (Rightly translated from the Received Text only in the King James Version)

This  error occurs  because the  modern critical Greek text, created by Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Alland DO NOT follow the  MT [Majority Texts] of 5,321 Greek manuscripts that  affirm agreement   with one another.   The TR  [Textus Receptus] is rendered from this overwhelming body of agreement from Majority Text of primary manuscript sources. Both Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Alland have omitted the verb “is”, from the Greek text. This error may be described in the legal term res ipsa loquitur meaning the thing speaks for itself.

Therefore, the alternate translations generated from these two alternate Greek fabrications are not correct. Why is that?

Because non-believers and false prophets can indeed, and often do, affirm that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. Practically anyone can  make this confession as the  birth of Jesus Christ is considered by virtually all respected historians to be the most well documented fact in history. That He has come is generally acknowledged by nonbelievers and believers alike.   However, here’s the point. There is a huge difference between “Has come” and “Is Here”. “Has come” falls woefully short of the essential and clear meaning of the confession “Is Here”. Just because something “has come” it can not be assumed, inferred or deduced that it also “is here”.

The “has come” assertion is not surprising nor is it, per se, a false statement. Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. However, this  fails to present a  Rubric necessary to discern whether the sprit [voice] being tested [tried] is from God or from false prophets in the spirit of antichrist.

Again, the expression “has come” rather than  “is come” [is here]  is not, per se a false statement.

However, it fails to deliver a valid hypothesis, proffered and inferred in the contextfor scriptural discernment. The failure here  to establish a logical and rhetorically sound rubric to judge  the question of whether spirits [words] are from God or from false prophets and the spirit of antichrist is absent.

Namely, it does not provide a sound hypothesis to discern whether a spirit [spoken or written words]  are from God or the spirit of Antichrist.

Virtually anyone [or any spirit] may avow that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. But as you can see, this does not resolve the issue of whether something should or should not be believed or followed. Why?  Once again,  because virtually anyone and everyone can and often do confess that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. This leaves absent a valid and efficacious hypothesis to discern the truth.

Again, while it is  true that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh, this alone is inadequate to discern truth from error. “Has come” does not mean the same thing as “is come [is here],  from God, in the flesh” and therefore  is a failed attempt to represent itself as efficacious for true spiritual discernment as outlined in 1 John Chapter 4: 1-3.

Further, as we  compare  Scripture with  scripture in 1 John 4:1-3 and  Ephesians 5:30-32

we comprehend God’s message regarding  the body of Jesus Christ  being in the Flesh vis-à-vis The Body of Christ, The Corporate Church.

Compare  1 John 4:1-3   with Ephesians 5:30-32

1 John 4:1-3  Authorized (King James) Version

4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Ephesians 5:30-32
Authorized (King James) Version

30 for we are members of his [Jesus Christ’s]  body,  of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery:

but I speak concerning  Christ and the church.

[So, we are members of His body, flesh and bone, [we are] one flesh with Him,  The Body of Christ is (In the flesh); and is the incarnate Body of believers].

He was born of a virgin 2024 years ago and  He lives today.

He’s coming again,  for His bride; the Church [Blood-bought, Born-again members of His body].

When a believer considers the fact that they are members of the body of Christ [The Church] , they should acknowledge and readily confess that…

“Jesus Christ is here, from God,  in the flesh,” because  We are the Body of Christ; The Church, in the flesh!  Amen.

As Jon remembered veterans, we remember him: Jon Edward Riley (1971-2021) who would, on occasion, just bust-out singing the following songs; sometimes, on the way to church sometimes just singing along with the Elvis Gospel CD that was always kept in the truck’s CD player or,

even better, a song the Lord would spontaneously put in his joyful and loving heart.

I LOVE You Lord by Jared Reynolds

How Great Thou Art with Elvis

Lead Me & Rock-a My Soul by Elvis and friends

…Jon always said “Later”; as in [see’ya later] instead of “good bye”. It was his unique way to bid farewell … He would never say “good-bye”. Now,  remembering the sound of his voice saying “Later”, it rings true with a  new and deeper meaning and it brings a joyfulness and comfort to the hearts of those he loved so well; those who love him still, and always will.

… we are reminded of the promise of the Hymn:

’Till We Meet Again. Amen.

TODAY’S SERMON by Charles Haddon Spurgeon:

God’s Promises to the Gospel Church     Isaiah 41:8   Dr. Peter Masters, Pastor

An unbelieving world, says Isaiah, will be deaf to the message behind God's mighty events (whether conquest or pandemic) while believers will know His love and power, and reap a great spiritual harvest. Here we explore the prophet's powerful words and their fulfillment.

Long before the Conservative Resurgence, Dr. R.G. Lee was the Southern Baptist champion of biblical infallibility and inerrancy. In his sermon, “The Word of God – Not Broken and Not Bound,” published in 1930, in which Dr. Lee stated the following regarding the HOLY BIBLE: (KJV)
“All [Prophets and Apostles] who wrote are immortalized by their writing of this great Book, supernatural in origin, divine in authorship, human in penmanship, infallible in authority, infinite in scope, universal in interest, personal in application, regenerative in power, inspired [God breathed] in totality.”

Dr. R.G. Lee preached a much requested sermon called Payday Someday over 1,000 times.

Why was it so powerful? Why was it requested and preached so many times?

The Clothing of Humility

1 Peter 5.5

Beginning with humility in preachers and church officers, Peter calls all to place themselves under them. Exactly what is intended? He then speaks of being 'clothed' in humility. We explore the helps and hindrances to advancing in this essential grace for all believers.

The Narrow And The Wide Gates

Matthew 7.13-14

Christ sets out life's options. Here is the meaning of the wide gate, through which one is carried by the crowd into purposelessness and spiritual disaster. In contrast - the narrow gate; and why it gets this description, when in fact it is the gate of enduring happiness.

SACRED LITERATURE:

THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS   by  John Bunyan  is the most famous Allegory, world-wide and the Most widely Published Book of all time and was printed in over 200 Languages. It has NEVER,  since 1698, been  out-of-print.

Only The King James Bible was more widely published than The Pilgrim’s Progress.

BUNYAN’S  ORIGINAL of 1678: The Pilgrim’s Progress  Published in 1853  by Logos

REVISED VERSION:              The Pilgrim’s Progrefs  [sic] 1999 by Barry E. Horner

OLD ENGLISH  PRINT: The Pilgrim’s Progress  Part II   AKA  Christiana
(Christian’s wife, Christiana and children; their dangerous journey, and safe arrival at the desired country.)

Pilgrim Progress is the world’s most famous Allegory, It and the Bible were commonly the only books to be found in the cabin of early American Settlers and were  loved and  read more than any book, second only to the Holy Bible.  It’s  also considered, by some, as being the world’s first English novel. It’s likely the most published book other than the Bible of all time. There were 1,300 editions printed before 1938,  250 years after the Bunyan’s death. Hence, the world’s most famous Allegory.

Comment on Pilgrim’s Progress by Charles H. Spurgeon from the Spurgeon Sermon
“Christ in You”.

Spurgeon:  Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me of Mr. Bunyan’s picture of [the town of] Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [happy melodies] , for the king himself was come. Up to the castle of the heart [main castle]  he rode in triumph, and took his royal throne to be henceforth the sole lord and king of the city.

Christ in you is a right royal word. Christ swaying his scepter from the center of your being over every power and faculty, desire and resolve, bringing every thought into captivity to himself, Oh, this is glory begun, and the sure pledge of heaven. Oh, for more of the imperial sovereignty of Jesus, The Messiah;  our liberty to be absolutely under his sway.

Spurgeon Sermon: Christ in You, Preached May 13, 1883 Scripture: Colossians 1:27  From: Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit, Volume 29   (cit. II. THE SWEETNESS OF THIS MYSTERY, WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU, § 5)

You may choose to read, listen or share Pilgrim’s Progress with your little ones as a bed time story.   It will bless, strengthen, encourage and instruct pilgrims of all ages and will create precious and enduring memories in little ears.

Spurgeon read it for the first time as a precocious five year old reader and would returned to read it over 100 times during the course of his remarkable ministry as a Baptist pastor who is  known as The Prince of Preachers .

DEVOTIONAL READINGS written by Charles Haddon Spurgeon

PRAYER 20, Part 7 of 9

THE GREAT SACRIFICE.

Lord Jesus, Thou art gone from us. We rejoice that this is the fact, for Thou hast taught us that it is expedient [advantageous] for us that Thou shouldest [should] go, and that the Comforter should be with us; but, oh! let us not miss that promised presence of the Comforter [The Holy Spirit].

May He be here to help and succor in [run to support] all works of faith and labors of love, and may we feel that He has come among us and is dwelling with us because He is convincing [AKJV: will reprove] the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment to come.

O Spirit of God, bring men to accept the great propitiation [gift of redemption] , to see their sin washed away in the purple flood whose fount was opened when the heart of [Jesus] Christ was pierced, and may blood-washed sinners begin to sing on earth that everlasting anthem which shall be sung by all the redeemed in heaven. We beseech Thee now Lord, [earnestly pray for You], to look upon all Thy [Your] people, and grant every one a blessing. Some are in great trouble. Deliver them, we pray Thee [You]. Others may be in great peril, though they have no trouble.

The Lord [Dear Lord please] save His [Your] people from the evils [temptations] of prosperity. It may be [that] some of Thine [Your] own people find it hard to worship because of cares; may they be able, like Abraham, when the birds came down upon the sacrifice, to drive them away. [We ask these things in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 295: A Peaceful Mind.

I compare not the peaceful mind to a lake without a ripple. Such a figure would be inadequate. The only comparison I can find is in that unbroken tranquility which seems to reign in the deep caverns and grottoes of the sea far down where the sailor‘s body lies, where the sea-shells rest undisturbed, where there is nought [nothing] but darkness, and where nothing can break the spell, for there are no currents there, and all is still that is somewhat like the Christian’s soul when God speaks to him. There may be billows [giant waves] on the surface, by these he may be sometimes ruffled, but inside the heart there will be no ebb or flow [changing tide]; he will have “eternal peace with God,” a “peace that passeth [passes] all understanding,” too deep to fathom, too perfect to conceive, for none but they who prove it know: such peace that you could to-night lay your head down to sleep with the knowledge that you would never wake again in this world as calmly as you could if you knew your days were like Hezekiah’s, lengthened out for a certainty of fifteen years.

When we have peace with God, we can lie down, and if an angel visited us to say, “Soul, your Master calls you,” we could reply, “Tell my Master, I am ready. And if grim death were to come stalking to our bed-side, and were to say, “The pitcher is broken at the fountain, and the well is broken at the cistern: thou shalt die!” we might answer, “Die! we die willingly; we are prepared; we are not afraid; we have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ ; we have peace here, and we are willing to go and have that peace consummated up yonder [in heaven] in the better world.” ________________________________________

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK MAY 28 REMIND GOD OF HIS PROMISE C.H. Spurgeon

-And thou saidst, [said] I will surely do thee good- Genesis 32:12

-Y tu has dicho: Yo te haré bien, y pondre tu simiente como la arena del mar, que no se puede contar por la multitud- Genesis 32:12

This is the sure way of prevailing with the Lord in prayer. We may humbly remind Him of what He has said. Our faithful God will never run back from [go back on] His word, nor will He leave it unfulfilled; yet He loves to be enquired of by His people, and put in mind of His promise. This is refreshing to their memories, reviving to their faith, and renewing to their hope.

God’s Word is given, not for His sake, but for ours.

His purposes are settled, and He needs nothing to bind Him to His design of doing His people good; but He gives the promise for our strengthening and comfort. Hence He wishes us to plead it, and say to Him, -Thou saidst.- [said].

-I will surely do thee good-

is just the essence of all the Lord’s gracious sayings. Lay a special stress on the word -surely.-

He will do us good, real good, lasting good, only good, every good. He will make us good, and this is to do us good in the very highest degree. He will treat us as He does his saints while we are here, and that is good. He will soon take us to be with Jesus and all His chosen, and that is supremely good. With this promise in our hearts we need not fear angry Esau,

[Who gave away his birthright to Jacob for some of Jacob’s food] nor anyone else.

If the Lord will do us good, who can do us hurt?

Prayer: I humbly remind You Lord of Your Word to us that You will surely do us good. You said it, and that settles it. I know Your word is sure. Therefore, I trust You in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and for His sake, Amen.

 MORNING May 28

"Whom He justified, them He also glorified." —Romans 8:30

–Y á los que justificó, á estos también glorificó. —Romanos 8:30

HERE is a precious truth for you believer. You may be poor, or in suffering, or unknown, but for your encouragement take a review of your "calling" and the consequences that flow from it, and especially that blessed result here spoken of.

As surely as you are God's child today, so surely shall all your trials soon be at an end, and you will be rich to all the intents of bliss. Wait awhile, and that weary head will wear the crown of glory, and that hand of labor will grasp the palm-branch of victory.

Lament not your troubles, but rather rejoice that before long you will be where

"there shall be neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain."

The chariots of fire are at your door, and a moment will suffice to bear you to the glorified. The everlasting song is almost on your lip. The portals of heaven stand open for you. Think not that you can fail of entering into rest. If He has called you, nothing can divide you from His love.

Distress cannot sever the bond; the fire of persecution cannot burn the link; the hammer of hell cannot break the chain. You are secure; that voice which called you at first, will call you yet again from earth to heaven, from death's dark gloom to immortality's unuttered splendors.

Rest assured, the heart of Him who has justified you beats with infinite love toward you. You will soon be with the glorified, where your portion is; you are only waiting here to be made meet [fit] for the inheritance, and that done, the wings of angels shall carry you far away, to the mount of peace, and joy, and blessedness, where,

from a world of grief and sin,

With God eternally [forever] shut in [in residence],

you will rest forever and ever.

EVENING May 28

"This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope." —Lamentations 3:21

—Esto reduciré á mi corazón, por lo cual esperaré. —Lamentations 3:21

MEMORY is frequently the bond-slave of despondency. [depression] Despairing minds call to remembrance every dark foreboding [scary, threatening thing] in the past, and enlarge on every gloomy feature in the present; thus memory, clothed in sackcloth, presents to the mind a cup of mingled gall and wormwood [bitterness].

There is, however, no necessity for this.

Wisdom can readily transform memory into an angel of comfort.

That same recollection which in its left hand brings so many gloomy omens, may be trained to bear in its right hand a wealth of hopeful signs. She need not wear a crown of iron, she may encircle her brow with a fillet [crown] of gold, all spangled [decorated] with stars.

Thus it was in Jeremiah’s experience: in the previous verse, memory had brought him to deep humiliation of soul:

"My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me;"

and now this same memory restored him to life and comfort.

"This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope."

Like a two-edged sword, his memory first killed his pride with one edge, and then slew his despair with the other. As a general principle, if we would exercise our memories more wisely, we might, in our very darkest distress, strike a match which would instantaneously kindle [light] the lamp of comfort. There is no need for God to create a new thing upon the earth in order to restore believers to joy; if they would prayerfully rake the ashes of the past, they would find light for the present, and if they would turn to the book of truth [The Holy Bible] and the throne of grace, their candle would soon shine as before.

It is ours to remember the loving-kindness of the Lord, and to rehearse His deeds of grace. Let us open the volume of recollection so richly illuminated with memorials of mercy, and we will soon be happy.

Thus, memory may be, as [Samuel Taylor] Coleridge calls it, "the bosom-spring of joy," and when the Divine Comforter [The Holy Spirit] bends it to His service,

it may be chief among earthly comforters.

Or he will attack your steadfastness:

"What is the good of being so zealous? Be quiet like the rest; sleep as do others [everybody else] and let your lamp go out as the other virgins do."

Or he will assail your doctrinal sentiments [scriptural beliefs]:

"Why do you hold to these denominational creeds? Sensible men are getting more liberal; they are removing the old landmarks: fall in with the times."

Wear your shield.

Christian, therefore, close upon [put on] your armor, and cry mightily to God, that by His Spirit you may endure to the end.

A SINNER’S PRAYER:   … FOR WHOSOEVER WILL: [For One and all]

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved     … pray like this, won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am hopeless.  I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross for my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned to Hell. I have been  self-centered from birth.  Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m guilty and sorry for each and every sin I have done and look to You to forgive me of them all.
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You,  Lord Jesus, right now to save me.  You died on the cross for me, because of my sin  and You say,  “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21.

Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me,  I trust You, to  be my Lord and Savior from now on.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins.  I ask You to abide in me and give me the desire to always follow You.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross.  Even the sins of the whole world.

Thank you,  Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me even before I was born and that You still love me now. I love You too.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You have called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting  in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. Romans  8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [Holy Ghost, Comforter, Spirit of Truth]

Thank You for saving me heavenly Father. With all my heart, thank you Father for saving me in Jesus’ name,  Amen.

Allow us to share the joy of your new birth with heaven. Won’t you? Heaven rejoices over each redeemed sinner. Luke 15:7

These titles are from the inspired body of work created from the preaching and writing of Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892. He created an unexcelled  legacy of gospel preaching and exposition and is known as the “Prince of Preachers”.  Spurgeon has been and is today widely read with great benefit from the 1800’s to this present time. He is the beloved founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England (Thriving TODAY through the faithful preaching of the Gospel and the Sacred Worship of Jesus the Christ [Messiah].)

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please be blessed by the winning of many souls, and give us love and compassion toward all who are in need, especially those in the household of faith. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and for His sake, Amen.

Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not praise or exalt  Charles H. Spurgeon above or beyond the honor due him. He didn’t need or want it when he was here on earth and would have no need or desire for it now, in Heaven. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM and Him crucified.

Precaution: These Devotional Messages and prayers alone will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus. Neither do they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word. (The King James version (KJV), also known also as the Authorized Version (AKJV), is the preferred English Bible because its accuracy and fidelity to the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text) avoid doctrinal and editorial weakness found in many contemporary editions.

Written Prayers by Spurgeon must not be offered as a substitute for personal, intimate fervent, heart-felt, prayer. They are rather intended to warm the hearts of those who are seeking a season of authentic two-way, heart-to-heart  fellowship and prayer with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit. These words are protected and preserved in holy scripture and are written word-by-word and are immutable, [unchangeable] without error, and infallible [incapable of making a mistake or being wrong]. and for ever [sic] settled in heaven by God himself in the self authenticating word of god, itself.

The Authorized (King James) Holy Bible.

 Psalm 119:89

Authorized (King James) Version:

21For the prophecy [prophecies] came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
2 Peter 1:21

Authorized (King James) Version:

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:1

In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:

* Letters from close relatives are quoted in the Inside Story above

The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,

thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on a defective text. Those who want to honor the Word of God must not promote the use of any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is entirely  evil in itself, but because being contented to use a weakened version rather than the existing, preserved, without error unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has preserved for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it would be to Him if His people now chose instead to use versions that are  based on  defective Greek manuscript  created by Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Aland.

Let the biblical story of Nadab and Abihu be a lesson for us all:

And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp. So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said. And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled” (Lev 10:1–6).
