Oh, the matchless love of God

[Sing The Love of God]!

Truly if there be any glory it must be all the Lord’s; if there be any virtue it is the result of grace; if there be anything whatsoever that lifts us above the devil himself it is the work of the Divine [Holy] Spirit, to whom be glory [to whom all glory belongs]!

And now at the remembrance of all this, and being in Thy presence, we do yet rejoice that our unrighteousness is covered [forgiven]; from condemnation we are free: and we are the favored of the Lord. Thou hast [You have] given us, O Lord, to taste of that love which is not merely laid up [kept in store] for us, but we have enjoyed it, and do enjoy it still. [In the name of the Lord Jesus] Amen.

ANECDOTE 36: Christ in the Heart a Disinfectant. By C.H. Spurgeon 1834 – 1892

Myrrh, again was used as a disinfectant. When the fever is abroad [someone has fever] , we know people who wear little bags of camphor about their necks. They [the little bags] may be very good; I do not know. But the Orientals [from the East] believed that, in times of pest and plague, a little bag of myrrh worn between the breasts would be of essential service to whoever might carry it. And there doubtless is some power in myrrh to preserve from infectious disease.

Well, brethren, certain I am it is so with Christ. You have to go into the world, which is like a great lazar-house; [Hospice for the gravely ill] but if you carry Christ with you, you will never catch the world’s diseases. A man may be worth never [ever] so much money [but] he will never get worldly if he keepeth [keeps] Christ on his heart.

A man may have to tug and toil for his livelihood, and be very poor but he will never be discontented and murmuring if he lives close to Christ.

Oh, you who have to handle the world, See to it that you handle [hold onto] the Master [the Lord Jesus] more than the world. Some of you have to work with [or be in the presence of] drunken and swearing men; others are cast into the midst of frivolities [self-centeredness or amusements];

oh, take my Master with you! and sin’s plagues can have no influence upon your moral nature.

This was a great mercy for Jehoshaphat, for a great multitude had come out against him [in battle]; and it will be a great mercy for me, for I have great need, and I have no might or wisdom. If the Lord be with me, it matters little [it doesn’t matter much] who may desert [abandon] me. If the Lord be with me, I shall conquer in the battle of life, and the greater my trials the more glorious will be my victory. How can I be sure that the Lord is with me?

For certain He is with me if I am with Him.

If I trust in His faithfulness, believe His words, and obey His commands, He is assuredly with me. If I am on Satan’s side God is against me, and cannot be otherwise; but

if I live to honor God I may be sure that He will honor me.

Oh for faith to take hold upon the short but sweet text for today! O Lord, fulfill this word to thy servant! Be with me in the house, in the street, in the field, in the shop, in company, and alone. Be thou also with all thy people.

Prayer: Thank You Heavenly Father, for Your promise to be with me wherever I am. If I have

placed myself in the hands of Your Only-begotten Son, [The Lord Jesus Christ] by trusting Him to save me, then I may be sure that the You, Father will put forth all Your power to preserve me, [so] that Your Son may not be dishonored. If I trust in His faithfulness, believe His words, and obey His commands, He is assuredly with me. Thank You, Heavenly Father in the name of the Lord Jesus and for His sake, Amen.

AS a Christian you have to live in the midst of an ungodly world, and it is of little use for you to cry "Woe is me." Jesus did not pray that you should be taken out of the world, and what He did not pray for, you need not desire. Better far in the Lord's strength to meet the difficulty, and glorify Him in it. The enemy is ever on the watch to detect inconsistency in your conduct; be therefore very holy.

Remember that the eyes of all are upon you, and that more is expected from you than from other men. Strive to give no occasion for blame.

Let your goodness be the only fault they can discover in you. Like Daniel, compel them to say of you, "We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God."

Seek to be useful as well as consistent. Perhaps you think, "If I were in a more favorable position I might serve the Lord's cause but I cannot do any good where I am," but the worse the people are among whom you live, the more they need your exertions; if they be crooked, the more you should set them straight; and if they be perverse, the more you need to turn their proud hearts to the truth. Where should the physician be but where there are many sick? Where is honor to be won by the soldier but in the hottest fire of the battle? And when weary of the strife and sin that meets you on every hand, consider that all the saints have endured the same trial.

They were not carried on beds of down [goose feathers] to heaven, and you must not expect to travel more easily than they. They had to hazard [risk] their lives to the death in the high places of the field, and you will not be crowned till you also have endured hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. Therefore, "stand fast in the faith

SOME things in nature must remain a mystery to the most intelligent and enterprising investigators.

Human knowledge has bounds beyond which it cannot pass.

Universal knowledge is for God alone.

If this be so in the things which are seen and temporal, I may rest assured that it is even more so in matters spiritual and eternal. Why, then, have I been torturing my brain with speculations as to destiny and will, fixed fate, and human responsibility?

I am no more able to comprehend these deep and dark truths than to find out the depths from which old ocean draws her watery stores.

Why am I so curious to know the reason of my Lord's providences, the motive of His actions, the design of His visitations?

Shall I ever be able to clasp [hold] the sun in my fist, and hold the universe in my palm? Yet these are as a drop in a bucket compared with the Lord my God. Let me not strive to understand the infinite, but spend my strength in love.

What I cannot gain by intellect I can possess by affection, and let that suffice me [be sufficient]. I cannot penetrate the heart of the sea, but I can enjoy the healthful breezes which sweep over its bosom, and I can sail over its blue waves with propitious winds. If I could enter the springs of the sea, the feat would serve no useful purpose either to myself or others; it would not save the sinking ship, or give back the drowned mariner to his weeping wife and children; neither would my solving deep mysteries avail me a single whit, for

the least love to God and the simplest act of obedience to Him are better than the profoundest knowledge.

My Lord, I leave the infinite to You, and pray that You put far from me [take away] such a love for the tree of knowledge as might keep me from the tree of life.

A SINNER’S PRAYER

Whosoever shall call on the name of the lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

Pray and call on the name of the Lord Jesus, like this. Won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and hopeless to save myself. Without you and your blood that was shed for me and Your death on the cross I would spend eternity in Hell’s fire.

Thank you Lord Jesus that You love me and died for me before I was born and that You have always loved me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father but by You.

Thank you, Father that You have caused for me to see myself as I am; a lost sinner. But, because of Your love and goodness, You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in You, Lord Jesus. You took my place on the cross and provided the way for me to be forgiven. Thank You.
Thank You that You prompted a desire in me to believe in You, the only begotten Son of God who died on the cross to be the sacrifice that would atone for my sins.

Thank You, Father for Your love that allowed Jesus to suffer and die in my place. Thank You that You raised Jesus from the dead. He is RISEN and is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus I am free.

You raised Jesus from the dead, gave Him a Glorified body and after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with You in heaven.

Thank you, Father, for saving me in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

God has preserved His Word through The Masoretic Hebrew of the Old Testament and the GreekTextus Receptus of the New:

In contrast, the Incomplete and unsealed codices of Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are not translated from the over 5,312 Majority Text Greek manuscripts, that became the Textus Receptus [Original Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus]. Sinaiticus and Vaticanus present variant, ambiguous and erroneous readings rather than that of the well-established and settled texts. They disagree often with one another as well as with the settled majority texts. Thus, an attempt to create a pretext that will continue to justify a never-ending demand for additional editions and interpretations. These unsettled differences and bias in certain sectarian doctrine [dogma] have led to the production of multiple “modern” editions with ambiguities, many variant readings and confusion from the explosion of unending, new editions.

Profit-driven publishers have embraced such an economic windfall to sell a continual flow of “new and better” English edition of The Bible. They give too little attention to the fidelity and accuracy already settled [in heaven] in majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus.

God, Himself, providentially protects and preserves His Word. His Word is the God-breathed, self-authenticating, immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful Word, settled in heaven. He is not the author of confusion.

The above link is to search for specific words or Scriptures in the King James inerrant and infallible English Version (KJV) because it is providentially protected and preserved by GOD Himself through the only translation into English by faithful brethren from the 5,312 established majority text manuscripts MT from which the New Testament Greek Textus Receptus [received text] was taken and the Hebrew Masoretic Text of the Old Testament (Jewish Tanakh). These manuscripts are providentially protected, and frequently give greater glory to God when compared to variant readings of all modern translations from Modern Critical Texts based on only 55 hand picked inferior Greek manuscripts fabricated from either Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland. In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:

The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,

thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on a defective text. Those who want to honor the Word of God must not promote the use of any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is entirely evil in itself, but because being contented to use a weakened version rather than the existing, preserved, without error unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has preserved for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it would be to Him if His people now chose instead to use versions that are based on defective Greek manuscript created by Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Aland.

Let the biblical story of Nadab and Abihu be a lesson for us all:

Pilgrim Progress is the world’s most famous Allegory, It and the Bible were commonly the only books to be found in the cabin of early American Settlers and were loved and read more than any book, second only to the Holy Bible. It’s also considered, by some, as being the world’s first English novel. It’s likely the most published book other than the Bible of all time. There were 1,300 editions printed before 1938, 250 years after the Bunyan’s death. Hence, the world’s most famous Allegory.

Spurgeon: Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me of Mr. Bunyan’s picture of [the town of] Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [happy melodies] , for the king himself was come. Up to the castle of the heart [main castle] he rode in triumph, and took his royal throne to be henceforth the sole lord and king of the city.

Christ in you is a right royal word. Christ swaying his scepter from the center of your being over every power and faculty, desire and resolve, bringing every thought into captivity to himself, Oh, this is glory begun, and the sure pledge of heaven. Oh, for more of the imperial sovereignty of Jesus, The Messiah; our liberty to be absolutely under his sway.

LET ALL THE PEOPLE PRAISE THEE.

Oh, [Lord] this base [gross] heart of ours! hath it not [doesn’t it have] enough tinder [kindling wood] in it to set on fire the course of nature? If a spark do but fall into it, any one of our members left to itself would dishonor Christ, deny the Lord that bought us, and turn back into perdition [denial of the Gospel of Jesus Christ]. We are altogether ashamed. Truly in us is fulfilled Thine [Your] own Word: “Thou shalt [You shall] be a shame, and never open thy mouth any more.”
For Thy [Your] love to us hath silenced us, that great love hath hidden boasting from us; Thy [Your] great love, wherewith Thou lovedst [loved] us even when we were dead in trespasses and sins; Thy [Your] great love wherewith Thou hast loved us still [with which You still love us], despite our ill manners, our wanderings, our shortcomings, and our excesses. [Thank You for such unspeakable love. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ] Amen.

ANECDOTE 35: Sanctuary in Christ.

I saw the other day a remarkable picture, which I shall use as an illustration of the way of salvation by faith in Jesus. An offender had committed a crime for which he must die, but it was in the olden time when churches were considered to be sanctuaries in which criminals might hide themselves and so escape.
See the transgressor he rushes towards the church, the guards pursue him with their drawn swords, all athirst for his blood; they pursue him even to the church door. He rushes up the steps, and just as they are about to overtake him and hew [hack] him in pieces on the threshold of the church, out comes the bishop, and holding up the crucifix, he cries,

“Back, back! stain not the precincts of God’s house with blood! stand back! ” and the guards at once respect the emblem and stand back, while the poor fugitive hides himself behind the robes of the priest. It is even so with Christ. The guilty sinner flies to the cross flies straight away to Jesus, and though Justice pursues him, Christ lifts up his wounded hands and cries to Justice, “

Stand back! stand back! I shelter this sinner; in the secret place of my tabernacle do I hide him; I will not suffer him to perish, for he puts his trust in me.”

Precious word! Jehovah Himself will deliver His people in the greatness of His mercy, but He will not do it by the ordinary means. Men are slow to render [give] to God the glory due unto His name. If they go to battle with sword and bow, and win the victory, they ought to praise their God; yet they do not, but begin to magnify their own right arm [fighting skill], and glory in their horses and horsemen.

For this reason our Jehovah often determines to save His people without second means, that all the honor may be to Himself alone. Look, then, my heart, to the Lord alone, and not to man.

Expect to see God all the more clearly when there is no one else to look to. If I have no friend, no adviser, no one at my back [to protect it], let me be none the less confident if I can feel that the Lord Himself is on my side; yea, let me be glad if He gives victory without battle, as the text seems to imply. Why do I ask for horses and horsemen if Jehovah Himself has mercy upon me, and lifts up His arm for my defense?

Why need I bow [and arrows] or sword if God will save? Let me trust, and not be afraid, from this day forth and for evermore. Amen

Prayer: Thank You Father, that -You will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save us by the Lord our God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen. Help me to find comfort in You and Your promise of protection Lord Jesus I pray, Amen.

MORNING September 4

“I will, be thou clean.”—Mark 1:41

—Quiero, sé limpio.— Marcos 1:41

PRIMEVAL darkness heard [from chaos] the Almighty fiat [command],

“Let there be light,”

and straightway light was. And the word of the Lord Jesus is equal in majesty to that ancient word of power. Redemption [salvation], like Creation has its word of might. Jesus speaks and it is done. Leprosy yielded to no human remedies [cures], but it fled at once to the Lord’s,

“I will.”

The disease exhibited no hopeful signs or tokens of recovery, nature contributed nothing to its own healing, but the unaided word effected the entire work on the spot and forever.

The sinner is in a plight more miserable than the leper; let him imitate his example and go to Jesus, “beseeching [pleading with] him and kneeling down to him.” Let him exercise what little faith he has, even though it should go no further than,

“Lord, if thou wilt [you will], thou canst [you can] make me clean”;

and there need be no doubt as to the result of the application. Jesus heals all who come and casts out none. In reading the narrative in which our morning’s text occurs, it is worthy of devout notice that

Jesus touched the leper.

This unclean person had broken through the regulations of the ceremonial law and had pressed into the house, but Jesus, so far from chiding him, broke through the law himself in order to meet Him. He made an interchange with the leper, and while He cleansed him, He contracted by that touch a Levitical defilement [a transgression against the law of the priestly Levites].

Even so Jesus Christ was made sin for us, although in Himself, He knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. O that poor sinners would go to Jesus, believing in the power of His blessed substitutionary work, [taking the punishment we deserved for us] and they would soon learn the power of His gracious touch. The hand that multiplied the loaves, that saved sinking Peter, that upholds afflicted saints, that crowns believers

— that same hand will touch every seeking sinner and in a moment make him clean. The love of Jesus is the source of salvation.

He loves, He looks, He touches us and we live.

"Just [true] balances, just [true] weights, a just [true] ephah [bushel] and a just [true] hin, [one and one half gallons] shall ye have. " — Leviticus 19:36

WEIGHTS, and scales, and measures were to be all according to the standard of justice. Surely no Christian man will need to be reminded of this in his business, for if righteousness were banished from all the world beside, it should find a shelter in believing hearts. There are, however, other balances which weigh moral and spiritual things, and these often need examining.

We will call in the officer [examiner] tonight.

The balances in which we weigh our own and other men's characters, are they quite accurate? Do we not turn our own ounces of goodness into pounds, and other persons' bushels of excellence into pecks [one forth ¼ of a bushel].

See to [pay attention to] weights and measures here, Christian.

The scales in which we measure our trials and troubles, are they according to standard? Paul, who had more to suffer than we have, called his afflictions light, and yet we often consider ours to be heavy—surely something must be amiss with the weights! We must see to [take care of] this matter lest [for fear that] we get reported to the court above [heavenly court] for unjust dealing.

Those weights with which we measure our doctrinal belief, are they quite fair? The doctrines of grace should have the same weight with us as the precepts [teachings] of the Word, no more and no less; but it is to be feared that with many [believers] one scale or the other is unfairly weighted.

It is a grand matter [hugely important] to give just [fair, accurate and true] measure in truth.

Christian, be careful here. Those measures in which we estimate our obligations and responsibilities look rather small. When a rich man gives no more to the cause of God than the poor contribute, is that a just ephah and a just hin [units of measurements]?

When ministers are half starved, is that honest dealing? When the poor are despised while ungodly rich men are held in admiration, is that a just balance?

Reader, we might lengthen the list, but we prefer to leave it as your evening's work to find out and destroy all unrighteous [false, inaccurate or untrue] balances [scales], weights, and measures.
