Devotion for September 8th *A. D. 2025

_________________________________________________

Note: The New King James Version NKJV and all versions  that are NOT  translated from  the Textus Receptus [Received Text] are  inferior to the  translations of the  1769 [1611] King James Version, KJV and the Geneva Bible.  Only these two translations have remained  faithful to the traditional Textus Receptus.

Only the Textus Receptus [Received Text] is sustained by more than 5,321 Majority Greek Text MT Manuscripts and  stand in agreement with one another 99% . ALL OTHER readings have as their primary Greek source either Westcott and Hort’s or Nestle and Aland’s, Greek Texts  fabricated from only a handful [45] of Majority Text Manuscripts and  lack the  trustworthiness produced in  the inspired 1769 [1611] King James Version, KJV and the Geneva Bibles; the only two translated from the reliable, inspired  and divinely protected Textus Receptus.

             (169 mins.)

The Bridge to Babylon video presents historical evidence to account for the explosion of over 100 different  English version translations  of the Bible. The continuing attempts to replace, add or take away from the 1769 King James Version of the Holy Bible can not  prevail because GOD Himself preserves and protects His inspired Holy Words

from all heresy, blasphemy, confusion , error additions, subtractions and changes.

*A.D. does NOT mean “After Death”.

 It abbreviates Anno Domini;

It’s a Latin phrase adopted into English that means:

“Year of our Lord."

Is this website trustworthy?

Is it of God?

1 John 4:1-3

Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everyone or everything] you hear but be testing the spirit [voice] whether it is of God: because many false prophets have gone [come] out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses [avows] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come[who came] out of God, is of God: and every spirit that confesses not [doesn’t audibly avow] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

I therefore and hereby confess, out-loud, that Jesus Christ is come            [is here] in the flesh.

[All translations of the Bible that use a Greek text other than the traditional Textus Receptus translate  by ignoring  “ictin” (the Greek word for “is”).  This omission causes a change in  meaning from “is come” [is here] to “has come”.

This error is self-evident due to the fact that  non-believers, false prophets and even heretics can, and frequently  do, say that He “has come” in the flesh.

While this is true at face value, this meaning  does not render a valid test that will discern between the Spirit of God and the spirit of antichrist.

The most well documented fact in all recorded human history is that Jesus. the Christ [Messiah]  has come in the flesh. The essential question to be ascertained, however, is not whether the spirit [words or person] being tested confess that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh but, it is of essential importance, to discern  whether Jesus Christ, “is here, from God, in the flesh.”

Ephesians 5:30-32

30 for we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32

This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Compare, here, scripture with scripture: “I speak concerning Christ and the church.” [the fleshly embodiment, here, of the body of Christ].

Jusus The Mesiah [Christ] has always and Forever will exist as the eternal WORD of God.    John 1:1-2

He was born of a virgin 2,025 years ago in Bethlehem,

is alive today, and is coming soon for His bride; the Church  (the redeemed).

1 Timothy 3:16

Authorized (King James) Version

16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

May the Holy Ghost  draw  you to the Lord Jesus Christ to receive Him as your Savior and LORD and may you audibly  acknowledge Him as such and therefore be  acknowledged by Him  to His Father in heaven; The God of Abraham. Isaac and Jacob. “I and my Father are one”. You may  then follow Him in your own baptism.

Jesus came from Galilee to Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist. But, John forbad [refused] Him and said, “I have need to be baptized of You and [yet] you are coming to me?” [for baptism] And Jesus answering him said, “Suffer it to be so [Allow this]: for thus it becometh [is fitting and right for] us to fulfil all righteousness.”

 Matthew 3:15

Baptism is not essential for salvation. Remember, Jesus said to the thief on the cross, who acknowledged Jesus’ innocence and said to him. “Remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And Jesus said to him, “Verily [Truly] I say to you, Today you shall be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43

The act of Baptism pictures the Lord’s death and resurrection and by extension through identification with Him, also pictures the believer’s death to self, atonement, and new, born-again life.

Baptism in the preaching of John the Baptist is that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand and that Repentance from sin and the Baptism of atonement is required for salvation and is to be followed to fulfil all righteousness.

We Worship The Lord Jesus Christ (Messiah) in Spirit and in truth in  prayer, Bible readings, scriptural meditation, gospel preaching, singing of sacred hymns and songs.

Daily Spurgeon, is dedicated to this purpose.  This website is not intended, to take the place of gathering together in-person for fellowship and worship as a local body of believers and followers of Jesus Christ (The Messiah).

2 Timothy 2:15

“Study to show yourself approved unto God, a worker that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing [accurately comprehending and declaring ] the word of truth.” [God’s immutable, infallible and inerrant Word.

To Be a fully devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ is my fervent desire. I have  trusted and do now believe that he forgave  all my sin when He died on the Cross. He  died to save me eternally from sin to life everlasting.

I will, with His help, follow Him to invite  and encouraging non-believers to repent ,  turn away from sin, look to Him alone and be saved.

We trust that all believers (old and new) will benefit in knowing that He will sustain, guide and build us up as we are being conformed to the image of Christ Jesus by the power of the Holy Ghost.

Daily Spurgeon is a collection of devotional writings, prayers, sacred hymns and literature and encouragement by Charles Haddon Spurgeon, that rightly divides the Gospel [Good News] of JESUS the CHRIST [MESSIAH] to save the lost and encourage all believers [followers of Jesus Christ].

2,018,939 views May 14, 2020       ―a video into the life and ministry of Charles Haddon Spurgeon, widely known first as the “people’s preacher” who was later known as “The Prince of Preachers”.

This Documentary Video follows the trials and triumphs of Charles Spurgeon with a keen historical accuracy always pointing to Jesus Christ to proclaim,

“Behold the Lamb of God which taketh [takes] away the sin of the world.”

It’s an intimate account of one of the greatest preachers in the history of the church. We follow him from his youth where, as a young preacher he is called Charlie, boy preacher of the Finns. to become the minister to London’s largest Baptist congregation and soon captures the love and respect of Great Britan to become one of its most influential and enduring figures.

Produced by the award-winning Christian Television Association and filmed on location in England, Scotland, France and Germany, this film vividly captures the spirit and message of a man whose eventful life is highly relevant to the present.

Thank You LORD for dailyspurgeon.com  a website that  proclaims Jesus as the the Christ [Messiah and Anointed King] to all the world .

This website ministry has grown from a simple beginning of sending e-mails of the daily promises from  Charles Spurgeon’s  Faith’s Checkbook to John Michael’s son, Jon Edward Riley (1971- 2021). When Jon Edward shared them with Others they asked  to be added to the mailing list. This mailing list  continues to be used to distribute dailyspurgeon.com   and we trust it will continue to encourage fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ to greater  vigor in their personal devotion of Love, obedience and oneness with Jesus Christ through the empowerment and obedience of GOD’S WORD by the Holy Ghost.

These Multiple Devotional publications  by Charles Spurgeon are now brought together day by day at

These were written and calendared by Charles Spurgeon over 200 years ago from scriptures that ; yet  timely inspiration, eternal relevance and encouragement today. We pray that many will be born-again and be built-up in the Faith of Jesus Christ, by God’s grace and mercy. May God be pleased to sustain this ministry begun with a beloved son, Jon Edward Riley (1971-2021)  honored here as one to whom honor is due.

Jon Edward loved and would  often  say:

“I’m a blood-bought, born-again child of God.”

Is dailyspurgeon.com   trustworthy?

There are three primary Greek texts from which translations are made.

Westcott & Hort and  Nestle & Aland created their own Greek text rather than using the traditional Textus Receptus, rendered from the 5,321 extant Greek manuscripts,  known as  the Majority Text.

Instead, they used their own Greek  translations that they created with the use of only a handful [45] Greek manuscripts hand picked from  the 5,321 Majority Texts.

Their Greek translation  has allowed variant and misguided readings and diminishes honor and glory due only to GOD and is therefore faulty.

Translations other than King James overlook the original Greek verb “ictin” [To be] [is] (third person singular) that is translated in virtually all Majority Texts MT and  subsequently in the Textus Receptus [Received Text] therefore they   fail to correctly translate  the Greek verb  as, “Is come” [Is here].  (When it’s ranslated aright from the Received Text (TR)  in the King James Version only)

This  error occurs  because the  modern critical Greek text, created by Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Alland DO NOT follow the  MT [Majority Texts] of 5,321 Greek manuscripts that  affirm substantial majorityagreement with one another.   The TR  [Textus Receptus] is rendered from this overwhelming body of agreement from Majority Text of primary manuscript sources.

Both Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Aland have omitted the verb “is”, from the Greek text. This error may be described as res ipsa loquitur meaning the thing speaks for itself.

Therefore, the alternate Greek  fabrications generated by these two sources are not actually translations at all but their own  creations.

How do we know?

Because non-believers and false prophets can indeed, and often do, affirm that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. Practically anyone can  make this confession as the  birth of Jesus Christ is considered by virtually all respected historians to be the most well documented fact in history. That He has come is generally acknowledged by nonbelievers and believers alike.   However, here’s the point. There is a huge difference between “Has come” and “Is Here”. “Has come” falls woefully short of the essential and clear meaning of the confession “Is Here”. Just because something “has come” it can not be assumed, inferred or deduced that it also “is here”.

The “has come” assertion is not surprising nor is it, per se, a false statement. Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. However, this  fails to present a  Rubric necessary to discern whether the sprit [voice] being tested [tried] is from God or from false prophets in the spirit of antichrist.

Again, the expression “has come” rather than  “is come” [is here]  is not, per se a false statement.

However, it fails to deliver a valid hypothesis, proffered and inferred in the contextfor scriptural discernment. The failure here  to establish a logical and rhetorically sound rubric to judge  the question of whether spirits [words] are from God or from false prophets and the spirit of antichrist is absent.

Namely, “has come” is such a wide-spread belief held to be historically true by all, it does not provide a sound standard to discern whether a spirit [spoken or written words]  are from God or the spirit of Antichrist.

Almost anyone [or any spirit] can declare that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. But as you can see, this does not resolve the issue of whether something should or should not be believed or followed. Why?  Once again,  because almost anyone can and often does confess that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. This is an insufficient standard. The standard must be whether the confession that Jesus is here  alone, gives an efficacious standard to discern truth from error.

Again, while it is  true that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh, this alone is inadequate to discern truth from error. “Has come” does not mean the same thing as “is come [is here],  from God, in the flesh” and therefore fails to be efficacious for true spiritual discernment as outlined in 1 John Chapter 4: 1-3.

Furthermore, as we  compare  Scripture with  scripture in 1 John 4:1-3 and  Ephesians 5:30-32

we comprehend God’s message regarding  the body of Jesus Christ  being in the Flesh vis-à-vis The Body of Christ, The Corporate Church.

Compare  1 John 4:1-3   with Ephesians 5:30-32

1 John 4:1-3  Authorized (King James) Version

4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Ephesians 5:30-32
Authorized (King James) Version

30 for we are members of his [Jesus Christ’s]  body,  of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery:

but I speak concerning  Christ and the church.

[So, we are members of His body, flesh and bone, [we are] one flesh with Him,  The Body of Christ is (In the flesh); and is the incarnate Body of believers].

He was born of a virgin 2024 years ago and  He lives today.

He’s coming again,  for His bride; the Church [Blood-bought, Born-again members of His body].

When a believer considers that they are members of the body of Christ [The Church] , they should acknowledge and readily confess that…

“Jesus Christ is here, from God,  in the flesh,” because  We are the Body of Christ; The Church, in the flesh!  Amen.

SPECIAL SPURGEON SERMON: “Why Men Cannot Believe in Christ” [Christ Jesus]

Note: This Sermon was referenced in the Men’s Bible Study on Wednesday, August 14th 2024 at South Shores Church and is featured here as an unabridged Audio recording of Sermon
# 1245 preached originally by Charles Spurgeon in 1875 from his home church, The Metropolitan Tabernacle, London.

FEATURED  SERMON from Spurgeon’s Metropolitan Tabernacle  (London)

How [Jesus] Christ Builds Our Faith      John 14:1-14     with Dr. Peter Masters, Pastor

The day before Calvary, with the disciples, Christ gives a fourfold remedy for their deficiencies. They must grasp the necessity of faith, the heavenly objective, His pivotal atonement, and His equality with the Father. Only then can they fulfil their commission.

A SINNER’S PRAYER

PRAYER 7,  Part  7of 7 September 8th
LET ALL THE PEOPLE PRAISE THEE.
Our heart seems as if it had not anything else to ask for when it reaches to this; yet would we go back a moment and say: Lord, forgive us our sins; Lord, sanctify our persons [set myself apart for Your purposes] ; Lord, guide us in difficulty; Lord, supply our needs. [May] The Lord teach us; [May] the Lord perfect us; [May] the Lord comfort us; [May] the Lord make us meet [fit] for the appearing of His Son from heaven!  And now we come back to a theme that still seems to engross our desires. Oh! that [Jesus] Christ might come. Oh! that His word might be made known to the uttermost ends of the earth! Lord, they die, they perish, they pass away by multitudes! Every time the sun rises and sets they pass away! Make no tarrying [don’t delay], we beseech Thee. [earnestly beg You] Give wings to the feet of Thy [Your] messengers, and fire to their mouths, that they may proclaim the Word with Pentecostal [Supernatural] swiftness and might. Oh! that Thy [Your] kingdom might come, and Thy [Your] will be done on earth as it is in heaven, for Thine [Yours] is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.

[In the name of the Lord Jesus Amen.] PRAYER 7.doc  attached

ANECDOTE 39: September 8th “Bleating of the Sheep”
If you learn of Jesus you will have rest from the fear of men. I recollect, before I came to London, being at a prayer-meeting where a very quaint brother prayed for me that I might be delivered from the “bleating of the sheep.”

I understood it after awhile, he meant that I might live above the fear of man, that when such a person said  “How much we have been edified to-day,” I might not be puffed up; or if another said, “ How dull the discourse was to-day,” I might not be depressed. You will be delivered from “the bleating of the sheep ” when you have the spirit of [Jesus Christ] the Good Shepherd.

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK  September 8th   BROKEN AND SMOKING      C.H. Spurgeon 1834 – 1892

-A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench -Isaiah 42:3
-No quebrará la caña cascada, ni apagará el pabilo que humeare: -   Isaias 42:3

Then I may reckon upon [count on]  tender treatment from my Lord.  Indeed, I feel myself to be at best as weak, as pliant, as worthless as a reed. Someone said, -I don’t care a rush for you-;   and the speech, though unkind, was not untrue. Alas! I am worse than a reed when it grows by the river, for that at least can hold up its head. I am bruised, sorely, sadly bruised.  There is no music in me now; there is a rift [bruise] which lets out all the melody. Ah, me!

Yet Jesus will not break me; and if he will not, then I mind little what others try to do. O sweet and compassionate Lord, I nestle down beneath thy protection, and forget my bruises! Truly I am also fit to be likened to -the smoking flax,-   whose light is gone, and only its smoke remains. I fear I am rather a nuisance than a benefit. My fears tell me that the devil has blown out my light, and left me an obnoxious smoke, and that my Lord will soon put an extinguisher upon me. Yet I perceive [understand] that though there were snuffers [used to put out candles] under the law, there were no extinguishers; and Jesus will not quench me; therefore, I am hopeful. Lord, kindle me anew, and cause me to shine forth to thy glory, and to the extolling of thy tenderness.
Prayer: Thank You Heavenly Father, for Your protection toward me and all those who are weak and barely flickering, in the name of the Lord Jesus, Amen.

The Lord … is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9

Pray also that believers will be taught by the Holy Spirit to rightly divide God’s eternal Word preserved by God, Himself

Vis.  God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten [supernaturally fathered] Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but may be having eternal life. John 3:16    vis. Textus Receptus [Received Text] (overwhelming majority of extant New Testament Greek texts absent codices Sinaiticus and Vaticanus, often in dispute with one another and with frequent editions being required to address unsettled and uncertain changes and denominational bias created to bolster certain particular doctrine).

MORNING   September 8th
"From Me is thy fruit found."  —Hosea 14:8
—De mí será hallado tu fruto  — Oseas 14:8

Our fruit is found from our God as to union [being connected]. The fruit of the branch is directly traceable to the root. Sever [separate] the connection, the branch dies, and no fruit is produced. By virtue of our union with Christ we bring forth fruit. Every bunch of grapes have been first in the root, it has passed through the stem, and flowed through the sap vessels, and fashioned itself externally into fruit, but it was first in the stem;  so also every good work was first in Christ, and then is brought forth in us. O Christian, prize this precious union to Christ; for it must be the source of all the fruitfulness which thou canst [you can] hope to know. If thou wert [you were] not joined to Jesus Christ, thou wouldst [you would] be a barren bough [dry branch] indeed.
Our fruit comes from God as to spiritual providence. When the dew-drops fall from heaven, when the cloud looks down from on high, and is about to distil its liquid treasure, when the bright sun swells the berries of the cluster, each heavenly boon may whisper to the tree and say, "From me is thy fruit found." The fruit owes much to the root-that is essential to fruitfulness  -but it owes very much also to external influences. How much we owe to God's grace-providence! in which He provides us constantly with quickening [life giving], teaching, consolation, strength, or whatever else we want [lack] . To this we owe our all of  usefulness or virtue.
Our fruit comes from God as to wise husbandry [skillful cultivation]. The gardener's sharp-edged knife promotes the fruitfulness of the tree, by thinning the clusters, and by cutting off superfluous [unnecessary] shoots [buds and blooms]. So is it, Christian, with that pruning which the Lord gives to thee. "My Father is the husbandman. Every branch in Me that beareth not [doesn’t bring] fruit He taketh [takes] away; and every branch that beareth [bears] fruit He purgeth [prunes] it, that it may bring forth more fruit."

Since our God is the author of our spiritual graces, let us give to Him all the glory of our salvation.

EVENING    September 8th

[Glory to] "The exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power, which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead." —Ephesians 1:19, 20

IN the resurrection of [Jesus] Christ, as in our salvation, there was put forth nothing short of a divine power. What shall we say of those who think that conversion is wrought by the free will of man, and is due to his own better-ness [self-improvement]of disposition? When we shall see the dead rise from the grave by their own power, then may we expect to see ungodly sinners of their own free will turning to Christ.

It is not the word preached, nor [is it] the word read in itself: all quickening power proceeds from the Holy Ghost [Spirit]. This power was [and is eternally]  irresistible. All the soldiers and the high priests could not keep the body of Christ in the tomb; Death himself could not hold Jesus in his bonds [grasp]. Even so the power put forth in the believer when he is raised to newness of  life is irresistible.

No sin, no corruption, no devils in hell nor sinners on earth, can stay [hold back] the hand of God's grace when it intends to convert a man [person]. If God omnipotently [infinitely powerful] says, "You will," man will not say, "I will not." Observe that the power which raised Christ from the dead was glorious. It reflected honor to God and wrought dismay in the hosts [armies] of evil.

So, there is great glory to God in the conversion of every sinner. It was everlasting power. "Christ being raised from the dead dieth [dies] no more; death hath no more dominion over Him." So we, being raised from the dead, go not back to our dead works nor to our old corruptions [sinful habits], but we live unto God.

"Because He lives we live also." "For we are dead, [to sin] and our life is hid with Christ in God." "Like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in new ness of life." Lastly, in the text, note the union of the new life to Jesus. The same power which raised the Head works life in the members [body].

What a blessing to be quickened [made alive] together with [Jesus] Christ!
