A SINNER’S PRAYER May 22nd

PRAYER 20, May 22nd   PART 1of 9  THE GREAT SACRIFICE.

1  O GOD our Father, we do remember well when we were called to Thee [You] ; with many sweet and wooing [trying to gain the love of a certain person] we were bidden [called] to return. Thou didst [You did] Thyself [yourself] hang out the lights of mercy that we might know the way home, and Thy [Your] dear Son himself came down to seek us. But we wandered still. It brings the tears to our eyes to think that we should have been so foolish and so wicked, for we often extinguished the light within and conscience we tried to harden, and we sinned against light and knowledge with a high hand against our God.

Thou hast [You have] often brought us very low even to our knees, and we cried for mercy, but we rose [from our knees] to sin again. Blessed was that day when Thou didst strike [You did  strike] the blow of grace — the effectual blow. Then didst Thou [did you] wither up [Then You made to wither  (dry up)]  our comeliness [attractiveness] and all our perfection was rolled in the dust. We saw ourselves to be slain [dead] by the law, to be lost, ruined, and undone, and then we rolled to and fro in the tempests of our thoughts [being mind boggled] and staggered like drunken men, and were at our wits’ end — then did we cry unto Thee [You] in our trouble, and blessed be Thy [Your] name for ever, Thou didst [You did] deliver us.

Sing O happy day (Click to play, Won’t You?)

That sealed our pardon with the precious blood of Jesus accepted by faith. . [Thank You in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.] (Attachment: PRAYER 20.doc)

Anecdote 291: May 22nd  The Stream of Mercy, Come Thy Fount (Click to play) .

There is the stream of mercy, deep, broad, and clear : you have drunk of it, and are refreshed, but it is as full as ever. It will flow on, will it not? You do not suppose that you and I have dammed up the stream so as to keep it to ourselves.  No, it is too strong, too full a stream for that. It will flow on from age to age. God will bless others as he has blessed us. Unbelief whispers that the true church will die out.

Do not believe it.

Christ will live, and his church will live with him till the heavens be no more. Hath he not said, “Because I live, ye shall live also ?”  “Oh,” you say,  “but we shall not see such holy men in the next generation as in past ages.”  Why not? I hope the next age will see far better men than any of those who are with us at this time. Pray that it may be so. Instead of the fathers, may there be the children, and may these be princes before the Lord!

Faith’s Checkbook May 22nd  SONG OF CONFIDENCE

by C.H. Spurgeon – 1834- 1892

-Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me - Psalm 138:7

-Si anduviere yo en medio de la angustia, tu me vivificaras: Contra la ira de mis enemigos extenderas tu mano, Y salvarame tu diestra - Salmos 138:7

Wretched walking [it is] in the midst of trouble.  Nay, [No it’s not], [it s ]  blessed walking, since there is a special promise for it. Give me a promise, and what is the trouble?  What doth [what does] my Lord teach me to say here? Why [even in]  this -Thou wilt [You will] revive me.- I shall have more life, more energy, more faith. Is it not often so, that trouble revives us, like a breath of cold air when one is ready to faint?  How angry are my enemies and especially the arch-enemy!

Shall I stretch forth my hand and fight my foes?  No, my hand is better employed in doing service for my Lord. Besides, there is no need, for my God will use His far-reaching arm, and He will deal with them far better than I could if I were to try.  –

Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith [says] the Lord.-

He will with His own right hand of power and wisdom save me, and what more can I desire? Come, my heart, talk this promise over to thyself till thou canst [you can] use it as the song of thy [your] confidence, the solace [comfort] of thy loneliness. Pray to be revived thyself, and leave the rest with the Lord, who performeth [does] all things for thee [you].

Thank You Lord that Your confidence comes to us with the knowledge that You will save us from our angry enemies. I ask for this In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, amen

MORNING May 22nd   "HE LED THEM FORTH BY THE RIGHT WAY." —Psalm 107:7

—Dirigiólos por camino derecho  —Salmos 107:7

CHANGEFUL experience [Going through changes] often leads the anxious believer to enquire "Why is it this way with me?" I looked for light, but lo  [instead], darkness came; for peace, but see only trouble. I said in my heart, my mountain stands firm, I shall never be moved. Lord, You hide Your face, and I am troubled. It was but yesterday that I could read my title clear; [have confidence in You and faith in my inheritance]  today my evidences are dimmed and my hopes are clouded. Yesterday I could climb to [Mt.] Pisgah's top, and view the landscape o'er [over], and rejoice with confidence in my future inheritance; today, my spirit has no hopes, but many fears; no joys, but much distress. Is this part of God's plan for me? Can this be the way in which God would bring me to heaven? Yes, it is even so. The eclipse of your faith, the darkness of your mind, the fainting of your hope, all these things are but parts of God's method of making you ripe for the great inheritance you shall soon receive. These trials are for the testing and strengthening of your faith—they are waves that wash you further upon the rock—they are winds which waft  [carry] your ship the more swiftly toward the desired haven. According to David's words, so it might be said of you, "so He brings them to their desired haven." By honor and dishonor, by evil report and by good report, by plenty and by poverty, by joy and by distress, by persecution and by peace, by all these things the life of your soul is maintained, and by each of these you are helped on your way. Oh, think not, believer, that your sorrows are out [not a part]  of God's plan; they are necessary parts of it. "We must, through much tribulation, enter the kingdom." Learn, then, even to "count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations."

O let my trembling soul be still,
And wait [for] Thy wise, Thy holy will!
I cannot, Lord, Thy purpose see,
Yet all is well since ruled by Thee.

EVENING May 22nd "BEHOLD, THOU ART FAIR, MY BELOVED. "
Song of Solomon 1:16

—He aquí que tú eres hermoso, amado mío —Cantares 1:16

FROM every point [angle] our Well-beloved [Jesus] is most fair. Our various experiences are meant by our heavenly Father to furnish fresh viewpoints from which we may see the loveliness of Jesus; how amiable are our trials when they carry us aloft where we may gain clearer views of Jesus than ordinary life could give us! We have seen Him from the top of  [Mount] Amana, from the top of  [Mount] Shenir and  [Mount] Hermon, and He has shone upon us as the sun in his strength. But we have seen Him also "from the lions' dens, from the mountains of the leopards," and He has lost none of His loveliness. From the languishing [suffering] of a sick bed, from the borders of the grave, have we turned our eyes to our soul's spouse, and He has never been otherwise than "all fair." Many of His saints have looked upon Him from the gloom of dungeons, and from the red flames of the stake [being burned alive], yet have they never uttered an ill word of Him, but have died extolling His surpassing charms. Oh, noble and pleasant employment to be forever gazing at our sweet Lord Jesus!  Is it not unspeakably delightful to view the Savior in all His offices, and to perceive Him matchless in each, and then to shift the kaleidoscope, as it were, and find fresh combinations of peerless graces? In the manger [feed trough in the stable] and in eternity, on the cross and on His throne, in the garden and in His kingdom, among thieves or in the midst of cherubim [angles], He is everywhere "altogether lovely." Examine carefully every little act of His life, and every trait of His character, and He is as lovely in the minute [smallest considerations] as [well as] in the majestic. Judge Him as you will, you cannot censure [find a valid criticism]; weigh Him as you please, and He will not be found wanting [missing anything]. Eternity will not discover the shadow of a spot in our Beloved, but rather, as ages revolve, His hidden glories will shine forth with yet more inconceivable splendor, and His unutterable loveliness will more and more ravish [give rapturous pleasure to] all celestial [heavenly] minds.

This video presents historical evidence explaining the explosion of over 100 published  English versionsof the Bible. This continuing attempt to replace, add or take away from the 1769 King James Version of the Holy Bible do notprevail because GOD Himself preserves and protects His Holy Scripture from all heresy, blasphemy, confusion and error.

Note: The King James Version does follow the Greek text of the Textus Receptus, but a Greek Text fabricated by Westcott and Hort and is therefore inferior to the trustworthy 1769 [1611] King James Version, theKJV!

Jesus Christ [Messiah] (Anointed King)] the LORD GOD was born of a virgin 2026 years ago,           was crucified, then rose from the dead, victorious over sin, death and the grave and is here in the flesh from GOD as His Church, The Body of Christ and will live forever, time without end and   He, Himself, is coming again.

A.D. did not and does NOT mean “After Death” as many erroneously now think. It actually abbreviates  Anno Domini,  a  Latin phrase adopted into English that literally means  “Year of our Lord”.  It has been used together with B.C. Before Christ   for centuries.

B.C.E  is not a synonym for B.C. (Before Christ)]  It is not the same thing. Not even close.

B.C.E. / C.E  or   B.C. /A.D.  What’s the difference?

B.C.E. (BEFORE COMMON ERA [or  BEFORE CURRENT ERA] ― Anything to avoid all reference or mention of anything CHRISTIAN by atheist and anti-Christians and to remove A.D. [Anno Domini] and  B.C. [Before Christ] from being used.

The argument here, claims to have a neutral point of view that would remove all reference to Jesus Christ by omitting the use of A.D Ano Domini and B.C. Before ChristThis argument brings forward a faulty if not egregious hypothesis.  Without consideration of a person’s religious views analysis of the hypothesis of a neutral point of view (NPOV) must be made.

What is A NEUTRAL point of view?  Such a fool’s errand would argue that a point of view could set forth a valid, genuine, authentic and simultaneously  be neutral. What?  This defies logic. A neutral point of view, were it possible, is no point of view at all. Rather, it’s  illogical and by applying simple common sense, impossible.  Anytime a point of view is combined, confused or blended with another one so that the properties are clouded, weakened or confused the actual definite and certain POV is lost and any rational adherence or support for it is now moot.   A Neutral point of view exists only in  the imagination of those who prefer confusion to a true, authentic, genuine, robust and proven point of a verifiable fact.

A neutral point of view, were it possible, would be, at best,  illogical, unattainable,  indefensible and irresponsible. The king of oxymorons.

Therefore, the mere consideration of an imagined but impossible and unattainable neutral point of view (NPOV) is ludicrous.  A point of view cannot be NEUTRAL. An authentic point of view cannot be neutral, or ambiguous, but must clearly advance a singular, definite and certain  point of view (POV).  It cannot be both a  POV and neutral.   A neutral point of view is a logical impossibility.  A neutral (POV), were it possible, would ignore the historical fact of Jesus Christ’s birth. The pretense of seeking a neutral point of view  is therefore misleading and  disingenuous.

The Lord Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh,
was born of a virgin  2025 years ago.
He’s  alive  today, has always existed as God’s eternal and everlasting Word,
and will soon return for his bride, the Church
[The body of all redeemed believers in Jesus Christ].

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,
believed on in the world, received up into glory.

1 Timothy  3:16

Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: for I am God and there is none else.

Isaiah 45:22

You are invited to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior and Lord and to follow Him in believer’s baptism.

Jesus came from Galilee  to Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist. But, John forbad [refused] Him and said, “I have need to be baptized of You and [yet] you are coming to me?” [for baptism]  And Jesus answering him said, “Suffer it to be so [Do it] now: for thus it becometh us [is beautifully fitting and expected of us] to fulfil all righteousness.”

Baptism is not a requirement for salvation but it is the willing desire of all believers to demonstrate agreement and consistency with  the righteousness of preaching Repentance and Baptism by John the Baptist and obedience to the scriptural teaching.  The issue of baptism is therefore not an issue of salvation but of obedience and of fulfilling all righteousness.

Worshiping Him in Spirit and in truth will spring-up and be manifested in a sense of gratitude.  Such worship can come through prayer, Bible reading, scriptural meditation and study. Fellowship in a local church body, hearing gospel preaching and singing of sacred hymns and spiritual songs are also acts of worship and reflects an active discipleship.

To this purpose, DailySpurgeon,  is offered as a reliable, dependable and effective resource.

It is not intended, were it possible to take the place of fellowship or congregational worship in a local body of believers.

“Study to show yourself  approved unto God, a worker that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing [accurately comprehending and sharing] the word of truth.”   2 Timothy 2:15

Trusting in and following the Lord Jesus Christ is our chief purpose. We trust Him for salvation, guidance, strength and our eternal destiny according to His perfect will.  We follow Him in soul winning through DailySpurgeon  or any other instrumentality He may choose.   We invite and encourage non-believers to turn away from sin, look to Him and be saved.  We trust that believers (old and new) will benefit from its use knowing that He will sustain, guide and build us up as we are conformed to His image by the power of the Holy Spirit.

DailySpurgeon  is a collection of devotional thoughts, prayers and encouragement by Charles Haddon Spurgeon, revealing God’s Word. Sermons from The Metropolitan Tabernacle and sacred music of worship and praise are included to strengthen personal dedication and spiritual edification.

SERMON:  The Metropolitan Tabernacle  (Charles Spurgeon 1834-1892)

The Strategy of Resurrection   John Ch. 20    with Dr. Peter Masters, Pastor

It is clear the resurrection was completely unexpected by the disciples. Here is how it came, first by gentle intimation, then with a caution, then as a proof of Christ's successful atonement, and then as a command to trust in the living Lord.

Mission Statement

The aim of this work is to save souls, strengthen and encourage believers in the Word, proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ as we serve those in need. We believe the Bible is God’s revealed Word and that through His Word He guides us as individuals and as a local body of believers.

We are resolved, God helping us, to study, meditate and pray to rightly divide God’s revealed Word holding it as the final authority in all things.

The purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to make known the Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ to every creature. We aim to love the brethren, win souls, and  build-up of the Body of Christ, [The Universal Church of true believers].  We purpose to publish the Good News of Jesus Christ and to proclaim (preach) HIM everywhere.  We purpose also to serve everyone, especially those in the household of faith..
We believe the Bible is God’s everlasting, inspired (God breathed) Word.  By His Word He guides us individually and corporately through His local Church.
God’s Word [The Bible] is the driving essence of all our work. To this end we annotate and reprint, unabridged, the sermons and publications from The Holy Bible that were preached and    taught through Charles Haddad Spurgeon.

This body of inspired work was created by Spurgeon 1834-1892 and has been widely published and preached to this present time.  He was Pastor and founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle  in London, England (Still flourishing TODAY) Still preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  [Click this blue link to hear live, contemporary and traditional preaching brought by the Internet from broadcasts from Dr. Peter Masters, the current Metropolitan Tabernacle minister for over 30 years].

Prayer: Dear Lord, May this endeavor  be effective and thrive in winning souls,
and may we also be loving and compassionate as we  encourage and comfort  all who
are needy, especially to those who are in the household of faith, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
Disclaimer: These mailing are not intended to attract praise for or exalt  the Lord’s servant, and founding minister of the Metropolitan Tabernacle Charles H. Spurgeon. He didn’t need it and wouldn’t have wanted it.  Rather, it is offered as an encouragement, for seekers and believers who read, meditate on, pray-over and desire to obey through the power of The Holy Spirit, God’s inspired [God breathed] inerrant, revealed, immutable Word, the Bible.
Precaution: These devotional messages and prayers are not offered or intended to substitute for walking in the bright sunlight of continual companionship [communion, fellowship] in love with the Lord Jesus Christ [The Messiah]. Neither should they be substituted for reading, meditating on, praying and fasting over God's Word; (KJV, Authorized Version is  recommended) that reveals His unspeakable Love to all the world.   John 3:16
Printed Prayer:  Should not be read or offered as a substitute for personal, fervent, effectual, heart-felt, prayer. It  is intended rather, to touch and warm the hearts of those who presently seek a season of fervent, authentic two-way, heart-to-heart  fellowship and prayer  with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit.
Preaching Preparation:  If you are studying or preparing a message from a specific, Biblical text, Please inform us so that we may  send you a Sermon from Mr. Spurgeon on the message, precept and application most closely aligned.
Our Prayer: Our Father, who art in Heaven,  Please  touch, lift up, encourage and teach

this reader right now .  Bless all who minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May Your blessings

and holy anointing fall fresh and continually upon each one who rightly divides and faithfully

proclaims Your Word [The Bible] to every living creature. Please save many souls; and be

glorified in everything You do In the name of our Redeemer, The Lord Jesus Christ,  Amen

Can You trust this website?

Is it of God?

Is it trustworthy?

1 John  Chapter 4

Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everything you hear] but [continually] be testing the spirit whether it is of God: because many false prophets have come out in the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesseth [confesses, says] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come out of God, is of God: and every spirit [voice] that confesseth not [doesn't confess] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Hence, I confess [declare and affirm] "Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh."

GOD’S WORD made Flesh [Jesus Christ]  has existed from eternity past and shall exist [FOREVER] as the  immutable WORD of God.    John 1:1-2

He was born of a virgin 2,024 years ago in Bethlehem, the WORD made flesh,

is alive today, and is coming soon for His *bride, the Church

[*All redeemed believers].

"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:

God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,

believed on in the world, received up into glory."

1 Timothy 3:16

Let me invite you to trust in  the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord and to publicly confess [declare] Him as such before men [publicly]. He will therefore be able to acknowledge and confess you before His Father in Heaven. He is The God of Abraham. Isaac and Jacob. Following your public confession, You also invited to follow Him in believer’s baptism by immersion.

Jesus came from Galilee t o Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist. But, John forbad [refused] Him and said, “I have need to be baptized of You and [yet] you are coming to me?” [for baptism] And Jesus answering him said, “Suffer it to be so [Allow this]: for thus it becometh [is fitting and right for] us to fulfil all righteousness.”

 Matthew 3:15

Baptism is not required for salvation. Remember, what Jesus said to the thief on the cross, who acknowledged Jesus’ innocence and said to him:

“Remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

And then, Jesus said to him:

“Verily [Truly] I say to you, Today you shall be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43

Baptism pictures the Lord’s death, burial  and resurrection and the believer’s new birth.

It bears witness with John the Baptist who preached that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand and exhorted Repentance from sin and the Baptism of atonement. Therefore, the act of baptism is not required for salvation but it is an act of obedience to fulfil all righteousness.

Matthew 3:15

Romans 6:3-5:

3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.

Life’s Greatest Mental Block   John 7:6   with Dr. Peter Masters

The scribes of Christ's day were accomplished men, but a strange fog clouded their reaction to Him. Though amazed at Him and His teaching, they refused to listen. Here is why, and how the same mental block shuts off many from God today.

Jesus Christ [Messiah- Anointed King]  has always existed, from eternity past [FOREVER] as the WORD of God.    John 1:1-2

And He was born of a virgin 2,024 years ago in Bethlehem, the WORD made flesh,

is alive today, and is coming soon for His *bride, the Church

[*All redeemed believers].

"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:

God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,

believed on in the world, received up into glory."

1 Timothy 3:16

You’re invited to receive the Lord Jesus Christ [The Messiah] as your Savior and Lord and to publicly confess your trust in Him so He  will then be able to acknowledge you before His Father, The God of Abraham. Isaac and Jacob. Jesus answered him and  said, “Suffer it to be so [to let this happen]: for thus it becometh [is in accord with] us to fulfil all righteousness.”

 Matthew 3:15

Baptism is not required for salvation. Remember, Jesus said to the thief on the cross, who acknowledged Jesus’ innocence and said to him.

“Remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

And Jesus said to him,

“Verily [Truly] I say to you, Today you shall be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43

The act of Baptism pictures the Lord’s death, burial  and resurrection and the believer’s death to self, burial, and resurrection to walk in newness of life.

It bears witness to the preaching of John the Baptist who preached that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand and exhorted Repentance from sin and the Baptism of atonement. Therefore, the act of baptism is not required for salvation but as John preached it is is to be followed to fulfil all righteousness

Thank You LORD for dailyspurgeon.com  a website that  proclaims Jesus, the Christ [Messiah and Anointed King] to all the world .

This website ministry grew from a beginning of sending e-mails from  Charles Spurgeon’s  Faith’s Checkbook a book of daily promises from Scripture  to John Michael’s son, Jon Edward Riley (1971- 2021). When Jon shared them with others, they asked to be added to this mailing list. This mailing list grew to over 400 and  continues to be used in the  distribution of  the website content  Our prayer is that it will continue to encourage followers of Jesus Christ in vigorous  personal devotions of  Love, obedience and oneness with Jesus Christ through the study of and obedience to GOD’S WORD empowered by the Holy Ghost.

Devotional contents  by Charles Spurgeon are brought together daily at dailyspurgeon.com

These devotional contents were written and calendared by Charles Spurgeon over 200 years ago yet  continue to have a significant relevance today.

We pray that many lost souls will be born-again and then be built-up in the Faith of Jesus Christ. May God sustain, guide and protect this ministry begun with John Michael’s  beloved son, Jon Edward Riley (1971-2021)  honored here as one to whom honor is due.

Jon Edward loved to say,

“I’m a blood-bought, born-again child of God.”

…then, he would tell them about JESUS and his love. John 3:16

Is   dailyspurgeon.com   trustworthy?

Is it true?     Is it of God?

We should apply the following Scripture to everything we hear/read to discern whether what we are  hearing or reading is of God and therefore whether or not it should be believed.

1 John 4:1-3  Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [word] you hear but be testing the spirits [words] whether they are of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Here’s how you know if it is the Spirit [voice]  of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come from God, is of God:  and every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Therefore beloved, we must test every voice [written or spoken]  to discern whether it is from God or not. By applying these scripture verses we can determine with certainty if the scriptural standard that protects believers from believing false prophets has been met.   We can thereby identify false witnesses and determine not to believe or follow them.  The voice [spirit] being tested should not be believed unless it confesses [states]  that…

“Jesus Christ is here, in the flesh having come from God .”

Two Greek manuscripts that were cobbled together by Westcott & Hort and Nestle & Aland do not make this confession nor do they follow the Textus Receptus  rendered from 5,321 extant Greek manuscripts,  which  agree overwhelmingly with each other  known as as the Majority Text. The 5,321  Majority Text is the source from which the trusted Textus Receptus was rendered.

Instead, these two purveyors of their own Greek texts that they invented by hand picking only 55 of the 5,321extant Greek manuscripts. When these 55 Manuscripts did not address the text being translated, they inserted their own invented and imagined Greek text.

Their invented Greek translation  presented variant  readings different than the Textus Receptus [Received Text] in many places. One example  from 1 John, Chapter 4 where  all English translations other than the King James version overlook the original Greek verb “ictin” [To be] [is] (third person singular) that is translated in substantially all Majority Texts MT and  subsequently in the Textus Receptus [Received Text] and therefore have failed to correctly translate  the Greek verb  as, “Is come” [Is here].  (correctly Translated from the Textus Receptus [Received Text (TR)]  in the King James Version)

This  error occurs  because the  modern critical Greek text, created by Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Alland DO NOT follow the  MT [Majority Texts] of 5,321 Greek manuscripts that  affirm substantial agreement with one another.   The TR  [Textus Receptus] is rendered from an overwhelming agreement found among the Majority Text of 5,321 primary Greek manuscript sources.

Both Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Alland ignore the verb “is”, from their invented  Greek text and place “has come” instead.

This error may be legally described as res ipsa loquitur a latin phrase that means “the thing speaks for itself”.

Therefore, the Greek  inventions generated by these two sources are not actually translations, even though they are introduced as translations, but actually  represent their own  Greek language inventions unsupported by the reliability of the Majority Texts and the Textus Receptus.

How do we know?

We know because both  non-believers and false prophets assert that Jesus Christ
“has come” in the flesh. Practically anyone  can make this confession as the  birth of Jesus Christ is considered by historians to be the most well documented fact in all of human history.

That He has come is generally acknowledged by nonbelievers and believers alike.   However, here’s the point. There is a huge difference in meaning between “Has come” and “Is Here”. “Has come” is woefully short of the essential and clear meaning of the confession “Is Here”.

Just because something “has come” it can not be assumed, inferred or deduced that it also “is here”.

The “has come” assertion is made in all translations based on the Critical Text.  It’s not, per se, a false statement. Jesus Christ has indeed come in the flesh. However, it  falls short of  presenting the test  to discern whether the sprit [voice] being tested [tried] is from God or from false prophets or teachers that come in the spirit of antichrist.

Again, the expression “has come” rather than  “is come” [is here]  is not, per se, a false statement.

However, it fails to deliver a valid way to discern, true from false. The failure here  to establish a logical and rhetorically sound rubric to judge  the question of whether spirits [words] are from God or from false prophets and the spirit of antichrist is absent if “has come” is  the standard used.

Actually, “has come” is such a wide-spread belief held to be historically true by all, yet, it does not provide a sound standard to discern whether a spirit [spoken or written words]  are from God or the spirit of Antichrist.

Almost anyone [or any spirit] can declare that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. But as you see, this does not resolve the issue of whether something should or should not be believed as true or followed. Why?  Once again,  because almost anyone can and often does confess that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. But, his is an insufficient standard. The standard must be whether the confession that Jesus is here  alone, gives an efficacious standard to discern truth from error.

Again, while it is  true that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh, this alone is inadequate to discern truth from error. “Has come” does not mean the same thing as “is come [is here],  from God, in the flesh” and therefore fails to be efficacious for true spiritual discernment.

Further, as we  compare  Scripture with  scripture in 1 John 4:1-3 and  Ephesians 5:30-32

we comprehend God’s message regarding  the body of Jesus Christ  being in the Flesh vis-à-vis The Body of Christ, The Corporate Church.

Compare Scripture with Scripture:  1 John 4:1-3   with Ephesians 5:30-32

1 John 4:1-3  Authorized (King James) Version

4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Ephesians 5:30-32
Authorized (King James) Version

30 for we are members of his [Jesus Christ’s]  body,  of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning  Christ and the church.

[So, we are flesh and bone members of His body, We are] one flesh with Him,  The Body of Christ is (In the flesh); and is the incarnate Body of believers.

He was born of a virgin 2026 years ago and He’s alive today.

He’s coming again  soon,  for His bride; the Church [Blood-bought, Born-again members of His body].

When a believer considers the fact that they are members of the body of Christ [The Church] , they will see and acknowledge that…

“Jesus Christ is here,  in the flesh,” because  We are the Body of Christ; The Church, in the flesh!

Amen.

THE BEST BIBLE TRANSLATION:

Why KING JAMES is Best  by Steven Houck

Even though [it is said that the] King James Version has its weaknesses, it is an excellent translation and by far the best version available today. We must not be taken in by the modern versions and their claims. Our 400 years old Bible is to be preferred above all others because it is better than them all.

1) It was translated by men who are unsurpassed in their knowledge of Biblical studies.

2) The translators were pious men of God who believed in the inspiration of the Holy Scriptures.

3) It is the mature fruit of generations of English translations as well as the careful work of its translators.
4) The King James Version is based upon the Received Text rather than the critical Greek text of modern versions. [vis. Sinaiticus and Vaticanus.]
5) It is a word-for-word translation which faithfully and accurately reflects the originals [of the Majority Texts, MT].

6) The language is one of reverence and respect which gives honor [and greater glory] to the majesty of its Author.

7) Of all the English versions of today, it alone is the Bible of the Reformation.

8) Our spiritual forefathers thought so highly of it that they were willing to suffer and even die for it.

9) It is the version which has been recognized for generations and generations as the Bible God has given to His English-speaking Church.

The 10th reason why it is best  is added here by DailySpurgeon.com

10) The 1611 KJV is the work of 54 translators selected and organized into seven companies. (2), from Westminster (2), from Cambridge, (2), from Oxford and (1)  from London. The work was done openly allowing each company to receive inquiries or comments during the course of the work.  When an issue of disagreement arose, it was addressed in Prayer and discussion was continued until the difference was resolved unanimously and without objection.

Commitment to the Word of God

Long before the Conservative Resurgence, Dr. R.G. Lee was the Southern Baptist champion of biblical infallibility and inerrancy. In his sermon, “The Word of God – Not Broken and Not Bound,” first published in 1930, Dr. Lee proclaimed, “All who wrote are immortalized by their writing of this great Book [The Holy Bible],

… “supernatural in origin, divine in authorship, human in penmanship, infallible in authority, infinite in scope, universal in interest, personal in application, regenerative in power, inspired [God breathed] in totality.”

Dr Robert G. Lee preached a sermon (click here)  Payday Someday   over 1,000 times and was the Senior Pastor of one of the first Megachurches, Bellevue Baptist Church, Memphis, Tennessee,

THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS by John Bunyan

The Pilgrim Progress is the world’s most widely published and most famous  Allegory .  It was commonly found among he scant possessions in the cabins of the early American Pioneers. It was loved and read, second only to the Holy Bible, God’s Word, of guidance, encouragement and comfort. It’s also considered, by some, to be the world’s first English novel and is the most published book of all time. other than the Bible. There were 1,300 editions printed before 1938, 250 years after the author's death. It remains one of the world’s most famous books.  In allegorical genre, it is unequalled.

Pilgrim’s Progress is referenced in many Spurgeon Sermons.

Here's one example:

Christ in you, the hope of glory.”—Colossians 1:27

Note: Spurgeon was taught to read at a very early age and read The Pilgrim’s Progress for the first time when he was six years old. He would return to re-read it over 100 times.  He made many reference to it in his sermons as Pastor of  The Metropolitan Tabernacle in London.

Excerpt from Sermon:  II. § 5 THE SWEETNESS OF THIS MYSTERY, WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU

"Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me [Spurgeon] of Mr. Bunyan’s picture in The Pilgrim’s Progress. of [the town of] Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams [ancient weapons of war] had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [melodies], for the king himself was come. Up to the castle of the heart [main castle] he rode in triumph, and took his royal throne to be henceforth the sole lord and king of the city.

Christ in you is a right royal word. Christ swaying his scepter from the center of your being over every power and faculty, desire and resolve, bringing every thought into captivity to himself, oh, this is glory begun, and the sure pledge of heaven. Oh for more of the imperial sovereignty of Jesus; it is our liberty to be absolutely under his sway.

It will bless, strengthen, encourage and instruct pilgrims (readers and seekers) of all ages for a life-time.

Index of the 533 Scripture References cited in The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan  1687

John Bunyan did not write or set forth any world view of any kind. His masterful allegory, demonstrably displays that God's Word does not support a world view at all but sets forth God’s view on every thing revealed and forever settled in heaven, The Holy Bible.

________________________________________

Bunyan merely, yet ardently, trusted in God’s Word; the God-breathed [divinely inspired], Self-authenticating, Providentially-protected immutable, inerrant, infallible, and inextinguishable written Word from GOD Himself. God, the omnipotent, omnipresent, righteous and Holy One, has breathed out His Word and has made His Word flesh in the birth of Jesus Christ. God’s Word is now, has always been and will forever be in perfect accord with Himself and the Spirit of Truth.

God’s infinite Love and Grace to redeem all fallen, hell-bound sinners who will look to Him is revealed by the sacrifice of His only begotten [fathered by God] Son, Jesus Christ.

The story inspiration given to Bunyan was in the form of a dream. Never the less, it imparts wisdom and may encourage soul-searching self-reflection to all pilgrims who seek redemption and eternal life. Many scripture references will  be captured and remembered from its reading [listening].

Thou didst Thyself [You did yourself] hang out the lights of mercy that we might know the way home, and Thy [Your] dear Son himself came down to seek us. Blessed was that day when Thou didst strike [You struck] the blow of grace — the effectual blow. Then didst Thou wither up [Then You made to wither]  our comeliness [attractiveness] and all our perfection was rolled in the dust. We saw ourselves to be slain [condemned to death] by the law, to be lost, ruined, and undone, and then we rolled to and fro in the tempests of our thoughts [mind boggled] and staggered like drunken men, and were at our wits’ end — then did we cry unto Thee [You] in our trouble, and blessed be Thy [Your] name for ever, Thou didst [You did] deliver us.  O happy day (Click to play) that sealed our pardon with the precious blood of Jesus accepted by faith. . [Thank You in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.] (Complete Prayer is attached in e-mail as: PRAYER 20.doc)

Anecdote 291: Sing:   The Stream of Mercy (Come Thy Fount) Click to play .

Faith’s Checkbook C.H. Spurgeon – 1834- 1892

MAY 22   SONG OF CONFIDENCE

-Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me - Psalm 138:7

-Si anduviere yo en medio de la angustia, tu me vivificaras: Contra la ira de mis enemigos extenderas tu mano, Y salvarame tu diestra - Salmos 138:7

Wretched walking [it is] in the midst of trouble.  Nay, [No it s not], [it s ]  blessed walking, since there is a special promise for it. Besides, there is no need, for my God will use His far-reaching arm,

and He will deal with them far better than I could if I were to try.  -Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith [says] the Lord.-  He will with His own right hand of power and wisdom save me, and what more can I desire? Come [on], my heart, talk this promise over to thyself till thou canst [you can] use it as the song of thy [your] confidence, the solace [comfort] of thy loneliness. Pray to be revived thyself, and leave the rest with the Lord, who performeth [does] all things for thee [you].

Thank You Lord that Your confidence comes to us with the knowledge that You will save us [blood bought believers] from our angry enemies. I ask for this In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, amen.   Please send names or email addresses  of those who would like to receive these daily messages.

"He led them forth by the right way." —Psalm 107:7

Tuesday   EVENING       May 22

"Behold, Thou art fair, my Beloved. " —Song of Solomon 1:16
—He aquí que tú eres hermoso, amado mío —Cantares 1:16

FROM every point [every angle] our Well-beloved [Jesus] is most fair.

A SINNER’S PRAYER:   … FOR WHOSOEVER WILL: [For One and all]

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved     … pray like this, won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am hopeless.  I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross for my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned to Hell. I have been  self-centered from birth.  Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m guilty and sorry for each and every sin I have done and look to You to forgive me of them all.
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You,  Lord Jesus, right now to save me.  You died on the cross for me, because of my sin  and You say,  “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21.

Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me,  I trust You, to  be my Lord and Savior from now on.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins.  I ask You to abide in me and give me the desire to always follow You.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross.  Even the sins of the whole world.

Thank you,  Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me even before I was born and that You still love me now. I love You too.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You have called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting  in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. Romans  8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [Holy Ghost, Comforter, Spirit of Truth]

Thank You for saving me heavenly Father. With all my heart, thank you Father for saving me in Jesus’ name,  Amen.

Allow us to share the joy of your new birth with heaven. Won’t you? Heaven rejoices over each redeemed sinner. Luke 15:7

These titles are from the inspired body of work created from the preaching and writing of Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892. He created an unexcelled  legacy of gospel preaching and exposition and is known as the “Prince of Preachers”.  Spurgeon has been and is today widely read with great benefit from the 1800’s to this present time. He is the beloved founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England (Thriving TODAY through the faithful preaching of the Gospel and the Sacred Worship of Jesus the Christ [Messiah].)

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please be blessed by the winning of many souls, and give us love and compassion toward all who are in need, especially those in the household of faith. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and for His sake, Amen.

Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not praise or exalt  Charles H. Spurgeon above or beyond the honor due him. He didn’t need or want it when he was here on earth and would have no need or desire for it now, in Heaven. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM and Him crucified.

Precaution: These Devotional Messages and prayers alone will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus. Neither do they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word. (The King James version (KJV), also known also as the Authorized Version (AKJV), is the preferred English Bible because its accuracy and fidelity to the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text) avoid doctrinal and editorial weakness found in many contemporary editions.

Written Prayers by Spurgeon must not be offered as a substitute for personal, intimate fervent, heart-felt, prayer. They are rather intended to warm the hearts of those who are seeking a season of authentic two-way, heart-to-heart  fellowship and prayer with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit.  Brooke Foss Westcott and Fenton John Anthony Hort  (Text only)

URL:   https://www.febc.edu.sg/v15/article/def_the_INSIDE STORY_of_westcott_and_hort

In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:

* Letters from close relatives are quoted in the Inside Story above

The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,

thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on a defective text. Those who want to honor the Word of God must not promote the use of any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is entirely  evil in itself, but because being contented to use a weakened version rather than the existing, preserved without error unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has preserved for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it would be to Him if His people now chose instead to use versions that are  based on  defective Greek manuscript  created by Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland.

Let the biblical story of Nadab and Abihu be a lesson for us all:

And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp. So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said. And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled” (Lev 10:1–6).
