PRAYER 24, June 28th Part 3 of 11 DELIVER US FROM EVIL

Wash us yet again. And when we ask for this washing, it is not because, we doubt the efficacy [success] of former cleansing. Then we were washed in blood. Now, O Savior, repeat upon us what Thou didst [You did] to the twelve when Thou didst [You did] take a towel and basin and wash their feet. And when that was done, Thou didst [You did] tell them that he who had been washed had no need save but [except] to wash His [Jesus’] feet. After that [washing Jesus’ feet] was done, he [the disciple] was clean every whit [bit]. Oh! let Thy children be in that condition this morning

— clean, every whit [bit] —

and may they [we] know it; and thus [therefore] being clean, may they [we] have boldness to enter into the Holy of Holies by the blood of [Jesus] Christ; and may they [we] now come and stand where the cherubim [angles] once were, where the glory still shines forth.

And may we pour out our prayers and praises before a blood-besprinkled mercy seat, ourselves washed and cleansed.

What a look was that which the Lord gave to Gideon! He looked him out of his discouragements into a holy bravery. If our look to the Lord saves us, what will not [what won’t] His look at us do?

Lord, look on me this day, and nerve [encourage] me for its duties and conflicts.

What a word was this which Jehovah spoke to Gideon!

- Go. -

He must not hesitate. He might have answered,

-What? go in all this weakness!-

But the Lord put that word [“weakness” ] out of court [into insignificance] by saying,

-Go in this thy might.-

The Lord had looked might [by His gaze] into him, and he had now nothing to do but to use it, and save Israel by smiting [slaying] the Midianites.

It may be that the Lord has more to do by me than I ever dreamed of. If [Because] He has looked upon me He has made me strong. Let me by faith exercise the power with which He has entrusted me.

He never bids me [asks me to]

-idle away my time in this my might.- Far from it.

I must -go,- because He strengthens me. What a question is that which the Lord puts to me even as He put it to Gideon!

-Have not I sent thee?-

Yes, Lord, thou hast sent me, and I will go in thy strength.

At thy command I go, and, going, I am assured that thou wilt [You will] conquer by me.

Prayer: Thank You Father, for Your strength and the victory You always bring when You look upon us, call us and send us into battle. We are empowered knowing that where You send, You will guide, sustain and give victory.

Look upon us and look after us today and always, in the name of [Jesus Christ] Your only begotten son I pray, Amen.

MORNING June 28th "LOOKING UNTO JESUS. "—Hebrews 12:2

IT is ever the Holy Spirit's work to turn our eyes away from self to Jesus; but Satan's work is just the opposite of this, for he is constantly trying to make us regard ourselves instead of Christ.

He [Satan] insinuates:

[He lies when he says]: "Your sins are too great for pardon; you have no faith; you do not repent enough; you will never be able to continue to the end; you have not the joy of His children; you have such a wavering hold [grasp] on Jesus."

All these are thoughts [lies] about self, and we will never find comfort or assurance by looking within.

But the Holy Spirit turns our eyes entirely away from self: He tells us that

we are nothing, but that

"Christ is all in all."

Remember, therefore, it is not your hold on Christ that saves you—it is Christ; [Christ hold on you, the hope of glory.] Colossians 1:27

it is not your joy in Christ that saves you—it is Christ;

it is not even faith in Christ, though that be the instrument—it is Christ's blood and merits;

therefore, look not so much to your hand [your efforts] with which you are grasping Christ,

as [but rather] to Christ [Himself];

look not to your hope,

but to Jesus, the source of your hope;

look not to your faith, but to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith.

We will never find happiness by looking at our prayers, our doings, or our feelings; it is

what Jesus is, not what we are, that gives rest to the soul.

If we would at once overcome Satan and have peace with God, it must be by

"looking unto Jesus."

Keep your eye simply on Him; let His death, His sufferings, His merits, His glories,

His intercession, be fresh on your mind;

when you wake in the morning look to Him; when you lie down at night look to Him. Oh! let not your hopes or fears come between you and Jesus;

follow hard [very closely] after Him, and He will never fail you.

My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less (Sing this, won’t you?)

My hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus' blood and righteousness:

I dare not trust the sweetest frame, [The best person you could ever find]

But wholly lean on Jesus' name.

EVENING June 28th "BUT AARON'S ROD SWALLOWED UP THEIR RODS. "
—Exodus 7:12

THIS incident is an instructive emblem of the sure victory of the divine handiwork over all opposition. Whenever a divine principle is cast [placed] into the heart, though the devil may fashion a counterfeit and produce swarms of opponents, as sure as ever God is in the work, it will swallow up all its foes [enemies].

If God's grace takes possession of a man, the world's magicians may throw down all their rods; and every rod may be as cunning and poisonous as a serpent, but

Aaron's rod will swallow up their rods.

The sweet attractions of the cross will woo [draw close] and win the man's heart, and he who lived only for this deceitful earth will now have an eye for the upper spheres [planets, stars], and a wing to mount into celestial heights.

When grace has won the day the worldling seeks the world to come. The same fact is to be observed in the life of the believer.

What multitudes of foes has our faith had to meet! Our old sins—the devil threw them down before us, and they turned into serpents. What hosts [what a large army] of them!

Ah, but the cross of Jesus destroys them all. Faith in Christ makes short work of all our sins. Then the devil has launched forth another host [army] of serpents in the form of worldly trials, temptations, unbelief; but faith in Jesus is more than a match for them, and overcomes them all.

The same absorbing principle shines in the faithful service of God! with an enthusiastic love for Jesus, difficulties are surmounted, [overcome] sacrifices become pleasures, sufferings are honors. But, if religion [our faith] is thus a consuming passion in the heart, then it follows that

there are many persons who profess religion [faith in Jesus] but have it not [don’t have it]; for what they have will not bear [pass] this test.

Examine yourself, my reader, on this point. Aaron's rod proved its heaven-given power.

Is your religion [Your Faith] doing so?

If Christ be anything, He must be everything.

Rest not until love and faith in Jesus be the master [strongest] passions of your soul!

WHO IS THE GOD OF THE BIBLE?

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF HIS NAME?

(1 One) His Name is INCOMPREHENSIBLE!

Exodus 3:13-15 “13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? 14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. 15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.”

The Critical Text vs. The Traditional Text

So, Dr. Sorenson, “I hear You are King James Only.”

No, I’m Traditional Text only. But if you come to the view and the conviction of being Traditional Text only, you will be Only King James.

The issue is not translational.

Marketing ploys by publishing companies with little basis in reality would have us to believe that the new versions are:

Easier to read.
More modern.
More accurate (Not true)

The truth is that the KJV remains The most popular. (is still the most popularly read Bible in America). Over five billion copies of the King James (1769) is greater than all the other versions and editions combined.

The issue comes down to the textual issue. By That, I refer to the underlying Greek text. I guess we could say texts, plural but particularly that of the New Testament. On the one hand is the Traditional Text from which the only major English translation is the King James Version of the Bible. The Traditional Text.

On the other hand, is the Critical Text sometimes called the eclectic text from whence all the other translations come. And some will say well there really is no difference between them. The difference you could amount to is just the footnotes in the bottom of a page. (This is Not true) He was not dishonest but just repeating what someone had told him.
