A SINNER’S PRAYER
SELECTIONS:
PRAYER 7, Part 5 of 7 LET ALL THE PEOPLE PRAISE THEE.
Our heart knows the Father’s love, for we have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, “Abba [Dadda, Daddy] Father” And we joy and rejoice in the redemption of our spirits, and we expect the redemption of our bodies, when, at the coming of the Lord they too shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
O Jesus, Thou wilt [will] bring Thy Israel out of Egypt, and not a hoof [not one head of livestock] shall be left behind; no, not a bone, nor a piece of Thine elect shall be left in the hand adversary [enemy]. We shall come out clean, delivered by Him, Who doeth [does] nothing by halves [half-way], but Who on the cross said,
“It is finished.”
Who much more will say it on His throne:
Glory be unto Father, Son and Holy Ghost, Who hath lifted us up from our ruin and condemnation, and made us new creatures, and justified us, and guaranteed us eternal life, which eternal life shall be manifested at the coming of the Lord.
All glory be unto His ever blessed name for ever and ever!
And now, Lord, during the few days that remain to us here below, be it all our business to cry,
“Behold [Look!] the Lamb!”
Oh! teach these hearts to be always conscious of Thy love; and then these lips, that they may set out as best they can by Thy divine help; the matchless story of the Cross.
Oh! do give us to [let us] win many to Jesus; let us not be barren, [childless] but may we have to cry that we are the beloved of the Lord, and our offspring with us. May we have many spiritual offspring that shall go with us to the throne, that we may say before Him:
“I and the children that Thou hast given me.”
[In the name of the Lord Jesus, I pray] Amen.

ANECDOTE 188: Superficial Unbelief.
[Joseph] Addison tells us of a man who, on board ship in a storm, knelt down to pray, and expressed his firm belief in a God. When he got ashore someone laughed at him for it, and he challenged the man to a duel. They fought together, and the atheist fell, wounded. When the blood was flowing, he believed there was a God, and he began to cry to God with all his might to save him. The physician bound up the wound. The man put the question to him,
“Is it mortal?” [deadly?]
“No,” he says: “it is only a flesh wound.”
Then said the man,
“There is no God ; I am a thorough atheist.”
He believed in God when he thought he was going to die; the moment he felt himself better, he returned to his unbelief.
FAITH’S CHECKBOOK FEBRUARY 6 BLESSING IN THE CITY by C.H. Spurgeon
-If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, blessed shalt thou be in the city-Deuteronomy 28:2-3
-Y vendran sobre ti todas estas bendiciones, y te alcanzarán, cuando oyeres la voz de Jehova tu Dios. Bendito serás tu en la ciudad-. Deuteronomio 28:2-3
The city is full of care, and he who has to go there from day to day finds it to be a place of great wear and tear [stress]. It is full of noise, and stir, and bustle, and sore travail [hard work]: many are its temptations, losses, and worries. But to go there with the divine blessing takes off the edge of its difficulty; to remain there with that blessing is to find pleasure in its duties, and strength equal to its demands.
A blessing in the city may not make us great, but it will keep us good;
it may not make us rich, but it will preserve [keep] us honest. Whether we are porters, or clerks, or managers, or merchants, or magistrates, the city will afford us opportunities for usefulness.
It is good fishing where there are shoals [schools] of fish, and it is hopeful to work for our Lord amid the thronging crowds. We might prefer the quiet of a country life; but if called to town, we may certainly prefer it because there is room for our energies. Today let us expect good things because of this promise, and let our care be to have an open ear to the voice of the Lord, and a ready hand to execute His bidding [“Marching orders”].
Obedience brings the blessing.
-In keeping his commandments there is great reward.
Prayer: Thank you Lord that if we hear and obey Your voice we will be blessed in the city. Please keep this promise fresh in my heart and make me understand your will for me today. Give me wisdom and empower me to obey in Jesus name, I pray, Amen.
MORNING February 6
"Praying always." —Ephesians 6:18
-Orando en todo tiempo- Efesios 6:18
WHAT multitudes of prayers we have offered up from the first moment we learned to pray. Our first prayer was a prayer for ourselves;
we asked that God would have mercy upon us, and blot out our sin. He heard us. But when He had blotted out our sins like a cloud, then we had more prayers for ourselves. We have had to pray for sanctifying grace, for constraining and restraining grace.
We have been led to crave for a fresh assurance of faith, for the comfortable application of the promise, for deliverance in the hour of temptation, for help in the time of duty, and for relief in the day of trial. We have been compelled to go to God for our souls, as constant beggars asking for everything.
Bear witness, children of God, you have never been able to get anything for your souls elsewhere [anywhere else]. All the bread your soul has eaten has come down from heaven, and all the water it has drunk has flowed from the living rock—
Your soul has never grown rich in itself; it has always been a pensioner [depending] upon the daily bounty of God. Your prayers have ascended to heaven for a range of spiritual mercies all but infinite. Your wants were innumerable, and the supplies have been infinitely great; your prayers have been as varied as the mercies have been countless. Then have you not cause to say,
"I love the Lord, because He has heard the voice of my supplication [request] "?
For as your prayers have been many, so also have been God's answers to them. He has heard you in the day of trouble, has strengthened you, and helped you, even when you dishonored Him by trembling and doubting at the mercy seat.
Remember this, and let it fill your heart with gratitude to God, who has thus graciously heard your poor weak prayers. "Bless the Lord, O My Soul" and forget not all His benefits.
Sing: "Bless the Lord, O My Soul" (With the Gaither Congregation)… Won’t you?

EVENING February 6
"Pray one for another. "— James 5:16
-Rogad los unos por los otros- Santiago 5:16
AS an encouragement cheerfully to offer intercessory prayer, remember that
such prayer is the sweetest God ever hears,
for the prayer of Christ is of this character. In all the incense which our Great High Priest now puts into the golden censer, there is not a single grain for Himself.
His intercession must be the most acceptable of all supplications [prayers] —and the more our prayer is like Christ's, the sweeter it will be;
Thus, while petitions for ourselves will be accepted, our pleadings for others, having in them more of the fruits of the Spirit, more love, more faith, more brotherly kindness, will be, through the precious merits of Jesus, the sweetest oblation [prayer] that we can offer to God, the very fat [essence] of our sacrifice.
Remember, again, that intercessory prayer is exceedingly effectual.
What wonders it has wrought! [worked] The Word of God teems with [is full of] its marvelous deeds. Believer, you have a mighty engine in your hand,
use it well, use it constantly, use it with faith, and you will surely be a benefactor to your brethren. When you have the King's ear, speak to Him for the suffering members of His body. When you are favored to draw very near to His throne, and the King says to you,
"Ask, and I will give you whatever you want,"
let not your petitions be for yourself alone, but for the many who need His aid.
If you have grace at all, and are not an intercessor, that grace is at least a grain of mustard seed. You have just enough grace to float your soul clear from the quicksand, but you have no deep floods of grace, or else you would carry in your joyous barque [ship] a weighty cargo of the wants of others, and you would bring back from your Lord for them, rich blessings that might not have been obtained without you. [Your prayer for others]
Oh, let my hands forget their skill,
My tongue be silent, cold, and still,
This bounding heart forget to beat,
If I forget [to pray at] the mercy seat!
A SINNER’S PRAYER: … FOR WHOSOEVER: [One and all]
Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved … pray like this, won’t you?
“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am hopeless. I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross for my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned to Hell. I have been self-centered from birth. Please forgive me.
I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m guilty and sorry for each and every sin I have done and look to You to forgive me of them all.
I look to You, alone Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You, Lord Jesus, right now to save me. You died on the cross for me, because of my sin and You say, “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21.
Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me, I trust You, to be my Lord and Savior from now on.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins. I ask You to abide in me and give me the desire to always follow You.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross. Even the sins of the whole world.
Thank you, Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me even before I was born and that You still love me now. I love You too.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You have called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [Holy Ghost, The Comforter, The Spirit of Truth]
Thank You for saving me heavenly Father. With all my heart, thank you Father for saving me in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Allow us to share the joy of your new birth with heaven. Won’t you? Heaven rejoices over each redeemed sinner. Luke 15:7

MISSION STATEMENT:
Our aim is to fulfill God’s purpose in us to save souls, strengthen and encourage believers in the Word, proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ as we serve those in need. We believe the Bible is God’s revealed Word and that through His Word He guides us as individuals and as a local body of believers. We are resolved, God helping us, to study, meditate and pray to rightly divide God’s revealed and preserved Word holding it as the final authority in all things.
The purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to make known the Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ to everyone. We desire to show the love of Jesus to those in need, especially those in the household of faith. The Bible is God’s everlasting, inspired, (God breathed) inerrant, unchangeable, divinely protected and preserved message of salvation to the whole world. It is the essence of the ministry inspired here.
The inspirational source of preaching, teaching and writing by Charles Haddon Spurgeon is from this same essence. His writings continue to be much read and much used today in the support of Gospel preaching. Such ministry is still flourishing in London at the Metropolitan Tabernacle, the church constructed for the 6,000 member congregation in the 1800's. Our effort here is to increase the publication, circulation and use of Spurgeon's materials for the benefit of the church body as well as all other readers. To this end we have arranged a daily Table of Contents and have added brief annotations [shown in brackets] while maintaining a strict fidelity to the original and unabridged text.
The Published Titles from Spurgeon that are included exclusively each day in the Devotion are:
· C.H. Spurgeon Prayers
· Spurgeon’s Illustrative Anecdotes
· Faith’s Checkbook
· Morning & Evening
These titles are selected from the inspired body of work created from the preaching and writing of Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892. He created an excellent legacy of gospel preaching and exposition and is known as the “Prince of Preachers”. Spurgeon has been and is today widely read with great benefit from the 1800’s to this present time. He is the beloved founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England (Still thriving TODAY through the faithful preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.) [Click to live-stream current gospel preaching in real time each Sunday from London by Dr. Peter Masters, Metropolitan Tabernacle pastor since 1970.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, please bless Your disciples toward the winning of many souls, and help us to be loving and compassionate toward all who are in need, especially those in the household of faith. I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and for His sake, Amen.
Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not praise or exalt Charles H. Spurgeon beyond the honor due him. He didn’t need or want it when he was on earth and would have no need or desire for it now. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM and Him crucified.
Precaution: These Messages and prayers alone will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus. Neither do they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word. (The King James version (KJV), known also as the Authorized Version (AV), is the preferred English Bible because its accuracy and fidelity to the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text) avoid doctrinal and editorial weaknesses found in many contemporary editions.
Prayer Selection by Spurgeon must not be offered as a substitute for personal, intimate fervent, heart-felt, prayer. It is intended rather, to warm the hearts of those who are in prayer seeking a season of authentic two-way, heart-to-heart fellowship and prayer with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit. Read from the NT Book of Romans Chapter 8.

(Copy and paste this URL if hyperlink fails)
https://www.febc.edu.sg/v15/article/def_the_inside_story_of_westcott_and_hort
In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:
* Letters from close relatives are quoted in the Inside Story above
The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,
thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on a defective text. Those who want to honor the Word of God must not promote the use of any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is evil in itself, but because the attitude of being contented to use a blemished version rather than an existing unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has taken the trouble to preserve for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it would be to Him if His people now chose instead to change over to a version that is based on a defective text.
Let the biblical story of Nadab and Abihu be a lesson to all:
And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp. So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said. And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled” (Lev 10:1–6).
