           Saint Valentine’s Day

The King decreed, “No marriages here!

‘Cause family men do halt from fear.”

                

Their Love of wife and children too,                                                                                

If he should die, what would they do?

 

No married couples; side-by-side,

No husbands, kids, or gorgeous bride.

 

But God’s dear Scripture sets the  tone:

“It is Not good, that man’s alone.”

 

It isn’t right, to come between us.

“Marry Then!”,  spoke Valentinus.

 

So they did;  he then, arrested,

By Jailer’s daughter he was tested.

 

She was blind and could not hear.

His prayer, did heal his precious dear.

 

Smitten by her lovely charm;

He Saved the Jailer from all harm.

 

The Jailer heard the Savior’s plea.

And now forever saved will be.

 

When on his way to martyrdom ,

He sent his sweet, “Be mine.”

 

He Signed his name confessing:           

“I’m yours and you are mine.”

We thank Thee for all the light there is, but send us more light. We thank Thee for what life there is among Christians, but send more of it. Bind the churches together in unity, and then give them such speed, such force, such power that they shall break into the ranks of the adversary, and the victory shall be unto Christ and to His people. Remember our dear country. Bless the Sovereign [Monarch]. Remember all those that lead our legislature. Be gracious unto all ranks and conditions of men. Have mercy upon all that are poor and needy, all that are sick and sorrowing, and that are tossed upon the sea. Remember the prisoners and such as have no helper. Be gracious to such as are in the article [point] of death; and, finally, let the day come when the Sun shall shine forth in all His brightness, even Christ Jesus shall be manifested, to be admired in them that believe, and to make glad the whole creation.

Make no tarrying, O Thou [You] Sun of Righteousness, but come forth speedily. We ask it for Thy name’s sake. Amen.

ANECDOTE 210: February 27th GOD LIKE A MOTHER.

 

It little matters where you seek the Lord. He will be sure to see you; and even if it be in the crowded street of Cheapside of Cornhill [homeless encampment] , if your soul is in prayer, all the din of noisy London [all large cities] cannot stop the prayer from reaching the ear of God.

You know, mothers, how quick you are of a night to hear your children if they are ill. If you had a nurse, she might slumber on; but as for you, with little Jane up-stairs sick, if you do fall asleep, the faintest noise awakes you; yet you are not one-half so wakeful as God is; for he neither slumbers nor sleeps.

When your heart begins to say,

“My God, my God, I would be reconciled; my Lord, I would be cleansed;”

the Lord is waiting to be gracious. Before you call, God hears you, for

he is a God ready to pardon.

Suspense is dreadful. When we have no news from home, we are apt to grow anxious, and we cannot be persuaded that “no news is good news.”

Faith is the cure for this condition of sadness: the Lord by His Spirit settles the mind in holy serenity, and all fear is gone as to the future as well as the present. The fixedness [steadfastness] of heart spoken of by the Psalmist is to be diligently sought after. It is not believing this or that promise of the Lord, but the general condition of unstaggering trustfulness in our God, the confidence which we have in Him that He will neither do us ill Himself, nor suffer anyone else to harm us.

This constant confidence meets the unknown as well as the known of life. Let the morrow be what it may, our God is the God of tomorrow. Whatever events may have happened, which to us are unknown, our Jehovah is God of the unknown as well as of the known. We are determined to trust the Lord, come what may.

If the very worst should happen, our God is still the greatest and best. Therefore will we not fear though the postman’s knock should startle us, or a telegram [or phone call] wake us at midnight. The Lord liveth [lives], and [so] what can His children fear?

Prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus that we shall not be afraid of evil tidings: [because] our hearts are fixed, trusting You, Help us to own such a heart that is fixed on and trusts in You as perfect love casts out fear, I pray in Your name Lord Jesus, Amen.

Psalm 91:9

THE Israelites in the wilderness were continually exposed to change. Whenever the pillar [by which God was leading them] stopped, the tents were pitched [set-up and water-proofed]; but tomorrow, before the morning sun had risen, the trumpet sounded, the ark of the Covenant was in motion, and the fiery, cloudy pillar was leading the way through the narrow defiles [passes] of the mountain, up the hillside, or along the arid waste of the wil¬derness.

They had scarcely time to rest a little before they heard the call "Away! [“Let’s go!”] This is not your rest; you must still be journeying onward toward Canaan!" [the land of milk and honey] They were never long in one place. Even wells and palm trees could not detain [keep] them.

Yet, they had an abiding home in their God. His cloudy pillar was their roof-tree and its flame by night their household fire. They must go onward from place to place, continually changing, never having time to settle and to say, "Now we are secure; in this place we shall dwell [stay]."

"Yet," says Moses, "though we are always changing, Lord, You have been our dwelling place throughout all generations." The Christian knows no change with regard to God. He may be rich today and poor tomorrow; he may be sickly today and well tomorrow; he may be in happiness today, tomorrow he may be distressed—but there is no change with regard to his relationship to God.

If He loved me yesterday, He loves me today.

My unmoving mansion [place] of rest is my blessed Lord. Let prospects be blighted, let hopes be blasted, let joy be withered, let mildews destroy everything, but I have lost nothing of what I have in God. He is "my strong habitation whereunto I can continually resort [rest and refresh]. " I am a pilgrim in the world, but at home in my God. In the earth I wander, but in God I dwell in a quiet habitation [peaceful place].

EVENING February 27th   "WHOSE GOINGS FORTH HAVE BEEN FROM OF OLD, FROM EVERLASTING. " —Micah 5:2

THE Lord Jesus had goings forth [things to do] for His people as their representative before the throne, long before they appeared upon the stage of time.

It was "from everlasting" that He signed the compact [covenant] with His Father that He would pay blood for blood, suffering for suffering, agony for agony, and death for death, in the behalf of His people. It was

"from everlasting"

that He gave Himself up without a murmuring [whining] word, that from the crown of His head to the sole of His foot He might sweat great drops of blood, that He might be spit upon, pierced, mocked, rent asunder [ripped apart], and crushed beneath the pains of death. His goings forth [actions] as our Surety were

from everlasting.

Pause, my soul [heart], and wonder! You had goings forth in the person of Jesus

"from everlasting."

Not only when you were born into the world did Christ love you, but His delights were with the sons of men before there were any sons of men. Often did He think of them; from everlasting to everlasting.

He had set His affection on them. What, my soul! Has He been so long about your salvation, and will not He [complete] it? Has he from everlasting been going forth to save me, and will He lose me now?

Has He carried me in His hand, as His precious jewel, and will He now let me slip from between His fingers? Did He choose me before the mountains were brought forth, or the channels of the deep were digged, and will He reject me now?

Impossible!

I am sure He would not have loved me so long if He had not been a changeless Lover. If He could grow weary of me, He would have been tired of me long before now. If He had not loved me with a love as deep as hell and as strong as death, He would have turned from me long ago.

Oh, joy above all joys, to know that I am His everlasting and inalienable inheritance, given to Him by His Father before the earth ever was!

Everlasting love will be the pillow for my head this night.  

 

 A SINNER’S PRAYER February 27th      … FOR WHOSOEVER:
   Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21 Pray and call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved    … won’t you?   

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner hopeless without You.  I would never be able to save myself. Without your death on the cross to pay my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned in Hell. By nature  and  practice I am a natural-born sinner. I’m  totally depraved and  I sin because I am a sinner. Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best or being as good as possible, or being better than other people or having good excuses can never save me.
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You,  by name,  Lord Jesus, right now to save me.  You died on the cross in my place to pay  for my sin. Your Word says,  “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21. Thank You, Lord.

 

     Right now, I surrender my sinful self  to You,  just as I am, Lord Jesus. I trust You to forgive me and save me and be my Lord and Savior.
Please forgive me for all my sins. I’m sorry for every sin (bad thoughts, words and things I have done) and look to You to forgive me of them all.  I need your strength to overcome sin’s temptations. Thank you for forgiving me.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross. 

    Thank you Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was born and that You still love me.
 

    Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You have made the way  to save me  and have drawn me away from sin and death into Life  in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus.  He took  my place, suffered and died for punishment that I deserved.

 

     Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. In Christ Jesus there is therefore now no condemnation.
 

     Thank You for saving me heavenly Father and for the Holy Spirit you will send for my guidance, comfort  and solemn instruction into all truth,  Amen.”

    With all my heart, I thank you Lord Jesus for saving me. In your name, Lord Jesus I pray, Amen.
