* BC/AD versus BCE/CE What’s the difference? Tap link to see.
A.D. does NOT mean “After Death”. It is a Latin abbreviation for Anno Domini, a phrase adopted for use in English meaning “Year of the Lord”. The complete, original phrase is "anno Domini nostri Jesu Christi" means "in the year of our Lord Jesus Christ”. A.D. or B.C. [Before Christ] describes the division of all human history as either before or after the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.
What’s The Difference (Brief History)
The inspired preaching, teaching and writings of Charles Haddon Spurgeon were bedrock solid on God’s revealed Word, the Bible. His written publications continue to benefit readers through authentic Gospel preaching and sound biblical teaching. His ministry continues to flourish from the Metropolitan Tabernacle, (Brief History) a church begun in 1650. The building was constructed by members of the congregation in 1861. It continues to thrive and flourish today.

Is it of God?
(AKJV) Translation From Textus Receptus: The Ultimate Stare Decisis [to stand by things decided]
Psalm 119:89 ל (Lamed) For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.
Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everyone or everything] you hear but be testing the spirit [voice] whether it is of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses [avows] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come[who came] from God, is of God: and every spirit that confesses [avows] not that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit [voice] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Therefore, I hereby confess that “Jesus Christ is here, from God, in the flesh.”
[English translations of the Bible that use Greek manuscripts other than the Textus Recptus render the English text to be “Has come”.
Translations from such manuscripts do not consider “ictin” (The Greek word for is) and therefore do not correctly render it, “Is come” [Is Here]. (AKJV)
This error is evident, also, because non-believers and false prophets can, and sometimes do, make the confession that He “has come” in the flesh. This is not surprising because the birth of Jesus Christ is arguably the most well documented fact in all of recorded history. Indeed, Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. While this is true, discernment could scarcely be ascertained as to whether the spirit [words] being tested can be discerned to be either from God or from the antichrist. While its true that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh, it is of crucial importance, to hear (and make) the confession that Jesus Christ, “is here, from God, in the flesh.”
By reading and meditating on Scripture in view of all other relevant Scripture, God’s Word self-authenticates:
1 John 4:1-3 with Ephesians 5:30-32
30 for we are members of his [Jesus Christs’] body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
[We are members of His body, flesh and bones, one flesh with Him, as the church].
He was born of a virgin 2022 years ago, lives today,
and is coming soon for His bride; the Church.
"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,
believed on in the world, received up into glory."
1 Timothy 3:16
WELCOME, in the name of Jesus.

It’s the heart’s desire of every believer to worship God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, in Spirit and in truth.
“Study to show yourself approved unto God, a worker that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing [accurately preaching] the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
To this end, Heavenly Father, we pray that You will bless all who visit this website bringing many to the Lord Jesus Christ. We ask this in Jesus’ name and for His sake, Amen.
This website does not replace nor can it be a substitute for in-person meeting and assembling of ourselves together. Hebrews 10:23-27
Rather, it’s purpose is to save lost sinners and to build up and encourage believers through God’s Word and prayer in personal discipleship, worship and devotion to the Lord Jesus as we are conformed to His image. “For whom God did foreknow he did also predestinate to be conformed to the image of his son…” Romans 8:29
The redeemed are scripturally instructed to assemble, praise and worship God through His son, the Lord Jesus Christ and for exhorting and provoking one another to good works.
Such worship may be encouraged through, congregational singing of sacred hymns and spiritual songs, reading, preaching and heeding God’s Word, sharing Christian love and fellowship, agreeing together in offered [public] prayer, and considering and exhorting one another in the Word, provoking one another unto love and good works and bearing witness with one another in the Holy Ghost.
Admonition: Online streaming can not satisfy physical, in-person assembly. Electronic media can not substitute for physical inter-personal fellowship, commitment, or vulnerability, nor does it allow for the kind and comforting touch of another person. e.g. Laying on of hands, 1 Timothy 4:14; the right hands of Christian fellowship, Galatians 2:9; or an embrace, Acts 20:1; or greeting with a holy kiss,
We give thanks to the Lord, for DailySpurgeon.com website and pray that it will continue to be a blessed instrumentality of God to share the gospel where believers are encouraged, built up and being conformed to the image the Lord Jesus Christ.
This ministry was begun as daily e-mails of Faith’s Checkbook by Charles H. Spurgeon were sent to Jon Edward Riley. Jon added many to this mailing list as he gave his testimony to them.
Jon was called home by his loving Father in Heaven on January 16, 2021 leaving a legacy of love for ministry to all who will benefit from and perpetuate it to God’s glory.
Jon is honored, here; honor to whom honor is due. Romans 13:7
We pray that many will be born again, challenged, encouraged, and built-up growing in personal devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ; being conformed to His image; that they might be the firstborn among many brethren. Romans 8:28-29.

This tribute is In remembrance, of Jon Edward Riley (1971-2021) who would, on occasion, just bust-out singing the following songs; sometimes, on the way to church sometimes just to sing along with the Elvis Gospel CD that was always at the ready in the truck’s CD player or…
even better, a song the Lord would spontaneously put in Jon’s joyful and loving heart.
Favorites we would sing:
I LOVE You Lord by Jared Reynolds
How Great Thou Art with Elvis
Lead Me & Rock-a My Soul by Elvis and friends
…Jon always said “Later”; [see-ya-later] instead of “good bye”. It was his standard greeting to bid farewell … He never would say “good-bye”. Now, remembering the sound of him saying “Later”, it rings very true as to its new and deeper meaning and it brings a joyfulness and comfort to the hearts of those he loved so well; those who love him still and will forever more.
… we are reminded of the promise of the Hymn:
’Till We Meet Again. Amen.
________________________________________
Jon loved to say, “I’m a blood-bought, born-again Child of God!” to all those he met or anyone who would listen.
… Jon’s testimony of faith by grace lives on by love from one who was forever accepted in the Beloved; One who’s loving testimony brings the good news of Jesus to many. one who is now in the presence of the LORD forever. One who we’ll one day meet again.
Amen.
Jon would sometimes just sing-out some of the following songs on the way to church
I Love You Lord by the Gaither choir
I Love You Lord Universal Music Group
I LOVE You Lord by Jared Reynolds
Where No One Stands Alone Gaither Vocal Band
Lead Me & Rock-a My Soul by Elvis and friends
He Knows Just What I Need by Elvis
How Great Thou Art with Elvis
Lead Me & Rock-a My Soul Elvis and friends
Lead Me, Guide Me by Elvis
It Is No Secret by Elvis written by Stuart Hamblen
LIFE by Elvis
This recording was discovered several months after Jon was called home on January 16th 2021. It’s a blessing, to hear Elvis sing the Gospel message in song but, of course, it can’t compare with the Glory of being in the actual presence of the LORD.
*I Can Only Imagine being present with the LORD, or hearing the completed song the Lord completed with Jon when he arrived; a song known only to the Lord, to Jon and the few who heard Jon sing it here. Lyrics remembered from him singing: "See my Jesus, Walkin' on duh Waduh"… an original, inspired song from our beloved Jon, himself a true and renown original.
* Click and sing I Can Only Imagine with Wynonna Judd, won’t you?
Love Without End, Amen (A Father’s Love) by George Strait for George H.W. Bush (41st President) at the Houston Astrodome, one of the President’s favorite songs.
It’s also my sincere message of love to all my children, grand-children and great grand-children etc..
…Jon would always say “Later”; [as in, see-ya later] instead of “good bye”. It was his only farewell greeting when parting company with a friend; and, everyone was Jon’s friend.
… He would never say “good-bye”.
Now, as we remember the sound of him saying “Later”, it rings true in a new and deeper meaning and it brings a joy and comfort to the hearts of those whom he loved so well; those who love him still and will forever more.
… and how much sweeter to us now, are the promises in these two Hymns:
’Till We Meet Again. (sing along, won’t you?)

Sproul will clarify exactly what the Gospel is and what it is not.

They will bless, strengthen, encourage, challenge and instruct seekers and believers, of all ages.
The Pilgrim’s Progress Pub. by Logos in 1853 from Bunyan’s ORIGINAL 1678 text.
REVISED TEXT: The Pilgrim’s Progrefs [sic] ©1999 by Barry E. Horner: is faithful to meanings and nuances of Bunyan’s text and provides support for the best understanding of this classic.
The Pilgrim Progress is the world’s most famous Allegory, and the most widely published of all time (GOAT) It was often found among he scant personal belongings of the early American Pioneers. It was loved and read, second only to the Holy Bible, God’s Word, for guidance, encouragement and comfort. It has also been considered, by some, to be the world’s first
English Novel. It is the world’s most published book of all time, other than the Holy Bible. There were 1,300 editions printed before 1938, 250 years after the author's death.
Charles Spurgeon often used The Pilgrim’s Progress to illustrate his sermons:
He was taught to read at a very early age and first read The Pilgrim’s Progress when he was six years old. He would return to read it over 100 times. He often quoted from Bunyan and the characters personified in The Pilgrim's Progress.
Excerpt from Charles H. Spurgeon Sermon: II. § 5 THE SWEETNESS OF THIS MYSTERY, WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU.
“Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me [Spurgeon] of Mr. Bunyan’s picture in The Pilgrim’s Progress. [The Holy War] of Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams [ancient weapons of war] had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [melodies], for the king himself was come. Up to the castle of the heart [main castle] he rode in triumph, and took his royal throne to be henceforth the sole lord and king of the city.
Christ in you is a right royal word. Christ swaying his scepter from the center of your being over every power and faculty, desire and resolve, bringing every thought into captivity to himself, oh, this is glory begun, and the sure pledge of heaven. Oh, for more of the imperial sovereignty of Jesus; it is our liberty to be absolutely under his sway.
Spurgeon Sermon: Christ in You, May 13, 1883

John Bunyan did not write nor hold to a world view of any kind. His inspired work, The Pilgrim’s Progress, known as the world’s most allegory, does not subscribe to any world view at all but proclaims God’s view on everything revealed and forever settled in Heaven Psalm 119:89 in The Holy Bible.
Bunyan merely, yet ardently believed God’s Word; That it is God-breathed [inspired by God], Self-authenticating, Providentially-protected and propagated immutable [unchanged and unchangeable] , inerrant [without error] , infallible [incapable of being mistaken or of being wrong], indestructible and eternal written Word from GOD Himself for ever settled in Heaven.
GOD, the omnipotent [infinitely powerful], omnipresent [infinitely present everywhere at the same time], perfectly righteous, just and Holy, breathed out [spoke] His Word to create the universe through His Word, The Lord Jesus Christ. God’s incarnate Word pre-existing with God and is now, and has always been and will forever be in perfect agreement with God, the Father and the Spirit of Truth. [The Holy Ghost]
God’s infinite Love and Grace to redeem fallen, totally depraved, hell-bound sinners is given to all who will look to Him for salvation Isaiah 45:22
Pilgrim’s Progress was given to John Bunyan in the form of a dream. It became the world’s most published allegory of all time and has imparted wisdom to all who seek eternal life and freedom from the burden and condemnation of sin. The referenced scripture verses therein may come to be more fully comprehended and remembered by taking the Pilgrim’s journey with him. Take the journey; Read or listen to an episode from The Pilgrim’s Progress, won’t you?

A SINNER’S PRAYER December 19th
PRAYER 19, December 19th Part 9 of 11 GOD’S UNSPEAKABLE GIFT.
We ask that everywhere there may be great numbers added to the Church. Thou who didst [did] bring in five thousand so soon, bring in five thousand in many and many a place. We read the statistics of Thy Church with great sorrow; how small an increase!
Lord, multiply us with men as with a flock; increase the people, and increase the joy. Make us to joy before Thee as the joy of harvest.
[We ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 139 December 19th : JOY IN HEAVEN OVER A CHILD’S CONVERSION.
A poor neglected little boy in ragged clothing had run about the streets for many a day [days]. Tutored [taught and trapped] in crime, he was paving his path to the gallows [to be hanged]; but one morning he passed by a humble room, where some men and women were sitting together teaching poor ragged children. He stepped in there, a wild *Bedouin of the streets; they talked to him; they told him about a soul and about in eternity, things he had never heard before; they spoke of Jesus, and of good tidings of great joy to this poor friendless lad.
He went another Sabbath, and another; his wild habits [continued] hanging about him, for he could not get rid of them. At last, it happened that his teacher said to him, one day, “Jesus Christ receiveth [receives] sinners.”
That little boy ran, but not home, for it was but a mockery to call it so where a drunken father and a lascivious mother kept a hellish riot together. He ran, and under some dry arch, or in some wild unfrequented corner, he bent his little knees, and there he cried, that poor creature in his rags,
“Lord, save me, or I perish;”
and the little Arab was on his knees the little thief was saved! He said,
“Jesus, lover of my soul, let me to thy bosom fly [let me run into Your arms] ;”
And up from that old arch, from that forsaken hovel [shack], there flew a spirit, glad to bear the news to heaven, that another heir of glory was born to God.
[Amen, Hallelujah]
* Crooked trade and raiding—This was The Bedouin’s main occupations.

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK December 19th AFFLICTIONS , BUT NO BROKEN BONES
C.H. Spurgeon 1834-1892
-He keepeth [keeps] all his bones; not one of them is broken- Psalm 34:20
El [Jehova] guarda todos sus huesos; Ni uno de ellos será quebrantado. Salmos 34:20
This promise by the context is referred [specifically extended] to the much afflicted righteous man:
-Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivereth [delivers] him out of them all.-
He may suffer skin-wounds and flesh-wounds, but no great harm shall be done, -not a bone of him shall be broken.- This is great comfort to a tried child of God, and comfort which I dare [to] accept; for up to this hour I have suffered no real damage from my many afflictions.
I have neither lost faith, nor hope, nor love.
Nay, [No] so, far from losing these bones of character, they have gained in strength and energy. I have more knowledge, more experience, more patience, more stability than I had before the trials came. Not even my joy has been destroyed. Many a bruise have I had by sickness, bereavement [grief], depression, slander [falsehoods attacking me], and opposition; but the bruise has healed, and there has been no compound [when broken bone breaks through flesh and skin] fracture of a bone, not even a simple one. The reason is not far away.
If we trust in the Lord, He keeps all our bones; and if He keeps them, we may be sure that not one of them is broken. Come, my heart, do not sorrow. Thou art smarting [in pain], but there are no bones broken. Endure hardness, and bid defiance to fear.
[“I rebuke the spirit of fear in Jesus’ name, Amen.”]
Prayer: Thank You Lord Jesus that You protect your chosen ones from all serious harm. Help me therefore, to trust in You, remembering your death on the cross and resurrection from the dead for my salvation and protection, in Your name, Lord Jesus, Amen.

… and pray for the saving of souls and strengthening of believers.
The Lord … is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
Pray also that believers will be taught by the Holy Spirit to rightly divide God’s eternal Word preserved and protected by God, Himself.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten [supernaturally fathered] Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
vis. The Textus Receptus TR [Received Text] is the faithfully rendered Greek text with an overwhelming agreement in and among the majority of the 5,321 extant New Testament, Greek manuscripts known as the MT. [Majority Text]. The Old Testament Hebrew and Aramaic manuscripts were meticulously copied by hand [manuscript] by the Masoretic scribes. These are the manuscripts from which the Original Old Testament King James version was translated onto English.
In order for Westcott & Hort and Nestle & Aland to create Modern Greek textsto shore up the many variant readings brought from highly nuanced readings of the Critical Text theory. Only Fifty-five 55 manuscripts from the 5,321 Majority Text MT were hand-picked and they were not from the foundational text from which the Textus Receptus was rendered but were selected from the inferior Sinaiticus and Vaticanus codices. These fifty-five manuscripts brought variant readings and were created, ostensibly, to justify the creation of an alternative Greek text to the traditional Textus Receptus which had been under spurious attack by Westcott & Hort and Nestle & Aland for many years.
The Codices known as Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are inferior as they often are in disagreement with the Textus Receptus and incredibly, with one another. They give rise to variant readings and embrace secular doctrine biases not supported by scripture translated from the Majority Text or the Textus Receptus. They have been infused with invented Greek text where an absence of Greek manuscripts from the Fifty-five hand-picked manuscripts was found.
They invented but did not disclose themselves as the source of the new Greek translation. They supplied this new Greek translation to all Committee members with the aim to revise the King James Bible. However, They insisted on a code of silence as to the authorship of the Greek Text from which all the Revisions were to be based. All members of the committee were required to agree to this code.
Modern textual criticism is based on the assumption that older manuscripts are, de-facto, more accurate. Actually, the continuous and unsettled changes from their variant readings reflect error, doctrinal ambiguities and biases not supported by the Majority Text.
Scripture based on The Greek text of Westcott & Hort and Nestle & Aland of a secular or denominational tradition allow modern textual criticism to rob God of His Sovereignty, Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Immutability, Inerrancy and Infallibility and to diminish Glory from His infinite and everlasting “I AM” that deserves and demands ALL GLORY.
God is not the author of confusion. 1 Corinthians 14:33

MORNING December 19th
"The lot is cast [dice is rolled] into the lap, but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord. "
— La suerte se echa en el seno: mas de Jehová es el todo el juicio [finál] de ella
— Proverbios 16:33
IF the disposal of the lot [divine providence] is the Lord's, whose is the arrangement of our whole life?
If the simple casting of a lot [throwing dice] is guided by Him, how much more the events of our entire life—especially when we are told by our blessed Savior:
“The very hairs of your head are all numbered: not a sparrow falls to the ground without your Father.”
It would bring a holy calm over your mind, dear friend, if you were always to remember this. It would so relieve your mind from anxiety that you would be the better able to walk in patience, quiet, and cheerfulness as a Christian should.
When a man is anxious, he cannot pray with faith; when he is troubled about the world, he cannot serve his Master; his thoughts are serving himself.
If you would "seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness," all things would then be added unto you.
You are meddling with [overstepping into] Christ's business, and neglecting your own when you fret [worry] about your lot and circumstances [providence]. You have been trying, and forgetting that it is yours [your duty] to obey.
Be wise and attend to the obeying, and let Christ manage the providing.
Come and survey your Father's storehouse, and ask whether He will let you starve while He has laid up so great an abundance in His garner [warehouses].
Look at His heart of mercy; see if that can ever prove unkind! Look at His inscrutable [incomprehensible] wisdom; see if that will ever be at fault.
Above all, look up to Jesus Christ your Intercessor [who pleads on your behalf], and ask yourself, while He pleads can your Father deal ungraciously with you?
If He remembers even sparrows, will He forget one of the least of His poor children?
"Cast [throw] thy burden [concern] upon the Lord, and
He will sustain thee.
He will never suffer the righteous to be moved."

EVENING December 19th "AND THERE WAS NO MORE SEA. "— Revelation 21:1
—Y el mar ya no es— Apocalipsis 21:1
WE could scarcely rejoice at the thought of losing the glorious old ocean: the new heavens and the new earth are none the fairer to our imagination, if, indeed, literally there is to be no great and wide sea, with its gleaming waves and Shelly shores. Is not the text to be read as a metaphor, [a word picture] tinged with the prejudice with which the Oriental mind universally regarded the sea in the olden times?
A real physical world without a sea is mournful to imagine; it would be an iron ring without the sapphire which made it precious.
There must be a spiritual meaning here. In the new dispensation there will be no division—the sea separates nations and divides peoples from each other.
To John [by whom God wrote the Revelation] in Patmos the deep waters were like prison walls, shutting him out from his brethren and his work: there shall be no such barriers in the world to come. Leagues [a league is approximately 3 miles] of rolling billows [waves and ocean swells] lie between us and many a kinsman whom tonight we prayerfully remember, but
in the bright world to which we go there shall be unbroken fellowship for all the redeemed family.
In this sense there shall be no more sea. The sea is the emblem of change; with its ebbs and flows, its glassy smoothness and its mountainous billows, its gentle murmurs and its tumultuous roaring, it is never long the same. A slave of the fickle [irresolute] winds and the changeful moon, its instability is proverbial.
In this mortal state we have too much of this; earth is constant only in her inconstancy, but in the heavenly state all mournful change will be unknown, and with it all fear of storm to wreck our hopes and drown our joys.
The sea of glass glows with a glory unbroken by a wave. No tempest howls along the peaceful shores of paradise. Soon shall we reach that happy land where partings, and changes, and storms shall be ended! Jesus will carry us there.
Are we in Him or not? This is the grand question.
