This powerful, inspirational docudrama faithfully recreates the times of C.H. Spurgeon and brings the “people’s preacher” to life as it follows his trials and triumphs with historical accuracy. Here is the intimate story of one of the greatest preachers in the history of the church. We follow him from his youth where, as a young preacher he is surprisingly called to minister in London and soon captures 2the love and respect of the nation. He goes on to become one of its most influential figures. This powerful, inspirational docudrama faithfully recreates the times of C.H. DEVOTION for February 26th *A.D. 2024
Written and calendared by Charles H. Spurgeon.
PRAYER 10, Part 8 of 9: THE MUSIC OF PRAISE.
ANECDOTE 209: The Love of God.
FAITH S CHECKBOOK: TRUTH ESTABLISHED
-The lip of truth shall be established for ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment-
-Proverbs 12:19
MORNING: “Salvation is of the Lord. ” –Jonah 2:9
EVENING: "Behold, if the leprosy have covered all his flesh,
he shall pronounce him clean that hath the plague. " —Leviticus 13:13
A SINNER’S PRAYER:
PRAYER 10, Part 8 of 9
THE MUSIC OF PRAISE.
[Heavenly Father] Our desire is that we may be quickened [enlivened] in our progress toward the celestial [heavenly] life. Visit us with [bring us] Thy [Your] salvation. Lord, let us not only have life, but let us have it more abundantly. May we every one of us quicken [speed up] his pace, and may we run more earnestly than ever toward the mark that is set before us. Remember all Thy Church throughout the whole world.
Bless and prosper missionary operations. Be with ministers or missionaries that are depressed for lack of success. Be with any that are rejoicing because of success. May each heart be kept in a right state, so that Thou mayest [may] use Thy servants to the utmost of possibility.
[I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ] Amen.
(Complete Prayer attached in e-mail: PRAYER 10.doc)
ANECDOTE 209:
In the French Revolution, there was a young man condemned to the guillotine, and shut up in one of the prisons. He was greatly loved by many, but there was one who loved him more than all put together. How know we this? It was his own father; and the love he bore his son was proved in this way: when the lists were called, the father, whose name was exactly the same as his son’s, answered to the name, and the father rode in the gloomy tumbril out to the place of execution, and his head rolled beneath the axe instead of his son’s, a victim to mighty love. See here an image of the love of Christ to sinners; for thus Jesus died for the ungodly, viewed as such. If they had not been ungodly, neither they nor he had needed to have died; if they had not sinned, there would have been no need for a suffering Savior, but Jesus proved his boundless love “in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Your name was in the condemned list, my fellow-sinner, but, if you believe in Jesus, you shall find that your name is there no longer, for Christ’s name is put in your stead, and you shall learn that he suffered for you, the just for the unjust, that he might bring you to God. Is not this the greatest wonder of divine love, that it should be set upon us as sinners? I can understand God’s loving reformed sinners, and repenting sinners ; but here is the glory of it,
“God commendeth [gives] his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners yet sinners!
Christ died for us.”
FAITH’S CHECKBOOK FEBRUARY 26 TRUTH ESTABLISHED C.H. Spurgeon 1834—1892
-The lip of truth shall be established for ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment-
-Proverbs 12:19
-El labio de verdad permanecerá para siempre: Mas la lengua de mentirá por un momento -Proverbios 12:19
Truth wears well. Time tests it, but it right [very] well endures the trial. If, then, I have spoken the truth, and have for the present to suffer for it, I must be content to wait. If also I believe the truth of God, and endeavor to declare it, I may meet with much opposition, but I need not fear, for ultimately
the truth must prevail.
What a poor thing is the temporary triumph of falsehood!
“A lying lip is but for a moment!”
It is a mere gourd, which comes up in a night, and perishes in a night; and the greater its development the more manifest its decay.
On the other hand, how worthy of an immortal being is the avowal and defense of
that truth which can never change; the everlasting gospel,
which is established in the immutable [unchanged and unchangeable] truth of an unchanging God!
An old proverb saith [says],
-He that speaks truth shames the devil.- Assuredly he that speaks the truth of God will put to shame all the devils in hell, and confound all the seed of the serpent which now hiss out their falsehoods.
O my heart, take care that thou be in all things on the side of truth, both in small things and great; but
specially, on the side of Him by whom grace and truth have come among men!
Prayer: Thank you Lord that the lip of truth shall be established ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment. Help us speak only truth and avoid lies so that we shall be set apart and fit for holy service. Clothe us in Your Truth, holiness and righteousness for Your name’s sake, Lord Jesus, Amen.
MORNING February 26
“Salvation is of the Lord. ” –Jonah 2:9
La salvación pertenece á Jehová. –Jonás 2:9
SALVATION is the work of God.
It is He alone who quickens [brings to life] the soul "dead in trespasses and sins" and it is He who also maintains the soul in its spiritual life. He is both "Alpha and Omega." [the beginning and the end] Salvation is of the Lord."
If I am prayerful, [it’s because] God makes me prayerful;
If I have graces, they are God's gifts to me;
If I hold on in a consistent life, it is because He upholds me with His hand.
I do nothing whatever toward my own preservation, except what God himself first does in me.
Whatever I have, all my goodness is of the Lord alone.
When I sin, that is my own; but when I act rightly, that is of God, wholly and completely.
If I have repulsed [stood against] a spiritual enemy, the Lord's strength nerved [strengthened] my arm.
Do I live a [holy] consecrated life before men?
It is not I, but Christ who liveth [lives] in me.
Am I sanctified [holy and set aside for God’s service]?
I did not cleanse myself: God's Holy Spirit sanctifies me.
Am I weaned [freed] from the world? I am weaned [freed] by God's chastisements [correcting disciplines] sanctified to my good.
Do I grow in knowledge? The great Instructor teaches me.
All my jewels were fashioned by heavenly art.
I find in God all that I want; but I find in myself nothing but sin and misery.
"He only is my rock and my salvation."
Do I feed on the Word [Holy Bible]?
That Word would be no food for me unless the Lord made it food for my soul, and helped me to feed on it.
Do I live on the [divine] manna that comes down from heaven?
What is that manna but Jesus Christ incarnate [in the flesh], whose body and whose blood I eat and drink?
Am I continually receiving fresh increase of strength? Where do I gather my might?
My help comes from heaven's hills: without Jesus I can do nothing.
As a branch cannot bring forth fruit except it abide [remain] in the vine, no more can I, [bring forth fruit] except I abide [live] in Him.
What Jonah learned in the great deep, [in the whale] let me learn this morning [now] in my closet [secret place of prayer]:
"Salvation is of the Lord."
EVENING February 26
"Behold, if the leprosy have covered all his flesh, he shall pronounce him clean that hath the plague. "
─Leviticus 13:13
─Entonces si la lepra hubiere cubierto toda su carne, dará por limpio al llagado—Levítico 13:13
IT is strange enough that this regulation appears, yet there was wisdom in it, for the throwing out of the disease [symptoms coming to the surface] provided that the constitution [body] was sound. This evening it may be well for us to see the typical teaching of so singular a rule.
We, too, are lepers, and may read the law of the leper as applicable to ourselves. When a man sees himself to be altogether lost and ruined, covered all over with the defilement of sin, and in no part free from pollution; when he disclaims all righteousness of his own, and pleads guilty before the Lord; then he is clean through the blood of Jesus and the grace of God.
Hidden, unfelt, un-confessed [sin] is the true leprosy; but when sin is seen and felt, it has received its deathblow [end], and the Lord looks with eyes of mercy upon the soul afflicted with it. Nothing is more deadly than self-righteousness, or more hopeful than contrition [Godly sorrow].
We must confess that we are
"nothing else but sin,"
for no confession short of this will be the whole truth; and if the Holy Spirit is at work in us, convincing us of sin, there will be no difficulty about making such an acknowledgment: it will spring spontaneously from our lips [it will pop right out]. What comfort does the text afford to truly awakened sinners?
The very circumstance which so grievously discouraged them is here turned into a sign and symptom of a hopeful state!
Stripping comes before clothing, digging out the foundation is the first thing in building, and a thorough sense of sin is one of the earliest works of grace in the heart. 0 poor leprous sinner, utterly destitute of [without] a sound spot, take heart from the text, and come as you are to Jesus.
For let our debts be what they may, however great or small,
As soon as we have nought to pay, our Lord forgives us all.
'Tis perfect poverty alone that sets the soul at large:
While we can call one mite [cent] our own, we have no full discharge [total forgiveness]
A SINNER’S PRAYER: … FOR WHOSOEVER: [One and all]
Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved … pray like this, won’t you?
“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am hopeless. I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross for my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned to Hell. I have been self-centered from birth. Please forgive me.
I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m guilty and sorry for each and every sin I have done and look to You to forgive me of them all.
I look to You, alone Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You, Lord Jesus, right now to save me. You died on the cross for me, because of my sin and You say, “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21.
Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me, I trust You, to be my Lord and Savior from now on.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins. I ask You to abide in me and give me the desire to always follow You.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross. Even the sins of the whole world.
Thank you, Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me even before I was born and that You still love me now. I love You too.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You have called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [Holy Ghost, The Comforter, The Spirit of Truth]
Thank You for saving me heavenly Father. With all my heart, thank you Father for saving me in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Allow us to share the joy of your new birth with heaven. Won’t you? Heaven rejoices over each redeemed sinner. Luke 15:7

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please bless Your disciples toward the winning of many souls, and help us to be loving and compassionate toward all who are in need, especially those in the household of faith. I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and for His sake, Amen.
Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not praise or exalt Charles H. Spurgeon beyond the honor due him. He didn’t need or want it when he was on earth and would have no need or desire for it now. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM and Him crucified.
Precaution: These Messages and prayers alone will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus. Neither do they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word. (The King James version (KJV), known also as the Authorized Version (AV), is the preferred English Bible because its accuracy and fidelity to the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text) avoid doctrinal and editorial weaknesses found in many contemporary editions.
Prayer Selection by Spurgeon must not be offered as a substitute for personal, intimate fervent, heart-felt, prayer. It is intended rather, to warm the hearts of those who are in prayer seeking a season of authentic two-way, heart-to-heart fellowship and prayer with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit. Read from the NT Book of Romans Chapter 8.

The above link is to search for specific words or Scripture references in the King James Bible (KJV) inerrant and infallible English Bible because it is providentially protected and preserved by GOD Himself through the only translation into English by faithful brethren from the established majority text MT from which the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] manuscripts of the New Testament was taken and the Hebrew Masoretic Text of the Old Testament (Jewish Tanakh). These manuscripts are providentially protected, and frequently give greater glory to God when compared to variant readings of all modern translations from Modern Critical Texts based on inferior Greek manuscripts.
The established majority manuscripts avoid doctrinal error, inaccuracies in translation, uninspired editorial notations, variant or ambiguous readings taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus.

Brooke Foss Westcott and Fenton John Anthony Hort
URL:

In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:
* Letters from close relatives are quoted in the Inside Story above
The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,
thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on a defective text. Those who want to honor the Word of God must not promote the use of any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is evil in itself, but because the attitude of being contented to use a blemished version rather than an existing unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has taken the trouble to preserve for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it would be to Him if His people now chose instead to change over to a version that is based on a defective text.
Let the biblical story of Nadab and Abihu be a lesson to all:
And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp. So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said. And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled” (Lev 10:1–6).
