O God! bless our Sunday schools, and give a greater interest in such work, that there may be no lack of men and women who shall be glad and happy in the work of teaching the young. Do impress this, we pray Thee, upon Thy people just now. [We thank you for the remarkable gift of salvation and for the high calling to serve You under Your banner, Lord Jesus, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 307: Culture Through Prayer.

God’s grace can save you, and then enlighten you. A brother minister once told me a story of a man who was known in a certain village as a simpleton, and was always considered to be soft in the head; no one thought he could ever understand any thing. But one day he came to hear the gospel preached. He had been a drunken fellow, having wit [sense] enough to be wicked, which is a very common kind of wit. The Lord was pleased to bless the Word to his soul, so that he became a changed character; and what was the marvel of all was, his religion [faith] gave him  something which began to develop his latent faculties [dormant capabilities] mind and personality]. He found he had some thing to live for, and he began to try what he could do. In the first place he wanted to read his Bible, that he might read his Savior’s name; and after much hammering and spelling away, at last he was able to read a chapter.

Then he was asked to pray at a prayer-meeting; here was an exercise of his vocal powers. Five or six words made up his prayer, and down he sat abashed [embarrassed]. But by continually praying in his own family at home, he came to pray like the rest of the brethren, and he went on till he became a preacher, and singular enough [exceptional and one-of-a-kind] he had a fluency, a depth of understanding, and a power of thought, such as are seldom found among ministers who only occasionally occupy pulpits.

Strange it was, that grace should even tend to develop his natural powers, giving him an object, setting him devoutly and firmly upon it, and so bringing out all his resources that they were fully shown. Ah, ignorant ones, ye need not despair. He [Jesus] saved them; not for their sakes there was nothing in them why they should be [have been] saved. He saved them, not for their wisdom’s sake; but, *ignorant though they were, not understanding the meaning of his miracles,

“he [Jesus] saved them for his name’s sake.”

This confidence of the man of God is tantamount to a promise; for that which faith is persuaded of is the purpose of God. The prophet had to traverse [travel through] the deep places of poverty and famine, but he went down hill without slipping, for the Lord gave him standing [good balance and footing] . By-and-by he was called to the high places of the hills of conflict; and he was no more afraid to go up than to go down. See! the Lord lent him strength. Nay [Not only that], Jehovah Himself was his strength. Think of that: the Almighty God Himself becomes our strength! Note, that the Lord also gave him sure-footedness. The hinds [deer] leap over rock and crag, [steep cliff] never missing their foothold. Our Lord will give us grace to follow the most difficult paths of duty without a stumble. He can fit our foot for the crags, so that we shall be at home where apart from [without] God we should perish.One of these days we shall be called to higher places still. Up yonder [away over there] we shall climb, even to the mount of God, the high places where the shining ones [angles] are gathered. Oh, what feet are the feet of faith, by which, following the Hind of the Morning [surefooted deer], we shall ascend into the hill of the Lord!

Prayer: Because You O God are our strength we shall climb according to Your word. Heavenly Father, help us to obediently believe Your promise and claim the blessed assurance we find in Your Word. I claim Your Word and You, yourself Father as my strength, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Pray for faith that your path will be sure, won’t you?

MORNING   June 3rd      

"These were potters, and those that dwelt among plants and hedges: there they dwelt with the king for his work." —1 Chronicles 4:23

POTTERS were not the very highest grade of workers, but "the king" needed potters, and therefore they were in royal service, although the material upon which they worked was nothing but clay. We, too, may be engaged in the most menial part of the Lord's work, but it is a great privilege to do anything for "the king" and therefore we will abide in our calling, hoping that, "although we have lien [a bound duty] among the pots, yet shall we be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold." The text tells us that those who dwelt among plants and hedges had rough, rustic, hedging and ditching work to do. They may have desired to live in the city amid its life, society, and refinement, but they kept their appointed places, for

they also were doing the king's work.

The place of our habitation is fixed, and we are not to remove from [leave] it out of whim and caprice [on a lark] , but seek to serve the Lord in it by being a blessing to those among whom we reside [neighbors]. These potters and gardeners had royal company, for they dwelt "with the king," and although among hedges and plants, they dwelt with the king there. No lawful place, or gracious occupation, however mean, can debar us from communion with our divine Lord. In visiting hovels [ghettos], swarming lodging-houses [public housing], workhouses [sweat shops], or jails, we may go with the king. In all works of faith we may count on Jesus' fellowship. It is when we are in His work that we may count on His smile. You unknown workers who are occupied for your Lord amid the dirt and wretchedness of the lowest of the low, be of good cheer, for jewels have been found on dunghills [in sewers] before, earthen pots have been filled with heavenly treasure, and ill weeds have been transformed into precious flowers. Dwell with the king for his work, and when He writes His chronicles your name will be recorded.

JESUS is the great teacher of lowliness of heart. We need daily to learn of Him. See the Master taking a towel and washing His disciples' feet! Follower of Christ, will you not humble yourself? See Him as the Servant of servants, and surely you cannot be proud! Is not this sentence the compendium [sum and substance] of His biography, "He humbled Himself'? Was He not on earth always stripping off first one robe of honor and then another, until, naked, He was fastened to the cross, and there did He not empty out His inmost self, pouring out His lifeblood, giving up for all of us, until they laid Him penniless in a borrowed grave? How low our dear Redeemer was brought! How then can we be proud? Stand at the foot of the cross, and count the purple drops by which you have been cleansed; see the thorn-crown; mark His scourged [whip-lashed] shoulders, still gushing with en-crimsoned rills [blood-red wounds]; see hands and feet given up to the rough iron [spikes], and His whole self to mockery and scorn; see the bitterness and the pangs, and the throes of inward grief, showing themselves in His outward frame; hear the thrilling shriek,

"My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?"

And if you do not lie prostrate on the ground before that cross, you have never seen it: if you are not humbled in the presence of Jesus, you do not know Him. You were so lost that nothing could save you but the sacrifice of God's only begotten. Think of that, and as Jesus stooped for you, bow yourself in lowliness at His feet.

A sense of Christ's amazing love to us has a tendency to humble us more than even a consciousness of our own guilt.

May the Lord bring us in contemplation to Calvary, then our position will no longer be that of the pompous man of pride, but we will take the humble place of one who loves much because much has been forgiven him.

Pride cannot live beneath the cross.

Let us sit there and learn our lesson [of humility], and then rise and carry it into practice. 

A SINNER’S  PRAYER 

Whosoever shall call on the name of the lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

Pray and call on the name of the Lord Jesus, like this. Won’t you? 

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and hopeless to save myself. Without you and your blood that was shed for me and Your death on the cross  I would spend eternity in Hell’s fire.

Thank you Lord Jesus that You love me and died for me before I was born and that You have always loved me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father but by You.  

Thank you, Father that You have caused for me to see myself as I am; a lost sinner.  But,  because of Your love and goodness, You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in You, Lord Jesus.  You took my place on the cross and provided the way for  me to be forgiven. Thank You.
Thank You that You prompted a desire in me to believe in You, the only begotten  Son of God who died on the cross to be the sacrifice that would  atone for my sins.

Thank You, Father for Your love that allowed Jesus to suffer and die in my place. Thank You that You raised Jesus from the dead. He is RISEN and is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus I am free. You raised Jesus from the dead, gave Him a Glorified body and after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with You  in heaven.  Thank you, Father,  for saving me in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Romans 6:11  Thank you, Holy Spirit, that you always give witness to and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ. 
John 16:8-11With all my heart, thank you Lord for saving me.
Live Your life in me,  Lord Jesus, in Your name I pray, Amen.

Who was (is) Charles Haddon Spurgeon

*A.D. did not and does NOT mean “After Death” as many erroneously now think. It actually abbreviates  Anno Domini,  a  Latin phrase adopted into English that literally means  “Year of our Lord”.  It has been used together with B.C. Before Christ   for centuries.

B.C.E  is not a synonym for B.C. (Before Christ)]  It is not the same thing. Not even close.

B.C.E. / C.E  or   B.C. /A.D.  What’s the difference?     

B.C.E. (BEFORE COMMON ERA [or  BEFORE CURRENT ERA] ― Anything to avoid all reference or mention of anything CHRISTIAN by atheist and anti-Christians and to remove A.D. [Anno Domini] and  B.C. [Before Christ] from being used.

This argument, claims to have a neutral point of view to remove the reference to Jesus Christ by omitting the use of A.D Ano Domini and B.C. Before Christ This argument brings forward a faulty and egregious hypothesis.  Without consideration of a person’s religious views analysis of the hypothesis of a neutral point of view (NPOV) must be made.

What is A NEUTRAL point of view?  Such a fool’s errand would argue that a point of view could set forth a valid, genuine, authentic and simultaneously  be neutral. What?  This defies logic. A neutral point of view, were it possible, is no point of view at all. Rather, it’s  illogical and by applying simple common sense, impossible.  Anytime a point of view is combined, confused or blended with another one so that the properties are clouded, weakened or confused the actual definite and certain POV is lost and any rational adherence or support for it is now moot.   A Neutral point of view exists only in  the imagination of those who prefer confusion to a true, authentic, genuine, robust and proven point of a verifiable fact.

A neutral point of view, were it possible, would be, at best,  illogical, unattainable,  indefensible and irresponsible. The king of oxymorons.

Therefore, the mere consideration of an imagined but impossible and unattainable neutral point of view (NPOV) is ludicrous.  A point of view cannot be NEUTRAL. An authentic point of view cannot be neutral, or ambiguous, but must clearly advance a singular, definite and certain  point of view (POV).  It cannot be both a  POV and neutral.   A neutral point of view is a logical impossibility.  A neutral (POV), were it possible, would ignore the historical fact of Jesus Christ’s birth. The pretense of seeking a neutral point of view  is therefore misleading and  disingenuous.

The Lord Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh,
was born of a virgin  2025 years ago.                       
He’s  alive  today, has always existed as God’s eternal and everlasting Word, 
and will soon return for his bride, the Church
[The body of all redeemed believers in Jesus Christ].
 

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,
believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Thank You  LORD for dailyspurgeon.com  that proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ [The Messiah], and  the great commission for believers to go into  all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

This ministry was begun with the sending of  e-mails of  Spurgeon’s  Faith’s Checkbook,  to Jon Edward Riley (1971- 2021). Is it true?     Is it of God? 

Apply this Scripture to discern if it is of God and true, or not.

1 John 4:1-3  Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [voice] you hear but be testing the spirits [voices] whether they are of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit [voice]  of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come from God, is of God:  and every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit [voice] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 

Therefore, we should [must] test every voice [spirit] whether it is from God, bonified and trustworthy to be believed only if it  confesses [says]  that… 

“Jesus Christ is here, from God, in the flesh having come from God .”  

[All English translations of the Bible other than King James have  erroneously translated from two alternate Greek texts created by Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Alland as “Has come” rather than“Is come” [Is Here] which is the correct translation following the Greek Majority Text and the Textus Receptus].  The majority of manuscripts MT of the 5,321 individual Greek manuscripts that are preserved, protected, inerrant, infallible and immutable manuscripts and are in overwhelming agreement with one another and are the source from which the Textus Receptus is taken

All Modern Critical  translations overlook the original Greek verb “ictin” [To be] [is] (third person singular) that is in virtually all Majority Texts MT and  subsequently in the Textus Receptus [Received Text] therefore they fail to correctly translate  the Greek verb  as, “Is come” [Is here].  (Rightly translated from the Received Text only in the King James Version) 

This  error occurs  because the  modern critical Greek text, created by Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Alland DO NOT follow the  MT [Majority Texts] of 5,321 Greek manuscripts that  affirm agreement   with one another.   The TR  [Textus Receptus] is rendered from this overwhelming body of agreement from Majority Text of primary manuscript sources. Both Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Alland have omitted the verb “is”, from the Greek text. This error may be described in the legal term res ipsa loquitur meaning the thing speaks for itself.

 Therefore, the alternate translations generated from these two alternate Greek fabrications are not correct. Why is that? 

Because non-believers and false prophets can indeed, and often do, affirm that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. Practically anyone can  make this confession as the  birth of Jesus Christ is considered by virtually all respected historians to be the most well documented fact in history. That He has come is generally acknowledged by nonbelievers and believers alike.   However, here’s the point. There is a huge difference between “Has come” and “Is Here”. “Has come” falls woefully short of the essential and clear meaning of the confession “Is Here”. Just because something “has come” it can not be assumed, inferred or deduced that it also “is here”.

The “has come” assertion is not surprising nor is it, per se, a false statement. Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. However, this  fails to present a  Rubric necessary to discern whether the sprit [voice] being tested [tried] is from God or from false prophets in the spirit of antichrist. 

Again, the expression “has come” rather than  “is come” [is here]  is not, per se a false statement.

However, it fails to deliver a valid hypothesis, proffered and inferred in the contextfor scriptural discernment. The failure here  to establish a logical and rhetorically sound rubric to judge  the question of whether spirits [words] are from God or from false prophets and the spirit of antichrist is absent.

Namely, it does not provide a sound hypothesis to discern whether a spirit [spoken or written words]  are from God or the spirit of Antichrist.

Virtually anyone [or any spirit] may avow that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. But as you can see, this does not resolve the issue of whether something should or should not be believed or followed. Why?  Once again,  because virtually anyone and everyone can and often do confess that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. This leaves absent a valid and efficacious hypothesis to discern the truth.

Again, while it is  true that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh, this alone is inadequate to discern truth from error. “Has come” does not mean the same thing as “is come [is here],  from God, in the flesh” and therefore  is a failed attempt to represent itself as efficacious for true spiritual discernment as outlined in 1 John Chapter 4: 1-3.

Further, as we  compare  Scripture with  scripture in 1 John 4:1-3 and  Ephesians 5:30-32 

we comprehend God’s message regarding  the body of Jesus Christ  being in the Flesh vis-à-vis The Body of Christ, The Corporate Church.

Compare  1 John 4:1-3   with Ephesians 5:30-32

30 for we are members of his [Jesus Christ’s]  body,  of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: 

but I speak concerning  Christ and the church. 

 [So, we are members of His body, flesh and bone, [we are] one flesh with Him,  The Body of Christ is (In the flesh); and is the incarnate Body of believers].

 He was born of a virgin 2024 years ago and  He lives today.

He’s coming again,  for His bride; the Church [Blood-bought, Born-again members of His body].

When a believer considers the fact that they are members of the body of Christ [The Church] , they should acknowledge and readily confess that…

“Jesus Christ is here, from God,  in the flesh,” because  We are the Body of Christ; The Church, in the flesh!  Amen.
