Daily Spurgeon
DEVOTION for April 24th *A.D. 2025 Written and calendared for this exact date by Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892
Easter [Resurrection Sunday] IS NEVER OVER.
Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me, shall never die. Believest thou this?”
2 Timothy 2:8-26
8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

This video presents historical evidence to explain the publication explosion of over 100 English versionsof the Bible. The continuing attempts to replace, add, take away from or change the 1769 King James Version of the Holy Bible have notprevailed because GOD Himself preserves and protects His Holy Scripture from all heresy, blasphemy, confusion and error.
Note: The King James Version follows the Greek Text fabricated by Westcott and Hort and does follow the originalGreek of the Textus Receptus. It is therefore inferior to the 1769 [1611] KJV!

DAILY SPURGEON and DEVOTION for April 24, A.D. 2025
A.D. did not and does NOT mean “After Death” as many erroneously now think. It actually abbreviates Anno Domini, a Latin phrase adopted into English that literally means “Year of our Lord”. It has been used together with B.C. Before Christ for centuries.
B.C.E is not a synonym for B.C. (Before Christ)] It is not the same thing. Not even close.
B.C.E. / C.E or B.C. /A.D. What’s the difference?
B.C.E. (BEFORE COMMON ERA [or BEFORE CURRENT ERA] ― Anything but BEFORE CHRISTIAN ERA) has been an attempt by atheist and anti-Christians to remove A.D and B.C.
The argument here, claims to have a neutral point of view that would remove all reference to Jesus Christ by omitting the use of A.D Ano Domini and B.C. Before ChristThis argument brings forward a faulty if not egregious hypothesis. Without consideration of a person’s religious views analysis of the hypothesis of a neutral point of view (NPOV) must be made.
What is A NEUTRAL point of view? Such a fool’s errand would argue that a point of view could set forth a valid, genuine, authentic and simultaneously be neutral. What? This defies logic. A neutral point of view, were it possible, is no point of view at all. Rather, it’s illogical and by applying simple common sense, impossible. Anytime a point of view is combined, confused or blended with another one so that the properties are clouded, weakened or confused the actual definite and certain POV is lost and any rational adherence or support for it is now moot. A Neutral point of view exists only in the imagination of those who prefer confusion to a true, authentic, genuine, robust and proven point of a verifiable fact.
A neutral point of view, were it possible, would be, at best, illogical, unattainable, indefensible and irresponsible. The king of oxymorons.
Therefore, the mere consideration of an imagined but impossible and unattainable neutral point of view (NPOV) is ludicrous. A point of view cannot be NEUTRAL. An authentic point of view cannot be neutral, or ambiguous, but must clearly advance a singular, definite and certain point of view (POV). It cannot be both a POV and neutral. A neutral point of view is a logical impossibility. A neutral (POV), were it possible, would ignore the historical fact of Jesus Christ’s birth. The pretense of seeking a neutral point of view is therefore misleading and disingenuous.
The Lord Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh,
was born of a virgin 2025 years ago.
He’s alive today, has always existed as God’s eternal and everlasting Word,
and will soon return for his bride, the Church
[The body of all redeemed believers in Jesus Christ].
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,
believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: for I am God and there is none else.
You are invited to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior and Lord and to follow Him in believer’s baptism.
Jesus came from Galilee to Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist. But, John forbad [refused] Him and said, “I have need to be baptized of You and [yet] you are coming to me?” [for baptism] And Jesus answering him said, “Suffer it to be so [Do it] now: for thus it becometh us [is beautifully fitting and expected of us] to fulfil all righteousness.”
Baptism is not a requirement for salvation but it is the willing desire of all believers to demonstrate agreement and consistency with the righteousness of preaching Repentance and Baptism by John the Baptist and obedience to the scriptural teaching. The issue of baptism is therefore not an issue of salvation but of obedience and of fulfilling all righteousness.
Worshiping Him in Spirit and in truth will spring-up and be manifested in a sense of gratitude. Such worship can come through prayer, Bible reading, scriptural meditation and study. Fellowship in a local church body, hearing gospel preaching and singing of sacred hymns and spiritual songs are also acts of worship and reflects an active discipleship.
To this purpose, DailySpurgeon, is offered as a reliable, dependable and effective resource.
It is not intended, were it possible to take the place of fellowship or congregational worship in a local body of believers.
“Study to show yourself approved unto God, a worker that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing [accurately comprehending and sharing] the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
Trusting in and following the Lord Jesus Christ is our chief purpose. We trust Him for salvation, guidance, strength and our eternal destiny according to His perfect will. We follow Him in soul winning through DailySpurgeon or any other instrumentality He may choose. We invite and encourage non-believers to turn away from sin, look to Him and be saved. We trust that believers (old and new) will benefit from its use knowing that He will sustain, guide and build us up as we are conformed to His image by the power of the Holy Spirit.

SERMON: The Metropolitan Tabernacle (Charles Spurgeon 1834-1892)
The Strategy of Resurrection John Ch. 20 with Dr. Peter Masters, Pastor
It is clear the resurrection was completely unexpected by the disciples. Here is how it came, first by gentle intimation, then with a caution, then as a proof of Christ's successful atonement, and then as a command to trust in the living Lord.
PRAISE: PLEASE SING Above All by Lenny LeBlanc …Be [be being] filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:18-19
PRAYER 16, Part 8 of 8: HE EVER LIVETH.
ANECDOTE 267: Whosoever.
I am deeply in love with that word “who-so-ever.” It is a splendid word. A person who kept many animals had some great dogs and some little ones, and in his eagerness to let them enter his house freely he had two holes cut in the door, one for the big dogs and another for the little dogs. You may well laugh, for the little dogs could surely have come in wherever there was room for the larger ones. This “ whosoever” is the great opening, suitable for sinners of every size.
“Whosoever liveth [lives] and believeth [believes] in me shall never die.”
FAITH’S CHECKBOOK: April CONDITION OF BLESSING

MORNING: “And because of all this we make a sure covenant.” --Nehemiah 9:38
EVENING: “The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come,
and the voice of the turtle [dove] is heard in our land.” Song of Solomon 2:12

PRAYER 16
HE EVER LIVETH.
Part 8 of 8
Lord, shake the earth with the power of God. Oh! that the heathen lands may hear the Word of God and live. But first convert the Church, and then Thou wilt convert the world. Oh! deal with those that depart from the faith and grieve Thy [Your] Holy Spirit. Bring them back again to their first love, and may Christ be fully and faithfully preached everywhere to the glory of His name. Now forgive us every iniquity [sin]; now lift us beyond the power of every sin; now lift us to pray and praise; now make the home [our homes] full of [Your] sacred power, and, last of all, come, Lord Jesus. This is the great wish of our souls. Even so, come quickly, come quickly, Lord Jesus. Amen and Amen. (Complete Prayer is attached in e-mail as: PRAYER 16.doc)
FAITH’S CHECKBOOK APRIL 24 C.H. Spurgeon 1834 – 1892
Resurrection Greeting: He is RISEN. Response: He is risen INDEED.
(Jesus says: “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” John 11:25)
CONDITION OF BLESSING
-Bring ye all the tithes [a tenth of all increase] into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith [Test me right now], saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it- Malachi 3:10-
Many read and plead this promise without noticing the condition upon which the blessing is promised. We cannot expect Heaven to be opened or blessing poured out unless we pay our dues [tithe] unto the Lord our God and to His cause. There would be no lack of funds for holy purposes if all professing Christians paid their fair share. Many are poor because they rob God. Many churches, also, miss the visitations of the Spirit because they starve their ministers. If there is no temporal meat for God s servants, we need not wonder if their ministry has but little food in it for our souls. When missions pine for means, and the work of the Lord is hindered by an empty treasury, how can we look for a large amount of soul-prosperity?Come, come! What have I given of late? Have I been mean [stingy] to my God? Have I stinted [restrained] my Saviour? This will never do. Let me give my Lord Jesus His tithe by helping the poor, and aiding His work, and then I shall prove His power to bless me on a large scale.
Prayer: Thank you Lord for Your Word to “Prove me now herewith, [Test Me] saith [says] the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it”. Open my ears, please Lord Jesus and let me take action knowing that Your promise should be relied upon. I believe that You died for my sins and that God raised You from the dead. Thank You that my salvation is kept by Your faith. I rejoice with the angels in heaven for each confession of faith all coming by Your grace. Amen.

Pray also that all believers faithfully and rightly divide [proclaim, preach and share] God’s everlasting Word, the Bible, divinely written by God through men of God moved by the Holy Spirit and preserved by God almighty, Himself for the human race.
Please pray that we will faithfully, whole-heartedly and rightly proclaim, present and share the good news that Jesus suffered and died on the cross to provide eternal salvation to all that would look to Him. Pray that all redeemed, blood-bought children of God faithfully minister His Word to everyone everywhere.
MORNING April 24
“And because of all this we make a sure covenant.” --Nehemiah 9:38
--A causa pues de todo eso nosotros hacemos un pacto seguro --Nehemias 9:38
THERE are many occasions in our experience when we may very rightly, and with benefit, renew our covenant [holy contract] with God. After recovery from sickness when, like Hezekiah, we have had a new term of years added to our life, we may fitly do it. After any deliverance from trouble, when our joys bud forth anew, let us again visit the foot of the cross, and renew our consecration. Especially, let us do this after any sin which has grieved the Holy Spirit, or brought dishonor upon the cause of God; let us then look to that blood which can make us whiter than snow, and again offer ourselves unto the Lord. We should not only let our troubles confirm our dedication to God, but our prosperity should do the same. If we ever meet with occasions which deserve to be called “crowning mercies” then, surely, if He hath crowned us, we ought also to crown our God; let us bring forth anew all the jewels of the divine regalia which have been stored in the jewel-closet of our heart, and let our God sit upon the throne of our love, arrayed in royal apparel. If we would learn to profit by our prosperity, we should not need so much adversity. If we would gather from a kiss all the good it might confer upon us, we should not so often smart under the rod. Have we lately received some blessing which we little expected? Has the Lord put our feet in a large room? Can we sing of mercies multiplied? Then this is the day to put our hand upon the horns of the altar, and say, “Bind me here, my God; bind me here with cords, even forever.” Inasmuch as we need the fulfillment of new promises from God, let us offer renewed prayers that our old vows may not be dishonored. Let us this morning make with Him a sure covenant, because of the pains of Jesus which for the last month we have been considering with gratitude.
EVENING April 24
“The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle [dove] is heard in our land.” Song of Solomon 2:12
─Hanse mostrado las flores en la tierra, El tiempo de la canción es venido, Y en nuestro país se ha oído la voz de la tórtola─ Cantares 2:12
SWEET is the season of spring; the long and dreary winter helps us to appreciate its genial warmth, and its promise of summer enhances its present delights. After periods of depression of spirit, it is delightful to behold again the light of the Sun of Righteousness; then our slumbering graces rise from their lethargy [doldrums], like the crocus and the daffodil from their beds of earth; then is our heart made merry with delicious notes of gratitude, far more melodious than the warbling of birds; and the comforting assurance of peace, infinitely more delightful than the turtle’s note, is heard within the soul. Now is the time for the soul to seek communion with her Beloved; now must she rise from her native sordidness, and come away from her old associations. If we do not hoist the sail when the breeze is favorable, we shall be blameworthy; times of refreshing ought not to pass over us unimproved. When Jesus Himself visits us in tenderness, and entreats us to arise, can we be so base [indifferent] as to refuse His request? He has Himself risen that He may draw us after Him: He now by His Holy Spirit, has revived us, that we may, in newness of life, ascend into the heavenlies, and hold communion with Himself. Let our wintry state suffice us for coldness and indifference; when the Lord creates a spring within, let our sap flow with vigor, and our branch blossom with high resolve. O Lord, if it be not spring time in my chilly [cold] heart, I pray Thee make it so, for I am heartily weary [sick and tired] of living at a distance from Thee. Oh! the long and dreary winter, when wilt thou bring it to an end? Come, Holy Spirit, and renew my soul! Quicken Thou me! [give me vigor] restore me, and have mercy upon me! This very night, I earnestly implore the Lord to send a revival of life in HIM!
Sing “Amen” with Harry Belafonte, Won’t you?

The Fanny Crosby Story (45 minute video of most prolific Hymn writer of all time)
A SINNER’S PRAYER:
A person may come to Jesus by believing in Him and (earnestly)
praying like this:
“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and hopeless without You. I will never be able to save myself by my own merits. Without you and your death on the cross I would deserve and spend forever in Hell.
I know that me doing my best or being good (in my own opinion) and justifying my own behavior as "good" or "OK" will never save me.
I look to You, alone Lord Jesus to save me.
I come to You right now. Lord Jesus. Please save me. I believe You died on the cross in my place to pay for my sin debt and put to death my sin nature. I know You always keep your word. Please save me. You say and it’s written in the Bible that you won’t reject anyone who comes to You. I'm coming to You now. Thank You for saving me.
I give myself (all of myself) to You, Lord Jesus. I declare that You are my Savior and Lord. I’m sorry for and I turn away from every sin (every bad thought, every bad word I have spoken and every bad thing I have ever done) and look to You free me from the penalty of sin, to keep me free from the power of sin and empower me overcome any temptation from sin’s presence. Thank you for forgiving all of my sins by dying on the cross to pay the punishment that I deserve. (I was a sinner by nature and by behavior). But now I'm washed clean by Your blood that was shed [poured out] for me at Calvary [at the cross].
Thank you Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was born and that You love me now and will always love me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father other than by You.
Thank you Father that You have made a way for me to see myself as ungodly. But, because You are good You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in the Lord Jesus. You have forgiven me because He took my place and You have provided for me to be born again [born from above, born of the Holy Spirit].
You prompted this desire and faith to believe in Your only begotten Son who, gave up His life and died on the cross to pay my sin debt, not mine alone, but the sins of the whole world.
Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus there is no condemnation. After You raised Him from the dead You gave Him a Glorified, [everlasting] physical body and after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with You in heaven.
I pray this in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus
Christ with a grateful heart. Thank You for saving me heavenly Father and for sending the Comforter, The Spirit of Truth, for my
guidance and solemn instruction into all truth., Amen.”
Thank You Holy Spirit of Truth, The Comforter, The Paraclete [true friend who is by
your side and always has your back] for the new life in Jesus and the victory that comes when I recon myself dead indeed unto sin and alive unto God through Christ Jesus our
Lord trusting You, Holy Spirit for Your empowerment to see this promise fulfilled.
Romans 6:11
Thank you that you, Holy Spirit, always exalt [lift up] the Lord Jesus. John 16:8-11
With all my heart, I thank you Lord Jesus for saving me and
I now pray that You live Your life, Lord Jesus through me. In Your name, Jesus, Amen.
Please allow us to celebrate with you and with the angels in heaven at the news of your new birth. Please write to:

But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received the things which were sent from you, an odor of a sweet smell, Exodus. 29.18 a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God. …But I know that my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:17-19. Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Salute [Greet] every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you All the saints salute [Greet] you, chiefly they that are of *Caesar’s household. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Philippians 4:23 Amen”
* Not only were new converts won to the truth in Caesar's household, but after their conversion they remained in that household. They did not feel at liberty to abandon their post of duty because their surroundings were no longer congenial. [They were now out of their comfort zone but obliged to steadfastly remain and serve there] The truth had found them there, and there they remained, by their changed life and character testifying to the transforming power of their new found faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you for your prayers.
Let us make daily use of our riches, and ever repair [return] to Him as to our own Lord in covenant, taking from Him the supply of all we need with as much boldness as men take money from their own purse [wallet].

Note: This Sermon was referenced in the Men’s Bible Study on Wednesday, August 14th 2024 at South Shores Church and is featured here as an unabridged Audio recording of Sermon # 1245 that was preached originally by Charles Spurgeon in 1875 from his home church, The Metropolitan Tabernacle, London, U.K.

Can You trust this website?
Is it of God?
Is it trustworthy?
Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everything you hear] but [continually] be testing the spirit whether it is of God: because many false prophets have come out in the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesseth [confesses, says] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come out of God, is of God: and every spirit [voice] that confesseth not [doesn't confess] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Hence, I confess [declare and affirm] "Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh."

As Jon remembered veterans, we remember him: Jon Edward Riley (1971-2021) who would, on occasion, just bust-out singing the following songs; sometimes, on the way to church sometimes just singing along with the Elvis Gospel CD that was always kept in the truck’s CD player or,
even better, a song the Lord would spontaneously put in his joyful and loving heart.
I LOVE You Lord by Jared Reynolds
How Great Thou Art with Elvis
Lead Me & Rock-a My Soul by Elvis and friends
…Jon always said “Later”; as in [see’ya later] instead of “good bye”. It was his unique way to bid farewell … He would never say “good-bye”. Now, remembering the sound of his voice saying “Later”, it rings true with a new and deeper meaning and it brings a joyfulness and comfort to the hearts of those he loved so well; those who love him still, and always will.
… we are reminded of the promise of the Hymn:
’Till We Meet Again. Amen.

Long before the Conservative Resurgence, Dr. R.G. Lee was the Southern Baptist champion of biblical infallibility and inerrancy. In his sermon, “The Word of God – Not Broken and Not Bound,” published in 1930, in which Dr. Lee stated the following regarding the HOLY BIBLE: (KJV)
“All [Prophets and Apostles] who wrote are immortalized by their writing of this great Book, supernatural in origin, divine in authorship, human in penmanship, infallible in authority, infinite in scope, universal in interest, personal in application, regenerative in power, inspired [God breathed] in totality.”
Dr. R.G. Lee preached a sermon called Payday Someday over 1,200 times.
Why was it so powerful? Why was it requested and preached so many times?

SACRED LITERATURE:
THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS by John Bunyan is the most famous Allegory, world-wide and the Most widely Published Book of all time and was printed in over 200 Languages. It has NEVER, since 1698, been out-of-print.
Only The King James Bible was more widely published than The Pilgrim’s Progress.
ONLINE PRINT LIBRARY: (No Enrollment Fee or Registration required)
BUNYAN’S ORIGINAL of 1678: The Pilgrim’s Progress Published in 1853 by Logos
REVISED VERSION: The Pilgrim’s Progrefs [sic] 1999 by Barry E. Horner
OLD ENGLISH PRINT: The Pilgrim’s Progress Part II AKA Christiana
(Christian’s wife, Christiana and children; their dangerous journey, and safe arrival at the desired country.)
Pilgrim Progress is the world’s most famous Allegory, It and the Bible were commonly the only books to be found in the cabin of early American Settlers and were loved and read more than any book, second only to the Holy Bible. It’s also considered, by some, as being the world’s first English novel. It’s likely the most published book other than the Bible of all time. There were 1,300 editions printed before 1938, 250 years after the Bunyan’s death. Hence, the world’s most famous Allegory.
Comment on Pilgrim’s Progress by Charles H. Spurgeon from the Spurgeon Sermon
“Christ in You”.
Spurgeon: Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me of Mr. Bunyan’s picture of [the town of] Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [happy melodies] , for the king himself was come. Up to the castle of the heart [main castle] he rode in triumph, and took his royal throne to be henceforth the sole lord and king of the city.
Christ in you is a right royal word. Christ swaying his scepter from the center of your being over every power and faculty, desire and resolve, bringing every thought into captivity to himself, Oh, this is glory begun, and the sure pledge of heaven. Oh, for more of the imperial sovereignty of Jesus, The Messiah; our liberty to be absolutely under his sway.
Spurgeon Sermon: Christ in You, Preached May 13, 1883 Scripture: Colossians 1:27 From: Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit, Volume 29 (cit. II. THE SWEETNESS OF THIS MYSTERY, WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU, § 5)
You may choose to read, listen or share Pilgrim’s Progress with your little ones as a bed time story. It will bless, strengthen, encourage and instruct pilgrims of all ages and will create precious and enduring memories in little ears.
Spurgeon read it for the first time as a precocious five year old reader and would returned to read it over 100 times during the course of his remarkable ministry as a Baptist pastor who is known as The Prince of Preachers .

A SINNER'S PRAYER

PRAYER 16, Part 7 of 8 HE EVER LIVETH.
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them [us]. Hebrews 7:25
Lord, make us useful. Oh! let no believer live to himself. May we be trying to bring others to [Jesus] Christ. May our servants [housekeepers], and work-people [co-workers] , and neighbors all know where we live; and if they do not understand the secret of that life, yet may they see the fruit of that life, and may they ask,
“What is this?”
and inquire their way to [Jesus] Christ that they may be sanctified too. O Lord, we pray Thee visit Thy Church. May none of us imagine that we are living aright unless we are bringing others to the cross.
Oh! keep us from worldliness; keep us much in prayer; keep us with the light of God shining on our forehead. May we be a happy people, not because [we are] screened from affliction, but because we are walking in the light of God.
Again we offer prayer for the many efforts that are scattered abroad today.
May they be good wherever they are. We pray for all churches; Lord, revive them all. Wherever [Jesus] Christ is preached, may it be proved that He draws all men unto Him [Himself].
―John 12:32
May the preaching of [Jesus] Christ today be peculiarly efficacious. Oh! that Thou wouldst [would] raise up many that would preach [Jesus] Christ, simply, boldly, and with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven.
Send us better days; send us days of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.
[In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 262: The Land of the Living.
A saint was once dying, and another who sat by him said “Farewell, brother, I shall never see you again in the land of the living.” “Oh,” said the dying man, “I shall see you again in the land of the living that is up yonder, where I am going; this [place here] is the land of the dying.”
Oh, brethren and sisters, if we should never meet again in the land of the dying, have we a hope that we shall meet in the land of the living and drink the best wine at last?

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK April 23 NO FEAR OF DEATH C.H. Spurgeon 1834–1892
-He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; he that over cometh shall not be hurt of the second death- Revelation 2:11
-El que tiene oido, oiga lo que el Espiritu dice a las iglesias. El que venciere,
no recibirá dano de la muerte Segunda- Apocalipsis 2
The first death we must endure unless the Lord should suddenly come to His temple. For this let us abide [stay] in readiness, awaiting it without fear, since Jesus has transformed death from a dreary cavern into a passage leading to glory.
The thing to be feared is not the first, but the second death; not the parting of the soul from the body, but the final separation of the entire man from God. This is death indeed. This death kills all peace, joy, happiness, hope. When God is gone all is gone. Such a death is far worse than ceasing to be: it is existence without the life which makes existence worth the having.
Now, if by God’s grace we fight on to the end, and conquer in the glorious war, no second death can lay its chill [cold] finger upon us. We shall have no fear of death and hell, for we shall receive a crown of life which fadeth not [doesn’t fade] away. How this nerves [encourages] us for the fight!
Eternal life is worth a life’s battle. To escape the hurt of the second death is a thing worth struggling for throughout a lifetime.
Lord, give us faith, so that we may overcome, and then grant us grace to remain unharmed though sin and Satan dog our heels [track and chase us]!
Prayer: Thank you Lord that anyone who has an ear to hear can hear what the Spirit says unto the churches;
-he that overcomes shall not be hurt of the second death-
Open my ears, please Lord Jesus and let me know as an overcomer, I will not be hurt by the second death. I believe that You died on the cross, for my sins and that God raised You from the dead.
Thank You that my salvation is kept by Your faith. I rejoice with the angels in heaven for each soul that shall be redeemed by grace through faith, in the name of the Lord Jesus, Amen.

MORNING April 23
"Nay, in all these things we are more then conquerors through Him that loved us." —Romans 8:37
¾Antes, en todas estas cosas hacemos más que vencer por medio de aquel que nos amó. —Romanos 8:37
WE go to Christ for forgiveness, and then [we] too often look to the law for power to fight our sins. Paul thus rebukes [scolds] us,
"O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith ? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh ?"
Take your sins to Christ's cross, for the old man can only be crucified there: we are crucified with Him. The only weapon to fight sin with is the spear that pierced the side of Jesus.
To give an illustration, suppose you want to overcome an angry temper, how do you go to work [on it] ?
It is very possible you have never tried the right way of going to Jesus with it.
How did I get salvation? I came to Jesus just as I was, and I trusted Him to save me.
I must kill my angry temper in the same way. It is the only way in which I can ever kill it. I must go to the cross with it, and say to Jesus,
"Lord, I trust You to deliver me from it."
This is the only way to give it a death-blow.
Are you covetous? Do you feel the world entangle you? You may struggle against this evil as long as you please, but if it is your besetting sin, you will never be delivered from it in any way but by the blood of Jesus.
Take it to Christ. Tell Him,
"Lord, I have trusted You, and Your name is Jesus, for You save Your people from their sins; Lord, this is one of my sins;
save me from it!"
Ordinances are nothing without Christ as a means of mortification
[an executioner who must put us to death to each besetting sin].
Your prayers, and your repentances, and your tears—the whole of them put together
—are worth nothing apart from Him.
"None but Jesus can do helpless sinners good;"
…or helpless saints either.
You must be conquerors through Him who loved you, if conquerors at all. Our laurels [symbolic celebratory crowns to be worn by conquerors] must grow among His olives in Gethsemane. [the garden where Jesus surrendered to God’s will to be crucified at Calvary].

EVENING April 23
"Lo, in the midst of the throne ... stood a Lamb as it had been slain. "—Revelation 5:6
—He aquí en medio del trono… estaba un Cordero como inmolado —Apocalipsis 5:6
WHY should our exalted [lifted up] Lord appear in [with] His wounds in glory?
The wounds of Jesus are His glories, His jewels, His sacred ornaments. To the eye of the believer, Jesus is passing fair [beyond handsome] because He is "white and ruddy": white with innocence, and ruddy with his own blood. We see Him as the lily of matchless purity, and as the rose crimsoned with His own gore.
Christ is lovely upon [Mt.] Olivet and Tabor, and by the sea, but oh, there never was such a matchless Christ as He that did hang on the cross. There we behold all His beauties in perfection, all His attributes developed, all His love drawn out, all His character expressed.
Beloved, the wounds of Jesus are far more fair [beautiful] in our eyes than all the splendor and pomp [majesty] of kings.
The thorny crown is more than an imperial diadem [crown]. It is true that He bears not now [doesn’t any longer carry] the scepter [rod of royal authority] of [a] reed, but there was a glory in it that never flashed from [any] scepter of gold.
Jesus wears as His court dress [royal clothing] the appearance of a slain Lamb by which He wooed [attracted] our souls and redeemed us in His complete atonement. Nor are these only the ornaments of Christ:
they are the trophies of His love and of His victory.
He has divided the spoil [booty] with the strong. He has redeemed for Himself a great multitude whom no man can number, and these scars are the memorials of the fight.
Ah!
If Christ thus loves to retain the thought of His sufferings for His people, how precious should his wounds be to us!
Behold how every wound of His
A precious balm distills [fragrance gives],
Which heals the scars that sin had made,
And cures all mortal ills.
"Those wounds are mouths that preach His grace;
The ensigns [emblems] of His love;
The seals of our expected bliss
In paradise above.

A SINNER’S PRAYER: … FOR WHOSOEVER: [For One and all]
Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved … pray like this, won’t you?
“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am hopeless. I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross for my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned to Hell. I have been self-centered from birth. Please forgive me.
I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m guilty and sorry for each and every sin I have done and look to You to forgive me of them all.
I look to You, alone Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You, Lord Jesus, right now to save me. You died on the cross for me, because of my sin and You say, “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21.
Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me, I trust You, to be my Lord and Savior from now on.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins. I ask You to abide in me and give me the desire to always follow You.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross. Even the sins of the whole world.
Thank you, Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me even before I was born and that You still love me now. I love You too.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You have called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [Holy Ghost, Comforter, Spirit of Truth]
Thank You for saving me heavenly Father. With all my heart, thank you Father for saving me in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Allow us to share the joy of your new birth with heaven. Won’t you? Heaven rejoices over each redeemed sinner. Luke 15:7

He created an excellent legacy of gospel preaching and exposition and is known as the “Prince of Preachers”. Spurgeon has been and is today widely read with great benefit from the 1800’s to this present time. He is the beloved founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England (Still thriving TODAY through the faithful preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.) Prayer: Lord Jesus, please bless Your disciples toward the winning of many souls, and help us to be loving and compassionate toward all who are in need, especially those in the household of faith. I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and for His sake, Amen.
Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not praise or exalt Charles H. Spurgeon beyond the honor due him. He didn’t need or want it when he was on earth and would have no need or desire for it now. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM and Him crucified.
Precaution: These Messages and prayers alone will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus. Neither do they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word. (The King James version (KJV), known also as the Authorized Version (AV), is the preferred English Bible because its accuracy and fidelity to the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text) avoid doctrinal and editorial weaknesses found in many contemporary editions.
Prayer Selection by Spurgeon must not be offered as a substitute for personal, intimate fervent, heart-felt, prayer. It is intended rather, to warm the hearts of those who are in prayer seeking a season of authentic two-way, heart-to-heart fellowship and prayer with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit. Read from the NT Book of Romans Chapter 8.
