We thank Thee, Lord, for every leaf [page] of the Book [The Holy Bible], not only for its promises which are inexpressibly sweet, but for its precepts [teachings] in which our soul delights, and especially for the revelation of Thy Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

O God, we thank Thee for the manifestation of Him even in the types and shadows of the Old Testament. These are inexpressibly glorious to us, full of wondrous value, inexpressibly dear because in them and through them we see the Lord. But we bless Thee much more for the clear light of the New Testament, for giving us the key to all the secrets of the Old Testament, for now, reading the scriptures of the new covenant, [New Testament] we understand the language of the old covenant and are made to joy and to rejoice therein.

I remember when once my young heart ached in boyhood, when I first loved the Savior. I was far away from father and mother, and all I loved, and I thought my soul would burst; for I was an usher [teacher’s aide] in a school, in a place where I could meet with no sympathy or help.

Well, I went to my chamber, [bedroom] and told my little griefs into the ears of Jesus. They were great griefs to me then, *though they are nothing now. When I just whispered them on my knees into the ear of him who had loved me with an everlasting love, oh! it was so sweet, none can tell.

If I had told them to somebody else, they would have told them again; but he, my blessed confidant, he knows my secrets, and he never tells them. Oh! what can you do [you] that have got no Jesus to tell your troubles to?

When true religion is ready to die out among the wealthy it finds a home among the poor of this world, [who are] rich in faith. The Lord has even now his faithful remnant. Am I one of them? 

Perhaps it is because men are afflicted and poor that they learn to trust in the name of the Lord. He that hath no money must try what he can do on trust. He whose own name is good for nothing in his own esteem, acts wisely to rest in another name, even that best of names, the name of Jehovah.

God will always have a trusting people, and these will be an afflicted [crippled] and poor people.

Little as the world thinks of them, their being left in the midst of a nation is the channel of untold blessings to it [the world] .

Here we have the conserving salt which keeps in check the corruption which is in the world through lust [covetousness and greed].  Again, the question comes home to each one of us, Am I one of them? Am I afflicted [crippled, compromised] by the sin within me and around me? Am I poor in spirit, poor spiritually in my own judgment? Do I trust in the Lord?

That is the main business.

Jesus reveals the name, the character, and the person of God; am I trusting in Him? If so, I am left in this world for a purpose. Lord, help me to fulfill it.
 

Prayer:  Lord, thank you for Your promise. I do trust in your name, Lord Jesus knowing that in Your name I will be blessed and kept free from sin. Please use me as salt of the earth to stand against corruption, to be your reflection  of integrity and to faithfully trust in and follow You.  I’m  asking, in faith knowing that You always keep Your word. Thank You in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.

SOME Christians are sadly prone to look on the dark side of everything, and to dwell more on what they have gone through than on what God has done for them. Ask for their impression of the Christian life, and they will describe their continual conflicts, their deep afflictions, their sad adversities, and the sinfulness of their hearts, yet with scarcely any allusion to the mercy and help which God has given them. But a Christian whose soul is in a healthy state will come forward joyously and say, "I will speak, not about myself, but to the honor of my God. He has brought me up out of a horrible pit, and out of the miry clay, and set my feet on a rock, and established my goings: and He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God. The Lord has done great things for me, whereof I am glad." Such an abstract of experience as this is the very best that any  child of God can present. It is true that we endure trials, but it is just as true that we are delivered out of them. It is true that we have our corruptions, and mournfully do we know this, but it is quite as true that we have an all-sufficient Savior, who overcomes these corruptions, and delivers us from their dominion. In looking back, it would be wrong to deny that we have been in the Slough of Despond, [The “Swamp of Despondency” described in Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress] and have crept along the Valley of Humiliation [op. cit], but it would be equally wicked to forget that we have been through them safely and profitably; we have not remained in them, thanks to our Almighty Helper and Leader who has brought us "out into a wealthy place."
The deeper our troubles, the louder our thanks to God, who has led us through all, and preserved us until now. Our griefs cannot mar [deface or vandalize] the melody of our praise; we reckon [rely-on , consider]  them to be the bass [lower supporting voice] part of our life's song, "He has done great things for us, whereof we are glad."

THE Greek word here rendered search signifies a strict, close, diligent, curious search, such as men make when they are seeking gold, or hunters when they are in earnest after game [hunting for food]. We must not rest content with superficially reading a chapter or two, but with the candle of the Spirit we must deliberately seek out the hidden meaning of the word. Holy Scripture requires searching—much of it can only be learned by careful study. There is milk for babes, but also meat for strong men. The rabbis wisely say that a mountain of matter hangs on every word, yes, on every tittle [crossing each “t”] of  Scripture. 
Tertullian [AD 160—230, The Carthaginian theologian] exclaims, "I adore the fullness of the Scriptures."  No man who merely skims the book of God can profit thereby; we must dig and mine until we obtain the hidden treasure. The door of the word only opens to the key of diligence. The Scriptures claim [merit and require]  searching. They are the writings of God, bearing the divine stamp and imprimatur—who shall dare to treat them with levity [light heartedly, seeking amusement and entertainment]?    He who despises them despises the God who wrote them. God forbid that any of us should allow our Bibles to become swift witnesses against us in the great day of account.

The word of God will repay searching. God does not bid us sift a mountain of chaff with here and there a grain of wheat in it, but the Bible is winnowed corn  [pure grain with no chaff]—we have but to open the granary [silo]  door and find it. Scripture grows on the student. It is full of surprises.

Under the teaching of the Holy Spirit, to the searching eye it glows with splendor of revelation, like a vast temple paved with wrought gold, and roofed with rubies, emeralds, and all manner of gems. No merchandise [is] like the merchandise of Scripture truth.

Lastly, the Scriptures reveal Jesus: "They [the Scriptures] are they which testify of Me."  No more powerful motive can be urged  [recommended earnestly and persistently]   on Bible readers than this: he who finds Jesus finds life, heaven, all things. Happy [is]  he who, searching his Bible, discovers his Savior.  

A SINNER’S  PRAYER 

Whosoever shall call on the name of the lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

Pray, calling on the name of the Lord Jesus, like this. Won’t you? 

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and hopeless to save myself. Without you and your blood that was shed for me and Your death on the cross  I would spend eternity in Hell’s fire.

Thank you Lord Jesus that You love me and died for me before I was born and that You have always loved me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father but by You.  

Thank you, Father that You have caused for me to see myself as I am; a lost sinner.  But,  because of Your love and goodness, You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in You, Lord Jesus.  You took my place on the cross and provided the way for  me to be forgiven. Thank You.
Thank You that You prompted a desire in me to believe in You, the only begotten  Son of God who died on the cross to be the sacrifice that would  atone for my sins.

Thank You, Father for Your love that allowed Jesus to suffer and die in my place. Thank You that You raised Jesus from the dead. He is RISEN and is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus I am free. You raised Jesus from the dead, gave Him a Glorified body and after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with You  in heaven.  Thank you, Father,  for saving me in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Lord Jesus *Christ

So, Dr. Sorenson, “I hear You are King James Only.”
 
No, I’m Traditional Text only. But if you come to the view and the conviction of being Traditional Text only, you will be Only King James.

The issue is not translational.

Marketing ploys by publishing companies with little basis in reality would have us to believe that the new versions  are:
 

• Easier to read.

• More modern.

• More accurate (Not  true)
   

The truth is that the KJV remains The most popular. (is still the most popularly read Bible in America). Over five billion copies of the King James (1769) is greater than all the other versions and editions combined.

The issue comes down to the textual issue. By That, I refer to the underlying Greek text. I guess we could say texts, plural but particularly that of the New Testament. On the one hand is the Traditional Text from which the only major English translation is the King James Version of the Bible. The Traditional Text.

On the other hand, is the Critical Text sometimes called the eclectic text from whence all the other translations come. And some will say well there really is no difference between them. The difference you could amount to is just the footnotes in the bottom of a page. (This is Not true) He was not dishonest but just repeating what someone had told him.
