A SINNERS PRAYER 

 

PRAYER 1, Part 4 of 7

HELP FROM ON HIGH.

Lord, sanctify us [set us apart and make us Holy for Your purpose]. Oh! that Thy spirit might come and saturate every faculty, [instrumentality] subdue every passion, and use every power of our nature for obedience to God. Come, Holy Spirit, we do know Thee; Thou hast [have] often overshadowed us. Come, more fully take possession of us. Standing now as we feel we are right up at the mercy seat our very highest prayer is for

perfect holiness, complete consecration, entire cleansing from every evil.

Take our heart, our head, our hands, our feet, and use us all for Thee. Lord, take our substance, let us not hoard [stockpile] it for ourselves, nor spend it for ourselves. Take our talent, let us not try to educate ourselves that we may have the repute [reputation] of being wise, but let every gain of mental attainment be still that we may serve Thee better.

May every breath be for Thee; may every minute be spent for Thee. Help us to live while we live and while we are busy in the world as we must be, for we are called to it, may we sanctify the world for Thy service.

May we be lumps of salt in the midst of society. May our spirit and temper as well as our conversation be heavenly; may there be an influence about us that shall make the world the better before we leave it. Lord, hear us in this thing [in Jesus name, Amen].

ANECDOTE 4: AMBITION, TRUE GREATNESS. C.H. Spurgeon 1834-1892

I had a good friend who preserved the axle-tree [axle and wheel spindles] of the truck [cart] in which he wheeled home his goods when he first came to London.

It was placed over his front door, and he never blushed to tell how he came up from the country, worked hard, and made his way in the world. I like this a deal better than the affected gentility [gentle folk] which forgets the lone half-crown which pined in solitude [was all the money they had] in their pockets when they entered this city.

They are indignant [offended] if you remind them of their poor old father in the country, for they have discovered that the family is very ancient and honorable; in fact, one of their ancestors came over with the Conqueror.

I have never felt any wish to be related to that set of vagabonds; but tastes differ, and there are some who think that they must be superior beings because they are descended from Norman freebooters [pirates].

Nobodies suddenly swell [puff up] as if they were everybody [something special].

Observe that Jacob does not say, "Years ago I was at home with my father Isaac, a man of large estate." Nor does he talk of his grandfather Abraham as a nobleman of an ancient family in Ur, of the Chaldees, who was entertained by monarchs. No, he was not so silly as to boast of aristocracy and wealth, but he frankly owns his early poverty:

"With my staff, a poor, lonely, friendless man, I crossed this Jordan, and now I am become two bands [tribes of Judah and Israel]."

It humbles him to think of what he was, but at the same time it strengthens him in prayer; for in effect he pleads,

"Lord, hast thou made two bands [clans] of me that Esau may have the more to destroy ? Hast thou given me these children that they may fall by the sword?"

So again, I say, that which humbled also encouraged him:

he found his strength in prayer in those very things which furnished motives for lowliness.

Strangers, sojourners, and servants upon hire were not to eat of holy things. It is so in spiritual matters still. But two classes were free [to eat] at the sacred table, those who were bought with the priest’s money, and those who were born into the priest’s house.

Bought and born, these were the two indisputable proofs of a right to holy things.

Bought. Our great High Priest has bought with a price all those who put their trust in Him. They are His absolute property — altogether the Lord’s. Not for what they are in themselves, but for their owner’s sake they are admitted into the same privileges which He Himself enjoys, and -they shall eat of his meat.- He has meat to eat which worldlings [the unredeemed] know not of. [But] -Because ye belong to Christ,- therefore shall ye share from your Lord.

Born. This an equally sure way to privilege; if born in the Priest’s house we take our place with the rest of the family. Regeneration makes us fellow-heirs, and of the same body; and, therefore, the peace, the joy, the glory, which the Father has given to [Jesus] Christ, [Jesus] Christ has given to us.

Redemption [purchase] and regeneration [birth] have given us a double claim to the divine permit of [right to] this promise.

Prayer: Thank You Lord, for bought and born holy entitlements. Thank You that this promise comes by way of purchase or as our birthright. Help us to share fellowship and holy food [Your Word] from You, Lord. Oh, for joy! The same privilege God has given to Jesus, Jesus gives to us. What a blessing! This gift is ours not because of what we are in ourselves, but for our owner’s [Savior’s] sake. Thank You Lord Jesus, Amen.

MORNING August 3

"The Lamb is the light thereof. " —Revelation 21:23

QUIETLY contemplate the Lamb as the light of heaven. Light in Scripture is the emblem of joy. The joy of the saints in heaven is comprised in this:

Jesus chose us, loved us, bought us, cleansed us, robed [clothed] us, kept us, glorified us: we are here entirely through [because of] the Lord Jesus.

Each one of these thoughts will be to them like a cluster of the grapes of Eshcol [of the highest quality].

Light is also the cause of beauty. Nought [nothing] of beauty is left when light is gone. Without light no radiance flashes from the sapphire [gem], no peaceful ray proceeds from the pearl; and thus all the beauty of the saints above [in heaven] comes from Jesus.

As planets, they reflect the light of the Sun of Righteousness; they live as [sun] beams proceeding from the central orb [the sun]. If He withdrew, they must [would] die; if His glory were veiled [hidden], their glory must [would] expire. Light is also the emblem of knowledge. In heaven our knowledge will be perfect, but the Lord Jesus Himself will be the fountain [source] of it.

Dark providences, never understood before, will then be clearly seen, and all that puzzles us now will become plain to us in the light of the Lamb. Oh, what unfoldings [revelations] there will be and what glorifying of the God of love!

Light also means manifestation. Light manifests. In this world it doth not yet appear what we shall be. God's people are a hidden people, but when Christ receives His people into heaven, He will touch them with the wand of His own love, and change them into the image of His manifested glory.

They were poor and wretched, but what a transformation! They were stained with sin, but one touch of His finger, and they are bright as the sun and clear as crystal. Oh, what a manifestation! All this proceeds from the exalted Lamb.

Whatever there may be of effulgent [magnificent] splendor, Jesus shall be the center and soul of it all.

Oh, to be present and to see Him in His own light, the King of kings, and Lord of lords!

JESUS is passing through the throng [crowd] to the house of Jairus, to raise the ruler's dead daughter; but He is so profuse in [full of] goodness that He works another miracle while upon the road.

While yet this rod of Aaron [Jesus Christ] bears the blossom of an unaccomplished wonder, it yields the ripe almonds of a perfect work of mercy. It is enough for us, if we have some one purpose, straightway to go and accomplish it; it were [would be] imprudent to expend our energies [getting distracted] by the way. Hastening to the rescue of a drowning friend, we cannot afford to exhaust our strength upon another in like danger. It is enough for a tree to yield one sort of fruit, and for a man to fulfill his own peculiar calling.

 

But our Master knows no limit of power or boundary of mission. He is so prolific [completely full] of grace, that like the sun which shines as it rolls onward in its orbit, His path is radiant with loving-kindness. He is a swift arrow of love, which not only reaches its ordained target, but perfumes the air through which it flies.

Virtue is ever more going out of Jesus, as sweet odors exhale from flowers; and it always will be emanating [coming] from Him, as water from a sparkling fountain. What delightful encouragement this truth affords [brings] us! If our Lord is so ready to heal the sick and bless the needy, then,

my soul, be not slow to put yourself in His way, that He may smile on you.

Be not slack in asking, if He be so abundant in bestowing [giving]. Give earnest heed to [Pay close attention to and hear] His word now, and at all times, that Jesus may speak through it [His word] to your heart.

Where He is to be found, there make your resort [camp] that you may obtain His blessing.

When He is present to heal, may He not [Won’t He] heal you?

But surely He is present even now, for He always comes to hearts that need Him. And do you not [don’t you] need Him?

Ah, He knows how much!

You Son of David [Lord Jesus] , turn your eye and look on the distress [difficulty] which is now before You, and make Your suppliant [petitioner] whole.

A SINNER’S PRAYER:   … FOR WHOSOEVER: [For One and all]

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved     … pray like this, won’t you?   

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am hopeless.  I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross for my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned to Hell. I have been  self-centered from birth.  Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m guilty and sorry for each and every sin I have done and look to You to forgive me of them all. 
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You,  Lord Jesus, right now to save me.  You died on the cross for me, because of my sin  and You say,  “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21.

 

Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me,  I trust You, to  be my Lord and Savior from now on.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins.  I ask You to abide in me and give me the desire to always follow You.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross.  Even the sins of the whole world.

Thank you,  Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me even before I was born and that You still love me now. I love You too.
 

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You have called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting  in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. Romans  8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [Holy Ghost, Comforter, Spirit of Truth]
 

Thank You for saving me heavenly Father. With all my heart, thank you Father for saving me in Jesus’ name,  Amen.

Allow us to share the joy of your new birth with heaven. Won’t you? Heaven rejoices over each redeemed sinner. Luke 15:7

In defense of the Masoretic Hebrew of the Old Testament and the GreekTextus Receptus:
 

The Incomplete and unsealed codices of Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are not translated from the majority texts, [Original Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus]. Sinaiticus and Vaticanus present variant, ambiguous and erroneous readings rather than that of the well-established and settled texts. They disagree often with one another as well as with the settled majority texts. Thus, an attempt to create a pretext that will continue to justify a never-ending demand for additional editions and interpretations. These unsettled differences and bias in certain sectarian doctrine [dogma] have led to the production of multiple “modern” editions with ambiguities, many variant readings and confusion from the explosion of unending, new editions.

Profit-driven publishers have embraced such an economic windfall to sell a continual flow of “new and better” English edition of The Bible. They give too little attention to the fidelity and accuracy already settled [in heaven] in majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the  Greek Textus Receptus.

God, Himself, providentially protects and preserves His Word. His Word is the God-breathed, self-authenticating, immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful Word, settled in heaven. He is not the author of confusion.

The above link is to search for specific words or Scriptures in the King James inerrant and infallible  English Version  (KJV)  because it is providentially protected and preserved by GOD Himself through the only translation into English by faithful brethren from the 5,312 established majority text manuscripts MT from which the New Testament  Greek Textus Receptus [received text] was taken  and the Hebrew Masoretic Text of the Old Testament (Jewish Tanakh).  These manuscripts are providentially protected, and frequently give greater glory to God when compared to variant readings of all modern translations from Modern Critical Texts based on only 55 hand picked inferior Greek manuscripts fabricated from either Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland. Both of these Greek textual sources follow an assumption that OLDER IS BETTER. Of course, this assumption is not valid if the older manuscripts contain error.

 

The established majority manuscripts and the Textus Receptus avoid doctrinal error, and inaccuracies in translation, uninspired editorial notations, variant or ambiguous readings which taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus.

Copyright: The King James Version is distinguished by the requirement of Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed by the Cambridge University Press, the Crown’s authorized printer. No one other than the Crown’s printer, is allowed print, copy or import the King James Bible into Great Brittan by order of the Crown.

 

In the United States there is no Copyright protection and the KJV  is deemed Public Domain. If a new publication changes at least a 10% of an existing  publication a lucrative Copyright can be granted. Therefore  the NKJV and many other copyrighted translations. Only the King James Version New Testament is unique from among the over 100 English translations that follow modern textual criticism and only the King James is translated from the superior Greek Textus Receptus as its Primary time tested and self-authenticating Greek text Source.

In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:

The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,

thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on a defective text. Those who want to honor the Word of God must not promote the use of any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is entirely  evil in itself, but because being contented to use a weakened version rather than the existing, preserved, without error unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has preserved for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it would be to Him if His people now chose instead to use versions that are  based on  defective Greek manuscript  created by Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Aland.
