BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL! Part 5 of 8

       Take away from us everything which now might hinder our delighting ourselves in God [in You, Lord]. May we come to God [to You] this day with a supreme joy; may we speak of Him [of You] as “God my exceeding joy; yea, mine own God is He. [You are my God]” O God give us a sense of property [ownership] in Thyself [Yourself]. May we come near to Thee [You] , having no doubt and nothing whatsoever that shall spoil the beautiful simplicity of a childlike faith which looks up into the great face of God and saith [says], “Our Father, which art in heaven.”

There are those who [have] never repented of sin and never believed in Christ, and consequently the wrath of God abideth [God’s anger is] on them.  They are living without God, they are living in darkness. O God in Thy [Your] great mercy look upon them. They do not look at Thee [You], but do Thou [You, do won’t You] look at them. May the sinner see his sin and mourn [have Godly sorrow from] it; see His Savior and accept Him; see himself saved, and go on his way rejoicing. Father, do grant [give] us this.

George Whitefield said, when he preached on Kennington  Common, where they threw dead cats and rotten eggs at him, “This is only the manure [dung] of Methodism, [referring to the persecution]  the best thing in the world to make it grow; throw away [keep throwing it] as fast as you please” [Bring it on, the faster, the better]  And when a stone cut him on the forehead, he seemed to preach the better for a little *blood-letting.

Three armies were perishing of thirst, and the Lord interposed [intervened powerfully].  Although He sent neither cloud nor rain, yet He supplied an abundance of water. He is not dependent upon ordinary methods, but can surprise His people with novelties [unexpected works] of wisdom and power. Thus are we made to see more of God than ordinary processes could have revealed.

Although the Lord may not appear for us in the way we expect, or desire, or suppose, yet He will in some way or other provide for us. It is a great blessing for us to be raised above looking to secondary causes, so that we may gaze into the face of the great First Cause  [God Himself]. Have we this day grace enough to make trenches [prepare to receive God’s blessing] into which the divine blessing may flow? Alas! we too often fail in the exhibition of true and practical faith. Let us this day be on the outlook for answers to prayer.

 

As the child who went to a meeting to pray for rain took an umbrella with her; so let us truly and practically expect the Lord to bless us. Let us make the valley full of ditches and expect to see them all filled.

Prayer: Thank You Lord that Your provision for us [your redeemed children] is limitless as to your means. Thank You that Your choice of method is always perfect. Help me to prepare and be patient waiting for Your certain faithfulness. I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus, Amen.

vis. The Textus Receptus TR [Received Text] is faithfully rendered from an overwhelming agreement among the majority of the 5,321 extant New Testament, Greek manuscripts  known as the  MT. [Majority Text]. The Old Testament Hebrew and Aramaic manuscripts were meticulously copied by hand [manuscript] by the Masoretic scribes. These are the manuscripts  from which  the Old Testament King James version  was translated onto English.

In order to produce the Modern Greek to support the Critical Text theory, only Fifty-five manuscripts from the totality of the 5,321 Majority Text MT were hand-picked and they were selected from  the inferior Sinaiticus and Vaticanus codices. These fifty-five manuscripts  brought  variant readings and were created, ostensibly, to justify the creation of an alternative Greek text to the Textus Receptus which had been under attack by Westcott & Hort and Nestle & Aland for many years.

The Codices known as Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are inferior as they often are in disagreement with one another and give rise to variant readings They have been infused with invented Greek text where no Greek text from the Fifty-five hand-picked manuscripts was found.

They invented but did not disclose themselves as the source  of the new Greek translation.  They supplied this new Greek translation to all Committee members with the aim to revise the King James Bible. However, They insisted on a code of silence as to the authorship of the Greek Text from which all the Revisions were to be based. All members of the committee were required to agree to this code.

Modern textual criticism is based on the assumption that older manuscripts are, de-facto, more accurate. Actually, the continuous and unsettled changes from their  variant readings reflect error, doctrinal ambiguities and biases not supported by the Majority Text.

Scripture based on The Greek text of Westcott &  Hort and Nestle & Aland of a secular or denominational tradition allow modern textual criticism  to  rob God of His Sovereignty, Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Immutability, Inerrancy and  Infallibility and to diminish Glory from His infinite and everlasting “I AM” that deserves and demands ALL GLORY.

        A PRIMARY qualification for serving God with any amount of success and for doing God's work well and triumphantly is a sense of our own weakness.  When God's warrior marches forth to battle strong in his own might, when he boasts,

"I know that I shall conquer, my own right arm and my conquering  sword  shall get unto me the victory," defeat is not far distant [far away].

      God will not go forth with that man who marches in his own strength. He who reckons on victory thus has reckoned wrongly, for "it is not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith [says] the Lord of hosts." They who go forth to fight, boasting of their prowess, shall return with their gay [colorful and bright]  banners trailed [dragging] in the dust, and their armor stained with disgrace. 

Those who serve God must serve Him in His own way, and in His strength, or He will never accept their service. That which man does, unaided by divine strength, God can never own [accept]. 

 

       The mere fruits of the earth He casts away; He will only reap that corn, the seed of which was sown from heaven, watered by grace, and ripened by the sun of divine love. God will empty out all that you have, before He will put His own into you; He will first clean out your granaries before He will fill them with the finest of the wheat.

The river of God is full of water; but not one drop of it flows from earthly springs. God will have no strength used in His battles but the strength which He Himself imparts. Are you mourning over your own weakness? Take courage, for there must be a consciousness of weakness before the Lord will give you victory. Your emptiness is but the preparation for your being filled, and your castingdown  [being thrown down]   is but the making ready for your lifting up.

 

                                           When I am weak then am I strong, 
                                         Grace is my shield and Christ my song.

 

 

 EVENING    November 4

       No  lips can tell the love of Christ to the heart until Jesus Himself speaks within [to a person’s heart]. Descriptions all fall flat and tame unless the Holy Ghost fills them with life and power; until our Immanuel [God with us] reveals Himself within, the soul sees Him not [doesn’t see Him].

      If you would see the sun, would you gather together the common means of illumination, and seek in that way to behold the orb of day? No, the wise man knoweth [knows] that the sun must reveal itself, and only by its own blaze can that mighty lamp be seen. It is so with Christ [Jesus]. 

      "Blessed art thou, Simon  Bar-jona: " said He to Peter, "for flesh and blood hath not revealed this unto thee." 

 

       Purify flesh and blood by any educational process you may select, elevate mental faculties to the highest degree of intellectual power, yet none of these can reveal Christ.

 

       The Spirit of God must come with power and overshadow the man with His wings, and then in that mystic holy of holies the Lord Jesus must display [reveal] Himself to the sanctified [spiritually empowered] eye, as He does not to the purblind [lacking discernment and understanding] sons of men. Christ must be His own mirror.
 

       The great mass of this bleary-eyed world can see nothing of the ineffable

[unspeakable] glories of Immanuel. He stands before them without form or comeliness   [shape, regal honor or attractiveness], a root out of a dry ground, rejected by the vain and despised by the proud. Isaiah 53:2  Only where the Spirit has touched the eye with eye-salve, quickened the heart with divine life, and educated the soul to a heavenly taste, only there is He understood. 

"To you that believe He is precious"; to you He is the chief corner-stone, the Rock of your salvation, your all in all; but to others He is "a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence." Happy are those to whom our Lord manifests Himself, for His promise to such is that He will make His abode [He will live] with them. 

0 Jesus, our Lord, our heart is open, come in, and go out no more forever. Show Yourself  to us now!

 

Favor us with a glimpse of Your all-conquering charms

Whosoever shall call on the name of the lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

 Pray and call on the name of the Lord Jesus, like this. Won’t you? 

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and hopeless to save myself. Without you and your blood that was shed for me and Your death on the cross  I would spend eternity in Hell’s fire.

Thank you Lord Jesus that You love me and died for me before I was born and that You have always loved me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father but by You.  

Thank you, Father that You have caused for me to see myself as I am; a lost sinner.  But,  because of Your love and goodness, You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in You, Lord Jesus.  You took my place on the cross and provided the way for  me to be forgiven. Thank You.
Thank You that You prompted a desire in me to believe in You, the only begotten  Son of God who died on the cross to be the sacrifice that would  atone for my sins.

Thank You, Father for Your love that allowed Jesus to suffer and die in my place. Thank You that You raised Jesus from the dead. He is RISEN and is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus I am free.

You raised Jesus from the dead, gave Him a Glorified body and after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with You  in heaven.  

Thank you, Father,  for saving me in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

His ministry continues to flourish from the original (Spurgeon’s)  Metropolitan Tabernacle,  a church fellowship began in 1650 with the present  building constructed by members of the congregation in 1861 and rebuilt after the second world war..

        Spurgeon's written materials are for the edification of the church body as well as a great benefit, blessing and challenge to all readers. Our desire is that the written Word of God will become the Living  Word in each and every reader. God has preserved His Word through  The Masoretic Hebrew and Aramaic languages of the Old Testament and the GreekTextus Receptus of the New Testament:
 

In contrast, the Incomplete and unsealed codices of Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are not translated from the  5,321 Majority Text Greek manuscripts, that became the Textus Receptus [Original Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus].

 

The Sinaiticus and Vaticanus manuscripts  present variant readings rather than that of the well-established and settled majority Texts. They disagree often with one another as well as with the settled majority texts. Thus, an attempt to create a pretext that will continue to justify a never-ending demand for additional editions and interpretations. These unsettled differences and bias in certain sectarian doctrine [dogma] have led to the production of multiple “modern” editions with ambiguities, many variant readings and confusion from the explosion of unending, new editions.

Profit-driven publishers have embraced such an economic windfall to sell a continual flow of “new and better” English edition of The Bible. They give too little attention to the fidelity and accuracy already settled [in heaven] in majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the  Greek Textus Receptus.

 

Psalm 119:89-90

God, Himself, providentially protects and preserves His Word. His Word is the God-breathed, self-authenticating, immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful Word, settled in heaven. He is not the author of confusion.

The above link is to search for specific words or Scriptures in the King James inerrant and infallible  English Version  (KJV)  because it is providentially protected and preserved by GOD Himself through the only translation into English by faithful brethren from the 5,312 established majority text manuscripts MT from which the New Testament  Greek Textus Receptus [received text] was taken  and the Hebrew Masoretic Text of the Old Testament (Jewish Tanakh).  These manuscripts are providentially protected, and give greater glory to God when compared to the variant readings of all post KJV  translations. Modern Critical Texts are based on only 55 hand picked Greek manuscripts fabricated from either Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland. Both of these Greek textual sources make the assumption that OLDER IS BETTER. Of course, this assumption is not valid in any place   the older manuscripts err from the Textus Receptus..

 

The established majority manuscripts and the Textus Receptus avoid doctrinal error, and inaccuracies in translation, uninspired editorial notations, variant or ambiguous readings which taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus.

Copyright: The King James Version is also distinguished by the requirement of Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed by the Cambridge University Press, the Crown’s authorized printer. No one other than the Crown’s printer, is allowed print, copy or import the King James Bible into Great Brittan by order of the Crown.

 

In the United States there is no Copyright protection to restrict the free printing of the KJV. It is the only Bible version that may be printed freely as Public Domain. Any  new publication that changes 10% or more of any existing  publication may procure a lucrative Copyright protection to restrict unauthorized printing of the new publication. In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:

The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,

thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort or Nestle & Aland.is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on  defective text. Those who honor the Word of God must not promote any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is entirely  evil in itself, but because being contented to use a weakened version rather than the existing, preserved, inerrant unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has preserved for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it must  be to Him if His people now chose versions that are  based on  the defective and inferior  Greek manuscript  invented  by Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Aland.

 

Let the biblical story of Nadab and Abihu be a lesson for us all:
