This powerful, inspirational docudrama faithfully recreates the times of C.H. Spurgeon and brings the “people’s preacher” to life as it follows his trials and triumphs with historical accuracy. Here is the intimate story of one of the greatest preachers in the history of the church. We follow him from his youth where, as a young preacher he is surprisingly called to minister in London and soon captures the love and respect of the nation. He goes on to become one of its most influential figures. This powerful, inspirational docudrama faithfully recreates the times of C.H. Spurgeon and brings the “people’s preacher” to life as it follows his trials and triumphs with historical accuracy. Made by the award-winning Christian Television Association and filmed on location in England, Scotland, France and Germany, this film vividly captures the spirit and message of a man whose eventful — and sometimes controversial — life is highly relevant to the twenty-first century.

A SINNER’S PRAYER
SELECTIONS:
PRAYER 8, Part 2 of 7 A PRAYER FOR HOLINESS.
May we love God; may we love Thee, O *Savior; may we love the people of God as being members of one body in connection with Thee.
May we love the guilty world with that love which desires its salvation and conversion; and may we love not in word only, but indeed and in truth. May we help the helpless, comfort the mourner, sympathize with the widow and fatherless, and may we be always ready to put up with wrong, to be long suffering, to be very patient, full of forgiveness, counting it a small thing that we should forgive our fellow-men since we have been forgiven of God.
Lord, tune our hearts to love, and then give us an inward peace, a restfulness about everything. [In the name of the Lord Jesus] Amen.

ANECDOTE 192: “Little Faith.”
There are some Christians who never get out of [graduate from] little faith all the while they are here [Alive on earth] . You notice in John Bunyan’s “Pilgrim’s Progress,” (the world’s most famous allegory, that was for many years taught in Public Schools) how many “Little-Faiths” he mentions.
There is our old friend “Ready-to-halt”, who went all the way to the celestial city on crutches, but left them when he went into the river Jordan.
Then there is little “Feeble-mind”, who carried his feeble mind with him all the way to the banks of the river and then left it, and ordered it to be buried in a dunghill [a sewage polluted landfill] that none might inherit it. Then there is “Mr. Fearing”, too, who used to stumble over a straw, and was always frightened if he saw a drop of rain, because he thought the floods of heaven were let loose upon him.
And you remember “Mr. Despondency” and “Miss Much-afraid”, who were so long locked up in the dungeon of “Giant Despair” that they were almost starved to death, and there was little left of them but skin and bone; and poor “Mr. Feeble-mind”, who had been taken into the cave of “Giant Slay-good” who was about to eat him, when “Great-heart” came to his deliverance.
John Bunyan was a very wise man. He has put a great many of those characters in his book, because there are a great many of them. He has not left us with one “Mr. Ready-to-halt”, but he has given us seven or eight graphic characters, because he himself in his own time had been one of them, and he had known many others who had walked in the same path.
FAITH’S CHECKBOOK FEBRUARY 10 A CONSTANT WITNESS by C.H. Spurgeon
-For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard — Acts 22:15
-Porque has de ser testigo suyo a todos los hombres, de lo que has visto y oido. - Hechos 22:15
Paul was chosen to see and hear the Lord speaking to him out of Heaven. This divine election was a high privilege for himself; but it was not intended to end with him, it was meant to have an influence upon others; yea, upon all men. It is to Paul that Europe owes the gospel at this hour [even now]. It is ours in our measure to be witnesses of that which the Lord has revealed to us, and it is at our peril that we hide the precious revelation.
First, we must see and hear, or we shall have not: Thou shalt be his witness. It must be constant and all absorbing; we are to be this, above all other things, and to the exclusion of many other matters.
Our witness must not be to a select few who will cheerfully receive us; but to all men
— to all whom we can reach, young or old, rich or poor, good or bad. We must never be silent like those who are possessed by a dumb [unable to speak] spirit; for the text before us is a command, and a promise, and we must not miss it.
-Thou shalt be his witness- -Ye are my witnesses, saith [says] the Lord.- Lord, fulfill this word to me also!
Prayer: Thank you Lord for revealing Your purpose, will and promise to us all. We will declare what we have seen and heard. We are Your people: and we shall say, “Thou art my God.” Please purify me and all believers, forgive each of our sins and help me to trust You and obey your will for me, each day, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
MORNING February 10
"I know how to abound [have abundance]." —Philippians 4:12
─Sé tener abundancia─ Filipenses 4:12
THERE are many who know "how to be abased [live with little]" who have not learned "how to abound [live with wealth ]." When they are set on the top of a pinnacle they [become concieted] grow dizzy and are ready to fall. The Christian far oftener disgraces his profession in prosperity than in adversity.
It is a dangerous thing to be prosperous.
The crucible of adversity is a less severe trial to the Christian than the [re]fining-pot of prosperity. Oh, what leanness of soul and neglect of spiritual things have been brought on through the very mercies and bounties [abundant blessings] of God! Yet this is not a matter of necessity, for the apostle [Paul] tells us that he knew how to abound. When he had much he knew how to use it. Abundant grace enabled him to bear abundant prosperity. When he had a full sail [fullness of God’s abundance] he was loaded with much ballast [weights used to balance a ship], and so floated safely. It needs [requires] more than human skill to carry the brimming [overflowing] cup of mortal joy [temporal riches] with a steady hand, yet Paul had learned that skill, for he declares,
"In all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry."
It is a divine lesson to know how to be full, for the Israelites were full once, but while the flesh [food] was yet [still] in their mouth, the wrath [anger] of God came upon them. Many have asked for mercies that they might satisfy their own hearts' lust [strongest. Fullness of bread has often made fullness of blood and that has brought on wantonness [ungodliness] of spirit. When we have much of God's providential mercies [blessings], it often happens that we have but little [don’t have much] of God's grace, and little gratitude for the bounties [abundance] we have received. We are full and we forget God:
satisfied with earth, we are content to do without heaven.
Rest assured it is harder to know how to be full than it is to know how to be hungry—so desperate is the tendency of human nature to [embrace] pride and forgetfulness of God. Take care that you ask in your prayers that God would teach you [us]
"how to be full."
Let not the gifts Thy love bestows [Lord, don’t let the gifts your love gives us]
Estrange our hearts from Thee [Make us strangers to you].
EVENING February 10
"I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto Me; for I have redeemed thee." —Isaiah 44:22
─Yo deshice como á nube tus rebeliones, y como á niebla tus pecados: tórnate á mí, porque yo te redimí.— Isaías 44:22
ATTENTIVELY observe the instructive similitude [a simile includes the word “like” or “as”]: our sins are like a cloud. As clouds are of many shapes and shades, so are our transgressions. As clouds obscure the light of the sun, and darken the landscape beneath, so do our sins hide from us the light of Jehovah's face, and cause us to sit in the shadow of death.
They are earth-born things, and rise from the miry places of our nature; and when collected so that their measure is full, they threaten us with storm and tempest. Alas! [Oh, woe] Unlike clouds, our sins yield us no genial showers, but rather threaten to deluge us with a fiery flood of destruction. 0h, black clouds of sin, how can it be fair weather with our souls while you remain?
Let our joyful eye dwell upon the notable act of divine mercy—"blotting out." God Himself appears upon the scene, and in divine serenity [peace], instead of manifesting His anger, reveals His grace: He at once and forever effectually removes the mischief, not by blowing away the cloud, but by blotting it out from existence once for all.
No sin remains against the justified man; the great transaction of the cross has eternally removed His transgressions from him. On Calvary's summit the great deed, by which the sin of all the chosen was for ever put away, was completely and effectually performed.
Practically [being practical] let us obey the gracious command,
"return unto me."
Why should pardoned sinners live at a distance from their God? If we have been forgiven all our sins, let no legal fear withhold us from the boldest access to our Lord. Let us bemoan backslidings, but not persevere [insist or remain] in them.
To the greatest possible nearness of communion with the Lord, let us, in the power of the Holy Spirit, strive mightily to return. 0h Lord, this night, restore us!
A SINNER’S PRAYER: … FOR WHOSOEVER: [One and all]
Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved … pray like this, won’t you?
“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am hopeless. I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross for my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned to Hell. I have been self-centered from birth. Please forgive me.
I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m guilty and sorry for each and every sin I have done and look to You to forgive me of them all.
I look to You, alone Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You, Lord Jesus, right now to save me. You died on the cross for me, because of my sin and You say, “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21.
Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me, I trust You, to be my Lord and Savior from now on.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins. I ask You to abide in me and give me the desire to always follow You.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross. Even the sins of the whole world.
Thank you, Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me even before I was born and that You still love me now. I love You too.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You have called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [Holy Ghost, The Comforter, The Spirit of Truth]
Thank You for saving me heavenly Father. With all my heart, thank you Father for saving me in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Allow us to share the joy of your new birth with heaven. Won’t you? Heaven rejoices over each redeemed sinner. Luke 15:7

He created an excellent legacy of gospel preaching and exposition and is known as the “Prince of Preachers”. Spurgeon has been and is today widely read with great benefit from the 1800’s to this present time. He is the beloved founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England (Still thriving TODAY through the faithful preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.) Prayer: Lord Jesus, please bless Your disciples toward the winning of many souls, and help us to be loving and compassionate toward all who are in need, especially those in the household of faith. I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and for His sake, Amen.
Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not praise or exalt Charles H. Spurgeon beyond the honor due him. He didn’t need or want it when he was on earth and would have no need or desire for it now. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM and Him crucified.
Precaution: These Messages and prayers alone will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus. Neither do they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word. (The King James version (KJV), known also as the Authorized Version (AV), is the preferred English Bible because its accuracy and fidelity to the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text) avoid doctrinal and editorial weaknesses found in many contemporary editions.
Prayer Selection by Spurgeon must not be offered as a substitute for personal, intimate fervent, heart-felt, prayer. It is intended rather, to warm the hearts of those who are in prayer seeking a season of authentic two-way, heart-to-heart fellowship and prayer with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit. Read from the NT Book of Romans Chapter 8.

https://www.febc.edu.sg/v15/article/def_the_inside_story_of_westcott_and_hort
In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:
* Letters from close relatives are quoted in the Inside Story above
The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,
thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on a defective text. Those who want to honor the Word of God must not promote the use of any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is evil in itself, but because the attitude of being contented to use a blemished version rather than an existing unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has taken the trouble to preserve for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it would be to Him if His people now chose instead to change over to a version that is based on a defective text.
Let the biblical story of Nadab and Abihu be a lesson to all:
And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp. So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said. And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled” (Lev 10:1–6).
