DEVOTION   for April 29th   *A.D. 2025 Written and calendared for this exact date by Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892

Easter [Resurrection Sunday] IS NEVER OVER.

Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me, shall never die. Believest  thou this?”

2 Timothy 2:8-26

8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:

9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:

12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;

18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor.

21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet [the perfect match] for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strife.

24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

DAILY SPURGEON  and DEVOTION for April 29th ,  A.D.  2025

A.D. did not and does NOT mean “After Death” as many erroneously now think. It actually abbreviates  Anno Domini,  a  Latin phrase adopted into English that literally means  “Year of our Lord”.  It has been used together with B.C. Before Christ   for centuries.

B.C.E  is not a synonym for B.C. (Before Christ)]  It is not the same thing. Not even close.

B.C.E. / C.E  or   B.C. /A.D.  What’s the difference?

B.C.E. (BEFORE COMMON ERA [or  BEFORE CURRENT ERA] ― Anything to avoid all reference or mention of anything CHRISTIAN by atheist and anti-Christians and to remove A.D. [Anno Domini] and  B.C. [Before Christ] from being used.

The argument here, claims to have a neutral point of view that would remove all reference to Jesus Christ by omitting the use of A.D Ano Domini and B.C. Before ChristThis argument brings forward a faulty if not egregious hypothesis.  Without consideration of a person’s religious views analysis of the hypothesis of a neutral point of view (NPOV) must be made.

What is A NEUTRAL point of view?  Such a fool’s errand would argue that a point of view could set forth a valid, genuine, authentic and simultaneously  be neutral. What?  This defies logic. A neutral point of view, were it possible, is no point of view at all. Rather, it’s  illogical and by applying simple common sense, impossible.  Anytime a point of view is combined, confused or blended with another one so that the properties are clouded, weakened or confused the actual definite and certain POV is lost and any rational adherence or support for it is now moot.   A Neutral point of view exists only in  the imagination of those who prefer confusion to a true, authentic, genuine, robust and proven point of a verifiable fact.

A neutral point of view, were it possible, would be, at best,  illogical, unattainable,  indefensible and irresponsible. The king of oxymorons.

Therefore, the mere consideration of an imagined but impossible and unattainable neutral point of view (NPOV) is ludicrous.  A point of view cannot be NEUTRAL. An authentic point of view cannot be neutral, or ambiguous, but must clearly advance a singular, definite and certain  point of view (POV).  It cannot be both a  POV and neutral.   A neutral point of view is a logical impossibility.  A neutral (POV), were it possible, would ignore the historical fact of Jesus Christ’s birth. The pretense of seeking a neutral point of view  is therefore misleading and  disingenuous.

The Lord Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh,
was born of a virgin  2025 years ago.
He’s  alive  today, has always existed as God’s eternal and everlasting Word,
and will soon return for his bride, the Church
[The body of all redeemed believers in Jesus Christ].

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,
believed on in the world, received up into glory.

1 Timothy  3:16

Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: for I am God and there is none else.

Isaiah 45:22

You are invited to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior and Lord and to follow Him in believer’s baptism.

Jesus came from Galilee  to Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist. But, John forbad [refused] Him and said, “I have need to be baptized of You and [yet] you are coming to me?” [for baptism]  And Jesus answering him said, “Suffer it to be so [Do it] now: for thus it becometh us [is beautifully fitting and expected of us] to fulfil all righteousness.”

Baptism is not a requirement for salvation but it is the willing desire of all believers to demonstrate agreement and consistency with  the righteousness of preaching Repentance and Baptism by John the Baptist and obedience to the scriptural teaching.  The issue of baptism is therefore not an issue of salvation but of obedience and of fulfilling all righteousness.

Worshiping Him in Spirit and in truth will spring-up and be manifested in a sense of gratitude.  Such worship can come through prayer, Bible reading, scriptural meditation and study. Fellowship in a local church body, hearing gospel preaching and singing of sacred hymns and spiritual songs are also acts of worship and reflects an active discipleship.

To this purpose, DailySpurgeon,  is offered as a reliable, dependable and effective resource.

It is not intended, were it possible to take the place of fellowship or congregational worship in a local body of believers.

“Study to show yourself  approved unto God, a worker that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing [accurately comprehending and sharing] the word of truth.”   2 Timothy 2:15

Trusting in and following the Lord Jesus Christ is our chief purpose. We trust Him for salvation, guidance, strength and our eternal destiny according to His perfect will.  We follow Him in soul winning through DailySpurgeon  or any other instrumentality He may choose.   We invite and encourage non-believers to turn away from sin, look to Him and be saved.  We trust that believers (old and new) will benefit from its use knowing that He will sustain, guide and build us up as we are conformed to His image by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Strategy of Resurrection   John Ch. 20    with Dr. Peter Masters, Pastor

It is clear the resurrection was completely unexpected by the disciples. Here is how it came, first by gentle intimation, then with a caution, then as a proof of Christ's successful atonement, and then as a command to trust in the living Lord.

PRAYER 17, Part 5 of 8

TO BE LIKE CHRIST.

Alas! [More’s the pity] we are even sometimes subject to unbelief. If trials come which we expected not, or if the body grows faint, how liable we are to begin to doubt the faithful promise, and so to grieve the Holy Spirit. Lord, we cannot bear this; we cannot bear this; it is not enough for us that our garments are clean, and that we walk uprightly before men; we long to walk before Thee in such a way that there will be nothing to grieve Thy Spirit, nothing to vex [anger] the tender love of our Beloved. O, come, Divine Spirit, and exercise Thy cleansing power upon it according to Thy promise, “I will cleanse Thy blood which I have not cleansed, saith [says] the Lord, that dwelleth [dwells] in Zion.”

O that everything might help us towards purity, for we crave after it; we mind [attend to] the things of the Spirit, and there is groaning within us to be utterly delivered from the things of the flesh, that we may in spirit, soul, and body, be a cleansed temple, fit for the indwelling of the Holy One of Israel. Lord, help us, we pray Thee, in our daily life, to be as Christ was.

If we are men of sorrows, may there be that luster about our sorrow which there was about His in patience and holy submission to the Divine law.

If we are men of activity may our activity be like His, for he

“went about doing good.”

May we seek in all ways the good of our fellow-men and the glory of our God. We wish that the zeal of Thine house would eat us up [consume us] ; that we should be full of sacred warmth; that our lips were [would be] touched with the live coal so that there be fire in us perpetually flaming and burning, and ourselves a living sacrifice unto God.

[We ask this In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 272: The Honey of Christian Experience.

There were no plates and dishes out there in that Timnath vineyard, and so his own hands were the only salvers [plates] upon which Samson (backstory and Sampson’s legacy) could present the delicacy, “he took thereof in his hands, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat.”

Perhaps you think,

“If I am to speak to any person upon true religion, I should like to do it in poetry.”

Better do it in prose [plain writing] , for perhaps they will take more notice of your verse than of your subject. Give them the honey in your hands, and if there is no dish they cannot take notice of the dish.

“Ay, but I should like to do it very properly,” says one; “it is a very important matter, I should like to speak most correctly.”

But my judgment is, that, as you will not be likely to attain to correct speech all in a hurry, and your friends may die while you are learning your grammar and your rhetoric [style of argument]

you had better tell them of Jesus according to your present ability.

Tell them there is life in a look at Jesus. Tell them the story simply, as one child talks to another. Carry the honey in your hands, though it drip all round [everywhere] ; no hurt will come of the spilling, there are always little ones waiting for such drops. If you were to make the gospel drip about everywhere, and sweeten all things, it would be no waste, but

a blessed gain to all around [everywhere].

Therefore, I say to you,

tell of Jesus Christ as best you can, and never cease to do so while life lasts.

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK APRIL 29 FORGET AND FORGIVE C.H. Spurgeon

-Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the Lord, and he shall save- Proverbs 20:22    -No digas, yo me vengaré; Espera a Jehova, y el te salvará- Proverbios 20:22

Be not in haste [Don’t be in a hurry]. Let anger cool down. Say nothing and do nothing to avenge yourself. You will be sure to act unwisely if you take up the cudgels [clubs] and fight your own battles; and, certainly, you will not show the spirit of the Lord Jesus.

It is nobler to forgive, and let the offense pass. To let an injury rankle in your bosom, and to meditate revenge, is to keep old wounds open, and to make new ones. Better forget and forgive. Peradventure, you say that you must do something or be a great loser; then do what this morning’s promise advises:

-Wait on the Lord, and he shall save thee.-

This advice will not cost you money, but is worth far more. Be calm and quiet. Wait upon the Lord: tell Him your grievance: spread Rabshakeh’s letter

before the Lord, and this of itself will be an ease to your burdened mind. Besides, there is the promise,

-He shall save thee.- God will find a way of deliverance for you.

How He will do it neither you nor I can guess, but do it He will. If the Lord save you, this will be a deal [lot] better than getting into petty quarrels, and covering yourself with filth by wrestling with the unclean.

Be no more angry. Leave your suit with the Judge of all.

Prayer: Thank you that you teach us to not say, “I will recompense evil; but to wait on You Lord, and You shall save- Lord Jesus, help me to wait upon You. I believe You died for my sins and that God raised You from the dead. Thank You for saving me. Please help me to be holy. -I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.- Galatians 2:20. In Jesus name, Amen.

Pray also that all pastors, workers and believers everywhere rightly divide God’s everlasting Word, to declare, preach and share the good news that Jesus suffered and died on the cross so that eternal life is given to all who trust in Him. Pray that all redeemed, born-again blood-bought children of God abide faithful to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with every creature.

MORNING April 29

"Thou art [are] my hope in the day of evil. " —Jeremiah 17:17

---Esperanza mía eres tú en el día malo. —Jeremías 17:17

THE path of the Christian is not always bright with sunshine; he has his seasons of darkness and of storm. True, it is written in God's Word, "Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace," and it is a great truth, that religion is calculated to give a man happiness below as well as bliss above; but experience tells us that if the course of the just be "As the shining light that shineth [shines] more and more unto the perfect day," then sometimes that light is eclipsed.

At certain periods clouds cover the believer's sun, and he walks in darkness and sees no light. There are many who have rejoiced in the presence of God for a season; they have basked in the sunshine in the earlier stages of their Christian career; they have walked along the "green pastures" by the side of the "still waters," but suddenly they find the glorious sky is clouded.

Instead of the Land of Goshen, they have to tread the sandy desert; in the place of sweet waters, they find troubled streams, bitter to the taste, and they say, "Surely, if I were a child of God, this would not happen." Oh! say not this [don’t say this] , you who are walking in darkness. The best of God's saints must drink the wormwood [bitterness]; the dearest of His children must bear the cross.

No Christian has enjoyed perpetual prosperity; no believer can always keep his harp [happiness] from [hanging on] the willows [trees].

Perhaps the Lord allotted you at first a smooth and unclouded path because you were weak and timid. He tempered the wind to the shorn lamb, but now that you are stronger in the spiritual life, you must enter the riper and rougher experience of God's full-grown children. We need winds and tempests to exercise our faith, to tear off the rotten bough of self-dependence, and to root us more firmly in Christ.

The day of evil reveals to us the value of our glorious hope.

EVENING April 29

"The Lord taketh pleasure in His people. " —Psalm 149:4

---Jehová toma contentamiento con su pueblo—Salmos 149:4

HOW comprehensive is the love of Jesus! There is no part of His people's interests that He does not consider, and there is nothing that concerns their welfare that is not important to Him. Not merely does He think of you, believer, as an immortal being, but as a mortal being too. Do not deny it or doubt it:

"The very hairs of your head are all numbered." "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he [the good man] delighteth in His way."

It would be a sad thing for us if this mantle of love did not cover all our concerns, for what mischief might be done to us in that part of our business that did not come under our gracious Lord's inspection! Believer, rest assured that the heart of Jesus cares about your common affairs [daily routine]. The breadth of His tender love is such that you may resort to Him in all matters; for all your afflictions He is afflicted, and

like as a father pities his children, so does He pity you.

The meanest [most insignificant] interests of all His saints are all borne [carried] on the broad bosom [chest] of the Son of God. Oh, what a heart is His, that does not merely comprehend [know] the persons of His people, but comprehends also the diverse and innumerable concerns of all those persons!

Do you think, 0 Christian, that you can measure the love of Christ? Think of what His love has brought you—justification, adoption, sanctification, eternal life!

The riches of His goodness are un-searchable [beyond comprehension]; you will never be able to tell them out [stop talking about them] or even conceive them. Oh, the breadth of the love of Christ! Shall such a love as this have half our hearts? Shall it have a cold love in return? Shall Jesus' marvelous loving-kindness and tender care meet with but faint response and tardy acknowledgment?

0 my soul, tune your harp to a glad song of thanksgiving! Go to your rest rejoicing, for

you are no desolate wanderer, but

a beloved child, watched over, cared for, supplied, and defended by the Lord.

Sing “Amen” with Harry Belafonte, Won’t you?

Praise Him, Praise  and  Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord  Two of the thousands of Hymns  written by Fanny Crosby

The Fanny Crosby Story (45 minute video of most prolific Hymn writer of all time)

A SINNER’S PRAYER:
A person may come to Jesus by  believing in Him and (earnestly)
praying like this:

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and hopeless without You.  I will never be able to save myself by my own merits. Without you and your death on the cross I would deserve and spend forever in Hell.

I know that me doing my best or being good (in my own opinion)  and justifying my own behavior as "good"  or "OK" will never  save me.
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me.
I come to You   right now.  Lord Jesus.   Please save me.  I believe You died on the cross in my place to pay for my sin debt and put to death my sin nature. I know  You always keep your word.  Please save me. You say and  it’s written in the Bible that you won’t reject anyone who comes to You. I'm coming  to You now. Thank You for saving me.

I  give myself (all of myself) to You, Lord Jesus. I declare that You are my Savior and Lord. I’m sorry for and I turn away from  every sin (every bad thought, every bad word I have spoken and every bad thing I have ever done)  and look to You free me from the penalty of sin, to keep me free from the power of sin and empower me overcome any temptation from sin’s  presence.  Thank you for forgiving  all of  my sins by dying on the cross to pay the punishment that I deserve.  (I was a sinner by nature and by behavior). But now I'm washed clean by Your blood that was shed [poured out] for me at Calvary [at the cross].

Thank you Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was born and that You love me now and will always love me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father other than by You.

Thank you Father that You have made a way for me to see myself as ungodly.  But,  because You are good You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in the Lord Jesus.  You have forgiven me because He took my place and You have provided for  me to be born again [born from above, born of the Holy Spirit].
You prompted this desire and faith to believe in Your only begotten Son who, gave up  His life and died on the cross to pay my sin debt, not mine alone, but the sins of the whole world.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus there is no condemnation. After You raised Him from the dead You gave Him a Glorified, [everlasting] physical body and  after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with  You  in heaven.

I pray this in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus
Christ with a grateful heart.   Thank You for saving me heavenly Father and for sending the Comforter, The Spirit of Truth, for my
guidance and solemn instruction into all truth.,  Amen.”

Thank You Holy Spirit of Truth, The Comforter, The Paraclete [true friend who is by
your side and always has your back]  for the new life in Jesus and the  victory that comes when I recon myself dead indeed unto sin and alive unto God through Christ Jesus our
Lord trusting You, Holy Spirit for Your  empowerment  to see  this promise fulfilled.
Romans 6:11

Thank you that you, Holy Spirit,  always exalt [lift up] the Lord Jesus.  John 16:8-11

With all my heart, I thank you Lord Jesus for saving me and
I now pray that You live Your life, Lord Jesus through me. In Your name, Jesus, Amen.

Please allow us to celebrate with you and with the angels in heaven at the news of your new birth.   Please write to:

Mission and Invitation

The aim of this work is to save souls, strengthen and encourage believers in the Word, proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ as we serve those in need. We believe the Bible is God’s revealed Word and that through His Word He guides us as individuals and as a local body of believers. We are resolved, God helping us, to study, meditate and pray to rightly divide God’s revealed Word holding it as the final authority in all things.

The purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to make known the Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ to every creature. We aim to love the brethren, win souls, and  build-up of the Body of Christ, [The Universal Church of true believers].  We purpose to publish the Good News of Jesus Christ and to proclaim (preach) HIM everywhere.  We purpose also to serve everyone, especially those in the household of faith..
We believe the Bible is God’s everlasting, inspired (God breathed) Word.  By His Word He guides us individually and corporately through His local Church.
God’s Word [The Bible] is the driving essence of all our work. To this end we annotate and reprint, unabridged, the sermons and publications from The Holy Bible that were preached and taught through the inspired servant Charles Haddad Spurgeon.

The published Headings and Titles selected for inclusion in  Daily Spurgeon are:
Prayers
Anecdotes
Faith’s Checkbook
Morning & Evening

This body of inspired work was created by Spurgeon 1834-1892 and has been widely published and preached to this present time.  He was Pastor and founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle  in London, England (Still flourishing TODAY) Still preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  [Click this blue link to hear live, contemporary and traditional preaching brought by the Internet from broadcasts from Dr. Peter Masters, the current Metropolitan Tabernacle minister for over 30 years].

Prayer: Dear Lord, May this endeavor  be effective and thrive in winning souls,
and may we also be loving and compassionate as we  encourage and comfort  all who
are needy, especially to those who are in the household of faith, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
Disclaimer: These mailing are not intended to attract praise for or exalt  the Lord’s servant, and founding minister of the Metropolitan Tabernacle Charles H. Spurgeon. He didn’t need it and wouldn’t have wanted it.  Rather, it is offered as an encouragement, for seekers and believers who read, meditate on, pray-over and desire to obey through the power of The Holy Spirit, God’s inspired [God breathed] inerrant, revealed, immutable Word, the Bible.
Precaution: These devotional messages and prayers are not offered or intended to substitute for walking in the bright sunlight of continual companionship [communion, fellowship] in love with the Lord Jesus Christ [The Messiah]. Neither should they be substituted for reading, meditating on, praying and fasting over God's Word; (KJV, Authorized Version is  recommended) that reveals His unspeakable Love to all the world.   John 3:16
Printed Prayer:  Should not be read or offered as a substitute for personal, fervent, effectual, heart-felt, prayer. It  is intended rather, to touch and warm the hearts of those who presently seek a season of fervent, authentic two-way, heart-to-heart  fellowship and prayer  with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit.

* Not only were new converts won to the truth in Caesar's household, but after their conversion they remained in that household. They did not feel at liberty to abandon their post of duty because their surroundings were no longer congenial. [They were now out of their comfort zone but obliged to steadfastly remain and serve there] The truth had found them there, and there they remained, by their changed life and character testifying to the transforming power of their new found faith in Jesus Christ.  Thank you for your prayers.

Let us make daily use of our riches, and ever repair [return] to Him as to our own Lord in covenant, taking from Him the supply of all we need with as much boldness as men take money from their own purse [wallet].

1 John  Chapter 4

Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everything you hear] but [continually] be testing the spirit whether it is of God: because many false prophets have come out in the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesseth [confesses, says] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come out of God, is of God: and every spirit [voice] that confesseth not [doesn't confess] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Hence, I confess [declare and affirm] "Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh."

C.H. Spurgeon The Peoples Preacher  ( 70 min.)  Historically accurate Feature Film of the one called The Prince of Preachers

2,018,939 views May 14, 2020       ―a video into the life and ministry of Charles Haddon Spurgeon, widely known first as the “people’s preacher” who was later known as “The Prince of Preachers”.

It follows his trials and triumphs with historical accuracy pointing always to Jesus Christ and proclaiming, “Behold the Lamb of God which taketh [takes] away the sin of the world.”

Here is an intimate account of one of the greatest preachers in the history of the church. We follow him from his youth where, as a young preacher he is called Charlie, boy preacher of the Finns. to become the minister to London’s largest Baptist congregation and soon captures the love and respect of Great Britan to become one of its most influential figures.

Made by the award-winning Christian Television Association and filmed on location in England, Scotland, France and Germany, this film vividly captures the spirit and message of a man whose eventful life is highly relevant to the twenty-first century.

Thank You  LORD for dailyspurgeon.com  that proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ [The Messiah], and  the great commission for believers to go into  all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

This ministry was begun with the sending of  e-mails of  Spurgeon’s  Faith’s Checkbook,  to Jon Edward Riley (1971- 2021). A mailing list was started and grew rapidly with the addition of many who learned of this publication and wanted it sent to them directly. This mailing list  continues to be used to distribute dailyspurgeon.com   and we trust that it will continue to encourage whole-hearted devotional vigor of Love, and oneness with Jesus Christ through the study and obedience of GOD’S WORD.

All content is selected for this ministry has been  written and calendared by Charles Spurgeon. We pray that many will be born-again  and built-up in the Faith of Jesus Christ, by God’s grace and with His help, sustain this ministry that was begun with my beloved son, Jon Edward Riley (1971-2021)  honored here as one to whom honor is due.

Jon would  often  testify...

“I’m a blood-bought, born-again child of God.”

We say, Amen.

Is dailyspurgeon.com   or any other spoken or written communication to be trusted?

Is it true?     Is it of God?

Apply this Scripture to discern if it is of God and true, or not.

1 John 4:1-3  Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [voice] you hear but be testing the spirits [voices] whether they are of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit [voice]  of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come from God, is of God:  and every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit [voice] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Therefore, we should [must] test every voice [spirit] whether it is from God, bonified and trustworthy to be believed only if it  confesses [says]  that…

“Jesus Christ is here, from God, in the flesh having come from God .”

[All English translations of the Bible other than King James have  erroneously translated from two alternate Greek texts created by Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Alland as “Has come” rather than“Is come” [Is Here] which is the correct translation following the Greek Majority Text and the Textus Receptus].  The majority of manuscripts MT of the 5,321 individual Greek manuscripts that are preserved, protected, inerrant, infallible and immutable manuscripts and are in overwhelming agreement with one another and are the source from which the Textus Receptus is taken

All Modern Critical  translations overlook the original Greek verb “ictin” [To be] [is] (third person singular) that is in virtually all Majority Texts MT and  subsequently in the Textus Receptus [Received Text] therefore they fail to correctly translate  the Greek verb  as, “Is come” [Is here].  (as does the KJV)

This  error occurs  because the  modern critical Greek text, created by Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Alland DO NOT follow the  MT [Majority Texts] of 5,321 Greek manuscripts that  affirm agreement   with one another.   The TR  [Textus Receptus] is rendered from this overwhelming body of primary sources   . Both Westcott & Hort and Nestles & Alland have omitted the verb “is”, from the Greek text. This error may be described as  res ipsa loquitur [a legal term meaning the thing speaks for itself].

Therefore, the alternate translations generated from these two alternate Greek fabrications are not correct. Why is that?

Because non-believers and false prophets can indeed, and often do, affirm that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. Practically anyone can  make this confession as the  birth of Jesus Christ is considered by virtually all respected historians to be the most well documented fact in history. That He has come is generally acknowledged by nonbelievers and believers alike.   However, here’s the point. There is a huge difference between “Has come” and “Is Here”. “Has come” falls woefully short of the essential and clear meaning of the confession “Is Here”. Just because something “has come” it can not be assumed, inferred or deduced that it also “is here”.

The “has come” assertion is not surprising nor is it, per se, a false statement. Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. However, this  fails to present a  Rubric necessary to discern whether the sprit [voice] being tested [tried] is from God or from false prophets in the spirit of antichrist.

Again, the expression “has come” rather than  “is come” [is here]  is not, per se a false statement.

However, it fails to deliver a valid hypothesis, proffered and inferred in the contextfor scriptural discernment. The failure here  to establish a logical and rhetorically sound rubric to judge  the question of whether spirits [words] are from God or from false prophets and the spirit of antichrist is absent.

Namely, it does not provide a sound hypothesis to discern whether a spirit [spoken or written words]  are from God or the spirit of Antichrist.

Virtually anyone [or any spirit] may avow that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. But as you can see, this does not resolve the issue of whether something should or should not be believed or followed. Why?  Once again,  because virtually anyone and everyone can and often do confess that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh. This leaves absent a valid and efficacious hypothesis to discern the truth.

Again, while it is  true that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh, this alone is inadequate to discern truth from error. “Has come” does not mean the same thing as “is come [is here],  from God, in the flesh” and therefore  is a failed attempt to represent itself as efficacious for true spiritual discernment as outlined in 1 John Chapter 4: 1-3.

Further, as we  compare  Scripture with  scripture in 1 John 4:1-3 and  Ephesians 5:30-32

we comprehend God’s message regarding  Jesus Christ  being in the Flesh vis-à-vis His Church Body

Compare  1 John 4:1-3   with Ephesians 5:30-32

1 John 4:1-3
Authorized (King James) Version

4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Ephesians 5:30-32
Authorized (King James) Version

30 for we are members of his [Jesus Christ’s]  body,  of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery:

but I speak concerning  Christ and the church.

[So, we are members of His body, flesh and bone, [we are] one flesh with Him,  The Body of Christ is (In the flesh); and is the incarnate Body of believers].

He was born of a virgin 2024 years ago.  He lives today,

and He’s coming soon,  for His bride; the Church [Blood-bought, Born-again members of His body].

When a believer considers the fact that they are a member of the body of Christ [The Church] , they should acknowledge and readily confess that…

“Jesus Christ is here, from God,  in the flesh,” because  We are the Body of Christ; The Church, in the flesh!  Amen.

As Jon remembered veterans, we remember him: Jon Edward Riley (1971-2021) who would, on occasion, just bust-out singing the following songs; sometimes, on the way to church sometimes just singing along with the Elvis Gospel CD that was always kept in the truck’s CD player or,

even better, a song the Lord would spontaneously put in his joyful and loving heart.

I LOVE You Lord by Jared Reynolds

How Great Thou Art with Elvis

Lead Me & Rock-a My Soul by Elvis and friends

…Jon always said “Later”; as in [see’ya later] instead of “good bye”. It was his unique way to bid farewell … He would never say “good-bye”. Now,  remembering the sound of his voice saying “Later”, it rings true with a  new and deeper meaning and it brings a joyfulness and comfort to the hearts of those he loved so well; those who love him still, and always will.

… we are reminded of the promise of the Hymn:

’Till We Meet Again. Amen.

Long before the Conservative Resurgence, Dr. R.G. Lee was the Southern Baptist champion of biblical infallibility and inerrancy. In his sermon, “The Word of God – Not Broken and Not Bound,” published in 1930, in which Dr. Lee stated the following regarding the HOLY BIBLE: (KJV)

“All [Prophets and Apostles] who wrote are immortalized by their writing of this great Book, supernatural in origin, divine in authorship, human in penmanship, infallible in authority, infinite in scope, universal in interest, personal in application, regenerative in power, inspired [God breathed] in totality.”

Dr. R.G. Lee preached a sermon called Payday Someday over 1,200 times.

Why was it so powerful? Why was it requested and preached so many times?

SACRED LITERATURE:

THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS   by  John Bunyan  is the most famous Allegory, world-wide and the Most widely Published Book of all time and was printed in over 200 Languages. It has NEVER,  since 1698, been  out-of-print.

Only The King James Bible was more widely published than The Pilgrim’s Progress.

ONLINE PRINT LIBRARY: (No Enrollment Fee or Registration required)

BUNYAN’S  ORIGINAL of 1678: The Pilgrim’s Progress  Published in 1853  by Logos

REVISED VERSION:              The Pilgrim’s Progrefs  [sic] 1999 by Barry E. Horner

OLD ENGLISH  PRINT: The Pilgrim’s Progress  Part II   AKA  Christiana
(Christian’s wife, Christiana and children; their dangerous journey, and safe arrival at the desired country.)

Pilgrim Progress is the world’s most famous Allegory, It and the Bible were commonly the only books to be found in the cabin of early American Settlers and were  loved and  read more than any book, second only to the Holy Bible.  It’s  also considered, by some, as being the world’s first English novel. It’s likely the most published book other than the Bible of all time. There were 1,300 editions printed before 1938,  250 years after the Bunyan’s death. Hence, the world’s most famous Allegory.

Comment on Pilgrim’s Progress by Charles H. Spurgeon from the Spurgeon Sermon
“Christ in You”.

Spurgeon:  Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me of Mr. Bunyan’s picture of [the town of] Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [happy melodies] , for the king himself was come. Up to the castle of the heart [main castle]  he rode in triumph, and took his royal throne to be henceforth the sole lord and king of the city.

Christ in you is a right royal word. Christ swaying his scepter from the center of your being over every power and faculty, desire and resolve, bringing every thought into captivity to himself, Oh, this is glory begun, and the sure pledge of heaven. Oh, for more of the imperial sovereignty of Jesus, The Messiah;  our liberty to be absolutely under his sway.

Spurgeon Sermon: Christ in You, Preached May 13, 1883 Scripture: Colossians 1:27  From: Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit, Volume 29   (cit. II. THE SWEETNESS OF THIS MYSTERY, WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU, § 5)

You may choose to read, listen or share Pilgrim’s Progress with your little ones as a bed time story.   It will bless, strengthen, encourage and instruct pilgrims of all ages and will create precious and enduring memories in little ears.

Spurgeon read it for the first time as a precocious five year old reader and would returned to read it over 100 times during the course of his remarkable ministry as a Baptist pastor who is  known as The Prince of Preachers .

A SINNER'S PRAYER

________________________________________

BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL!    Gaither Congregation (Sing with us, won’t you?)

https://youtu.be/d3pQOmFts0E

PRAYER 17, Part 3 of 8  TO BE LIKE CHRIST.

And, Lord, hear us who are Thy children, in whom the [Holy] Spirit beareth [bears] witness [is in agreement] with our spirit, that we are the children of God. Hear us while we bring before Thee our daily struggles. Blessed be Thy name; there are some sins which Thou hast helped us to overcome, and now they are trodden beneath our feet with many a tear that we ever should have been in bondage to them.

And Oh, there are rebellions within our nature still. We think that we are getting holy, and behold we discover that we are under the power of pride, that we are self-conceited about ourselves. Lord help us to master pride. And then when we try to be humble before Thee [in Your presence] we find ourselves falling into inaction and supineness [lying down]. Lord, slay sloth [kill laziness] within us, and

never let us find a [soft]  pillow in the doctrines of grace for ease while yet a single sin remains.

Besides, great God, the raging lusts of the flesh will sometimes pounce upon us like wild beasts. Help us to be very watchful lest by any means we be torn and rent [ripped to shreds] by them. O keep us, we beseech, [earnestly ask] Thee Lord, for

without Thy keeping [us] we cannot keep ourselves. !

[We ask this In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 266: “Whosoever Will.”

“Ah!” saith [says] one, “God knows I am willing, but still I do not think I am worthy.” No,
I know you are not, but what is that to do with it ? It is not “whosoever is worthy” but

“whosoever will, let him come.”

“Well,” says one, “I believe that whosoever will, may come, but not me, for I am the vilest sinner out of hell.” But hark thee, [you pay attention!] sinner, it says,

“whosoever.”

What a big word that is! Whosoever! There is no standard-height here. It is of any height and any size. Little sinners, big sinners, black sinners, fair sinners, sinners doubled-dyed [dyed-in-the-wool], old sinners, aggravated sinners, sinners who have committed every crime in the whole catalogue, whosoever.

Doth [Does] this exempt [even] one? Who can be excluded from this whosoever? It mattereth not [doesn’t matter] who thou mayest [may] be, nor what thou mayest have been [you may have been] , if thou art [are] willing to be saved; free as the air thou breathest [you breathe] is the love and grace of God.

“Whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK APRIL 29 IT BECOMES MUTUAL C.H. Spurgeon 1834 - 1892

-I will dwell in them, and walk in them; [Ye are the temple of the living God] and I will be their God, and they shall be my people  -2 Corinthians 6:16-

-Habitaré y andaré en ellos; y seré el Dios de ellos, y ellos serán mi pueblo- 2 Corintios 6:16 (RVG)

Here is a mutual interest [fact]. Each belongs to each. God is the portion [property] of His people, and the chosen people are the portion [property] of their God. The saints find in God their chief possession, and He reckons them to be His peculiar treasure.

What a mine [treasure] of comfort lies in this fact for each believer! This happy condition of mutual interest leads to mutual consideration. God will always think of His own people, and they will always think of Him. This day my God will perform all things for me; what can I do for Him? My thoughts ought to run toward Him, for He thinketh upon [about] me. Let me make sure that it is so, and not be content with merely admitting that it ought to be so. This, again, leads to mutual fellowship. God dwells in us, and we dwell in Him; He walks with us and we walk with God.

Happy communion [loving fellowship] this! Oh, for grace to treat the Lord as my God: to trust Him and to serve Him, as His [Three-in-One] Godhead deserves! Oh, that I could love, worship, adore, and obey Jehovah in spirit and in truth! this is my heart’s desire.

When I shall attain to it, I shall have found my Heaven.

Prayer: Lord God, my Heavenly Father, help me to know and love thee with all my heart, for Jesus’ sake, Amen.

Thank you Lord for Your covenant [divine promise] that -I will dwell in them [The temple of the living God] and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people- Lord Jesus, let me walk confidently in You knowing that Your promises are sure and you cause them to be ours. I believe that You died for my sins and that God raised You from the dead. Thank You for saving me. Help me to be holy. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.- (Galatians 2:20)

I too, share the joy in heaven over one repentant sinner more than over ninety nine just persons which need no repentance. (Luke 15:7) In Jesus name, Amen.

I Pray also that all believers be enabled to faithfully and rightly divide [proclaim, preach and share] God’s everlasting Word, the Bible; divinely inspired words of God written by men of God moved by the Holy Spirit and providentially protected and preserved by God almighty, Himself eternally, for God so loved the world…

I pray too, that all believers faithfully, whole-heartedly and rightly preach, proclaim and share the good news that Jesus suffered and died on the cross and after three days, was raised from the dead by His heavenly father to provide eternal salvation to all that would look to Him in faith. Join me in prayer that all redeemed, blood-bought children of God faithfully minister His Word to every creature.  Amen.

MORNING April 29

"Remember the word unto Thy servant, upon which Thou hast [have] caused me to hope." —Psalm 119:49
--Acuérdate de la palabra dada á tu siervo, En la cual me has hecho esperar. —Salmos 119:49

WHATEVER your special need may be, you may readily find some promise in the Bible suited to it. Are you faint and feeble because your way is rough and you are weary [tired-out]? Here is the promise:

"He giveth [gives] power to the faint [weak ones] ."

When you read such a promise, take it back to the great Promiser, and ask Him to fulfill His own word. Are you seeking after [Jesus] Christ, and thirsting for closer communion with him? This promise shines like a star upon you:

"Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled."

Take that promise to the throne continually; do not plead anything else, but go to God over and over again with this:

"Lord, you have said it; do as You have said."

Are you distressed because of sin, and burdened with the heavy load of your iniquities? Listen to these words

—"I, even I, am He thamore remember your sins."

You have no merit of your own to plead His pardon but plead His written promises and He will perform them. Are you afraid lest you should not be able to hold on to the end, lest, after having thought yourself a child of God, you should prove a castaway ? If that is your state, take this word of grace to the throne and plead it:

"The mountains may depart, and the hills may be removed, but the covenant of My love shall not depart from thee [you]."

If you have lost the sweet sense of the Savior's presence, and are seeking Him with a sorrowful heart, remember the promises:

"Return unto Me, and I will return unto you;" "For a small moment have I forsaken thee, but with great mercies will I gather thee [come get you]."

Feed your faith with God's own word, and whatever your fears or wants [short-comings], repair [go] to the Bank of Faith with your Father's note [God’s cashiers check] in hand, saying,

"Remember the word unto Thy servant, upon which Thou hast [have] caused me to hope."

________________________________________

EVENING April 29

"All the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted." —Ezekiel 3:7
—Toda la casa de Israel son tiesos de frente, y duros de corazón. —Ezequiel 3:7

ARE there no exceptions? No, not one. Even the favored race [of Israel] are thus described. Are the best so bad? Then what must the worst be? Come, my heart, consider how far you have a share in this universal accusation, and while considering, be ready to take shame to yourself wherein you may have been guilty.

The first charge is impudence, or hardness of forehead, a want [lack] of holy shame, an unhallowed [unholy] boldness in evil.

Before my conversion, I could sin and feel no compunction [shame], hear of my guilt and yet remain un-humbled, and even confess my iniquity and manifest no inward humiliation on account of it. For a sinner to go to God's house and pretend to pray to Him and praise Him argues a brashness of the worst kind.

Alas! Since the day of my new birth I have doubted my Lord to His face, murmured [whined and complained] unblushingly in His presence, worshiped before Him in a slovenly [lazy] manner, and sinned without bewailing [being ashamed of] myself concerning it.

If my forehead were not impenetrable, harder than flint, I should have far more holy fear, and a far deeper contrition [sorrow] of spirit.

Woe is me, I am one of the impudent house of Israel. The second charge is hardheartedness, and I must not venture to plead innocent here.

Once I had nothing but a heart of stone, and although through grace I now have a new and fleshy heart, much of my former obduracy [obstinacy] remains.

I am not affected by the death of Jesus as I ought to be; neither am I moved by the ruin of my fellow men, the wickedness of the times, the chastisement of my heavenly father, and my own failures, as I should be.

0 that my heart would melt at the recital of my Savior's sufferings and death. Would to God I were rid of this millstone within me, this hateful body of death.

Blessed be the name of the Lord, the disease is not incurable, the Savior's precious blood is the universal solvent, and me,

even me, it will effectually soften, until my heart melts like wax before the fire.

A SINNER’S PRAYER:   … FOR WHOSOEVER: [For One and all]

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved     … pray like this, won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am hopeless.  I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross for my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned to Hell. I have been  self-centered from birth.  Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m guilty and sorry for each and every sin I have done and look to You to forgive me of them all.
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You,  Lord Jesus, right now to save me.  You died on the cross for me, because of my sin  and You say,  “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21.

Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me,  I trust You, to  be my Lord and Savior from now on.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins.  I ask You to abide in me and give me the desire to always follow You.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross.  Even the sins of the whole world.

Thank you,  Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me even before I was born and that You still love me now. I love You too.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You have called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting  in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. Romans  8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [Holy Ghost, Comforter, Spirit of Truth]

Thank You for saving me heavenly Father. With all my heart, thank you Father for saving me in Jesus’ name,  Amen.

Allow us to share the joy of your new birth with heaven. Won’t you? Heaven rejoices over each redeemed sinner. Luke 15:7

These titles are selected from the inspired body of work created from the preaching and writing of Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892. He created an excellent  legacy of gospel preaching and exposition and is known as the “Prince of Preachers”.  Spurgeon has been and is today widely read with great benefit from the 1800’s to this present time. He is the beloved founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England (Still thriving TODAY through the faithful preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.)  [Click to live-stream current gospel preaching in real time each Sunday from London by Dr. Peter Masters, Metropolitan Tabernacle pastor since 1970.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, please bless Your disciples toward the winning of many souls, and help us to be loving and compassionate toward all who are in need, especially those in the household of faith. I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and for His sake, Amen.

Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not praise or exalt  Charles H. Spurgeon beyond the honor due him. He didn’t need or want it when he was on earth and would have no need or desire for it now. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM and Him crucified.

Precaution: These Messages and prayers alone will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus. Neither do they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word. (The King James version (KJV), known also as the Authorized Version (AV), is the preferred English Bible because its accuracy and fidelity to the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text) avoid doctrinal and editorial weaknesses found in many contemporary editions.

Prayer Selection by Spurgeon must not be offered as a substitute for personal, intimate fervent, heart-felt, prayer. It  is intended rather, to warm the hearts of those who are in prayer seeking a season of authentic two-way, heart-to-heart  fellowship and prayer with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit. Read from the NT Book of Romans Chapter 8.

The above link is to search for specific words or Scripture references in the King James Bible  (KJV)  inerrant and infallible  English Bible because it is providentially protected and preserved by GOD Himself through the only translation into English by faithful brethren from the established majority text MT from which the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] manuscripts of the New Testament was taken  and the Hebrew Masoretic Text of the Old Testament (Jewish Tanakh).  These manuscripts are providentially protected, and frequently give greater glory to God when compared to variant readings of all modern translations from Modern Critical Texts based on inferior Greek manuscripts.

The established majority manuscripts avoid doctrinal error, inaccuracies in translation, uninspired editorial notations, variant or ambiguous readings taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus.

In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:

* Letters from close relatives are quoted in the Inside Story above

The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,

thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on a defective text. Those who want to honor the Word of God must not promote the use of any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is evil in itself, but because the attitude of being contented to use a blemished version rather than an existing unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has taken the trouble to preserve for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it would be to Him if His people now chose instead to change over to a version that is based on a defective text.

Let the biblical story of Nadab and Abihu be a lesson to all:

And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp. So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said. And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled” (Lev 10:1–6).

The Geneva Bible was also translated from the Traditional Greek Text, The Textus Receptus [The Received Text] including  comments favorable to the Protestant Reformation  from, devoted,  faithful Christian men of GOD; Puritan Believers whose lives were  beyond reproach.
This Bible was brought to Plymouth Massachusetts  in the American Colonies by the Puritan Pilgrims guided by Captain Christopher Jones’s on the Mayflower sailing ship in 1620. A 1592 Edition of the Geneva Bible that belonging to a Mayflower passenger and the Governor of the Plymouth Colony (Later to become the State of   Massachusetts) by William Bradford and is on display at the Pilgrim Hall Museum in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the oldest continuously operating public museum in the United States.

The traditional Textus Receptus [The Received (Greek) Text] unlike any other Greek Text was taken  from more than 5,321 original Majority (Greek Manuscript) Text [MT] that agree 99% with one another. Other variant readings stem from Greek translations invented by  either Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland.  These fabricated Greek Texts were translated from only a handful [45] of Majority Text Manuscripts MT and  lack the  trustworthiness of  the inspired 1769 [1611] King James Version, KJV or the Geneva Bible and are the only two translations of the traditional, reliable, inspired, [GOD BREATHED] immutable and providentially and divinely protected Textus Receptus [TR]

There is also translational evidence that establishes The Traditional Greek Text as both the OLDEST and the BEST. [The Counterfeit proofs  offered by Critical Test adherents].

The definitive and historical video Bridge to Babylon (URL above) documents the evidence as to  the explosive creation  of over 100 new Critical Text translations of the Bible into English.

Attempts to change the Bible by adding to, or taking away from the 1769 edition of the King James Version [KJV] of the Holy Bible will not  prevail because GOD Himself preserves and protects His inspired [God Breathed, Spoken] , inerrant, [without error] immutable [incapability of changing] and infallible [incapable of having error or failing] God Breathed [Spoken] WORDS. Eternal Protection and Preservation  from all counterfeit and variant readings and heresy, blasphemy, confusion , errors, additions to, or subtractions from the is freely given to WORD of GOD by GOD HIMSELF.

The Traditional Greek Text was first used  in the FIRST Church at Antioch and was later called  The Received Text [Textus Receptus TR].  Over 6 Billion King James Bibles account for more sales world-wide than any other version or edition of the Holy Bible. More than all other Versions and Editions Combined.

Can the Website  DAILYSPURGEON  be trusted? Is it trustworthy?
Is it of God?
YES, it can!    Yes, it is!     Here’s why.

1 John 4:1-3
Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everyone or !everything] you hear but be testing the spirit [voice] whether it is of God: because many false prophets have gone [come] out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses [avows] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come[who came] out of God, is of God: and every spirit that confesses not [doesn’t audibly avow] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Therefore I do confess,  that Jesus Christ is come  [is here]  in the flesh.

[All translations of the Bible that use  Greek translations other than the traditional and faithful Textus Receptus do not contain the Greek word “ictin”.  This word  means “is” in English] and  its exclusion causes the meaning of its English equivalent, “is here” to change from “is” come” [“is”   here] to “has” come.

This mistake is self-evident because non-believers, false prophets, atheists and even  heretics can, and frequently do, affirm that Jesus Christ “has come”   [in the flesh].

While this is a true statement, taken at face value, the  meaning of  “has come” is clearly not the same as “is here”. When “has” come is the meaning   the test God has given in His Word to discern whether words being analyzed are from the Spirit of God or the spirit of antichrist is negated.

One of the most well documented facts in all human history is that Jesus The Christ [The Anointed Messiah]  “has” come in the flesh. However, the essential question  is not whether the spirit [a spoken or written word] confesses that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh but, whether this confession affirms that Jesus Christ, “is come” [is here],  in the flesh.

Please Compare and consider [Meditate upon] this scripture with other related scriptures.  Precept upon precept, Line upon line…
Isaiah 28:10-14

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery: but I [The Apostle Paul]  speak concerning Christ and the church.  [The Church body and Bride of CHRIST]

“I speak concerning Christ and the church.” [the fleshly embodiment, here and now,  of the body of Christ]. Because  followers of Jesus Christ are members of the incarnate Body of Christ [The Church] I freely affirm and avow that Jesus Christ is here

[Not “Has come”] in the flesh.

Which Bible Is The Best?  (57 minutes) David Hocking

David’s Summary  (8 minutes) The problem behind Bible translations is not English.  The issue is what Greek text was being used.   I believe the true Author is The Holy Spirit. I believe this is the Word of God… We need to understand that The word of GOD in and of itself is power. Power to change your life and through the work of the Holy Spirit can produce the New Birth. We are born again of an incorruptible seed of the Word of God which liveth and abideth forever.

Inspired, [God breathed, spoken],

Infallible,[Incapable of failing, making a mistake or being wrong]

Self-Authenticating  [The Bible is considered to be self-authenticating because proponents who believe it to be so know it contains inherent divine qualities—Such qualities are unity, majesty, power, and internal consistency—that reveal its divine origin, that convinces readers of its truth without relying on external historical proof or church testimony.

This concept, championed by the Reformation, know that the Holy Spirit illuminate:
the "heavenliness of its matter," the "efficacy of its doctrine," and the "majesty of its style" within the text itself, allowing God's Word to be received directly, the same way as seeing God's glory in Christ.]

The Authorized King James Version (AKJV)  also known as The King James Version of 1769 (KJV) The Authorized Version (AV) and The Geneva Bible are faithful Translations from the preeminent, [surpassing all others], The Traditional Greek translation of the Textus Receptus [Received Text] TR that is superior to all Critical Text translations from other Greek Sources including (Westcott & Hort, Nestle & Aland,  and Codices Vaticanus, Sinaiticus and Alexandrus).

John 1:1: 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God.
_____________________________________________________

John 1:1-3    1In the beginning was he Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in he beginning with God. 3 all things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.

1 John 4:1-3

(AKJV) The Authorized Version AKJV Translation was faithfully translated by fully consecrated,  and dedicated men of faith, beyond reproach, preeminent linguists, language scholars who were fully devoted followers of  The Lord Jesus Christ.   The 1611 King James translation is from the inerrant, inspired and immutable Textus Receptus [Received Text]:

Psalm 119:89  ל   (Lamed)  For ever, [sic] O  Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.

“Thy Word” is The Inspired and Ultimate Stare Decisis [A Latin phrase used in Legal terminology  that establishes the principle of “Legal Precedence” that means to stand by things decided, and with reference to Holy Scripture, to uphold all things God-Breathed [Inspired] and therefore eternally and immutably decided]

4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth [says] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is of God: 3 and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Therefore, I now confess that “Jesus Christ is here in the flesh.”

[All other English translations of the Bible that use Greek manuscripts other than the Textus Receptus erroneously renders the English translation “Has come”.

This Translation error is because inferior Greek manuscripts do not include the Greek word  “ictin”  (This is The Greek word for is that is found only in the Majority Text of the Textus Receptus) and therefore  the failure  to correctly translate “ictin” [Is Here] into English.

The Authorized King James Version AKJV also known as The Authorized Version AV and the Geneva Bible stand alone in making and giving the correct translation: “is here”.

This  error: “has come” is self-evident, because non-believers, false prophets and even heretics  can, and sometimes will,  make the confession that He “has come” in the flesh. This is no surprise because the birth of Jesus Christ is the most well documented fact in all of recorded history.  Indeed, it is a true and factual statement that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. Yet, while this is, a true and factual statement, the meaning in scripture has now been erroneously changed. The new and erroneous meaning is that now even if He “has come” in the flesh  the confession that JESUS CHRIST IS HERE IN THE FLESH is impossible for THE SPIRIT OF ANTICHRIST who is the creator of all heresies  to confess. Without it, Don’t  believe anything  that is said or written.

NEITHER does it provide for the test for believers to discern whether a spirit [voice or written words being read or heard] are from God or from the Antichrist.  It is  true that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh, but it’s essential that the confession that Jesus Christ,  “IS HERE IN THE FLESH” Be confessed  [be spoken].

Daily Devotions from dailyspurgeon.com  by Charles Haddon Spurgeon will include a selection from all of these publications each day:

  • C.H. Spurgeon Prayers

  • Spurgeon’s  Illustrative Anecdotes

  • Faith’s Checkbook

  • Morning

  •  & Evening

It should be the  desire of every born-again  believer to worship God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength, in Spirit and in truth.

“Study to show yourself approved unto God, a worker that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing [accurately sharing] the word of truth.”    2 Timothy 2:15

To this end, Heavenly Father, we pray that You will bless all who visit this website and bring  many to confess the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.  We ask this in Jesus’ name,  Amen.

  DailySpurgeon.com

This Website can not replace nor can it be a substitute for the in-person, personal assembling of ourselves together as is the manner of some.  Hebrews 10:23-27

Rather, its purpose is to save lost sinners and to teach and encourage believers through God’s Word and prayer to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ [The Anointed Messiah] in personal discipleship and worship  of the Lord Jesus as we are predestined to be conformed to His very image.

“For whom God did foreknow he did also predestinate to be conformed to the image of his son…” Romans 8:29

We are, instructed in the Word of GOD to assemble,  praise and worship God. Thus, we must assemble and worship the Lord Jesus Christ and exhort [encourage] and provoke one another to do good works.

Such worship may take place through, congregational singing of sacred hymns and spiritual songs, reading, preaching and obeying God’s Word, sharing Christian love and fellowship, agreeing together  with  specific public prayer requests, and reading and exhorting one another in the Word, to provoke one another to love and serve and bear witness with one another in the Holy Ghost.

Admonition: Online streaming cannot satisfy personal interaction or the warm fellowship of in-person assemblies of  brothers and sisters who are in Christ Jesus. Electronic media cannot substitute for the warm inter-personal love, fellowship, commitment, and compassion, nor does it provide for a kind and comforting touch or embrace of another believer.  e.g. Laying on of hands, 1 Timothy 4:14;  the right hands of Christian fellowship, Galatians 2:9; or an embrace, Acts 20:1; or greeting with a holy kiss,

1 Thessalonians 5:26.

We give thanks to the Lord, for the  Website DailySpurgeon.com  and pray that it will continue to be used of The Lord Jesus to build up fully devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ [Anointed Messiah] .  These followers will be taught to be disciples themselves and will then teach others to be disciples.

We pray that you will also be a radiant messenger of God to share the good news of Jesus Christ with every one, encouraging them to believe in Christ Jesus and to become the very image of Jesus Christ.

This ministry was begun as daily e-mails of Faith’s Checkbook by Charles H. Spurgeon were sent to John -Michael’s son, Jon Edward Riley.  Jon shared these messages with others and soon over 300 were added to the mailing list through his witness as he witnessed and  shared  his testimony with them.

Jon was called home by his loving Father in Heaven on January 16, 2021 leaving a legacy of this Website to minister to all who will  benefit in this labor of Love to the glorify God and His Eternal Kingdom. ALL Glory belongs to GOD, alone.

Jon is honored here; giving honor to whom honor is due.  Romans 13:7

We pray that many will be born again, challenged, encouraged, and built-up to become fully devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ and be conformed to His image; that they might be the firstborn among many brethren.  Romans 8:28-29.

Jon loved to say, “I’m a blood-bought, born-again Child of God!” to anyone he happened to meet.

… Jon’s  testimony lives on from one who, by grace, through faith was forever accepted in the Beloved; who’s loving ways brought the good news of Jesus to many. and one who is now present with the LORD  in glory forever.  One who, one day, we’ll reunite..

Jon  would sometimes just sing-out some of the following songs on the way to church, or just singing along with the Elvis Gospel CD that was always in our F-150’s CD player while riding with his Dad or,  Best of all, when  an inspired,  spontaneous praise from the Lord would just pop out from his joyful, creative, redeemed and loving heart.

Some of Jon’s Favorites:

I Love You Lord    by the Gaither choir

I Love You Lord  Universal Music Group

I  LOVE  You  Lord   by Jared Reynolds
Where No One Stands Alone   Gaither Vocal Band

Lead Me  & Rock-a My Soul   by Elvis and friends

He Knows Just What I Need  by Elvis

How Great Thou Art    with  Elvis
Lead Me & Rock-a My Soul   Elvis and friends
Lead Me, Guide Me  by Elvis

It Is No Secret   by Elvis written by Stuart Hamblen

The following recordings were discovered several months  after Jon was called home on January 16th 2021.  It’s such a blessing, to hear Elvis sing the Gospel message in song but it can’t compare with the Glory of being in the presence of the LORD for all eternity.

LIFE    by Elvis

*I Can Only Imagine being present with the LORD,  or hearing the completed song the Lord completed with Jon when he arrived; a song known only to the Lord,  to Jon and the few who heard Jon sing it here. Lyrics remembered  from him singing:   "See my Jesus, Walkin' on duh Waduh"…  an original, inspired song from our beloved  Jon, himself a true and renown original.

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE   with Wynonna Judd.

LOVE WITHOUT END, AMEN  (A Father’s Love) by George Strait honoring George H.W. Bush  (41st President) A favorite song of the President.

It’s also my sincere  message of love to all  my children, grand-children and great grand-children  and all loved ones.

…Jon would always say “Later”; [as in, see-ya later] instead of “good bye”.  It was the only farewell greeting he would ever use when parting company with a friend; and, everyone was Jon’s friend.

… He would never  say “good-bye”.

Now, as we remember the sound of him saying “Later”, it rings true in a  new and deeper meaning and it brings a joy and comfort to the hearts of those whom he loved so well; those who love him still and will forever more.

… and how much sweeter to us now, are the promises in these two Hymns:

’TILL WE MEET AGAIN. (sing along, won’t you?)

GOSPEL SERMONS

God Appeals to Reason  Isaiah 30:15-21   with Dr. Peter Masters

Before conversion, the claims of God mean nothing to us, but when God's Word speaks to our hearts, [by the Holy Spirit] the challenge becomes inescapable [and Irresistible ]. Self-searching begins, and the kindness of God's forgiving love is grasped as never before. Here is God's reasoning with souls.
God Gave them Up  by Alistair Begg

Dr, Peter Masters, Pastor,  METROPOLITAN TABERNACLE, LONDON, U.K.

TEACHING SERMONS Christ Prepares His Church

The call of the disciples, their unique role, and the care and patience of Christ in their training. Then the preparation of the church for extreme and persistent opposition, the reasons why demons were cast out, the unpardonable sin, and the supreme mark of true conversion.

    God Keeps His Promises

2 Corinthians 1.20

The goodness of God is fully demonstrated in the promises He makes in the Bible. That the Creator and Sovereign God should deign to give promises to us is amazing. Here are the major promises, how Christ makes them possible, and how we receive them.

Sanctify Them Through Thy Truth      John 17:17    Dr. Peter Masters, Pastor
Sanctification (purification, consecration and commitment) by the Word is the will of Christ for His own, and here we turn to the first three of the Ten Commandments to challenge our souls. How should these be applied today in our lives and churches?

Closeness to Christ    2 Timothy 2:10-12   Dr.  Peter Masters

In this hostile world, believers cannot live successfully and fruitfully without Christ being with their spirits. Here is why the soul is also called the spirit, and what it means for Christ to be with our spirit. Examples and counsels for securing His nearness.

What Is the Gospel  by the late Dr. R. C. Sproul
Christians are called to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but in our day there is confusion about the content of the Gospel. The biblical Gospel is challenged not only by Roman Catholics and liberals, but by those who claim to be evangelical. In this lecture, Dr. R. C. Sproul will clarify exactly what the Gospel is and what it is not.

Thy Hand Was Heavy Upon Me  Psalm 32:3-4  by Charles H. Spurgeon

The Phenomenon of Love Isaiah 63.7   Dr. Peter Masters
The nature and scope of human love is impressive, but Divine love, made visible in history and, supremely in the atoning sacrifice of Christ, is limitless, freely bestowed and certain toward all who find Him. Here are the 'loving-kindnesses of the Lord' they experience.
Living for the Flesh or for the Spirit  Romans 8.5-6     Dr. Peter Masters
There are two classes of people in the Bible, those who focus on 'the flesh', and those who relate to the Spirit. Here are the characteristics and goals of each, and how God can free us from the captivity of flesh to know communion with Himself.
Mutual Debts in Marriage    1 Corinthians 7:3    Dr. Peter Masters  15 January 2012
A key word has slipped out of some modern translations – the marital debt of benevolence, meaning goodwill and kind benefits. Here are seven debts each has to the other in Christian marriage, a sevenfold bond and blessing to the crowning earthly friendship of life’s journey. Are we paying what is ‘due’?

God’s Order for Man and Women   1 Corinthians Ch 11   Dr. Peter Masters
Paul answers the question on the roles of husbands and wives and affirms conformity to the dress code of head coverings in Greek society at that time. With Calvin and major confessions we show that the ‘message’ of clothing may change in other ages and lands.

Things Only Believers See   1 Corinthians 2:9   Dr. Peter Masters
Sunday Morning 13 February 2022
The apostle impresses upon us the spiritual blindness of the unconverted state to the wonders revealed in the Gospel, including future glories (described here). Here also is the meaning of 'comparing spiritual things with spiritual,'   judging all things and living the mind of Christ
Jesus Christ Himself  (Text only)   Ephesians 2:20

Keeping Alive the Spirit   Ephesians 2:22    Dr. Peter Masters
Sunday Morning 11 April 2021 (March 17 Sermon)
In the building of a spiritual family the work of the Holy Spirit is the vital power. Here several Holy Spirit verses in Ephesians are explored (including 'Be filled with the Spirit') to show the different activities of the Spirit in the Christian life.

The True Source of Power     with  Dr. Peter Masters
Sunday Morning 23 January 2022
For the Gospel to be credible, (the Corinthians [and many today] erroneously taught), we need  conspicuous personalities or preachers. Here Paul proclaims the true source of spiritual power, the preaching of the cross of Christ, and why it is foolishness to the perishing and power to the saved.

SERMONS: from THE Metropolitan Tabernacle, Founded by Charles Haddon Spurgeon  (London, UK)

He Loved and Gave Himself   with Dr. Peter Masters

The enduring amazement of Paul the Apostle shines through these famous words, urging us to explore and ponder the glorious Person of Christ and the way in which He 'gave Himself', or handed Himself over, to the work of redeeming His people.

SING: O, How I Love Jesus (medley)    By Gaither Vocal Band

A SINNER’S PRAYER  FOR WHOSOEVER:

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved     … pray like this, won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am lost.  I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross to pay my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity in Hell. My nature and behavior  has been sinful from birth.  Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m sorry for each and every sin I have ever done and look to You to forgive them all.
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You,  Lord Jesus, right now to save me.  You died on the cross for me, as God’s  sacrifice for my sin.

Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me,  I trust You to be my Savior and Lord.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins. I want  to follow You from now on.

You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross.

Thank you,  Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was born and that You love me still

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting  in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is alive and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave.

Thank You for saving me heavenly Father and Holy Spirit for Your comfort and guidance in all things.

With all my heart, thank you Lord Jesus for saving me. In your name, I pray, Amen.
