Because God will never leave nor forsake us, we may well be content with such things as we have. Since the Lord is ours, we cannot be left without a friend, a treasure, and a dwelling-place. This assurance may make us feel quite independent of men. Under such high patronage we do not feel tempted to cringe before our fellowmen, and ask of them permission to call our lives our own; but what we say we boldly say, and defy contradiction.

He who fears God has nothing else to fear.

We should stand in such awe of the living Lord that all the threats that can be used by the proudest persecutor should have

 no more effect upon us than the whistling of the wind.

Man in these days cannot do so much against us as he could when the apostle wrote the [scripture] verse at the head of this page.

Racks [for torture] and stakes [for burning people alive] are out of fashion. Giant Pope cannot burn the pilgrims now.

If the followers of false teachers try cruel mockery and scorn, we do not wonder at it, for the men of this world cannot love the heavenly seed. What then? We must bear the world’s scorn. It breaks no bones.

God helping us, let us be bold, and when the world rages let it rage, but let us not fear it.

Prayer: Thank you Father that we may boldly say,

MORNING May 10

"But now is [Jesus] Christ risen from the dead." —1 Corinthians 15:20

THE whole system of Christianity rests upon the fact that

"Christ is risen from the dead,"for 

"If Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain: ye are yet in your sins."

The divinity [divine nature] of Christ finds its surest proof in His resurrection, since He was

"Declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead."

It would not be unreasonable to doubt His Deity if He had not risen.

Moreover,Christ's sovereignty [preeminent and supreme authority] depends upon His resurrection:

"For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that He might be Lord both of the dead and living."

Again, our justification, that choice blessing of the covenant, is linked with Christ's triumphant victory over death and the grave, for

"He was delivered for our offenses, and was raised again for our justification."

Nay, [but even]  more, our very regeneration is connected with His resurrection, for we are

"begotten [fathered] again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."

And most certainly our ultimate resurrection rests here, for,

"If the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwells in you."

If Christ is not risen, then shall we not rise; but if He is risen then they who are asleep in Christ have not perished, but in their flesh they shall surely behold their God.

Thus, the silver thread of resurrection runs through all the believer's blessings, from his regeneration onward to his eternal glory, and binds them together.

How important then will this glorious fact be in his estimation, and how will he rejoice that beyond a doubt it is established, that 

"now is Christ risen from the dead."

The promise is fulfill'd,

Redemption's work is done,

Justice with mercy's reconciled,

For God has raised His Son.

EVENING May 10

"The only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." —John 1:14

BELIEVER, you can bear your testimony that

Christ is the only begotten of the Father, as well as the first begotten from the dead.

You can say, He is divine to me, [even] if He be human to all the world. He has done that for me which none but a [an everlasting and almighty] God could do. He has subdued my stubborn will, melted a heart of stone, opened gates of brass, and snapped bars of iron. He has turned my mourning into laughter, and my desolation into joy; He has led my captivity captive, and made my heart rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.

Let others think as they will of Him, to me He must be the only begotten of the Father: blessed be His name.

And He is

full of grace.

Had He not been I should never have been saved [from Hell, to Heaven]. He drew [attracted] me when I struggled to escape from His grace; and when at last I came all trembling like a condemned culprit to His mercy seat [throne of mercy] He said,

"Thy sins which are many are all forgiven: be of good cheer [cheerful]."

And he is full of truth. True have His promises been,

not one has failed. I bear witness that

never [a] servant had such a master as I have;

never brother such a kinsman [next of kin] as He has been to me;

never [a] spouse [had] such a husband as Christ has been to my soul;

never [has a] sinner [had] a better Savior;

never [has a] mourner [had] a better comforter than Christ has been to my spirit.

I want none [no one] beside Him.

In life He is my life, and

in death He will be the death of death;

in poverty Christ is my riches;

in sickness he makes my bed [gives me comfort and kind, tender care];

in darkness He is my star, and

in brightness He is my sun;

He is the manna [divine bread come down from heaven] of the camp in the wilderness, and

He will be the new corn of the host [military armies] when they come to Canaan.

Jesus is to me all grace and no wrath [extreme anger],

all truth and no falsehood: and of truth and grace,

He is full, infinitely full.

A SINNER’S PRAYER:   … FOR WHOSOEVER: [For One and all]

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved     … pray like this, won’t you?   

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am hopeless.  I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross for my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity condemned to Hell. I have been  self-centered from birth.  Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m guilty and sorry for each and every sin I have done and look to You to forgive me of them all. 
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You,  Lord Jesus, right now to save me.  You died on the cross for me, because of my sin  and You say,  “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21.

Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me,  I trust You, to  be my Lord and Savior from now on.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins.  I ask You to abide in me and give me the desire to always follow You.
You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross.  Even the sins of the whole world.

Thank you,  Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me even before I was born and that You still love me now. I love You too.

 

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You have called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting  in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave. Romans  8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [Holy Ghost, Comforter, Spirit of Truth]
 

Thank You for saving me heavenly Father. With all my heart, thank you Father for saving me in Jesus’ name,  Amen.

Allow us to share the joy of your new birth with heaven. Won’t you? Heaven rejoices over each redeemed sinner. Luke 15:7

In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:

The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,

thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on a defective text. Those who want to honor the Word of God must not promote the use of any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is evil in itself, but because the attitude of being contented to use a blemished version rather than an existing unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has taken the trouble to preserve for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it would be to Him if His people now chose instead to change over to a version that is based on a defective text.

Let the biblical story of Nadab and Abihu be a lesson to all:

And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. It’s the ONLY ENGLISH translation that is translated into English from the Textus Receptus [This Received Text is rendered from 5,321 Greek manuscripts that overwhelmingly agree with one another known as the Majority Text  MT. All other versions are translated from Greek text created by either  Westcott and Hort  or the Nestle-Aland that was  rendered by “Chery-picking” only 55 Greek manuscripts or fragments. These do not even agree with themselves and far less with the preserved and protected Textus Receptus.
