DEVOTION for  December 9th    *A,D, 2025. Written and calendared for this date by Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892.

All Bible versions NOT  translated from the Textus Receptus [The (traditional) Received Greek Text] include variant  readings that diminish the full  glory and the most Holy reverence due to Almighty GOD, that He preserves and protects it immutably  in the 1769 Edition of the 1611 King James Version  KJV Bible. This version is also known as the Authorized King James  Version  AKJV and the  Authorized Version AV. ALL GLORY is due to and must be given to the Omnipotent Lord of ALL.

The Geneva Bible was also faithfully translated from the Greek Textus Receptus and included  comments favorable to the Protestant Reformation  from inspired, devoted,  faithful Christian men of GOD; They were Puritan Believers known to be  beyond reproach.

This Bible was first brought to Plymouth Massachusetts  in the American Colonies by the Puritan Pilgrims guided by Captain Christopher Jones’s on the Mayflower sailing ship in 1620. A 1592 Edition of the Geneva Bible that belonging to a Mayflower passenger and the Governor of the Plymouth Colony (Later to become the State of   Massachusetts) by William Bradford and is on display at the Pilgrim Hall Museum in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the oldest continuously operating public museum in the United States.

The traditional Textus Receptus [Received Greek Text] unlike any other Greek Text was taken  from more than 5,321 original Majority Greek Manuscripts MT that agree 98% with one another. Other variant readings are translations invented by  either Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland. These fabricated Greek Texts were translated from only a handful [45] of Majority Text Manuscripts MT and  lack the  trustworthiness of  the inspired 1769 [1611] King James Version, KJV or the Geneva Bible and are the only two translations of the traditional, reliable, inspired, [GOD BREATHED] immutable and providentially and divinely protected Textus Receptus.

Bridge to Babylon The 1881 Textual Criticism Controversy

             (169 mins.)

The Bridge to Babylon video presents evidence that tracks the explosion of more than 100 new versions of English translations  of the Bible. The continuing attempts to replace, add or take away from the 1769 King James Version of the Holy Bible does not  prevail because GOD Himself preserves and protects The  inspired, inerrant, immutable and infallible  Holy Word of GOD from all heresy, blasphemy, confusion , errors, additions, subtractions or changes.

Can   DAILYSPURGEON  be trusted? Is it trustworthy?

Is it of God?

YES, it can!    Yes, it is!     Here’s why.

1 John 4:1-3

Beloved ones, don’t be believing every spirit [everyone or !everything] you hear but be testing the spirit [voice] whether it is of God: because many false prophets have gone [come] out into the world. Here’s how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit [voice] that confesses [avows] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh, having come[who came] out of God, is of God: and every spirit that confesses not [doesn’t audibly avow] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

I therefore must and do audibly confess,  that Jesus Christ is come  [is here]  in the flesh.

[All translations of the Bible that use a Greek text other than the traditional and faithful Textus Receptus ignore the Greek word “ictin” [the Greek word that means “is” in English].  This omission causes the meaning of “is here” to  be changed from “is” come” [is here] to “has” come”.

This error is self-evident because non-believers, false prophets, atheists or heretics can, and frequently do, affirm that Jesus Christ “has come” [in the flesh].

While this is a true statement, when taken at face value, the  meaning  “has come” is clearly not the same as “is here”; which is the valid, scriptural test of  discernment to know if words are from the Spirit of God or the spirit of antichrist.

The most well documented fact in all of human history is that the Lord Jesus Christ [The Messiah]  “has” come in the flesh. However, the question of much greater importance,  is not whether the spirit [a spoken or written word] being considered and tested confesses that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh but, whether the confession being made affirms that Jesus Christ, “is come” [is here], from God, in the flesh.

Ephesians 5:30-32

30 for we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery: but I [The Apostle Paul]  speak concerning Christ and the church.  [The body and Bride of CHRIST]

_____________________________________________________________

“I speak concerning Christ and the church.” [the fleshly embodiment, here and now ,  of the body of Christ]. Because  followers of Jesus Christ are members of the incarnate Body of Christ [The Church] I affirm and avow that Jesus Christ is here

[Not “Has come”] in the flesh.

PRAYER 18, Part 7 of 8 December 9th    O, FOR MORE GRACE!

Remember [O Lord] all people, especially the poor, the widows and the fatherless, and any that are depressed in spirit, whose depression tends to the failure of reason; Lord, restore them, and such as are dying. O Lord, let them not die without hope, and may Thy believing people learn to pass away without even tasting the bitterness of death. May they enter into rest, each one walking in his own [given by faith through grace] uprightness. [We ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 128: December 9th    THE LAYMAN’S [Believer’s] PRIVILEGE.

There is a poor prisoner in a cell. His hair is all matted, over his eyes. A few weeks ago the judge put on the black cap, and commanded that he should be taken to the place from whence he came, and hung by the neck until dead. The poor wretch has his heart broken within him, whilst he thinks of the pinion, of the gallows, and of the drop, and of after-death. O! who can tell how his heart is rent and racked, whilst he thinks of leaving all, and going he knoweth not [doesn’t know] where!

There is a man there, sound asleep upon a bed. He has been asleep there these two days, and under his pillow he has that prisoner’s [the other’s] free pardon. I would horsewhip that scoundrel, horsewhip him soundly, for making that poor man have two days of extra misery. Why, if I had had that man’s pardon, I would have been there, if I rode on the wings of lightning to get at him, and I should have thought the fastest train that ever run but slow [the fastest train ever would have seemed too slow] , if I had so sweet a message to carry, and such a poor heavy heart to carry it to. But that man, that brute, is sound asleep, with a free pardon under his pillow, whilst that poor wretch’s heart is breaking with dismay!

Ah! do not be too hard with him: he is here today. Side by side with you this morning there is sitting a poor penitent sinner; God has pardoned him, and intends that you should tell him that good news. He sat by your side last Sunday, and he wept all the sermon through, for he felt his guilt. If you had spoken to him then, who can tell? He might have had comfort; but there he is now you do not tell him the good news. Do you leave that to me do do? Ah! sirs, but you can not serve God by proxy [through another]; what the minister [pastor] does is nought [nothing] to you; [has nothing to do with you] you have your own personal duty to do, and God has given you a precious promise. It is now on your heart. Will you not turn round to your next neighbor, and tell him that promise? 0! There is many an aching heart that aches because of our idleness in telling the good news of this salvation.

[Tell about Jesus. Tell what he did on the cross, tell how prevailed against sin, destroyed the works of the devil and secured our pardon and how He offers it freely to any and all. Share it, won’t you?]

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK December 9th  THE “ALL” OF BELIEF

-Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth- Mark 9:23

-Jesus le dijo: Si puedes creer, al que cree todo es posible.- Marcos 9:23

Our unbelief is the greatest hindrance in our way; in fact, there is no other real difficulty as to our spiritual progress and prosperity. The Lord can do everything; but when He makes a rule that according to our faith so shall it be unto us, our unbelief ties the hands

of His Omnipotence [infinite power]. Yes, the confederacies of evil shall be scattered if we can but [only] believe. Despised truth [truth that may be despised by the unregenerate] shall lift its head if we will but have confidence in the God of truth. We can bear our load of trouble, or pass uninjured through the waves of distress, if we can gird [prepare for action : muster up (gather) our resources] our loins [the upper and lower abdominal regions and the region about the hips] with the girdle of peace, that girdle which is buckled on by the hands of trust. What can we not believe? Is everything possible except believing in God? Yet He is always true; why do we not believe Him? He is always faithful to His word; why can we not trust Him? [why can t we trust Him?] When we are in a right state of heart faith costs no effort [is effortless]: it is then as natural for us to rely upon God as for a child to trust its father. The worst of it is, that we can believe God about everything except the present pressing trial [trouble]. This is folly [foolish, wicked] . Come, my soul, shake off such sinfulness, and trust thy [your] God with the load, the labor, the longing of this present [trouble]. [After] This [is] done, all is done.

Prayer: Thank You Lord Jesus for Your promise that if I can believe in You, ALL things are possible to me. Help me therefore to trust You from the bottom of my heart. Thank You for Your sacrificial love poured out by Your life’s blood on Calvary [the cross] for me. Thank you, Lord Jesus, Amen.

MORNING December 9th

"Therefore will the Lord wait that He may be gracious unto you. "— Isaiah 30:18

—Jehováh esperaré para tener piedad de vosotros¾ Isaías 30:18

GOD often DELAYS IN ANSWERING PRAYER. We have several instances of this in sacred Scripture. Jacob did not get the blessing from the angel until near the dawn of day—he had to wrestle all night for it. The poor woman of Syro-Phoenicia was answered not a word for a long while. Paul besought [earnestly requested] the Lord thrice [three times] that "the thorn in the flesh" might be taken from him, and he received no assurance that it should be taken away, but instead thereof a promise that God's grace should be sufficient for him. If you have been knocking at the gate of mercy and have received no answer, shall I tell you why the mighty Maker has not opened the door and let you in? Our Father has reasons peculiar [specific, but unknown to us] to Himself for thus keeping us waiting. Sometimes it is to show His power and His sovereignty, that men may know that Jehovah has a right to give or to withhold. More frequently [always] the delay is for our profit. You are perhaps kept waiting in order that your desires may be more fervent [more sincere and heartfelt]. God knows that delay will quicken and increase desire, and that if He keeps you waiting you will see your necessity more clearly and will seek more earnestly; and that you will prize the mercy all the more for its long tarrying. There may also be something wrong in you which needs to be removed before the joy of the Lord is given. Perhaps your views of the Gospel plan are confused, or you may be placing some little reliance on self, instead of trusting simply and entirely to the Lord Jesus. Or, God makes you tarry awhile that He may the more fully dis-play the riches of His grace to you at [long] last. Your prayers are all filed in heaven, and if not immediately answered they are certainly not forgotten, but in a little while shall be fulfilled to your delight and satisfaction. Let not despair [or depression] make you silent, but continue instant in earnest supplication [prayer]. [God, in his sovereign grace may not reveal His mind to us in our mortal existence; His thoughts are above our thoughts so we would not understand even if He did: be content and know that I am God. O my soul.] ________________________________________

EVENING December 9th

"My people shall dwell in quiet resting places. "— Isaiah 32:18

—Mi pueblo habitará en morada de paz— Isaías 32:18

PEACE and rest belong not to the unregenerate [unbelievers], they [peace and rest] are the peculiar possession of the Lord's people, and of them only. The God of Peace gives perfect peace to those whose hearts are stayed upon Him. When man was unfallen, [before Adam’s original sin] his God gave him the flowery bowers [garden shelters] of Eden as his quiet resting places; alas, [more’s the pity] how soon sin blighted [ruined] the fair abode of innocence! In the day of universal wrath [anger] when the flood swept away a guilty race, the chosen family was quietly secured in the resting-place of the ark [ship] which floated them from the old condemned world into the new earth of the rainbow and the covenant [divine promise of God], herein typifying Jesus, the ark [rescue-ship] of our salvation.

Israel rested safely beneath the blood-sprinkled habitations of Egypt when the destroying angel smote the first-born; and in the wilderness the shadow of the pillar of cloud, and the flowing rock gave the weary pilgrims sweet repose [rest]. At this hour [even now] we rest in the promises of our faithful God, knowing that His words are full of truth and power; we rest in the doctrines of His word, which are consolation itself; we rest in the covenant [His divine promise] of His grace, which is a haven of delight. More highly fvored are we than David in Adullam [a cave and place of refuge where David hid from Saul], or Jonah [swallowed by the great fish] beneath his gourd [shade protecting from the heat], for none can invade or destroy our shelter. The person of Jesus is the quiet resting place of His people, and when we draw near to Him in the breaking of bread, in the hearing of the Word, the searching of the Scriptures, prayer, or praise, we find any form of approach to Him to be the return of peace to our spirits.

I hear the words of love, I gaze upon the blood,

I see the mighty sacrifice, and I have peace with God.

'Tis everlasting peace, sure as Jehovah's name,

'Tis stable as His steadfast throne, for evermore the same:

The clouds may go and come, and storms may sweep my sky,

This blood-sealed friendship changes not, the cross is ever nigh. [near]

A SINNERS PRAYER  FOR ANYONE:

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

For "whosoever will" may surely come and take of the water of life freely, because "whosoever will" [one who] is already drawn by the Father!  And you have the word of Christ: "All that the Father giveth me, shall come to me; and him that cometh unto me I will in no wise cast out !"

Therefore, pray and call on the Lord Jesus and be saved    … won’t you?

(Pray out-loud, from your heart:)

“Lord Jesus, I’m lost. I’m a selfish, sinful and hopeless sinner. I cannot save myself. Without you and your sacrifice on the cross to save me, I would be hell bound. My sinful nature reveals itself in my sinfulness. I’m totally depraved and I sin because it is my natural born inclination. I know that me doing my best, or being as good as I can, or better than others or making excuses will never be enough to save myself.

I need to be saved.

I look to You, Lord Jesus to save me. Your word states, “It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21. I call on You now Lord Jesus believing You will save me.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You so loved me that you would and, in fact, did die for me on the cross.

I ask that You forgive all my sins and save me. I’m sorry for all my sins and turn away from each one. Thank you, Lord, for paying, in full, the price of punishment for all my sins and for saving me.

Thank you, Heavenly Father that You say, “Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: for I am God and there is none else.”
I do look to You in believing You always keep Your Word and. will save me.

Thank You for revealing in me, that the wages of sin is death;  but Your gift is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead victorious over sin, death and the grave and that in Him I am eternally saved.

Thank you for saving me.   Holy Spirit. please guide me into all truth and shape me into the very image of Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ in whose name I pray, Amen.

God’s  providence supplies everything He ordains according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

The apostle Paul’s gratitude, contentment and blessing, expressed here, to the Philippians, (and all future believers) is a true reflection of out thoughts regarding DailySpurgeon as well.

Our desire is for “Fruit that may abound to your account.”

"For even in [the] Thessaloni'ca [jail] ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. Philippians 4:17. But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received the things which were sent from you, a sweet fragrance, a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God. …[therefore] I know that my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:17-19.

Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you. All the saints salute you,

Chiefly they that are of *Caesar’s household. ]. “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ

be with you all. Amen” Philippians 4:20-23

* Not only were new converts won to Christ in Caesar's household, but after their conversion they remained to serve in that household.

They did not abandon their post of duty just because their surroundings were no longer congenial [comfortable]. [They were now out of their comfort zone.] The truth had found them there, and there they would remain, and by their changed life and character testify of the transforming power of their faith and new life in Jesus Christ.
In the same way, may fruit indeed abound to your account. May God supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus according to His Word in Jesus name, Amen.

A SINNERS PRAYER (FOR WHOSOEVER):

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

For "whosoever will" may surely come and take of the water of life freely, because "whosoever will" [one who] is already drawn by the Father! You may hear the word of Christ: "All that the Father giveth me, shall come to me; and him that cometh unto me I will in no wise cast out !"

So, pray and call on the Lord Jesus and be saved      … won’t you?

(Pray audibly and from your heart:)

“Lord Jesus, I’m lost. I’m a selfish, sinful and hopeless sinner. I cannot save myself. Without you and your sacrifice on the cross to save me, I would be hell bound. My sinful nature reveals itself in my sinfulness. I’m totally depraved and I sin because it is my nature and my natural born inclination. I know that me doing my best, or being as good as I can, or better than others or making excuses will never be enough for me to save myself.

I thank You that You have forgiven all my sins and will save me if I trust in You.. I’m sorry for all my sins and turn away from each one. Thank you, Lord, for paying, in full, the price of punishment for all my sins and for saving me.

Thank you, Heavenly Father that You now say, “Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: for I am God and there is none else.”
I do look to You in believing You always keep Your Word and. will save me.

Thank You for revealing to me, that the wages of sin is death;  but Your gift is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

MISSION STATEMENT
Our solemn  aim is to trust and obey the Lord Jesus in everything. This  relies completely upon God to achieve His purpose for us through His means. We purpose, with God’s empowerment and  help,  to save the lost, comfort, strengthen and encourage believers, and  rightly divide God’s Word to proclaim the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ to every creature.

The Holy Bible is God’s eternal, inerrant, infallible, immutable revealed and divinely preserved Word.  It is His supernatural, complete scripture  of all revealed truth.  He brings guidance through it to us personally and to each local body of Christian believers. With God’s empowerment, we will read, study, meditate-on, trust-in  and obey God’s Holy Bible and encourage others to do the same. We hold it to be the supreme authority and the preeminent and divinely established Stare Decisis [Latin: to stand by that which is decided, the legal principle of precedence,   literally "to stand by decided matters"] in all things.

Therefore, the purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to publish the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature. And, to serve all, in love,  especially those in the household of faith. This purpose compels us to follow, and rightly present, God’s Holy Word, the Bible as God’s divinely preserved truth; the foundation of this ministry.

Tabernacle History:
The  inspired preaching, teaching, soul winning and writings of Charles Haddon Spurgeon were solely based, empowered and inspired by God’s Holy Word the Bible.  His written sermons and devotional content continue to benefit today’s readers with authentic  Gospel preaching and sound biblical teaching. His ministry continues to flourish from the original (Spurgeon’s)  Metropolitan Tabernacle,  a church fellowship began in 1650 with the present  building constructed by members of the congregation in 1861 and rebuilt after the second world war..

Spurgeon's written materials are for the edification of the church body as well as a great benefit, blessing and challenge to all readers. Our desire is that the written Word of God will become the Living  Word in each and every reader. To this end, a calendar is indexed (top, right) on the Home page of DailySpurgeon.com for daily study, meditation and prayer. An unabridged and strictly maintained fidelity to Spurgeon’s original calendar and unabridged text is carefully guarded.

VETERAN'S DAY TRIBUTE TO NORTH DAKOTA VETERAN SCOUTS  (click this blue link for video)

The heart of gratitude from JON EDWARD RILEY, a Native Son,  Honoring the Service of Native American Scouts and Armed services Veterans of the United States.

In loving memory of Jon Edward Riley (1971-2021) who would sometimes just bust-out singing the following songs; sometimes, on the way to church sometimes just singing along with the Elvis Gospel CD that was always kept in the truck’s CD player or, even better, a song the Lord would spontaneously put in his joyful and loving heart.

I LOVE You Lord      by Jared Reynolds

How Great Thou Art    with Elvis

Lead Me & Rock-a My Soul   by Elvis and friends

…Jon always said “Later”; [see-ya-later] instead of “good bye”. It was his standard greeting to bid farewell … He would never  say “good-bye”. Now, as we remember the sound of him saying “Later”, it rings very true as to its new and deeper meaning and it brings a joyfulness and comfort to the hearts of those he loved so well; those who love him still and will forever more.

… we are  reminded of the promise of the Hymn:

 ’Till We Meet Again. Amen.

GOD’S  WORD

From The Metropolitan Tabernacle (C.H. Spurgeon 1834-1892)

SERMON: November 19th

What Can You Trust   Titus 1:2  with Dr. Peter Masters

Life is a search for dependable things in an unreliable world. Apart from wilful lies there are countless mistaken ideas, half-truths, empty promises, excuses and exaggerations, not to mention gossip and slander. Here the truthfulness of God is presented and His solid promises to all who come to Him.

SACRED LITERATURE: December 9th

THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS  by John Bunyan

ORIGINAL: The Pilgrim’s Progress  Pub. by Logos in 1853  from the 1678 Original

REVISED: by Barry E. Horner: The Pilgrim’s Progrefs  [sic] ©1999

The Pilgrim Progress is the world’s most widely published and most famous Allegory, It was commonly found among he scant possessions in the cabins of the early American Pioneers. It was  loved and  read, second only to the Holy Bible, God’s Word, of guidance, encouragement and comfort. It’s also considered, by some, to be the world’s first English novel and is the most published book of all time. other than the Bible. There were 1,300 editions printed before 1938, 250 years after the author's death. It remains among the world’s most famous literature.

Excerpt from  Spurgeon Sermon    ― CHRIST IN YOU

"Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me [Spurgeon]  of Mr. Bunyan’s picture of [the town of] Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [melodies] , for the king himself was come. Up to the castle of the heart [main castle]  he rode in triumph, and took his royal throne to be henceforth the sole lord and king of the city.

Christ in you is a right royal word. Christ swaying his scepter from the center of your being over every power and faculty, desire and resolve, bringing every thought into captivity to himself, oh, this is glory begun, and the sure pledge of heaven. Oh for more of the imperial sovereignty of Jesus; it is our liberty to be absolutely under his sway.

Spurgeon Sermon: December 5th  Christ in You, May 13, 1883 Scripture: Colossians 1:27  From: Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit, Volume 29   (cit. II. THE SWEETNESS OF THIS MYSTERY, WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU, § 5)

MISSION STATEMENT:
Our aim is to encourage  God’s purpose in one another, to save souls, strengthen and encourage believers in the Word, and proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.

We believe the Bible is God’s revealed Word and that through His Word He guides us as individuals and as a local body of believers. We are resolved, God helping us, to study, meditate and pray to rightly divide God’s revealed and preserved Word holding it as the final authority in all things.
The purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to make known the Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ to everyone. We desire to show the love of Jesus  to all, especially those in need and those in the household of faith. The Bible is God’s everlasting, inspired, (God breathed) inerrant, (error free) immutable (unchangeable), and infallible (incapable of being wrong) divinely protected and preserved  message of salvation to the whole world.  It is the essence of  the ministry  inspired here.
The  inspirational source of  preaching, teaching and writing  by Charles Haddon Spurgeon is from this same essence.  His writings continue to be  much read and much used today in the  support of Gospel preaching. Such ministry is still flourishing  in London at  the Metropolitan Tabernacle,  the church constructed for the 6,000 member congregation in the 1800's. Our effort here is to increase  the publication, circulation and use of Spurgeon's materials for the benefit of the church body as well as all other readers.  To this end we have arranged a daily Table of Contents and have added brief annotations [shown in brackets]  while maintaining a strict fidelity to Spurgeon’s original and unabridged text.

Published Titles from Spurgeon’s written work are used exclusively as the resource from which
selections are made for inclusion into the Devotion each day from Daily Spurgeon:

·       C.H. Spurgeon Prayers

·       Spurgeon’s  Illustrative Anecdotes

·       Faith’s Checkbook

·       Morning &  Evening

These titles of devotions are from the body of inspired work from the gospel preaching and devotional writings of Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892.

No servant of God has given a greater legacy of gospel exposition to the world in the English language.  Spurgeon has been and is today widely read with great benefit from the 1800’s to this present time. He was the beloved venerable pastor of

Prayer: Dear Lord, please empower this, Your ministry to thrive in winning souls, and helping us to be loving and compassionate toward all who are in need, especially those in the household of faith, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company is not intended to praise or exalt  Charles H. Spurgeon. He didn’t need or want it then and wouldn’t desire it now. Our intention is to lift up and glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM and .
Precaution: These Messages and prayers alone will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus. Neither do they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely protected, preserved and eternally immutable Word. (The King James version (KJV), known also as the Authorized Version (AV), is the preferred English Bible because its accuracy and fidelity to the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text) are inerrant and infallible and avoid doctrinal and editorial weaknesses  found in all contemporary versions that all follow the inferior Greek text of the Critical text theory advanced by Westcott and Hort.
The Printed Prayer Selection must not be read or offered as a substitute for personal, fervent, effectual, heart-felt, prayer. It  is intended rather, to bless and warm the hearts of those who presently seek a season of fervent, authentic two-way, heart-to-heart  fellowship and prayer with the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit.

Preaching  Preparation:  If you are studying or preparing to preach from a specific, scripture text, Please inform us so that we may  send you a Sermon from Mr. Spurgeon on the message, precept and application most closely aligned to your selected text.

My Prayer,  Dear Father,  is that You bless, lift up, encourage and teach all readers that You guide here.  Bless all those who minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ and may Your holy anointing fall fresh, continually upon each one who rightly divides and faithfully proclaims Your Word. Save many souls and make disciples of all who love and follow You. Be glorified in everything that is done in Your name, Lord Jesus.  Amen.

… and pray for souls to be saved.

The Lord … is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.  2 Peter 3:9

Pray also that believers will rightly divide God’s inerrant eternal Word forever settled in heaven.  Psalm 119:89

 MISSION PURPOSE:
Our aim is to trust and obey the Lord Jesus Christ in everything. We rely wholly upon the Holy Spirit to impart God’s  divine revelation to us from His Word, the Holy Bible.  With God’s help, we will follow Jesus.  We expect  that lost souls will be saved, believers, comforted, strengthened and encouraged. To  God be all the glory.

The Bible is God’s divinely inspired [God breathed] revealed, infinite, eternal, inerrant, infallible, immutable Word to all mankind.  This divine, supernatural Word brings all revealed truth to the world. We purpose, therefore, to follow  God’s Holy Word, Personal guidance and guidance to the local church comes by His Word.

Hence, we resolve, God helping us, to read, study, meditate-on, trust-in  and obey God’s revealed and divinely preserved Word,  holding it to be the supreme authority and the only divinely established Stare Decisis [Latin: to stand by that which is decided] in all things.

Therefore, the purpose of The John Mark Publishing Company is to publish and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature, ministering God’s love to all, especially those in the household of faith.  The Bible is God’s everlasting, inspired, (God breathed) inerrant, infallible, unchangeable, divinely protected and preserved Word of love and salvation to the entire world.  It is also the essential foundation of this ministry.
History: The  inspired preaching, teaching and writing  of Charles Haddon Spurgeon is all empowered by God’s revealed Word the Bible.  His written publications continue to benefit readers through authentic Gospel preaching and sound biblical teaching. This ministry continues to flourish from  (Spurgeon’s)  Metropolitan Tabernacle, (Brief History) a church fellowship that was begun in 1650. The building was constructed by members of the congregation in 1861.

We present Spurgeon's printed  materials to edify the church body as well as for the benefit, blessing and challenge to all readers. Our desire is that the written Word of God will become the Living  Word in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ in each and every reader.

Dailyspurgeon.com is offered to encourage and provide opportunity to hear the Gospel [Good News] preached, and to engage in daily devotional meditation, Bible study and prayer. Careful adherence to Spurgeon’s calendar and  original, unabridged text is given herein.

No servant of God has left a greater legacy of presenting the Gospel to the world in the English language. (Now translated into many other languages)  Spurgeon is widely read with great benefit. He is a beloved pastor and founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England, still thriving TODAY.  You’re invited to Live-stream worship services from London with Dr. Peter Masters, current  pastor since 1960.
Prayer: Dear Lord, empower your ministry to win many souls, and serve those in need, especially those in the household of faith, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company does not solicit praise of  Charles H. Spurgeon or his writing or preaching.  He didn’t need or want it then and wouldn’t desire it now.  Our aim is to lift up and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach HIM only and him crucified.

Precaution: These Messages and prayers will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus nor gathering for corporate worship. Neither do they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word.

The Authorized King James version (AKJV), also known as the Authorized Version (AV), is the preferred English Bible because it is translated into English accurately and faithfully from the Greek Textus Receptus [received text] and the Hebrew Masoretic Text  that bring the greatest glory to God and avoids doctrinal error, inaccuracies in translation, editorial changes or ambiguous readings found in other translations. It is distinguished further by the requirement of Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed only by the Cambridge University Press, the Crown’s authorized printer. No other [person or publisher] may print, copy or import the King James Bible into Great Brittan by order of the Crown.

Printed Prayer: Printed prayers must not be read or offered as a substitute for personal, fervent, effectual, heart-felt, prayer. They are offered, rather, to warm the hearts of those who will presently seek a season of fervent, authentic two-way, heart-to-heart  fellowship and prayer with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Authentic revelations from God during  prayer are always consistent with His revealed Word, the Bible.

My Prayer: Dear Father,  is that You would touch, lift up, encourage and teach all who faithfully minister your Word.  Bless all who minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May Your blessing and holy anointing fall fresh upon each dear reader and abide with each one who rightly divides and faithfully proclaims Your Word  [The Bible]. Please save many souls; and may all be glory be yours alone. I pray this in the name of our Redeemer, The Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

We pray that you will NOW trust [believe in] the Lord Jesus Christ [The Messiah] as your personal, and only Lord and savior, and worship Him in Spirit and truth.

The aim of this website is to encourage and support believers to have greater love and stronger devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ. To this end, devotional support is offered through prayer, praise, and gospel preaching of God’s Word.

To the non-believer, is proclaimed The Good News that Jesus Saves and pray that they will trust in HIM and publicly confess their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to be born again.

Join in, won’t you? with family, friends and others to pray, hear and heed the gospel of Jesus, and to sing hymns and praises worshiping God in spirit and in truth to God’s glory. Ephesians 5:18-20

As fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ,  we encourage one another to:

• Pray with our heavenly Father, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; 1 Thessalonians 5:17

• Be obedient to the eternal, inspired, immutable, inerrant, infallible, revealed and protected Word of God, revealed through Jesus Christ, the living Word; 1 Peter 1:23

• Be [Be being] filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:18-19

• Forsake not the assembling of yourselves together as the manner of some is;

Hebrews 10:23-25

For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

 - Jesus Christ   Matthew 18:19-20

You are invited to worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob through trust in and obedience to His only begotten Son, God’s Word made flesh, the Lord Jesus Christ, [the Messiah] the Lamb of God and to follow Him in proclaiming God’s Gospel of eternal life to every creature. John 3:16

To this end, Audio, Video, Praise and Printed resources are freely offered here in the name of Jesus Christ, [The Messiah].

The Audio content includes Sacred Music, The Pilgrim’s Progress and Gospel preaching of sermons, prayerfully selected, to present daily devotionals with the prayer that the lost will be saved; encouraged, challenged, built-up and that all who visit the website will grow in grace and be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ.

  • Preaching is from The Metropolitan Tabernacle (London, U.K.) by Pastor, Dr. Peter Masters or invited guests including the narration of recorded Sermons preached by Charles Haddon Spurgeon who is still known as The Prince of Preachers.

SACRED LITERATURE:

ORIGINAL: The Pilgrim’s Progress  Pub. by Logos,1853 from 1678 Original by John Bunyan

REVISED TEXT by Barry E. Horner: The Pilgrim’s Progrefs [sic]...

in Pilgrim’s Progress. (Tthe World’s most widely circulated Allegory by John Bunyan, also credited, by some, as being the world’s first English novel.

IT’S FREE. No subscription required. You may choose to read at your own pace, or you may want to view DailySpugeon.com for daily encounters with Pilgrim.)

"Christ in us is Christ reigning." reminds me [Spurgeon's comment] of Mr. Bunyan’s picture of [the town of] Mansoul, …when the Prince Immanuel laid siege to it, and Diabolus from within the city strove to keep him out. It was a, hard time for Mansoul then; but when at last the battering rams had broken down the gates, and the silver trumpets sounded, and the prince’s captains entered the breach, then on a day the prince himself did ride down the city’s streets, while liberated citizens welcomed him with all their hearts, hung out all their streamers, and made the church towers rock again as the bells rang out merry peals [melody] , for the king himself was come. Up to the castle of the heart he rode in triumph, and took his royal throne to be henceforth the sole lord and king of the city.

ADULT AUDIO Episodes and CHILDREN’S VIDEO Story Parts:

You may choose to read or listen to Pilgrim’s Progress as a bed time story.

It’s the world’s most famous allegory and is the all-time, world-wide best seller second only to the Bible. Some believe it to be the world’s first novel written in English.

It will bless, encourage and instruct pilgrims (readers and seekers) of all ages for a life-time.

DEVOTION  for December 9th   *A.D. 2024 Written and calendared for this exact date by Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892.

*A.D. Does NOT mean after death as is commonly believed. It is a Latin abbreviation
for anno Domani (It means “Year of our Lord” in English)

BC/AD versus BCE/CE What’s the difference?

Stand for the Truth, Won’t you?

Jesus Christ [Messiah] the LORD GOD was born of a virgin 2024 years ago, is now here in the   flesh from GOD through His body and bride, the church and lives forevermore, time without end  and He’s coming again, soon.

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK: December 9 December 9th GOD IS OUR ALLY    C.H. Spurgeon

-But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries- Exodus 23:22

A SINNER’S PRAYER

PRAYER 18, Part 8 of 8   O, FOR MORE GRACE!

Save this age from its own intellectual pride; give back the spirit of simple faith in [Jesus] Christ, for we desire His glory. “For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.” [We ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.]

ANECDOTE 129: A Sleeping Church.

There is a fortress, yonder, far away in India. A troop of those abominable Sepoys [natives of India but yet soldiers of Great Britain] have surrounded it. Bloodthirsty hell-hounds, if they once gain admission, they will rend [rip away] the mother from her children, and cut the strong man in pieces. They are at the gates: Their cannons are loaded, their bayonets thirst for blood, and their swords are hungry to slay. Go through the fort, and the people are all asleep. There is the warder [watchman] on the tower, nodding [asleep] on his bayonet. There is the captain in his tent, with his pen in his hand, and his dispatches [orders] before him, asleep at the table. There are soldiers lying down in their tents, ready for the war, but all slumbering. There is not a man to be seen keeping watch, there is not a sentry [guard]  there. All are asleep. Why [Well] my friends, you would say, “Whatever is the matter here? What can it be? Has some great wizard been waving his wand, and put a spell upon them all? Or are they all mad? Have their minds fled [abandoned them]?

Sure, to be asleep in wartime is indeed outrageous. Here! take down that trumpet; go close up to the captain’s ear, and blow a blast, and see if it does not awake him in a moment. Just take away that bayonet from the soldier that is asleep on the walls, and give him a sharp prick with it, and see if he does not awake.” But surely, surely, nobody can have patience with people asleep, when the enemy surround the walls and are thundering at the gates.

Now, Christians, this is your case. Your life is a life of warfare; the world, the flesh, and the devil; that hellish trinity, and your poor flesh is a wretched mud-work behind which [you hope] to be *entrenched [protected].

Are you asleep? Asleep,
when  Satan has- fire-balls of lust to hurl into the windows of your eyes
when he has- arrows of temptation to shoot into your heart
when he has- snares into which to trap your feet?
Asleep, when he has- undermined your very existence, and
when he is about to apply the match [give fire to fire the cannon] with which to destroy you, unless sovereign grace prevents?

Oh! sleep not, soldier of the cross! [Wake up!] To sleep in war-time is utterly inconsistent.

Great Spirit of God forbid that we should slumber.

* USA spelling used

FAITH’S CHECKBOOK December 9   GOD IS OUR ALLY [on our side]
C.H. Spurgeon 1834-1892

-But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine [your] enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries- Exodus 23:22
-Pero si en verdad oyeres su voz, e hicieres todo lo que yo te dijere, sere enemigo a tus enemigos, y afligire a los que te afligieren.- Exodo 23:22

The Lord [Jesus] Christ in the midst of His people is to be acknowledged and obeyed. He is the vice-gerent [earthly representative] of God, and speaks in the Father’s name, and it is ours implicitly and immediately to do as He commands. We shall lose the promise if we disregard the precept [doctrine].

To full obedience, how large the blessing! [The blessing is huge when full obedience is carried out] The Lord enters into a league [relationship] with His people, offensive and defensive. He will bless those who bless us, and curse those who curse us. God will go heart and soul with His people, and enter in deepest sympathy into their position. What a protection this affords us!

We need not concern ourselves about our adversaries, [enemies] when we are assured that they have become the adversaries of God. If Jehovah has taken up our quarrel [fight] we may leave the foemen [enemies] in His hands.  So far as our own interest is concerned, we have no enemies; but for the cause of truth and righteousness we take up arms and go forth into conflict.

In this sacred war we are allied with the eternal God, and if we carefully obey the law of our Lord Jesus, He is engaged to put forth all His power on our behalf. Wherefore, we fear no man.

Prayer: Thank You Lord Jesus for Your promise that if I continue as Your follower [fully obedient] ALL my enemies will be Your enemies; all my adversaries, Your adversaries. Help me therefore to trust and obey You from the deepest desire of my grateful heart to You for Your sacrificial  love poured out on [the Cross of] Calvary for me. Thank you, Lord Jesus, Amen.

Please send the e-mail address of anyone who would like to receive DailySpurgeon.… and pray for the saving of many souls and the disciple-ing and strengthening of all believers. The Lord … is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.  2 Peter 3:9

Pray also that believers will be led by the Holy Spirit to rightly divide and proclaim God’s immutable and eternal Word protected and preserved by God, Himself.

John 3:16

vis. The Textus Receptus TR [Received Text] is the faithfully rendered Greek text with an overwhelming agreement in and among the majority of the 5,321 extant New Testament, Greek manuscripts  known as the  MT. [Majority Text]. The Old Testament Hebrew and Aramaic manuscripts were meticulously copied by hand [manuscript] by the Masoretic scribes. These are the manuscripts  from which  the Original King James version  was translated onto English.

In order for Westcott & Hort and Nestle & Aland to create the Modern Greek to shore up  the many variant reaings brought through highly nuanced readings from the Critical Text theory.  Only Fifty-five 55 manuscripts from the 5,321 Majority Text MT were hand-picked and they were not from the foundational text from which the Textus Receptus was rendered but were selected from  the inferior Sinaiticus and Vaticanus codices. These fifty-five manuscripts  brought  variant readings and were created, ostensibly, to justify the creation of an alternative Greek text to the Textus Receptus which had been under spurious attack by Westcott & Hort and Nestle & Aland for many years.

The Codices known as Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are inferior because they often are in disagreement with the Textus Receptus and incredibly, with one another. They give rise to variant readings and embrace secular doctrine bias not supported by scripture translated from the Majority Text or Textus Receptus.  They have been infused by  invented Greek text where an absence of Greek text from the Fifty-five hand-picked manuscripts was found.

They invented but did not disclose themselves as the source  of the new Greek translation.  They supplied this new Greek translation to all Committee members with the aim to revise the King James Bible. However, They insisted on a code of silence as to the authorship of the Greek Text from which all the Revisions were to be based. All members of the committee were required to agree to this code.

Modern textual criticism is based on the assumption that older manuscripts are, de-facto, more accurate. Actually, the continuous and unsettled changes from their  variant readings reflect error, doctrinal ambiguities and biases not supported by the Majority Text.

Scripture based on The Greek text of Westcott &  Hort and Nestle & Aland of a secular or denominational tradition allow modern textual criticism  to  rob God of His Sovereignty, Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Immutability, Inerrancy and  Infallibility and to diminish Glory from His infinite and everlasting “I AM” that deserves and demands ALL GLORY.

[temporary] One moment our eyes see Him, and we rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory, but again a little time and we do not see Him, for our Beloved withdraws Himself from us; like a roe [deer] or a young hart [red buck] He leaps over the mountains of division; He is gone to the land of spices and feeds no more among the lilies.

If today he deigns [desires] to bless us

With a sense of pardoned sin,

        He tomorrow may distress us,

Make us feel the plague within.

Oh, how sweet the prospect of the time when we shall not behold Him at a distance, but see Him face to face: when He shall not be as a wayfaring [traveling] man tarrying [staying] but for a night, but shall eternally enfold us in the bosom of His glory.

Millions of years our wondering eyes,

Shall o'er [over] our Savior's beauties rove;

       And myriad ages we'll adore,

The wonders of his love.

We shall not see Him for a little season, but in heaven there shall be no interruptions from care or sin; no weeping shall dim our eyes; no earthly business shall distract our happy thoughts; we shall have nothing to hinder us from gazing forever on the Sun of Righteousness with unwearied eyes. Oh, if it be so sweet to see Him now and then, how sweet to gaze on that blessed face for aye [forever], and never have a cloud rolling between, and never have to turn one's eyes away to look on a world of weariness and woe!

Blest day, when will you dawn? Rise, 0 unsetting sun! The joys of sense may leave us as soon as they will, for this shall make glorious amends [divine reconciliation]. If to die is but to enter into uninterrupted communion with Jesus. then death is indeed gain, and the black drop [death] is swallowed up in a sea of victory.

"Whose heart the Lord opened. "— Acts 16:14
—El corazón de la cual abrió el Señor— Hechos 16:14

IN Lydia's conversion there are many points of interest. It was brought about by

providential circumstances. She was a seller of purple in the city of Thyatira, but just at the right time for hearing Paul, we find her at Philippi;  providence, the handmaid of grace, led her to the right spot. Again, grace was preparing her soul for the blessing

  • grace preparing for grace.

She did not know the Savior, but as a Jewess, she knew many truths which were excellent stepping-stones to a knowledge of Jesus. Her conversion took place in the use of the means. On the Sabbath she went when prayer was usually made, and there, prayer was heard.

Never neglect the means of grace; God may bless us when we are not in His house, but we have the greater reason to hope that He will when we are in communion with His saints.

Observe the words,

"Whose heart the Lord opened."

She did not open her own heart. Her prayers did not do it; Paul did not do it. The Lord Himself must open the heart to receive the things which make for our peace. He alone can put the key into the [key] hole of the door, open it, and get admittance for Himself.

He is the heart's master as He is the heart's maker.

The first outward evidence of the opened heart was obedience. As soon as Lydia had believed in Jesus, she was baptized. It is a sweet sign of a humble and broken heart, when the child of God is willing to obey a command which is not essential to his salvation, which is not forced on him by a selfish fear of condemnation, but is a simple act of obedience and of communion with his Master.

The next evidence was love, manifesting itself in acts of grateful kindness to the apostles.

Love to the saints has ever been a mark of the true convert. Those who do nothing for Christ or His church, give but sorry evidence of an "opened" heart.

Lord, evermore [for all time] give me an opened heart.

You too can cast your cares on the Lord…

  1. Call on Him. As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.. ...Psalm 55:16

  2. Trust Him. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass ... Psalm 37:5

  3. Come to Him. Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest..  Matthew 11:28

  4. Give Him the burden.  Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22]

This ministry continues to flourish from  (Spurgeon’s)  Metropolitan Tabernacle,

(Brief History)

We present Spurgeon's printed  materials for the edification of the church as well as for the benefit, blessing and gospel challenge to all readers. Our desire is that the written Word of God will become the Living  Word in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ to each and every reader.

To this end,  DailySpurgeon.com is offered to encourage and provide opportunity to hear Gospel preaching, and to engage in daily devotional meditation, Bible study and prayer. Careful adherence to Spurgeon’s calendar and  original, unabridged text is given herein.

Published Titles from Spurgeon’s written work are solely used as the resource from which
selections are made for DailySpurgeon.com  :

C.H. Spurgeon Prayers
Spurgeon’s  Illustrative Anecdotes
Faith’s Checkbook
Morning & Evening

These titles are from the body of work created from the preaching and writing of Charles Haddon Spurgeon 1834-1892. No servant of God has left a greater legacy of gospel exposition and preaching to the world than Charles Haddon Spurgeon. He has been widely read with great benefit from the 1800’s to the present time.

He is the beloved founder of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England, thriving TODAY through faithful and uncompromised preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our aim is to lift up and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach Christ Jesus  only and him crucified.
Precaution: These Messages and prayers will not substitute for continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus or for gathering in in-person worship. Neither will they replace personal reading, meditation, prayer and fasting over God's divinely preserved and eternal Word imparted by the Holy Spirit.
The Authorized King James Version (AKJV), also known as the Authorized Version (AV), is the preferred English Bible because it is rendered [translated into English] accurately and  faithfully from the established majority of the Greek Textus Receptus [received text]  manuscripts and the Hebrew Masoretic Text.  These manuscripts are  protected of God, and always give a greater glory to God when compared to variant  readings.  The established majority manuscripts avoid doctrinal error, inaccuracies in translation, uninspired editorial notations, variant or ambiguous readings taken from Codices  Vaticanus, or  Sinaiticus.

The Authorized King James version is distinguished further by the requirement of Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed only by the Cambridge University Press, the Crown’s authorized printer.
Preaching  Preparation:  When preparing to preach, please send us the text reference that has been chosen if you would like us to send the  Spurgeon Sermon addressing the same text.

                 A  SINNER’S  PRAYER

Whosoever shall call on the name of the lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

Pray and call on the name of the Lord Jesus, like this. Won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and hopeless to save myself. Without your death on the cross  I would spend eternity in Hell’s fire.

Thank you Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was born and that You have always loved me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father but by You.

Thank you, Father that You have caused for me to see myself as I am; a lost sinner.  But,  because of Your love and goodness, You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in You, Lord Jesus.  You took my place on the cross and provided the way for  me to be forgiven. Thank You.
Thank You that You prompted a desire in me to believe in You, the only begotten  Son of God who died on the cross to be the sacrifice that would  atone for my sins.

Thank You, Father for Your love that allowed Jesus to suffer and die in my place. Thank You that You raised Jesus from the dead. He is RISEN and is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus I am free.

You raised Jesus from the dead, gave Him a Glorified body and after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with You  in heaven.

Thank you, Father,  for saving me in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Romans 6:11

Thank you, Holy Spirit, that you always give witness to and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ.
John 16:8-11

With all my heart, thank you Lord for saving me.
Live Your life in me,  Lord Jesus, in Your name I pray, Amen.

God has preserved His Word through  The Masoretic Hebrew and Aramaic languages of the Old Testament and the GreekTextus Receptus of the New Testament:

In contrast, the Incomplete and unsealed codices of Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are not translated from the  5,321 Majority Text Greek manuscripts, that became the Textus Receptus [Original Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus].

The Sinaiticus and Vaticanus manuscripts  present variant readings rather than that of the well-established and settled majority Texts. They disagree often with one another as well as with the settled majority texts. Thus, an attempt to create a pretext that will continue to justify a never-ending demand for additional editions and interpretations. These unsettled differences and bias in certain sectarian doctrine [dogma] have led to the production of multiple “modern” editions with ambiguities, many variant readings and confusion from the explosion of unending, new editions.

Profit-driven publishers have embraced such an economic windfall to sell a continual flow of “new and better” English edition of The Bible. They give too little attention to the fidelity and accuracy already settled [in heaven] in majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the  Greek Textus Receptus.

Psalm 119:89-90

ל Lamed

89 Forever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations:

thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. [abides]

God, Himself, providentially protects and preserves His Word. His Word is the God-breathed, self-authenticating, immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful Word, settled in heaven. He is not the author of confusion.

1 Corinthians 14:33

Our Prayer: Dear Lord, empower your ministry to win many souls, and serve those in need, especially those in the household of faith, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Disclaimer: The John Mark Publishing Company honors the memory of Charles H. Spurgeon his writing and preaching. Honor to whom honor is due. He didn’t want praise then and doesn’t  need it now. Our aim is to lift up and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and to preach Christ Jesus only and him crucified.

Precaution: The content presented from this website can be beneficial, but it  cannot substitute for gathering together, in-person, with other believers to hear the preaching of God’s Word and to worship and sing praises to the Lord Jesus Christ [the Messiah].

The Authorized King James Version (AKJV), also known as the Authorized Version (AV), is the authentic. inerrant, and infallible  English Bible because it is rendered [translated into English] accurately and faithfully from the extant 5,321 majority Greek manuscripts text from which the Greek Textus Receptus, [received text] manuscripts of the New Testament is taken.

The Hebrew Masoretic Text copied faithfully by Masoretic scribes was the original Old Testament. (The Jewish Tanakh) is the Hebrew source from which translations into other languages were made. These manuscripts are providentially protected of God and always give the greatest glory to God when compared to other translations.  Editorial notations, variant and sometimes ambiguous readings taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus consistently allow  nuanced meanings to diminish God’s Omnipotence, Omniscience, Omnipresence or other divine attributes from being fully voiced.

The Authorized King James version is unique also in that the requirement of Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed only by the Cambridge University Press, The Crown’s Authorized Printer. No other [person or publisher] may print, copy or import the King James Bible into Great Brittan by order of the Crown.

Printed Spurgeon Prayers: Printed prayers must not be read or offered as a substitute for personal, fervent, effectual, heart-felt, prayer.

Preaching Preparation: When preparing to preach, please “GOOGLE” to find the Spurgeon Sermon that addresses the same text.

My Prayer is that You would touch, lift up, encourage and teach all who faithfully minister your Word.

The above link is to search for specific words or Scriptures in the King James inerrant and infallible  English Version  (KJV)  because it is providentially protected and preserved by GOD Himself through the only translation into English by faithful brethren from the 5,312 established majority text manuscripts MT from which the New Testament  Greek Textus Receptus [received text] was taken  and the Hebrew Masoretic Text of the Old Testament (Jewish Tanakh).  These manuscripts are providentially protected, and give greater glory to God when compared to the variant readings of all post KJV  translations. Modern Critical Texts are based on only 55 hand picked Greek manuscripts fabricated from either Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland. Both of these Greek textual sources make the assumption that OLDER IS BETTER. Of course, this assumption is not valid in any place   the older manuscripts err from the Textus Receptus..

The established majority manuscripts and the Textus Receptus avoid doctrinal error, and inaccuracies in translation, uninspired editorial notations, variant or ambiguous readings which taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus.

Copyright: The King James Version is also distinguished by the requirement of Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed by the Cambridge University Press, the Crown’s authorized printer. No one other than the Crown’s printer, is allowed print, copy or import the King James Bible into Great Brittan by order of the Crown.

In the United States there is no Copyright protection to restrict the free printing of the KJV. It is the only Bible version that may be printed freely as Public Domain. Any  new publication that changes 10% or more of any existing  publication may procure a lucrative Copyright protection to restrict unauthorized printing of the new publication. Therefore,  the NKJV, NIV and many other modern  translations. Only the King James Version New Testament is unique from among the over 100 English translations that follow modern textual criticism and only the King James is faithfully translated from the well-established  Greek Textus Receptus as the  Primary time tested and self-authenticating Greek Source.

DEFENDING  THE  KING JAMES BIBLE    by the Millennium Bible Institute

This video presents the truth  for those who seek to learn about and use the providentially protected, preserved and immutable Holy Bible that is both inerrant [without error] and infallible and gives God alone, the utmost praise, and the greatest glory due to HIMSELF. Praise and worship are rightfully insisted upon and commanded in God’s  inspired [God-Breathed (Spoken) Word from God himself.
HOLY WORDS  that were given by God through the Holy Ghost, word by word, to His  Holy Prophets and Apostles comprise all eternal Holy Scripture. (Matthew 5:18)

HOW HAS  THE MAJORITY TEXT AND  THE TEXTUS RECEPTUS BEEN PROVIDENTIALLY PROTECTED AND PRESERVED?

The inspired, god breathed, immortal words, were  uttered, word-by-word, to the  holy prophets and apostles who were chosen of God and moved by the holy ghost. These words are protected and preserved in holy scripture and are written word-by-word and are immutable, [unchangeable] without error, and infallible [incapable of making a mistake or being wrong]. and for ever [sic] settled in heaven by God himself in the self authenticating word of god, itself.

The Authorized (King James) Holy Bible.

89 For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.

 Psalm 119:89

Authorized (King James) Version:

21For the prophecy [prophecies] came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

The complete Inside  Story of Westcott and Hort:

Brooke Foss Westcott and Fenton John Anthony Hort  (Text only)

URL:   https://www.febc.edu.sg/article/def_the_inside_story_of_westcott_and_hort

In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:

* Letters from close relatives are quoted in the Inside Story above

The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,

thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort or Nestle & Aland.is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on  defective text. Those who honor the Word of God must not promote any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is entirely  evil in itself, but because being contented to use a weakened version rather than the existing, preserved, inerrant unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has preserved for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it must  be to Him if His people now chose versions that are  based on  the defective and inferior  Greek manuscript  invented  by Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Aland.

Let the biblical story of Nadab and Abihu be a lesson for us all:

And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp. So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said. And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled” (Lev 10:1–6).

The Geneva Bible was also translated from the Traditional Greek Text, The Textus Receptus [The Received Text] including  comments favorable to the Protestant Reformation  from, devoted,  faithful Christian men of GOD; Puritan Believers whose lives were  beyond reproach.
This Bible was brought to Plymouth Massachusetts  in the American Colonies by the Puritan Pilgrims guided by Captain Christopher Jones’s on the Mayflower sailing ship in 1620.

The traditional Textus Receptus [The Received (Greek) Text] unlike any other Greek Text was taken  from more than 5,321 original Majority (Greek Manuscript) Text [MT] that agree 99% with one another. Other variant readings stem from Greek translations invented by  either Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland.  These fabricated Greek Texts were translated from only a handful [45] of Majority Text Manuscripts MT and  lack the  trustworthiness of  the inspired 1769 [1611] King James Version, KJV or the Geneva Bible and are the only two translations of the traditional, reliable, inspired, [GOD BREATHED] immutable and providentially and divinely protected Textus Receptus [TR]

There is also translational evidence that establishes The Traditional Greek Text as both the OLDEST and the BEST. [The Counterfeit proofs  offered by Critical Test adherents].

Bridge to Babylon The 1881 Textual Criticism Controversy   (169 minutes.)

(1) URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIC5rUbs_-E&t=9s

The definitive and historical video Bridge to Babylon (URL above) documents the evidence as to  the explosive creation  of over 100 new Critical Text translations of the Bible into English.

Attempts to change the Bible by adding to, or taking away from the 1769 edition of the King James Version [KJV] of the Holy Bible will not  prevail because GOD Himself preserves and protects His inspired [God Breathed, Spoken] , inerrant, [without error] immutable [incapability of changing] and infallible [incapable of having error or failing] God Breathed [Spoken] WORDS. Eternal Protection and Preservation  from all counterfeit and variant readings and heresy, blasphemy, confusion , errors, additions to, or subtractions from the is freely given to WORD of GOD by GOD HIMSELF.

The Traditional Greek Text was first used  in the FIRST Church at Antioch and was later called  The Received Text [Textus Receptus TR].  Over 6 Billion King James Bibles account for more sales world-wide than any other version or edition of the Holy Bible. More than all other Versions and Editions Combined.

Can the Website  DAILYSPURGEON  be trusted?

Therefore I do confess,  that Jesus Christ is come  [is here]  in the flesh.

[All translations of the Bible that use  Greek translations other than the traditional and faithful Textus Receptus do not contain the Greek word “ictin”.  This word  means “is” in English] and  its exclusion causes the meaning of its English equivalent, “is here” to change from “is” come” [“is”   here] to “has” come.

This mistake is self-evident because non-believers, false prophets, atheists and even  heretics can, and frequently do, affirm that Jesus Christ “has come”   [in the flesh].

While this is a true statement, taken at face value, the  meaning of  “has come” is clearly not the same as “is here”. When “has” come is the meaning   the test God has given in His Word to discern whether words being analyzed are from the Spirit of God or the spirit of antichrist is negated.

One of the most well documented facts in all human history is that Jesus The Christ [The Anointed Messiah]  “has” come in the flesh. However, the essential question  is not whether the spirit [a spoken or written word] confesses that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh but, whether this confession affirms that Jesus Christ, “is come” [is here],  in the flesh.

Please Compare and consider [Meditate upon] this scripture with other related scriptures.  Precept upon precept, Line upon line…
Isaiah 28:10-14

 Ephesians 5:30-32

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery: but I [The Apostle Paul]  speak concerning Christ and the church.  [The Church body and Bride of CHRIST]

“I speak concerning Christ and the church.” [the fleshly embodiment, here and now,  of the body of Christ]. Because  followers of Jesus Christ are members of the incarnate Body of Christ [The Church] I freely affirm and avow that Jesus Christ is here

[Not “Has come”] in the flesh.

Which Bible Is The Best?  (57 minutes) David Hocking

David’s Summary  (8 minutes) The problem behind Bible translations is not English.  The issue is what Greek text was being used.   I believe the true Author is The Holy Spirit. I believe this is the Word of God… We need to understand that The word of GOD in and of itself is power. Power to change your life and through the work of the Holy Spirit can produce the New Birth. We are born again of an incorruptible seed of the Word of God which liveth and abideth forever.

Immutable, [unchangeable and, incapable of mutation or change]
Inspired, [God breathed, spoken],

Infallible,[Incapable of failing, making a mistake or being wrong]

Inerrant [Without error]

Self-Authenticating  [The Bible is considered to be self-authenticating because proponents who believe it to be so know it contains inherent divine qualities—Such qualities are unity, majesty, power, and internal consistency—that reveal its divine origin, that convinces readers of its truth without relying on external historical proof or church testimony.

This concept, championed by the Reformation, know that the Holy Spirit illuminate:
the "heavenliness of its matter," the "efficacy of its doctrine," and the "majesty of its style" within the text itself, allowing God's Word to be received directly, the same way as seeing God's glory in Christ.]

Divinely Protected and Providentially Preserved:

Psalm 12:6-7:   6 The words of the Lord are pure words:

Matthew 5:18: 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. (AKJV).

Matthew 24:35: 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. (AKJV).

1 Peter 1:25: 25 but the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.  (AKJV).

Psalm 119:89:  89 For ever, [sic] O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven, Psalm 119:89).  (AKJV).

The Authorized King James Version (AKJV)  also known as The King James Version of 1769 (KJV) The Authorized Version (AV) and The Geneva Bible are faithful Translations from the preeminent, [surpassing all others], The Traditional Greek translation of the Textus Receptus [Received Text] TR that is superior to all Critical Text translations from other Greek Sources including (Westcott & Hort, Nestle & Aland,  and Codices Vaticanus, Sinaiticus and Alexandrus).

John 1:1: 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God.
_____________________________________________________

John 1:1-3    1In the beginning was he Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in he beginning with God. 3 all things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.

1 John 4:1-3

(AKJV) The Authorized Version AKJV Translation was faithfully translated by fully consecrated,  and dedicated men of faith, beyond reproach, preeminent linguists, language scholars who were fully devoted followers of  The Lord Jesus Christ.   The 1611 King James translation is from the inerrant, inspired and immutable Textus Receptus [Received Text]:

Psalm 119:89  ל   (Lamed)  For ever, [sic] O  Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.

“Thy Word” is The Inspired and Ultimate Stare Decisis [A Latin phrase used in Legal terminology  that establishes the principle of “Legal Precedence” that means to stand by things decided, and with reference to Holy Scripture, to uphold all things God-Breathed [Inspired] and therefore eternally and immutably decided]

4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth [says] that Jesus Christ is come [is here] in the flesh is of God: 3 and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Therefore, I now confess that “Jesus Christ is here in the flesh.”

[All other English translations of the Bible that use Greek manuscripts other than the Textus Receptus erroneously renders the English translation “Has come”.

This Translation error is because inferior Greek manuscripts do not include the Greek word  “ictin”  (This is The Greek word for is that is found only in the Majority Text of the Textus Receptus) and therefore  the failure  to correctly translate “ictin” [Is Here] into English.

The Authorized King James Version AKJV also known as The Authorized Version AV and the Geneva Bible stand alone in making and giving the correct translation: “is here”.

This  error: “has come” is self-evident, because non-believers, false prophets and even heretics  can, and sometimes will,  make the confession that He “has come” in the flesh. This is no surprise because the birth of Jesus Christ is the most well documented fact in all of recorded history.  Indeed, it is a true and factual statement that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. Yet, while this is, a true and factual statement, the meaning in scripture has now been erroneously changed. The new and erroneous meaning is that now even if He “has come” in the flesh  the confession that JESUS CHRIST IS HERE IN THE FLESH is impossible for THE SPIRIT OF ANTICHRIST who is the creator of all heresies  to confess. Without it, Don’t  believe anything  that is said or written.

NEITHER does it provide for the test for believers to discern whether a spirit [voice or written words being read or heard] are from God or from the Antichrist.  It is  true that Jesus Christ “has come” in the flesh, but it’s essential that the confession that Jesus Christ,  “IS HERE IN THE FLESH” Be confessed  [be spoken].

It should be the  desire of every born-again  believer to worship God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength, in Spirit and in truth.

“Study to show yourself approved unto God, a worker that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing [accurately sharing] the word of truth.”    2 Timothy 2:15

To this end, Heavenly Father, we pray that You will bless all who visit this website and bring  many to confess the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.  We ask this in Jesus’ name,  Amen.

  DailySpurgeon.com

This Website can not replace nor can it be a substitute for the in-person, personal assembling of ourselves together as is the manner of some.  Hebrews 10:23-27

Rather, its purpose is to save lost sinners and to teach and encourage believers through God’s Word and prayer to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ [The Anointed Messiah] in personal discipleship and worship  of the Lord Jesus as we are predestined to be conformed to His very image.

“For whom God did foreknow he did also predestinate to be conformed to the image of his son…” Romans 8:29

We are, instructed in the Word of GOD to assemble,  praise and worship God. Thus, we must assemble and worship the Lord Jesus Christ and exhort [encourage] and provoke one another to do good works.

Such worship may take place through, congregational singing of sacred hymns and spiritual songs, reading, preaching and obeying God’s Word, sharing Christian love and fellowship, agreeing together  with  specific public prayer requests, and reading and exhorting one another in the Word, to provoke one another to love and serve and bear witness with one another in the Holy Ghost.

Admonition: Online streaming cannot satisfy personal interaction or the warm fellowship of in-person assemblies of  brothers and sisters who are in Christ Jesus. Electronic media cannot substitute for the warm inter-personal love, fellowship, commitment, and compassion, nor does it provide for a kind and comforting touch or embrace of another believer.  e.g. Laying on of hands, 1 Timothy 4:14;  the right hands of Christian fellowship, Galatians 2:9; or an embrace, Acts 20:1; or greeting with a holy kiss,

1 Thessalonians 5:26.

We give thanks to the Lord, for the  Website DailySpurgeon.com  and pray that it will continue to be used of The Lord Jesus to build up fully devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ [Anointed Messiah] .  These followers will be taught to be disciples themselves and will then teach others to be disciples.

We pray that you will also be a radiant messenger of God to share the good news of Jesus Christ with every one, encouraging them to believe in Christ Jesus and to become the very image of Jesus Christ.

This ministry was begun as daily e-mails of Faith’s Checkbook by Charles H. Spurgeon were sent to John -Michael’s son, Jon Edward Riley.  Jon shared these messages with others and soon over 300 were added to the mailing list through his witness as he witnessed and  shared  his testimony with them.

Jon was called home by his loving Father in Heaven on January 16, 2021 leaving a legacy of this Website to minister to all who will  benefit in this labor of Love to the glorify God and His Eternal Kingdom. ALL Glory belongs to GOD, alone.

Jon is honored here; giving honor to whom honor is due.  Romans 13:7

We pray that many will be born again, challenged, encouraged, and built-up to become fully devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ and be conformed to His image; that they might be the firstborn among many brethren.  Romans 8:28-29.

Jon loved to say, “I’m a blood-bought, born-again Child of God!” to anyone he happened to meet.

… Jon’s  testimony lives on from one who, by grace, through faith was forever accepted in the Beloved; who’s loving ways brought the good news of Jesus to many. and one who is now present with the LORD  in glory forever.  One who, one day, we’ll reunite..

Jon  would sometimes just sing-out some of the following songs on the way to church, or just singing along with the Elvis Gospel CD that was always in our F-150’s CD player while riding with his Dad or,  Best of all, when  an inspired,  spontaneous praise from the Lord would just pop out from his joyful, creative, redeemed and loving heart.

*I Can Only Imagine being present with the LORD,  or hearing the completed song the Lord completed with Jon when he arrived; a song known only to the Lord,  to Jon and the few who heard Jon sing it here. Lyrics remembered  from him singing:   "See my Jesus, Walkin' on duh Waduh"…  an original, inspired song from our beloved  Jon, himself a true and renown original.

LOVE WITHOUT END, AMEN  (A Father’s Love) by George Strait honoring George H.W. Bush  (41st President) A favorite song of the President.

It’s also my sincere  message of love to all  my children, grand-children and great grand-children  and all loved ones.

…Jon would always say “Later”; [as in, see-ya later] instead of “good bye”.  It was the only farewell greeting he would ever use when parting company with a friend; and, everyone was Jon’s friend.

… He would never  say “good-bye”.

Now, as we remember the sound of him saying “Later”, it rings true in a  new and deeper meaning and it brings a joy and comfort to the hearts of those whom he loved so well; those who love him still and will forever more.

… and how much sweeter to us now, are the promises in these two Hymns:

’TILL WE MEET AGAIN. (sing along, won’t you?)

GOSPEL SERMONS

God Appeals to Reason  Isaiah 30:15-21   with Dr. Peter Masters

Before conversion, the claims of God mean nothing to us, but when God's Word speaks to our hearts, [by the Holy Spirit] the challenge becomes inescapable [and Irresistible ]. Self-searching begins, and the kindness of God's forgiving love is grasped as never before. Here is God's reasoning with souls.
God Gave them Up  by Alistair Begg

Dr, Peter Masters, Pastor,  METROPOLITAN TABERNACLE, LONDON, U.K.

TEACHING SERMONS Christ Prepares His Church

The call of the disciples, their unique role, and the care and patience of Christ in their training. Then the preparation of the church for extreme and persistent opposition, the reasons why demons were cast out, the unpardonable sin, and the supreme mark of true conversion.

    God Keeps His Promises

2 Corinthians 1.20

The goodness of God is fully demonstrated in the promises He makes in the Bible. That the Creator and Sovereign God should deign to give promises to us is amazing. Here are the major promises, how Christ makes them possible, and how we receive them.

Sanctify Them Through Thy Truth      John 17:17    Dr. Peter Masters, Pastor
Sanctification (purification, consecration and commitment) by the Word is the will of Christ for His own, and here we turn to the first three of the Ten Commandments to challenge our souls. How should these be applied today in our lives and churches?

Closeness to Christ    2 Timothy 2:10-12   Dr.  Peter Masters

In this hostile world, believers cannot live successfully and fruitfully without Christ being with their spirits. Here is why the soul is also called the spirit, and what it means for Christ to be with our spirit. Examples and counsels for securing His nearness.

What Is the Gospel  by the late Dr. R. C. Sproul
Christians are called to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but in our day there is confusion about the content of the Gospel. The biblical Gospel is challenged not only by Roman Catholics and liberals, but by those who claim to be evangelical. In this lecture, Dr. R. C. Sproul will clarify exactly what the Gospel is and what it is not.

Thy Hand Was Heavy Upon Me  Psalm 32:3-4  by Charles H. Spurgeon

The Phenomenon of Love Isaiah 63.7   Dr. Peter Masters
The nature and scope of human love is impressive, but Divine love, made visible in history and, supremely in the atoning sacrifice of Christ, is limitless, freely bestowed and certain toward all who find Him. Here are the 'loving-kindnesses of the Lord' they experience.
Living for the Flesh or for the Spirit  Romans 8.5-6     Dr. Peter Masters
There are two classes of people in the Bible, those who focus on 'the flesh', and those who relate to the Spirit. Here are the characteristics and goals of each, and how God can free us from the captivity of flesh to know communion with Himself.
Mutual Debts in Marriage    1 Corinthians 7:3    Dr. Peter Masters  15 January 2012
A key word has slipped out of some modern translations – the marital debt of benevolence, meaning goodwill and kind benefits. Here are seven debts each has to the other in Christian marriage, a sevenfold bond and blessing to the crowning earthly friendship of life’s journey. Are we paying what is ‘due’?

God’s Order for Man and Women   1 Corinthians Ch 11   Dr. Peter Masters
Paul answers the question on the roles of husbands and wives and affirms conformity to the dress code of head coverings in Greek society at that time. With Calvin and major confessions we show that the ‘message’ of clothing may change in other ages and lands.

Things Only Believers See   1 Corinthians 2:9   Dr. Peter Masters
Sunday Morning 13 February 2022
The apostle impresses upon us the spiritual blindness of the unconverted state to the wonders revealed in the Gospel, including future glories (described here). Here also is the meaning of 'comparing spiritual things with spiritual,'   judging all things and living the mind of Christ

Keeping Alive the Spirit   Ephesians 2:22    Dr. Peter Masters
Sunday Morning 11 April 2021 (March 17 Sermon)
In the building of a spiritual family the work of the Holy Spirit is the vital power. Here several Holy Spirit verses in Ephesians are explored (including 'Be filled with the Spirit') to show the different activities of the Spirit in the Christian life.

The True Source of Power     with  Dr. Peter Masters
Sunday Morning 23 January 2022
For the Gospel to be credible, (the Corinthians [and many today] erroneously taught), we need  conspicuous personalities or preachers. Here Paul proclaims the true source of spiritual power, the preaching of the cross of Christ, and why it is foolishness to the perishing and power to the saved.

SERMONS: from THE Metropolitan Tabernacle, Founded by Charles Haddon Spurgeon  (London, UK)

He Loved and Gave Himself   with Dr. Peter Masters

The enduring amazement of Paul the Apostle shines through these famous words, urging us to explore and ponder the glorious Person of Christ and the way in which He 'gave Himself', or handed Himself over, to the work of redeeming His people.

SING: O, How I Love Jesus (medley)    By Gaither Vocal Band

A SINNER’S PRAYER  FOR WHOSOEVER:

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
Call on the name of the Lord Jesus and be saved     … pray like this, won’t you?

“Lord Jesus, I’m a lost sinner and without You I am lost.  I can’t save myself. Without your death on the cross to pay my sin debt I would be condemned to spend eternity in Hell. My nature and behavior  has been sinful from birth.  Please forgive me.

I realize that doing my best, being as good as possible, or being better than other people can never save me. . I’m sorry for each and every sin I have ever done and look to You to forgive them all.
I look to You, alone  Lord Jesus to save me.
I call on You,  Lord Jesus, right now to save me.  You died on the cross for me, as God’s  sacrifice for my sin.

Right now, just as I am, I call on You, Lord Jesus to save me,  I trust You to be my Savior and Lord.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have forgiven me of all my sins. I want  to follow You from now on.

You paid the price for all of my sins by dying on the cross.

Thank you,  Lord Jesus that You loved me and died for me before I was born and that You love me still

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that You called me away from sin and death into the Life everlasting  in Your only begotten son, the Lord Jesus.

Thank You, Heavenly Father that you raised Jesus from the dead. He is alive and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave.

Thank You for saving me heavenly Father and Holy Spirit for Your comfort and guidance in all things.

With all my heart, thank you Lord Jesus for saving me. In your name, I pray, Amen.
