A  SINNER’S PRAYER

 

PRAYER 4, Part  3 of 5

THE ALL-PREVAILING PLEA

Our Father, which art in heaven; next to this we would [we desire to] offer prayer for those who never think of Thee; who, though created by Thee, are strangers to Thee; who are fed by Thy bounty, and yet never lift their voices to Thee, but live for themself, for the world, for Satan, for sin.

Father, these cannot pray for themselves for they are dead; Thy quickened children pray for them. These will not come to Thee, for, like sheep, they are lost; but do Thou [do] seek them, Father, and bring them back.  Oh! our glorious Lord, Thou hast [have] taught us to pray for others, for the grace which could have met with such undeserving sinners as we are, must be able to meet with the vilest of the vile.

Oh! we cannot boast of what we are; we cannot boast of what we have been by nature. Had we our doom we had now been in hell. Had we this day our proper, natural, and deserved position, we should still have been in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity.

‘Tis Thy rich, free, sovereign, distinguishing grace which has brought us up out of the miry [muddy] clay [filthy sin], and set our feet upon a rock. And shall we even  [how can we even]  refuse to pray for others? Shall we leave a stone unturned for their conversion?   Shall we not weep for those who have no tears and cry for those who have no prayers? Father, we must and we will.

 

“Fain [with the strongest desire] our pity would reclaim,

And snatch the fire-brands from the flame.”
 

There are those who are utterly careless [indifferent]  about Divine Things.  Wilt Thou impress [upon] them! May some stray shot [random word] reach their conscience!

 

Oh! that they may be led solemnly to consider their position and their latter end [eternal destiny] ! May thoughts of death and of eternity dash like some mighty waves, irresistibly against their souls !  

Oh! may heaven’s light shine into their conscience!  May they begin to ask themselves, where they are, and what they are, and may they be turned unto the Lord with full purpose of heart.

There are others who are concerned, but they are halting [lame and stuck] between two opinions. There are some that we love in the flesh who have not yet decided for God. Behold it trembles in the balance!

 

 Cast in Thy cross, O Jesus, and turn [tip] the scale !  Oh!  Love irresistible, come forth, and carry by blessed storm the hearts which have not yet yielded to all the attacks of the law! 

 

Oh! that some who never could be melted, even by the [desert] furnace of Sinai, may be dissolved by the beams of love from the tearful eyes of Jesus!

 

In Your name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen.

 

Anecdote 20 -  The Light of the Bible.
I recollect a story of Mr. Hume, who so constantly affirmed that the light of reason is abundantly sufficient. Being at a good minister’s house one evening, he had been discussing the question, and declaring his firm belief in the sufficiency of the light of nature.   On leaving, the minister offered to hold him a candle to light him [hold a candle for him as he went] down the steps. 

He said  “No; the light of nature would be enough; the moon would do.”[be just fine]  It so happened that the moon was covered with a cloud, and he fell down the steps. “Ah !”  said the minister, “you had better have had a little light from above, after all, Mr. Hume.”  

 

So, supposing the light of nature to be sufficient, we had better have a little light from above, too, and then we shall be sure to be right.

Better [to] have two lights than only one. The light of creation is a bright light. God may be seen in the stars; his name is written in gilt [golden]  letters on the brow of night; you may discover his glory in the ocean waves, yea, in the trees of the field; but it is better to read it in two books than in one.

 

You will find it here [in the Bible] more clearly revealed; for he has written this book himself, and he has given you the key to understand it, if you have the Holy Spirit. Ah, beloved, let us thank God for this Bible; let us love it; let us count it more precious than much fine gold.

[Hear David Hocking  make the case for the Best English translation of the Bible, pointing out the error of Critical Text Theory used in all other English translations that  use the Westcott and Hort’s or Nestle and Aland’s Greek text.    These Greek texts use incomplete and conflicting Greek manuscripts and present  variant readings rather than using the coherent and more reliable Received Text (Textus Receptus) for the New Testament and the Masoretic Hebrew text as Majority Texts for the New and Old Testament respectively of the King James Bible.

Faith’s Checkbook: AUGUST 19   REWARD FOR THE  RIGHTEOUS

- So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth-  Psalm58:11

God’s  judgments in this life are not always clearly to be seen, for in many cases one event happeneth alike to all. [Often the same thing happens in the same way to everyone]

This [time on earth] is the state of probation, not of punishment or reward. Yet at times God works terrible things in righteousness, and even the careless [apathetic] are compelled to own His hand [must acknowledge God and His providence]. — Even in this life righteousness has that kind of reward which it prefers above all others, namely, the smile of God, which creates a quiet conscience. Sometimes other recompenses [rewards]  follow, for God will be in no man’s debt.

But, at the same time, the chief reward of the righteous lies in the hereafter [in Heaven].  Meanwhile, on a large scale, we mark the presence of the great Ruler among the nations. He breaks in pieces oppressive thrones, and punishes guilty peoples. No one can study the history of the rise and fall of empires without perceiving that there is a power which makes for righteousness, and, in the end, brings iniquity before its bar [brings sin to judgment],  and condemns it with unsparing [unlimited]  justice. Sin shall not go unpunished, and goodness shall not remain unrewarded. The Judge of all the earth must do right. Therefore, let us fear before Him, and no more [no longer] dread [fear] the power of the wicked.

Prayer: Thank You Father that You are infinitely just. Thank you for Your smile upon righteousness and the rewards in this life on earth but especially in Heaven.

CHRIST'S reign in His Church is that of a shepherd-king. 

He has supremacy, but it is the superiority of a wise and tender shepherd over his needy and loving flock; 

He commands and receives obedience, but it is the willing obedience of the well-cared-for sheep, rendered joyfully to their beloved Shepherd whose voice they know so well. He rules by the force of love and the energy of goodness.

His reign is practical in its character. It is said, "He shall stand and feed. " The great Head of the Church is actively engaged in providing for His people. He does not sit down upon the throne in empty state [motionless], or hold a scepter without wielding it in government. No, He stands and feeds. The expression "feed," in the original, is like an analogous one in the Greek, which means to shepherdize [be a shepard], to do everything expected of a shepherd: to guide, to watch, to preserve, to restore, to tend, as well as to feed.

       
His reign is continual in its duration. It is said, "He shall stand and feed"; not "He shall feed now and then, and leave His position"; not "He shall one day grant a revival, and then next day leave His Church to barren ness." His eyes never slumber [sleep], and His hands never rest; His heart never ceases  [fails] to beat with love, and His shoulders are never weary of carrying His people's bur dens.

       His reign is effectually powerful in its action; "He shall feed in the strength of Jehovah."  Wherever Christ is, there is God; and whatever Christ does is the act of the Most High. Oh! it is a joyful truth to consider that He who stands today representing the interests of His people is very God of very God, to whom every knee shall bow. Happy are we who belong to such a shepherd, whose humanity communes [has conversations and fellowship] with us, and whose divinity  [heavenly nature] protects us.

Let us worship and bow down before Him as the people of His pasture.

EVENING   August 19

"Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for Thou art my strength. "—Psalm 31:4

OUR spiritual foes are of the serpent's brood [devil’s children], and seek to ensnare [trap] us by subtlety [things that seem to have little importance]. The prayer before us supposes the possibility of the believer being caught like a bird. So deftly [well] does the fowler [bird wrangler] do his work, that simple ones are soon surrounded by the net. The text asks that even out of Satan's meshes [nets] the captive one may be delivered; this is a proper petition, and one which can be granted: from between the jaws of the lion, and out of the belly of hell, [a whale] can eternal love rescue the saint. It may need [require] a sharp pull to save a soul from the net of temptation, and a mighty pull to extricate a man from the snares of malicious cunning [deceit], but the Lord is equal to every emergency, and the most skillfully placed nets of the hunter shall never be able to hold His chosen ones. Woe unto those who are so clever at net laying; they who tempt others shall be destroyed themselves. "For Thou art my strength." What an inexpressible sweetness is to be found in these few words! How joyfully may we encounter toils [hard labor], and how cheerfully may we endure sufferings, when we can lay hold upon celestial [heavenly] strength. Divine power will rend asunder [rip apart] all the toils of our enemies, confound their politics, and frustrate their knavish [childish and mischievous] tricks;  he is a happy man who has such matchless might [omnipotent strength] engaged upon his side. Our own strength would be of little service when embarrassed in the nets of base cunning [our strength can’t help much when we’re  caught in the simplest  deceit],  but the Lord's strength is ever available; we have but to invoke it, and we shall find it near at hand. 

If by faith we are depending alone on the strength of the mighty God of Israel, we may use our holy reliance [our trust in Him] as a plea in supplication  [as an earnest, heart-felt request in prayer].

Lord, evermore Thy face we seek: 
Tempted we are, and poor, and weak; 
Keep us with lowly hearts, and meek. 
Let us not fall. Let us not fall.

 

A SINNER’S  PRAYER 

 

Whosoever shall call on the name of the lord shall be s

aved. Acts 2:21

 Pray and call on the name of the Lord Jesus, like this. Won’t you? 

“Lord Jesus, I’m a sinner. I’m lost and hopeless to save myself. Without you and your blood that was shed for me and Your death on the cross  I would spend eternity in Hell’s fire.

Thank you Lord Jesus that You love me and died for me before I was born and that You have always loved me and will never reject or turn your back on me. I know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one can come to the Father but by You.  

Thank you, Father that You have caused for me to see myself as I am; a lost sinner.  But,  because of Your love and goodness, You have made a way and given me the desire to come to You, to turn away from my sin and to trust in You, Lord Jesus.  You took my place on the cross and provided the way for  me to be forgiven. Thank You.
Thank You that You prompted a desire in me to believe in You, the only begotten  Son of God who died on the cross to be the sacrifice that would  atone for my sins.

Thank You, Father for Your love that allowed Jesus to suffer and die in my place. Thank You that You raised Jesus from the dead. He is RISEN and is ALIVE and in Him we are victorious over sin, death and the grave and in Christ Jesus I am free.

You raised Jesus from the dead, gave Him a Glorified body and after he was seen by many witnesses on earth You took Him up to reign with You  in heaven.  

Thank you, Father,  for saving me in the name, of Your only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Thank you, Holy Spirit, that you always give witness to and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ. 
John 16:8-11

With all my heart, thank you Lord for saving me.
Live Your life in me,  Lord Jesus, in Your name I pray, Amen.

God has preserved His Word through The Masoretic Hebrew of the Old Testament and the GreekTextus Receptus of the New:
 

In contrast, the Incomplete and unsealed codices of Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are not translated from the  over 5,312 Majority Text Greek manuscripts, that became the Textus Receptus [Original Masoretic Hebrew and the Greek Textus Receptus]. Sinaiticus and Vaticanus present variant, ambiguous and erroneous readings rather than that of the well-established and settled texts. They disagree often with one another as well as with the settled majority texts. Thus, an attempt to create a pretext that will continue to justify a never-ending demand for additional editions and interpretations. These unsettled differences and bias in certain sectarian doctrine [dogma] have led to the production of multiple “modern” editions with ambiguities, many variant readings and confusion from the explosion of unending, new editions.

Profit-driven publishers have embraced such an economic windfall to sell a continual flow of “new and better” English edition of The Bible. They give too little attention to the fidelity and accuracy already settled [in heaven] in majority manuscripts of the Masoretic Hebrew and the  Greek Textus Receptus.

God, Himself, providentially protects and preserves His Word. His Word is the God-breathed, self-authenticating, immutable [unchanging and unchangeable], eternal, inerrant, infallible, infinite and all-powerful Word, settled in heaven. He is not the author of confusion.

The above link is to search for specific words or Scriptures in the King James inerrant and infallible  English Version  (KJV)  because it is providentially protected and preserved by GOD Himself through the only translation into English by faithful brethren from the 5,312 established majority text manuscripts MT from which the New Testament  Greek Textus Receptus [received text] was taken  and the Hebrew Masoretic Text of the Old Testament (Jewish Tanakh).  These manuscripts are providentially protected, and frequently give greater glory to God when compared to variant readings of all modern translations from Modern Critical Texts based on only 55 hand picked inferior Greek manuscripts fabricated from either Westcott and Hort or Nestle and Aland. Both of these Greek textual sources follow an assumption that OLDER IS BETTER. Of course, this assumption is not valid if the older manuscripts contain error.

 

The established majority manuscripts and the Textus Receptus avoid doctrinal error, and inaccuracies in translation, uninspired editorial notations, variant or ambiguous readings which taken from Codices Vaticanus, or Sinaiticus.

Copyright: The King James Version is distinguished by the requirement of Great Brittan that all King James bibles be printed by the Cambridge University Press, the Crown’s authorized printer. No one other than the Crown’s printer, is allowed print, copy or import the King James Bible into Great Brittan by order of the Crown.

 

In the United States there is no Copyright protection and the KJV  is deemed Public Domain. If a new publication changes at least a 10% of an existing  publication a lucrative Copyright can be granted. Therefore  the NKJV and many other copyrighted translations. In 1870, The Anglican Church of England passed a resolution to revise the English Bible. The New Testament revision committee which finally consisted of 25 scholars (though only about 16 eventually attended the meetings) which included Westcott and Hort. The committee worked for ten years in the Jerusalem chamber, and these two scholars swept the Revision Committee along with them after work commenced. In fact, the “Cambridge trio” (Westcott, Hort and Lightfoot) colluded with others to dominate the meetings with their views of the text and to defeat any who opposed them. Their *letters reveal this conspiracy:

The only voice defending the Textus Receptus was Dr Scrivener, probably the foremost scholar of the day in the manuscripts of the Greek New Testament and the history of the Text. But he was systematically outvoted by the Cambridge trio and outdone by Hort’s powerful debating skill. When the revision was completed, the revision committee had altered the Greek Text in 5,337 places,

thus violating the original rule that had been set for the committee of not altering the Greek Text unless absolutely necessary to do so.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, let it be said that no matter how good any modern version of the New Testament is in other ways, it is clearly blemished if the work of Westcott and Hort is present in it. The presence of their work means that it is based on a defective text. Those who want to honor the Word of God must not promote the use of any of these versions by the church, not because the content of the version is entirely  evil in itself, but because being contented to use a weakened version rather than the existing, preserved, without error unblemished one, dishonors God. If God has preserved for His people a good Greek text of the New Testament for 18 centuries, how dishonoring it would be to Him if His people now chose instead to use versions that are  based on  defective Greek manuscript  created by Westcott & Hort or Nestle & Aland.

 

Let the biblical story of Nadab and Abihu be a lesson for us all:
